Pummelo Island
On the way to Pummelo Island, Ash and Tracey accidentally breathed in Stun Spore from a wild Vileplume, making them sick. And now that leaves Tomo and Misty alone to help them feel better. Luckily Misty found and caught a Poliwag to help her find Salveyo weed to make a cure by boiling it.
After winning the Orange League Competition on Stardust Island, Ash was given the right to move onto Pummelo Island, so he can challenge the final Orange Crew member.
"Pika Pikachu." Pikachu said.
"I know Pikachu this is it." Ash grins as they were nearing Pummelo Island.
"You see that stadium?" Tracey points out. "That's gotta be where the Orange League battle will take place."
"I wonder if this place does any wild or crazy battle challenges like the gyms?" Tomo asks.
"Well it's the final one so they must have something big planned." Misty said.
"Pikapi." Pikachu points over and they see something flying across the water at an incredible speed. It flew so fast and disappeared in the sky.
"Whoa what was that?" Misty asks.
"It was really fast and pretty far away. I couldn't get a good look." Tracey said.
"Hmm..." Ash saw it too, but couldn't help but sensed something familiar from it.
Upon reaching the island, Ash registers himself for the battle. "Hello, I'd like to register for the Orange League please."
"Another one huh? Well let me just verify these badges." The man scans the 4 badges Ash received. The badges and Ash's face appeared on screen. "And may I see the pass of qualification from Stardust Island?" Ash brings out the pass he won and scans it. "Well looks like your all set and ready to go. Your match will be tomorrow morning at 10 inside Pummelo Stadium."
"Can't wait." Ash grins.
"Now do you need directions on how to get to the stadium?" The man asks.
"I would sure love it, thank you." Ash nodded.
Tracey was eyeing a statue of a Dragonite. "Hey Tracey you coming?" Misty calls out.
"Oh uh yeah!" He runs out the door.
The man leads them up to the top of the hill where a large colosseum could be seen in there view. "That's Pummelo Stadium, where you'll have your battle tomorrow."
"Wow looks like Gladiator stadium." Tracey said.
"And over here, is the Palace of Victory." The man shows them a green building. "Or sometimes known as the Orange League Hall of Fame."
Entering they see tons of pictures of trainers and giant slabs with both the trainer and Pokemon footprints.
"All these pictures and trophies are here to celebrate every single trainer that has won here in the Orange League." The man said.
Ash looks to them all in wonder. He was then informed that the Orange League match is a Full Battle; meaning Ash had to use 6 Pokémon.
"Here you and the Pummelo Gym Leader will compete. No tricks, no twists like the gyms. Here it's just you and your Pokemon proving to us to see if you deserve a spot in this Hall of Fame." The man said.
"A good ol' classic match." Misty said.
"Hey look." Tracey said seeing another Dragonite statue. "That same statue."
"Oh that's a Dragonite. The legendary Pokémon that guards this island." The man informed him.
"Hey, I wonder if that huge flying thing we saw.." Tracey recalled seeing the flying figure on the way here.
"Oh that was just the Leader's Dragonite just getting some exercise." He said surprising them.
"I knew it, it was a Dragonite we saw on the way here." Tracey said.
"The Leader's Dragonite is the Guardian of this island. It's also the reason why no one is able to defeat the current Supreme Gym Leader, Drake, for such a long time. In fact, he's been the reigning Champion for over 5 years."
"5 years?!" Everyone gasped.
"Yes. Trainers after Drake tried their best, but some just couldn't make it to Dragonite. Or Dragonite put an end to their Orange League quest, because it was just too strong of an opponent for them."
"So if I want to win I need to be ready to take on all his Pokemon, and somehow figure out a way to bring down Dragonite." Ash said.
"No wonder there's not special twists. This is hard enough." Misty said.
"A 5 year run, that's some experience to try and debunk." Tracey said.
"Well Ash, I say this to others; but if you can take down Drake in a long time, all of Pummelo would be talking about you for quite a long time." The man says giving Ash something to think about while he walks off.
"I knew this last battle wasn't going to be easy but wow. This is something else." Ash said.
"What are you going to do?" Tomo asked him.
"I'm gonna put some of my best Pokemon out there plus a little something in there to trip this Drake guy up a little." Ash said getting an idea.
And that's what he plans to do. We now go to the Pokémon Center where Ash was switching Pokémon one by one. This time, by going to Prof. Oak. Ash needed 2 things: Skill and Power.
On the screen, Prof. Oak appears.
"Ash, good to see you. I saw you at the Stardust Tournament. Very impressive work." Prof. Oak said.
"Thank you Professor. But now, I'm now at the Orange League and I need to really show my best out there if I wanna win." Ash said.
"Right, which one of your Pokemon do you want to switch for?" Prof. Oak asks.
"Actually I want to switch out my entire team." Ash said.
"Entire team?" Prof. Oak blinked.
"Ash are you sure about this? That's quite the change." Tracey said.
"Trust me, I know." Ash said turning to Pikachu. "Sorry Pikachu but you gotta go into the Pokeball for a little bit."
"Pi?" Pikachu asked mortified, but he's ears lowered.
"I swear it'll be over quickly and Prof. Oak will let you out right after you arrive." Ash assures.
"Chu.." Pikachu sighed reluctantly, but no other choice given, he obliged.
"Well Ash have you given any ideas for who you will use for this battle?" Prof. Oak asks.
Ash gave Prof. Oak a list of all 6 Pokémon he wishes to use. Nodding, Prof. Oak helped him do the switch up, including sending Pikachu back.
Getting the last of his team, Ash looks to see Prof. Oak let out Pikachu.
"Pika." Pikachu shudders.
"There, there. It's all over. Now will that be all for you Ash?" Prof. Oak asked.
"Yeah I think so. Thanks Professor." Ash waves.
"Good luck Ash we'll be rooting for you." Prof. Oak said.
"Pikachu." Pikachu agreed waving goodbye.
Hanging up, Ash felt like he was now ready.
Meanwhile at the Pummelo Stadium, a man with spiky hair was standing in the middle of the arena when Dragonite flew in.
"We have a new challenger tomorrow." He said as Dragonite looks at him interested.
This was Drake, the reigning Orange League Supreme Gym Leader. "I hope this one really gives us a tough fight. It seems kind of boring being undefeated, right?" He asked the Dragonite, making Dragonite nod with a grunt.
"Well we'll find out tomorrow." Drake said as he and Dragonite go off to prepare.
The very next day...
The day of the Orange League match has finally come and Pummelo Island was packed with people all around ready to watch.
"Welcome all Pokémon fans! Pummelo Stadium is filled with excitement as we start the first league challenge of the season!" the announcer said.
Drake walked in from his side. "Entering the arena is Drake, leader of the Orange Crew and the undefeated Supreme Gym Leader!" All of Pummelo Stadium chanted his name.
"DRAKE! DRAKE! DRAKE! DRAKE!"
"And his challenger! Winner of the Stardust Tournament, Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town!" The announcer said as Ash walked in from his side.
Everywhere in the Orange Islands were all of the people who Ash encountered along the way were watching the match on television.
Meeting in the middle, Ash and Drake shake hands.
"Our competitors beging the battle with the ceremonial handshake." The announcer said.
"Welcome to Pummelo Stadium Ash." Drake greets.
"It's a pleasure to be Drake." Ash smiles.
"You must be a very strong trainer to have made it this far. I look forward to a great battle with you." Drake said. "Are you ready?"
"Oh yeah." Ash nods.
"And now to see the first field our trainers will be battling on!" Making their way to the stadium they look to see it open up revealing a rock field with a large pool in the middle. "And the first field is a Rock and Water field!"
"What does he mean by first field?" Ash asked.
"There will be 2 fields for a battle. The field will change once the either side lose their first 3 Pokémon." The referee explained to them. The two trainers got in position as did he.
"This Winner's Trophy battle between the Supreme Gym Leader Drake and the Challenger Ash Ketchum is ready to go underway. Each side may use 6 Pokémon each. Only the Challenger is allowed to substitute Pokémon if needed to!" The bell rang. "And begin!"
"I hope this one leaves a good impression!" Drake said. "Go Ditto!" He said releasing a Ditto.
"And the Champ's first Pokemon is Ditto! How will Ketchum react to this challenge?"
"Talk about starting the battle off tough." Tracey said.
"Ditto will become whatever Pokemon Ash chooses." Misty said.
Tomo reassured Ash will be fine while holding onto his brother's egg.
"Alright, go! Evlon!" Ash throws out his psychic fox.
"Espe!" Espeon lands on the
"What the?" Drake said not expecting this.
"Oh wow. It appears this challenger has some surprises up his sleeve. I am just now being told that Ash's Pokemon is an Espeon!" The announcer said.
Now the battle officially begun. "Ditto, Transform!" Drake yells as Ditto transforms into an Espeon.
"Evlon, start things off with Shadow Ball!" From her mouth, Evlon fires a dark ball of energy.
"Ditto dodge it and use Iron Tail!" Leaping off the rocks, Ditto charges in with a glowing tail.
"Dodge it!" Leaping up Evlon dodges just in the nick of time as Ditto destroys the rocks where it originally was.
"Use your Psychic Evlon!" Ash said. Evlon's eyes glowed as she struck Ditto in the process.
Skidding backwards, Ditto recovers standing strong.
"Ditto Shadow Ball!" Drake said as Ditto fires Shadow Ball smashing into Evlon.
Cringing in pain, she skids backwards. "Now use your Psychic Ditto!" Drake says.
"Protect yourself Evlon!" Ash said as Evlon used Protect and save herself from being struck from Psychic. "Now use Double Team!" Espeon creates copies of herself.
"Ditto use Psychic on the rocks!" Hurling rock chunks at the copies, they started to disappear upon impact.
As they smashed the last one, the real Evlon wasn't around Ash's spot.
"Esp?" Ditto said confused when Evlon leaps in from the side.
"Oh look at this, Ash's Espeon distracted Ditto attacking its copies!"
"Now Evlon, give'im your Psychic Fangs!" Ash said as her fangs glowed and bit Ditto.
"Espeon!" Ditto cries in pain.
"I think Drake is struggling to figure out how to use this transformation." Tracey noticed.
"Because he's never seen an Espeon fight before?" Tomo guessed.
"And Ash is using that to his advantage." Misty smiles. Drake stays calm and silent as he tries remembering the attacks and moves Evlon showed. "Alright Ditto Iron Tail on the water!" Leaping over the pool Ditto slams Iron Tail on a platform sending it flying towards Evlon.
Ash yelled to Evlon to dodge it "Now Psychic!" While Evlon was still in the air Ditto stops him with Psychic trapping him in midair.
Evlon yipped as she struggles while gritting her teeth. "Now send her flying!"
"Espeon!" Ditto sends Evlon sliding backwards.
"Evlon!" Ash gasps as Evlon crashes into a large rock shattering it.
"Psychic attacks may not be that effective on other psychic types, but I found a loophole in the process." Drake grins. "If one of them per say, lose concentration, it could lead to disaster."
"Oh no." Ash cringed seeing why he was undefeated.
Evlon groaned, getting back on her paws.
"Hang in there Evlon, you and I have way more tricks than they do." Ash assured.
Shaking her head, Evlon glares at Ditto. "Evlon use Double Team!" Charging in Evlon made multiple copies which all ran around Ditto trying to confuse them.
"Ditto, fire Psybeam around you!" Drake said
Firing a powerful multi-colored beam Ditto blasts clone after clone.
"Shadow Ball!" Leaping out of the water behind it Evlon blasts Ditto from close range.
"Another trick out from the Challenger, giving Ditto major damage!" The announcer said.
"He used Double Team as a distraction while the real one jumped into the water." Drake said impressed.
"Now go in for an Iron Tail!" Ash points as Evlon ran, tail turning into metal.
"Ditto, get back up and use Iron Tail too!" Drake said as Ditto recovered and charged.
Both Pokemon clash tails trying to push the other back. Which turned into the two ducking and dodging the other from striking the other.
"And this first round of the battle has turned into an epic clash of Iron Tails!" The announcer said.
No matter how many times, this always looked epic.
"Ditto switch to Psychic Fang!" As Evlon swings its tail Ditto but down on it stopping Evlon in its tracks.
"Keep using Iron Tail girl and smash Ditto!" Ash said.
"Espe!" Espeon grits her teeth, but stood strong to flip herself and slam Ditto into a boulder.
"Ditto!" Drake gasps as from the rubble Ditto turned back to his normal form with swirly eyes.
"Ditto is unable to battle! Espeon wins!" The ref declares.
"And the challenger has won the first round of this full battle!" The announcer said.
"Oh man when Ditto trapped Evlon with Psychic Fang I was worried for a second." Misty admits.
"I think it was Iron Tail being a steel move for a reason." Tracey pondered. "Perhaps that's the reason why Ash managed to give the finishing blow."
Returning Ditto, Drake looks to him.
"Impressive move Ash, but you don't stand a ghost of a chance against this one!" Drake said calling out a Gengar.
"Gengar.." Ash mutters.
"Drake's 2nd Pokémon is the devious Gengar. This puts both trainers at the advantage and disadvantage. Espeon, being a Psychic Pokémon are weak against Ghost types. While Gengar, being part Poison Type, are weak against Psychic types."
"Both Pokemon have an advantage over the other." Tomo said.
"Yeah but something tells me Drake has a plan." Tracey said.
"Evlon, return. Take a break." Ash said returning Espeon.
"Hmm what's he gonna use now?" Drake asks interested.
"Mystic I choose you!" Ash said as Mystic appears in the middle of the pool and roars.
"Holy toledo! Ash Ketchum has just pulled out none other than the Atrocious Pokemon; Gyarados as his second Pokémon!"
"Well this just got interesting." Drake smiles impressed.
"You wanna know some trivia Tracey? That's the Gyarados who saved Ash." Misty reminded him.
"You mean when he first got.." Tracey gestures to area of the face where Ash's scars were.
"Yep Mystic and Talon." Misty nods.
"She's loyal and hates everyone who hurts him." Tomo said.
"Sounds like quite the Pokemon." Tracey said.
"Gengar, Night Shade!" Gengar fires a dark blast of energy from its eyes.
"Mystic dodge and use Hydro Pump!" Swimming out of the way Mystic fires a powerful blast of water.
Gengar flew out of harm's way. "Use Confuse Ray!" Gengar's eyes glow red, causing Mystic to not look away.
Roaring Mystic flailed around in the water like a Magikarp totally confused.
"Uh oh, this is exactly why Gyarados are known to be dangerous Pokemon. Because of their raging behaviors that cannot be stopped!"
"Now Gengar Shadow Ball!" While Mystic was vulnerable Gengar blasts her with Shadow Ball making her crash into the water.
Ash grits his teeth. "Mystic, you have to calm down!" Under the water, Mystic growls before snapping out of the confusion and resurfacing back to normal. She roared loudly, giving out sound waves in the process. "Oh yeah." Ash grins. "Mystic Dragonbreath!" Breathing the green blast it strikes knocking Gengar out of the sky.
"Gengar, hang in there. Use Dark Pulse!"
"Cancel it out with Hydro Pump!" Ash said. Gengar fired a powerful dark blast while Mystic fired a torrent of water, which overpowered Dark Pulse and splashed into Gengar.
"Amazing after struggling with Confuse Ray, Ash's Gyarados is on the attack and Gengar is struggling to stay strong!" The announcer said.
"Don't count us out yet." Drake warns as Gengar shakes off the water from its body. "Gengar, Thunder attack now!"
"Gengar!" Firing a powerful electric attack zapping her.
"Stand strong Mystic!" Ash called out. Gyarados heard his voice and groaned as the attack was soon over and she pants.
"Gengar use Night Shade!"
"Mystic Dive!" Ash said as Mystic dove underwater dodging the attack.
Gengar however kept blasting the water, to strike her. "Gyarados is like a fish in a barrel how will Ash fight back?" The announcer asks.
"He can't, once Gyarados come back up, Gengar will strike with another Thunder." Drake grins.
'There's got to be a way Mystic and I can counter attack.' Ash thought.
Underwater, Mystic was just in the same pickle as Ash, trying to think of something.
And just like that, the two put their heads together and something came into their minds. "Hey, wait a minute..I got it. Mystic!" Ash calls out. "I need you to use Whirlpool and Twister at the same time!"
Roaring the entire pool started to spin and suddenly a giant water tornado shot out of the pool surprising everyone.
"Wait a minute. I've seen that move." Tomo gasps.
Pausing everyone saw Ash made his own take on the water tornado Lugia used back on Shamouti.
"Gengar, Thunder attack!" Gengar tried to strike it with thunder, but it surprisingly bounced. "What the?" Drake blinked.
"Not gonna work!" Ash yells as Mystic unleashed the Water Tornado knocking Gengar into the whirlpool making him spin around and around.
"GENGAR!" Gengar screamed as he went spinning around and around, becoming dizzy in the process.
"Gengar get out of there!" Drake yells.
"It's useless Drake." Ash tells him. "Not even something sneaky as a Gengar can penetrate a tornado."
As Gengar spins around and around he ended up stopping right in front of Mystic.
"Gar?!" It gasps.
"Aqua Tail!" With a glowing tail, Mystic slams it down on Gengar creating a giant splash and even soaking a bit of the audience like if they were at Sea World.
"Hey that looked kinda fun." Tomo points out.
"For us, but I don't think Gengar liked that." Tracey said.
"Gengar!" Drake calls out to the ghost type.
Washing ashore, Gengar groans with swirly eyes.
"Gengar is unable to battle! Gyarados wins!" The ref declared.
"And Ash is on a roll leading this battle 2 to 0!" The announcer said.
"Well that was quite the finisher." Misty said.
"Yeah hopefully Ash can keep this up." Tracey said.
The audience were starting to gossip about Ash's two well deserved wins.
As Drake returns Gengar he was smiling liking this challenge. "Alright Ash, this time you're in for a shock!" From his Pokeball an Electabuzz appeared.
"Drake's 3rd Pokémon is the electrifying Electabuzz! Thus giving him the advantage this time around." The announcer says.
"Against a Water/ Flying type like Mystic, Electabuzz is the worst Pokemon to face." Ash said.
Guess now's the time to do a switch. Ash recalled Mystic for another battle.
"Tank I choose you!" Ash said throwing a Pokeball.
"Snorlax." Tank said landing across from Electabuzz.
"And Ash brings out a heavy hitter, but heavy sleeper Snorlax as Pokémon #3!" The announcer says.
"Alright Tank use Body Slam!" Ash said as Tank leaps in.
"Electabuzz dodge and use Thunderbolt!" Leaping back Electabuzz narrowly dodges as Tank crushes some rocks with his big belly.
Sparkling its antennas, Electabuzz blasted Tank with electricity.
"Snor!" Tank cringed taking the attack but stood strong thanks to his high defense.
"Use Defense Curl!" Ash said as Tank's body glowed, boosting his defense power even more. "Now Tank Earthquake!"
Tank stomps the ground, creating a humongous tremor.
"Whoa!" Everyone in the stadium said as the entire arena shook violently.
"What power! Snorlax's Earthquake is shaking the entire arena!" The announcer said.
Electabuzz cringed in pain, it couldn't do anything to avoid it. "Electabuzz Mimic!" Drake said as Electabuzz copied Earthquake making Tank the one to shake as the ground broke under Tank's weight.
"Mimic? What was that!?"
"It's a powerful move that lets you copy the last move your opponent uses. Talk about dangerous." Tracey said.
Causing Tank to fall through his hole.
"Now use Thunder Punch!" While Tank was trapped Electabuzz moves in and punches Tank dead center.
"Now Iron Tail!" Electabuzz's tail turned into metal and swings it into Tank's sides.
"Tank use Ice Punch!" With a frozen fist Tank knocks Electabuzz away.
'I can keep Electabuzz away, but how can I get Tank out of that hole?' Ash thought.
"Electabuzz Thunderbolt!"
"Tank Hyper Beam straight down!" Firing Hyper Beam it launched Tank out of the hole and into the air. Everyone in the stadium watched the airborne Snorlax.
"Holy cow! A flying Snorlax?! Did you ever think you would hear those words?! I sure didn't!"
"He must be crazy." Drake said in awe. "Once Snorlax hits the ground.."
However as Tank fell Drake saw he was aiming right for the pool the safest spot in the arena.
Once landing, Snorlax made a huge splash, which sent water all over the field. "I knew he'd mess up sooner or later." Drake grins.
Snorlax then hops back onto the field, completely fine. "Snor."
"Clever move Ash, but thanks to your giant cannonball you made this so much easier for me." Drake said. "Electabuzz Thunderbolt!" Firing electricty along the soaked field it zapped Tank doing tons more damage than normal.
"Drake uses Ash's save to his advantage and Snorlax is now even more pain when water and electricity mixed together. It isn't pretty." The announcer said.
"Tank use Heavy Slam!" Turning his belly to metal, Tank rams into Electabuzz sending it flying backwards.
Electabuzz even slipped in the process "Don't them fight back Tank use Earthquake one more time!" Ash said as Tank stomps the ground causing it to shake violently.
"E-Electabuzz, Mimic!" Drake tries saying.
Electabuzz used Heavy Slam however because the difference between his and Tank's is too much the attack didn't do much damage.
A crack from the ground strikes Electabuzz.
"Tank hang in there a little longer!" Ash said as Electabuzz kept up the attacks causing the crack to grow.
"Electabuzz, keep going!" Drake said. "Push him hard!"
Keeping up the pressure Electabuzz nailed Tank again and again.
While Tank in return, roared and made one final stamp on the ground.
Shattering under them the ground broke causing both Pokemon to fall through it.
"Electabuzz!" Drake gasped.
"Tank!" Ash gasped.
As the dust cleared we look to see both Pokemon on the ground with swirly eyes from the fall.
"Snorlax, Electabuzz! Both are unable to battle!" The ref declared.
"What a shocker, both Pokémon are out of this competition!" The announcer says.
Ash returns Tank while Drake recalled Electabuzz. "You did great Tank, you deserve this break." Ash said to the ball.
"Well Ash may not have one this round, but this is the first time a challenger has knocked out 3 of the champion's Pokémon in a row."
"There will now be a timeout for the field change!" The referee said.
Heading back to his area, Ash sat down next to Misty, Tracey and Tomo.
"Not bad Ash you're halfway there." Misty said.
"Thanks but this guy is not making it easy. No wonder he's undefeated." Ash said.
He looks to egg and pats it. "Even though you're in that egg, I hope you're watching." Ash said. "This might be you one day."
On the other side, Drake was touching the Pokeball around his neck.
"I might be using you after all." Drake grins.
"And now for the second field!" The announcer said as the rock and water field was replaced with a sand desert field.
Ash and Drake reappeared in their trainer boxes.
"As resume our 6-on-6 battle, we now have a recap. Drake is down to only 3 Pokémon while the challenger still has 5 Pokémon left! Can Drake make a comeback and bring Ash down to only one?!"
"I can and will! Go now Onix!" Drake said throwing out the large rock snake.
"And Drake's 4th Pokemon is Onix! This ferocious Pokemon is certainly an excellent way to start!" The announcer said.
"Alpha I choose you!" Ash said calling out his grass type.
"Ash's next Pokémon is the ferocious Venusaur, thus giving Ash tbe advantage against Onix!"
"Alpha Razor Leaf!" Ash said as Alpha fired tons of leaves.
"Onix Sandstorm!" Drake said as Onix kicked up a giant sandstorm and thanks to the field it was stronger.
"Now Headbutt!" Appearing from behind, Onix slams into Alpha.
"Saur!" Alpha cringed skidding backwards.
"Rock Slide!" Slamming his tail down Onix made multiple boulders rain down.
"Vine Whip attack!" But Venusaur flinched and the rocks fell on Alpha's body.
"Type advantage isn't everything. Onix use Iron Tail!" With a glowing tail Onix whacks Alpha.
"Alpha, Energy Ball!" Ash yelled. Alpha growls as he fired a green ball of energy right into Onix's face. Onix cried out in pain as it shakes his head. "Use Vine Whip again and break out!"
"Saur!" Venusaur stretches his vines out and smacks them into Onix's face.
"Onix Sandstorm!" Kicking up the sand Onix has the fierce storm surround Alpha.
"Saur." Alpha stays calm from his training with Ash to not get overwhelmed.
"Alpha use Engery Ball and blast through it!" Ash said as Alpha fires a green orb blasting a hole in the storm. And outside the hole, he heard the impact and Onix roaring in pain.
When the storm stops we see Onix shaking off the attack while Alpha stood strong.
"And Venusaur gets out of Sandstorm is knocking Onix out of its concentration!" The announcer said.
"Impressive, but not good either. Onix, Dragon breath!" Drake said as Onix fired a purple bazy blast from his mouth.
"Use Light Screen!" Ash said as a barrier appeared in front of Alpha, decreasing DragonBreath's orignal damage power.
"Rock Throw!"
"Use Energy Ball!" Firing rocks and energy ball both attacks clash creating an explosion.
"Drake is handling himself really well." Tracey said impressed.
"Yeah even with fewer Pokemon he's keeping his cool." Tomo said.
"Now Onix, Dig!" Drake said as Onix began to dig underground.
"Alpha, quick use Frenzy Plant and stop Onix!" Ash said.
"SAUR!" Alpha roared as his body glowed green and vines began sprouting from underground on his command.
Before Onix got far enough Frenzy Plant grabbed it and yanked it out of the ground slamming it into the sand.
"Wow, Frenzy Plant is one of the world's most powerful Grass type attacks! Ketchum must be really powerful to get his Pokémon to know that!"
"Onix!" Drake said as Onix looked like he was down.
Ash smiles thinking he timed it right when suddenly Onix slowly started to get up. "What? But how?"
"How could an Onix survive that attack?" Tomo asks when Tracey gasps.
"The sand! The sand cushioned Onix's landing allowing it to survive the attack!" Tracey realized.
Drake felt relieved hearing that. "He hung in there."
"Oh no this isn't good." Ash cringed as Alpha felt the after-effects of Frenzy Plant.
"Onix, use Headbutt!" Drake said. Onix rams into Alpha, while it was recovering.
"Saur!" Alpha cringed in pain.
"Hang in there Alpha!" Ash calls out for him.
"Now Dragon Breath!" Blasting Alpha with a powerful green breath attack Alpha crashes into the sand.
"Venusaur.." He growled, trying to move.
"Alright Onix Skull Bash!" Drake said as Onix's body spins quickly charging in.
"Alpha!" Ash said. "Jump!" Snapping his eyes open, Alpha smacks all of his vines on the ground, leaping into the air, by giving him the right kind of boost.
He jumps right over Onix, who in return, falls into the sand.
"Venusaur!" Alpha lands on the opposite field, his body becomes surrounded by a green aura.
"Oh no not that." Drake gasps.
"Lookout folks, Venasaur's ability Overgrowth is kicking in!"
Overgrow: When a grass type Pokémon is at its limit, all of its grass type attacks are given a large power boost.
"Time to bring it on home, Alpha! Use Solarbeam!" Ash said.
Gathering up tons of sunlight Alpha began charging up for a super powerful attack.
"Onix quick, stop the attack!" Drake said as Onix fires Dragon Breath
"You can take it Alpha!" Ash said as Dragon breath hit Alpha pushing him back.
"Venus.." Alpha cringes as he vows not to lose focus on his last boost. "VENUSAUR!" And he finally fires Solar Beam as it overpowered Dragon Breath and right into Onix.
Roaring, Onix falls backwards crashing down with swirly eyes.
"Onix is unable to battle! Venasaur wins!" The ref declares.
"Through willpower and the help of a last minute ability, Venusaur takes the win!"
"Yes!" Tomo cheers.
"Way to go Alpha!" Misty cheers.
Alpha pants with a smile on his face, feeling victorious before falling over.
"Awesome job Alpha, take a good rest." Ash said returning him.
"You're Venasaur is pretty impressive, but this one is as well!" Drake said throwing out his Pokeball and from it Drake's own Venasaur appeared.
Ash takes a new ball out. "Alright I think you got enough stamina for this round. Go, Evlon!" Ash said bringing Evlon back on the field.
"And Ash's next Pokemon is Espeon! Hopefully Espeon is all charged up from its battle with Ditto."
"Venusaur, use Vine Whip!" Venusaur lashes vines towards her.
"Evlon, Protect!" Ash said.
Creating a powerful barrier, Evlon deflects the Vine Whip attack.
"Now use Pysbeam!" Ash said as Evlon blasts Venusaur with a mulitcolor energy beam.
"Use Petal Blizzard!" Creating a storm of cherry blossoms they made a barrier blocking the attack.
Evlon does a series of footwork to dodge them. "Vine Whip!" Swinging two vines, Venasaur whacks Evlon off balance and into the sand.
"Evlon, use Iron Tail on the sand!" Ash said.
Leaping up Evlon swings her tail throwing sand up hitting Venasaur. "Venusaur, Razor Leaf!" Drake said, but Venusaur fired them in an opposite direction.
"Oh no! Espeon's sneaky sand attack has blinded Venusaur!"
"Now Psychic!" Ash said as Evlon lifts Venusaur with her psychic abilities and brings him down harshly.
However thanks to the sand the damage was lessened.
"The sand is like a sponge, that's soaking in the damage." Tracey said.
"And Drake is really taking advantage of it." Tomo said
"Everything has to have a loophole." Misty said. "Ash can find a way around it."
Firing Petal Blizzard, it flies around Evlon trapping her. "Espeon.." Evlon was trapped.
"Double Edge!" Charging through the Petal Blizzard, Venusaur rams into Evlon.
"On!" Espeon cries out and rolls in the sand.
"Evlon!"
"Now it's our turn! Venusaur Solarbeam!" Drake said and like earlier with Alpha, sunlight started to gather.
Ash grunts. "Crap, Evlon use every once of your power and use Psybeam!"
Firing the multi-colored beam it smashes into Venusaur dealing super effective damage.
"Looks like Ketchum us using a last resort to confuse Venusaur from using its Solar Beam!"
Needless to say everyone was on the edge of their seats as Solarbeam finished charging up.
"Alright, now fire!" Drake points.
"Saur!" Fully charged Venusaur fires Solar Beam which flies towards Evlon.
"Evlon dodge it quick!" Ash said.
Acting quickly Evlon did the only thing she could think of before Solarbeam flew in creating a dust cloud.
Cringing all of them looked as the dust parted when seconds later Evlon popped her head out of the sand revealing she buried herself under it.
"Hoh-hoh! Ash's Espeon suddenly gotten out of Solar Beam's way by using the sand in her own way!"
"Yes! Evlon you're the best!" Ash smiles.
Evlon grins with pride. "I gotta say, that some unique way to dodge Solar Beam Ash." Drake says.
"I guess the sand can do more than just cushion blows." Ash said
"Alright then let's use this! Use Grass Pledge!" Drake announced.
Rising its front legs up Venusaur slams them down causing giant grass pillars to shoot out.
"W-what the?" Ash never seen this move before.
Evlon tried to dodge but the pillars circled her trapping her inside. And she was attacked by sharp leaves left to right.
"Oh no! Venusaur's Grass Pledge has trapped Espeon leaving her completely helpless to this fierce barrage attack!"
And to think Frenzy Plant was a powerful move.
When the attack was done Evlon falls to the ground in pain.
"Evlon!" Ash exclaimed.
"Esp..eon.." She whined.
Not being able to keep it up Evlon falls down with swirly eyes.
"Espeon is unable to battle! Venusaur wins!" The ref declares.
"And Drake's Venusaur brings Ash down another Pokémon!"
"That Grass Pledge was fierce. I didn't even know such an attack existed." Tomo said.
"Oh it is. There's 2 others to go along with it." Tracey explained. "Water Pledge and Fire Pledge."
Returning Evlon, Ash smiles. "Thanks for all the help. Get some rest. Torch I choose you!" Ash said calling out his fully evolved fire starter.
"And Ash's 5th Pokémon is the mighty Charizard!"
Seeing a familiar face Misty, Togetic and Tomo smile widely.
"Now this was a very smart call." Misty said
Torch spreads his wings out and sees Venusaur. "Alright Torch Flamethrower!" Ash said as Torch breathed a powerful fire attack.
"Dodge it!" Drake said as Venusaur dodges the attack and hits the sand. "Now hit Charizard with your Poison Powder!" Drake said, making Venusaur sprinkle a purple powder out of his flower.
"Fly up!" Flapping his wings Torch flew just out of the range of Poison Powder. "Now Steel Wing!"
With glowing wings Torch dove in at an incredible speed.
"Stop it with Petal Blizzard!" Venusaur knocks Torch off balance with the storm of cherry blossoms.
"Now Vine Whip!" Flinging a vine, Venusaur whacks Torch to the ground.
"Torch, Fire Spin on the ground!" Ash said as Torch breathes a trial of fire that burned the area near Venusaur, making the sand turn into glass.
"Saur." Venusaur said seeing it was trapped in a fiery glass ring.
Zooming out we see Mateo and Marissa watching this with Charmeleon.
"Now that's some fancy glass work." Mateo smiles.
"Chameleon is gonna be like that when he grows up." Marissa was super excited.
"I don't know Marissa, a Charizard might be too big for our little shop." Mateo chuckles petting his partner.
"Char." Charmeleon laughs.
Back in the battle..
"Torch, Slash attack!" Ash said as Torch roared, slashing Venusaur in the face with his sharp claws.
"Venusaur Petal Blizzard!"
"Flamethrower!" Breathing flames it burned a hole in the blizzard.
"Now Dragon Rage!" Ash said as Torch fires a fireball through it, which came into contact with Venusaur.
Tumbling backwards Venusaur slides back on the glass and crashes into the sand.
"Now grab Venusaur for a Seismic Toss!" Ash said as Torch flies in while Venusaur was incapacitated and grabs his heavy body.
"Venusaur break free! Poison Powder!" Drake said as Venusaur sprays Torch directly with the purple poder.
"Don't inhale Torch, hold your breath!" Ash says.
Closing his mouth, Torch spun Venusaur around and around multiple times before diving to the ground. He drops Venusaur, making a huge heap of sand dust and glass fly in the air. Torch flew down as he sees Venusaur in a dent with a dazed look.
"Venusaur is unable go battle, Charizard wins!"
"And he's some it! Ash has brought our champion down to his last Pokémon while he has four left!"
We now look on the screen to see Drake only has one slot left before the battle is all over.
"Challenger Ash is only one more battle away until he reaches victory and the Winner's Trophy, but longtime Orange League fans may already know this, Drake saved his best Pokémon for last!"
Ash and the others knew just exaclty what he means. "Get ready.." He tightened his gloved fists.
Drake unclipped a Pokéball from his necklace. "Well Ash I must say, this battle is turning out to be a fun one. You're the first one to actually manage to bring me down to my last Pokémon in such a long time. I thank you for that."
Ash gave a grin. "I like giving people a good challenge."
"The same with me." Drake smiles. "But let's just see how much of a challenge.." He enlarged the ball. "..this will be for you."
Ash then cracks his knuckles, while Torch gets his tail flaming blazinging higher then before. "Call him out." He said, meaning he was ready.
Drake throws the ball into the air, "The time has come, Dragonite!" He shouted as light exploded onto the field and they now see fully evolved Dragon type Pokémon appear before them as it bellowed.
"And there it is! Dragonite has arrived! This fierce and powerful Pokemon is the reason no trainer has been able to defeat Drake!"
Everyone cheered in awe seeing the Poekmon they've been waiting for.
'You may be my last Pokémon Dragonite, but with you the real battle starts now.' Drake smiles in his head as then Dragonite's face turned into a serious one.
Seeing this Ash and Torch flinched for a second before recovering.
"We can overcome this! Torch use Flamethrower!" Ash said as Charizard breathed flames.
"Dragonite Water Pulse!" Drake said as the water attack broke through Flamethrower with ease hitting Torch.
"And Dragonite hits Charizard, dead center!"
"It broke through Flamethrower so easily." Tomo gasps.
"Something tells me this isn't going to look pretty for either Ash or Torch.." Misty gulped.
"Torch, are you OK?!" Ash said as Torch growled, shaking his head. "Rahr!" He roared in anger.
"Alright use Steel Wing!" Taking to the sky, Torch flew in.
"Fly after it with Wing Attack!" Taking off like a jet, Dragonite flew in with its own glowing wings.
The two collided, however Dragonite is seemingly having the upper hand in power and strength.
"Slash!" Recovering, Torch flew in and scratches Dragonite across the chest.
Dragonite cringed, but stayed strong. "Dragonite, Ice Beam!"
"Fly away Torch!" Dragonite blasts an blast of ice, but Torch managed to avoid it in the nick of time.
"Don't stop until you hut that Charizard!" Drake says as Dragonite continued the assault of ice. Torch moved left to right.
Flying around the arena Torch bobbed and spun trying to avoid Ice Beam until one beam hit one of his wings causing him to plummet.
"Direct hit! Charizard's going down!"
"Torch pull up! Quick!" Ash yells.
Fighting through the pain, Torch pulls up avoiding a crash landing.
"Dragonite, Thunderbolt!" Drake said.
"Dragon Rage!" Firing an orange orb it flew past Thunderbolt hitting Dragonite.
In return, Thunderbolt striked Torch.
Falling to the sand, both Pokemon stand with Torch having a much harder time.
"Both Pokémon hit hard, but Dragonite is proving to be too much for Charizard!"
"Torch you have enough energy for the big guns?" Ash asks.
Roaring Torch nods saying they did.
"Then hit him with all your might, BLAST BURN!" Ash points.
Charging up Torch released a powerful red blast.
"Dragonite, Hyper Beam!" Drake said as Dragonite fires a large orange beam from his mouth as the attacks collide. Thus making a massive explosion.
"Incredible! A clash between Blast Burn and Hyper Beam has the whole stadium rattled!"
The trainers covered their eyes, so they wouldn't get caught up in the blast.
As the dust cleared both looked to see Torch and Dragonite standing across from each other panting heavily.
"Both Pokémon are still standing after an exchange of attacks; this match could be over at any moment!" The announcer said. And his assumptions was right, the one to fall over...was Torch.
"Charizard is unable to battle, Dragonite wins!" The ref yelled.
"And after that epic clash of attacks Dragonite emerges victorious! Look out folks, Drake is far from finished!"
Returning Torch, Ash looks at it. "You did great Torch and you did more than enough. Thanks to that attack you wore it out." Ash said as Dragonite started to pant.
Ash had to really earn it, if he plans to win the championship match. "Mystic I choose you!" Ash said calling out his Gyarados for round 2.
"Hydro Pump!" Mystic fired a stream of water out her mouth.
"Counter with Ice Beam!" Firing the blue beam it froze the Hydro Pump in midair.
"Thanks Drake, use Aqua Tail!" Ash said as Mystic swishes her tail around, smashing into the Hydro Pump blast, making chunks of ice hit Dragonite.
"Now Ice Fang!" Moving in Mystic bites down on Dragonite dealing super effective damage.
"Thunderbolt!" From close range Dragonite zaps Mystic as she was biting it.
She roars in absolute pain, before she was paralyzed. "Now give Gyarados a Body Slam!"
Flying in Dragonite rams its whole body into Mystic sending her crashing to the ground.
"Mystic!" Ash yelled, seeing her not get back up, as she was lying on her back.
"Gyarados is unable to battle, Dragonite wins!"
"And now Gyarados has fallen as well! Dragonite is picking off all of Ash's strongest Pokemon one by one!"
"This is getting bad.." Tomo gulped.
"Ash only has 2 Pokemon left." Misty gulps.
"She didn't have a chance." Tracey shivered.
Ash returns Mystic. "Thank you Mystic." He touched the ball with his head. '2 Pokémon left.' He thought, before bringing his other Pokéball out. "Go, Alpha!" Ash said letting Alpha out.
"And now Venusaur has made a comeback! Hopefully he's rested up from his battle with Onix!"
"I know your tired, but stay strong buddy." Ash said, as his Venusaur nods. "Use Vine Whip!"
"Dragonite, Ice Beam!" As Dragonite fired, Venusuar uses his vines to leap in the air. "This again? Not for long! Dragonite, fly!" Tunring around, Dragonite flies up and crashes into Alpha.
"Alpha, blast him in the face with Energy Ball!" Ash said.
"Saur!" Alpha blasted Dragonite in the face, knocking him off balance, making Alpha land back on the ground.
"Now use Power Whip!" Using his vines, each of them smacked Dragonite down to the ground.
"Now Leech Seed!" Firing a seed it hit Dragonite causing vines to appear draining Dragonite's energy.
Little by little, Alpha was regaining his health.
"Dragonite break free with Wing Attack!" With glowing wings Dragonite cuts the vines before flying in striking Alpha.
Good thing Alpha kept a little use of Leech Seed.
"Don't hold back! Frenzy Plant!" Glowing green Alpha released tons of thorny plants hitting Dragonite multiple times.
"And Venusaur gives Dragonite a taste of his own medicine with Frenzy Plant! Is it enough to take out Dragonite for the win?!"
Slowly getting up Dragonite fires an Ice Beam freezing Alpha in a giant block of ice. And inside the block, Alpha had swirls in his eyes.
"Venusaur is unable to battle, Dragonite wins!"
"Ooh guess Venusaur wasn't that powerful enough to fully defeat Dragonite." The announcer said as Ash returns him. "Drake has successfully defeated 3 of Ash's Pokémon with no trouble. Now each trainer is down to their final Pokémon!"
It's almost over, 1 more match and their will be a winner as well a loser. Ash's friends stayed silent as they were itching to know what will Ash's last Pokémon be, and will it be enough for the win?
Ash brings his last Pokéball out. "OK. You're all I got left." He looks to Dragonite and he was clearly panting. "Everything is leading up to you. So let's win this thing together." He smiles kissing the Pokéball, before throwing it. "GO!"
Out on the field...was a Dragonite!

"I don't believe it! Ash has his own Dragonite!"
That surprised Drake and his Dragonite as well.
"What?!" Tracey gasped.
"I don't believe it, he got Marine!" Misty stood up.
"Didn't see that coming." Tomo said dropping his jaw in shock.
Marine, looks to the Dragonite opponent in question and her face turned into a grin that Drake noticed.
"Ready or not, cause here we come Drake!" Ash said. "Marine, Extreme Speed!" Marine charges at Dragonite with quick speed, and crashes into him.
"Dragonite use Wing Attack!" Swinging his wings Dragonite swats Marine away.
"Dragon Claw!" Ash said. Extending her claw, Marine slashes Dragonite with a Super Effective attack.
"Dragonite use Ice Beam!"
"Dodge with Extremespeed!" Ash said as Marine dashed out of the way.
"Ash's Dragonite is one speedy one compared to Drake's. It looks like Drake's finally found the challenge for him and Dragonite at last."
"Dragonite Dragon Pulse!" Firing a powerful attack, Dragon Pulse flies in and knocks Marine out of Extremespeed dealing super effective damage.
"Hang in there Marine, use your Dragon Pulse as well!" Ash said.
"Thunderbolt!" Firing Thunderbolt it clashes with Dragon Pulse creating an explosion.'
"Your Dragonite may be faster Ash but mine has the edge in strength." Drake declares.
"Is that so? Well Marine has a balance of both, don't you girl?!" Ash yelled out as his Dragonite bellowed with agreement.
"Dragonite Ice Beam!"
"Marine use Thunder!" Flying in both Pokemon fire electricty and ice hoping to knock the other one off their game and win the match.
"Wow, they're evenly matched!" Tracey said.
"I can't tell who's winning." Tomo said.
"Let's just hope Marine can keep this up." Misty said.
"Dragonite, use Body Slam!" Drake said a Dragonite flies in head first.
"Steel Wing!" With a glowing metal wing, Marine blocks the attack but Dragonite moves in and grabs her by the neck.
"Now Slam!" Diving down Dragonite slams Marine to the ground.
"Ooh, Drake's Dragonite faked Ash's out with a brutal grand slam!"
"Now Thunderbolt!" Firing an electric attack straight down it zaps Marine while she was recovering. "Bo!"
"Marine hang in there! Stay strong!" Ash said as Marine slowly stood tall.
"Dragonite, Dragon Pulse once more!" Drake said as Dragonite charged up.
"Marine, fly up!" Ash said. Flying in Marine tries to evade Dragon Pulse when suddenly her body started to glow as a fierce dragon like aura surrounded her.
"Huh?" Ash asked.
"What is that?" Drake asked confused.
"I-I think that's Dragon Rush." Tracey gasps.
"Dragon Rush?" Misty and Tomo said in unison.
"Dragon Rush. A Powerful Dragon Type attack that allows to user to tackle the target while exhibiting overwhelming menace. It may also make the target flinch."
Ash had a big smile on his face. Marine pulled through and learned a new attack just for him.
"Alright, Marine, keep flying up!" Ash calls out. "Make that Dragon Rush bigger than ever!"
Hearing his words, Marine deflects Dragon Breath off of her, before roaring, boasting upwards to store more energy.
"Dragonite use Dragon Pulse!" As Dragonite flew up it releases Dragon Pulse that flew towards Marine.
"Dive!" Ash said as Marine dives.
"Gotcha!" Drake said as Dragonite flew in and grabbed Marine.
"Oh no! Drake's Dragonite has caught Ash's Dragonite in a headlock!" The announcer gasped in horror.
"This match is mine Ash, Dragonite use that momentum and Slam her to the ground!" Drake yelled as Dragonite goes down towards the earth.
"Marine Dragon Rush and fly up!" Surrounding herself with energy Marine breaks out of Slam and grabs Dragonite by the neck and slams it down in front of her making Dragonite hit the ground instead.
"Bo.." Dragonite groaned, rolling on his back. However, opening its eyes, it saw something horrible that made it gasp. Marine was aiming right at him with with a glowing bright blue aura.
"Dragonite, look out!" Drake gasped.
"FINISH IT!" Ash said.
"BO!" Marine screams as she came hurtling down like a meteor and onto the field. Which enveloped in a bright blue explosion.
Which shook the whole stadium.

Recovering from the attack, everyone looks down to the field to see Marine standing tall as Dragonite was on its knees.
Panting heavily Dragonite tried to stand but in the end it was too worn out and collapses to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Dragonite is unable to battle! The winner of the match goes to Ash Ketchum and his Dragonite!" The ref declared.
"It's all over! We have winner! The challenger wins the match! The challenger wins the match! Drake, the undefeated Supreme Gym Leader has been dethroned by Ash Ketchum!"
The entirety of Pummelo Island including all of the Orange Islanss exploded with loud cheers.
"He did it! He won the Orange League!" Misty cheers tossing Togepi up and down with joy.
"That's my brother!" Tomo laughs.
"I'm blown away by his power, he truly IS amazing!" Tracey smiles widely.
Ash runs up to Marine. "Marine you were awsome! We won!" he said and Marine happily roared and hugged her trainer, who laughs in return. "Hey, take it easy!"
Drake meanwhile had a look of distraught of his face, before he smiles. 'So it's over..' He thought before returning Dragonite. "You were great, I'm very proud of you old friend."
Not long after, Ash, Evlon, Mystic, Tank, Alpha, Torch and Marine were standing on a podium with Drake who was holding the trophy. "Ash has defeated the Undefeated Champion Drake and has won himself a spot in the Orange League Hall of Fame and the coveted Winner's Trophy!"
Walking up to him, Drake holds out the trophy for Ash.
"Congratulations, Ash. That was one of the best battles I've ever had. You and your Pokémon have truly earned this." Drake smiles handing him the trophy.
"Thank you Drake." Ash said before looking to his Pokémon around him. "And thank all of you guys too. Today.." Ash held up the trophy. "We're Champions!"
All 6 of Ash's Pokémon; cheered, roared in any kind of way, celebrating their first Pokémon League victory.
In the Palace of Victory, we see the picture of Ash, Evlon, Mystic, Tank, Alpha, Torch and Marine with their footprints and Ash's hand-print immortalized in concrete.
Their big battle will live in for all to see forevermore.
