Viva Las Lapras!
After becoming victorious in the Orange League Competition, Ash switched Marine for Voyage as they were sailing away from Pummelo Island. While Ash was still taking in his first League victory.
Misty turned to him and asked, "Ash are you gonna stare at your trophy all day?"
"Not all day, just a little longer." Ash said.
"Hey, keep that up and eggy might get jealous." Tomo said holding the egg out to him.
Ash sits around, "Hey come on, like a trophy can replace my love for taking care of baby Pokémon." He said putting the trophy away and holds the egg. "You know, I always wonder if the egg I get will be a boy or a girl."
"You didn't have much trouble figuring out Rune was a boy." Misty pointed out.
"That's because I can tell instantly about a Pokémon's gender." Ash said rubbing the egg. Spoken like a true Breeder.
"Wow Ash, how did get so good at raising Pokemon Eggs?" Tracey asks interested.
"It's a gift Tracey, you have your special talents and I have mine." Ash smiles proudly.
Suddenly, Voyage sense something makes a sharp turn; almost sending everyone flying off. "Gah! Voyage, what's wrong?!" Ash said catching the egg and trophy. He was heading somewhere and up ahead with an excited smile on his face. Looking up, Ash was surprised to see a more Lapras up ahead.
"Guys look, it's a whole school of Lapras!" He tells the others, who look over and were astonished.
"Amazing, I've never seen so many Lapras out like this," Tracey said quickly sketching some.
"Do you think those guys are friends with Voyage?" Tomo asks Ash.
"Yeah, maybe this could be the school he was separated from you know?" Misty asked.
"Maybe.." Ash recalled that Voyage was indeed stranded from its herd through a nasty storm and it was nervous encountering other humans. So maybe this was its friends and family that's it's been looming for all this time. "Guess we're finally about meet all your old friends big guy." Ash said patting his neck. "Wait till they see how big and strong you gotten from carrying us through the islands."
Voyage cries with joy as she tries to catch up to the school, but the second they look over to them they continue to swim as if he doesn't exist. There was a light blue Lapras in the school and it wanted to call out, but the other bigger Lapras made it ignore them.
"Hey what's with the silent treatment?" Tomo asks.
"I thought they'd be happier." Ash said as Voyage tried again, but the big Lapras released Haze covering them in a thick fog.
And sadly they were gone. "I don't get it, what just happened?" Ash frowns. Voyage began to cry, as he was treated like am outcast. Ash tried calming him down. 'There's just gotta be a reason as to why didn't react to us.' He thought sadly.
So, to seek answers, every one went to a nearby island called Tarroco Island at a Pokémon Center, where they dialed Prof. Oak and told him the problem.
"I see. I believe that the reason the Lapras did not interact with you was because they are afraid of humans." He deduced.
"But that doesn't make sense. In all the articles I've read about Lapras they're very kind Pokémon. What could possibly be the cause of all this?" Tracey asks.
Prof. Oak says that humans might be attacking them. Ash grew angered at that statement, "It's always some stupid losers hurting Pokémon.." He growls before slamming his fists on the desk. "They're the reason why Voyage was treated like some outcast to them. Who in there right mind would just bring harm to those Lapras?!"
"It was probably those poaching Pokémon pirates!" They see this island's Officer Jenny coming over.
"Officer Jenny? Did you just say pirates" Ash turns to her, calming down.
"The area around this Island is a no capture zone, but we've had reports of Pirates poaching wild Pokemon." Jenny said.
"Pirates are still a thing? I thought they were just funny bedtime stories." Tomo said.
"Trust me, these guys are far from any cute fairy tale. Their leader is Captain Crook; him and his crew are ruthless and they use their Tentacruel and weapons to corner and capture any Pokémon they can find." Officer Jenny explains.
"That's horrible.." Misty said enraged and disgusted, just as much as the others were.
"I bet I know who's behind this whole thing.." Ash said stating obvious.
"You mean there's others involved?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Have you ever heard of a group of thieves called Team Rocket?" Ash asked.
"They do stuff like this all time." Misty agrees.
"Hey!" They heard a familiar annoying voice. "You twerps got your speculation all wrong!" Looking in front of them, they see Team Rocket in casts and wheelchairs.
"Wow...wasn't expecting this." Tracey sweatdrops.
"What happened to you guys?" Misty asked.
"For your information we were attacked by said pirates." Jessie growls.
"They fired a cannonball right at our submarine." James said.
"And sent us right towards a cliff.." Meowth winced.
"So we actually have a real criminal on our hands." Ash said.
"Hey! We are real criminals you little twerp! Team Rocket strikes fear into everyone!" Jessie said.
"Is that so?" Officer Jenny narrows her eyes.
Cringing Jessie realized she just confessed in front of a cop. James and Meowth quickly covered her mouth. "Uh sorry about her, that explosion must've conked her on the noggin!" Meowth laughed nervously.
"Yeah she's delusional from all the brain damage! The poor thing." James said.
"I wonder if she actually has brain damage all this time." Ash whispered to Misty, making her snort.
"Well if she's as innocent as you say then you three won't mind me having a look at your files." Officer Jenny said causing them to panic.
"Uh on second thought, I feel better already." Jessie said quickly as they stood up.
"We'll be on our way officer!" James said as the trio scurried off, right through the glass wall.
Seeing this Tomo snickers. "Come on Tomo don't do that." Ash said trying to hold back his laughter.
Officer Jenny gave chase to Rockets. While they were out of the way, the group had to find a way to help the Lapras. "Okay if these guys use Tentacruel I'm gonna need some help." Ash types in his Pokédex and when the new Pokeball appears it burst open almost instantly.
"Pikachu." Pikachu shudders.
"Pikachu?" Ash said.
"Pika?" Pikachu said turning to Ash.
"You really hate those things huh?" Ash smirks causing Pikachu to smile. He quickly climbs up on Ash's shoulder.
"Pika Pika Pikachu." Pikachu begs saying to never do that again.
"Well how else would I send you home?" Ash said.
"Pikapi." Pikachu whines.
"Oh you are such a baby sometimes." Ash chuckles.
However while these two were having a friendly spat, the pirate poacher by the name of Captain Crook was going after Voyage's herd hoping to capture them all.
"Lapras off the starboard bow! And it's a whole school of'im. This should be a nice catch Captain!" One of Crook's shipmates announced.
"Alright, get the Pokéballs ready to fire, we'll launch our secret weapons and do us a little Pokémon poaching." Crook smirked.
"Aye-Aye sir!" His shipmate saluted.
Firing Pokéballs out of cannon's they released an army of Tentacruel to deal with with the Lapras. "Use your Poison Sting attack now!"
The Tentacruel fired, but the leading Lapras canceled it with water gun, giving them the chance to run. Crook ordered them to not get away.
Meanwhile Ash and his gang were back on Voyage, trying to find and make peace with the Lapras. Pikachu sees them from above Voyage's head. "Pika!" He alerts them.
"There's the Lapras!" Tomo said, and turns his head to see a ship chasing after them. "Hey what are they doing?!" Seeing them fire.
"Those gotta be those pirate poachers Officer Jenny told us about!" Misty gasped.
Tracey looked at his binoculars to get a real closer look. "Those aren't cannon balls, those are Tentacruel!"
"He's using the Tentacruel and cannonballs to bully them!" Misty said enraged.
Voyage yelled out to Ash, with a determined look on his face
"Don't worry Voyage, he's not getting away with this. We're gonna save them." Ash said equally determined.
F"I'm gonna get Officer Jenny." Tracey said, releasing Marill and Totodile.
"Tomo, Misty you think we can stall long enough for the Police to show up?" Ash asks.
"Aboslutely." Tomo nods.
"Anything to help Water Pokémon in need." Misty nods.
Opening Pokeballs, Kabuto and Seaking swam out alongside Voyage. First they gotta deal with the Tentacruel.
Swimming in with Aqua Jet, Kabuto cuts them off.
"Kabuto use Mud Shot!" Tomo said as Kabuto blasts them in the face.
"Seaking, Horn Drill!" Misty said as Seaking speeds through the Tentacruel with her spinning horn, knocking them back.
"Now's our chance Voyage!" Ash said as they raced in.
Little did they know Team Rocket was back in their submarine following them. And they were eager to get a first glance of Captain Crook, getting his ass handled to by the twerps.
Up ahead the Larpas tried to escape but bursting out of the water, the Tentacruel completely surrounded them.
"Voyage, I know we haven't done much battling but I need you to help save your family." Ash said as Voyage nods. "Use Ice Beam!"
Firing a blue beam Voyage blasts multiple Tentacruel from behind. The Tentacruel all gotten his attention. "Hey Tentacruel, over here!" Ash yelled as Lapras fired in their faces.
"Hey!" Captain Crook said as his ship pulls in. "How dare you attack my Tentacruel! Who do you think you are?!"
"We're saving the Lapras from you ya lardass!" Ash snapped at him.
"You're not laying a finger on them!" Misty snaps.
"Hardly. You little brats aren't getting in the way of my boun—" Before he could finish Tomo's boomerang hit him in the face.
"You talk so annoyingly." Tomo grunts as it flew back in his hand.
"That's it! Ready the cannons!" Captain Crook snaps.
"Aye aye sir!" His lacky said as they fired cannonballs at them.
"Incoming!" Tomo yells as Voyage swerved to dodge.
The Lapras saw that they were the same humans from earlier. Even though they treated them badly, they were willing to risk their lives for them.
The light blue Lapras looks to Voyage with worry in its eyes. "Pikachu zap those cannonballs with Thunderbolt!"
"Growlithe Ember!" As the cannonballs flew in both Pokémon attack making some blow up in midair while the rest flew in.
"Tentacruel, use your Supersonic!" The Tentacruel raised their tentacles into the air and gets a flaming blue aura.
Cringing in pain, Voyage was stopped in his tracks making them all sitting ducks. "Now sting those little punks with Poison Sting!"
As one charged in, Team Rocket was literally right in front of it. But before Team Rocket had time to react the Tentacruel rammed into them and blasted them off.
Without any more obstacles, the Tentacruel moved in with Poison Sting.
Voyage let out a cry and suddenly multiple Ice Beams flew in freezing all the Tentacruel.
"What?" The trio saw that it was the Lapras herd that saved them! Smiling Voyage looks to see the light blue Lapras move in so happy to see him again.
"Voyage, is that your mom?" Tomo asks as Voyage smiles happily.
"That's so sweet." Misty smiled.
"Yeah..but there's still one more." Ash said turning his gaze to Captain Crook's ship.
"Oh no. My Tentacruel are ice sculptures." Captain Crook panics. Suddenly Totodile appears behind him and bit Captain Crook causing him to scream.
"Ow! Hey I am not a codfish you little runt!" Captain Crook snaps trying to shake him off.
"Ash, guys!" They see Tracey on the police boat, waving to them.
"It's Tracey!" Misty smiles seeing he made it back in time.
"Captain, the marines are here! What do we do now?!"
"Get us out of here you idiot before I-I..." Looking around he grabs a hook and holds it up. "I'll hang you from the crow's nest by this hook!"
"Eek! Aye aye sir!" Running to the wheel, the lackey spins it causing them to swerve out of the way before trying to sail away.
"They're getting away!" Misty said.
"Not if I have anything to say about it. Voyage Ice Beam on the sails!" Ash said as Voyage fired Ice Beam freezing the sails before they shattered causing the ship to stop.
"No! Curse you!" Crook said swinging his hook around.
Their Pokémon swam up towards the ship and the heroes climbed aboard. "Your reign of Pokémon poaching ends here Crook!" Ash said.
"Never! I'd sooner lose my own hand than go to jail!" Crook said shaking his hook at them. Pikachu leaped up and zapped him causing Crook's hook to act as a lightning rod zapping him.
"Scurvy...brat.." He coughed up smoke, and he falls over.
"Captain!" His lackey gasped, before looking around they saw the ship was surrounded by Lapras and police boats. It was over.
Soon the police boats were loading up the tied up pirates..along with Team Rocket. "Untie us! How could you lunk us in with those scummy scurvy scavengers?!" Jessie snapped.
"We weren't even part of the scuffle!" James said
"And to think, I was rooting for you!" Meowth said.
"Aw that's very sweet Meowth," Misty smiled.
"But it dosen't clear you guys up for your other comments from earlier," Tracey grinned, making the TRio yell out, wanting to explain themselves, but it wasn't gonna work out.
Misty turns to the Tentacruel. "Now you're all free to go wherever and whenever you want." She said, making the jellyfish Pokémon smile at this. All of the hopped into the water and swam away.
Nearby Voyage was smiling nuzzling necks with his mother. They were finally reunited.
"Well Ash we got Voyage back to his family." Tomo said.
"Yeah..." Ash pauses not liking what he had to do next.
Slowly Ash walked up to him.
"Voyage, you're finally home. I...I'm happy but I'm also sad. Our time wasn't long but I had a great time traveling with you. You were a part of the team and a great friend." Ash sniffles. "When I met you, you were scared and all alone, but now you're able to take care of yourself and your family. I'm happy for you."
Voyage looks to Ash, with a similar sad look on his face and remembers when he was first found by Ash.
-Flashback-
"See I'm just gonna sit right here." Ash said sitting down near Lapras. "I'm not gonna do anything to hurt you." Ash said holding up his hands as proof.
Tilting its head Lapras looks at Ash curiously.
"You don't have to be scared of me Lapras. I'm not like those jerks on the beach. I just wanna be your friend."
Reaching into his pocket, Ash pulls out a few pieces of Pokemon food. "Here have some."
Slowly Lapras moves towards Ash and looks closely to see if anything was about to happen.
"Come on, it's made by my friend Brock. All of the Pokémon love it, and I know you will too." Ash gave a kind smile.
Moving in Lapras took a bite of one and a smile appears on his face. As Lapras ate a big smile appeared on his face.
"Feel better now?" Ash asks.
"La." He nodded, saying thank you to Ash.
-Flashback end-
"La.." A tear shed from his face, but Ash wiped it away.
"H-hey..you're a not a baby anymore. St-strong Pokémon like you don't cry." Ash said trying his best not to cry as well.
Nearby Misty, Tracey, Tomo and Togepi were sniffling at this sad goodbye.
"Hey, don't forget me okay. I won't forget you." Ash said giving Voyage a big hug.
"La." Voyage said nuzzling him.
Ash rubs his neck and then finds himself singing a soft tune for those around him to hear. He closed his eyes and began to sing.
Farewell to thee,farewell to thee.
The wind will carry back our sad refrain.
One last embrace, Before we say..
Ash's voice cracked lightly as he stopped on the last note. Pikachu rubs his head, wanting him to continue.
Until..we meet again.
As a tear drops down Voyage's eyes he slowly pulls back and his Pokéball releases a blue beam signifying his release.
"Get outta here." Ash sniffles with a smile.
"Lap." Voyage smiles swimming over to his mother.
"Hey, take good care of him." Ash said as she nods saying she would. They now watch the Lapras horde now swimming away from the boat.
Once they were at a faraway distance, Ash finally let the tears run down his eyes, as he silently cried while his friends comforted him.
"I'm gonna miss Voyage too Ash." Misty said.
"It was hard, but you did the right thing." Tracey said.
"I-I know..but it just hurts so much to say goodbye.." Ash wipes his tears. After all, Voyage is the first Pokémon Ash ever released.
Reaching out Tomo took his hand.
"Maybe we'll see him again someday." Tomo said.
"I hope so Tomo. I really do." Ash said as they watched Voyage swim further and further away until he disappeared into the distance. "We should go home too." He said wanting to go back to his mother.
Yes it was Ash. It was time to finally head back to Pallet Town as their Orange Island adventure has successfully came to a close.
Back To Pallet Town, The "Sight" of a new Adventure!
On the outskirts of Pallet Town, the 3 of them arrive to see Ash's hometown in the distance.
"Pallet Town." Ash sighed. "Home sweet home."
"I can't wait to see mom again." Tomo sighs.
"And I bet Prof. Oak will be very eager to see the GS Ball." Misty said causing Tracey to tense up.
"Uh you good Tracey?" Ash asked.
"I'm finally going to see Prof. Oak's lab and show him my research. Oh man this is a dream come true but I'm so nervous." Tracey gulps.
"Hey lighten up." Ash pats his back. "I'm sure Prof. Oak is gonna love your ideas Trace."
"Yeah, if there's one thing I've never seen Prof. Oak did was reject ANYTHING that had to do with Pokémon." Misty backed him up.
"And besides, we've seen your research. You got this." Tomo said.
Tracey inhaled deeply and exhaled. "Alright, I'm gonna do it!" He said triumply. "I'm gonna show Prof. Oak all my hard work and effort that'll soon make me into a Pokémon Professor!"
"That's the spirit Tracey!" Ash smiles. "Let's head to my house first. I wanna show my mom alot of the stuff I got in the Orange Islands." He said as they all headed down tne trail, but little did they knew, Jigglypuff was right behind them.
In the distance, we see the others heading Ash's house when they see all of Delia's Pokémon working in the garden. "Hey you guys!" Ash called out. Each of them happily called out and waved to them.
Looking for the more recent one, they see Saint happily laying in the garden.
"Hey look who it is." Tracey smiles.
"Saur." Saint smiles as Ash pets him.
"Nice to see you guys, how you been?" Ash asked bending down to greet them as they chatted happily.
"Hey are these more of Ash's Pokémon?" Tracey asked.
"No, these belong to his mother." Misty explained.
"Well she's really done a good job. All of them look so healthy." Tracey said looking at them.
After greeting them, Ash opened the door and shouts, "I'm home!"
"Hey Ash!" A familiar voice said.
That voiced gotten surprised looks from everyone aside from Tracey. Heading inside, they went into the kitchen to see their old friend Brock wearing an apron.
"B-Brock?!" He exclaimed in surprise.
"Wha Brock?!" Misty and Tomo gasped.
"Brock?" Tracey asked confused on not meeting this guy before.
"Hey welcome back you guys." Brock said greeting them." Togepi," he said picking him up.
"Togepri!" The baby replied happily to see him.
Brock looks to Tracey. "Hey you must be Tracey?" He said surprising him.
"Uh yeah, how'd you knew that?" He asked.
"I heard about you from Prof. Oak's calls, nice to formally meet you." Brock said before showing a table of fruit, cake and tea. "You guys must be starving on your way back here, so feel free to chow down."
"Wait a second! What are you doing here?!" Misty asks.
"Yeah I thought you were staying on Valencia Island." Tomo said.
"What happened to helping those girls and Prof. Ivy?" Ash asks and immediately Brock slumped down in fetal position.
"That...That name..."
"Brock, what's wrong?" Ash asked confused on what he's doing.
"I don't wanna talk about it.." Brock said sounding like he got punched in the gut.
"All I said was what happened with Prof. Ivy did she-" Ash was cut off by Brock groaning loudly. "What?! What's wrong with you?!"
"That name...!"
"What did she do to you?" Tomo asked, never seeing him act like this.
"I don't wanna talk about it!" Brock said defiantly.
"Oh no." Misty facepalms.
"You don't think that he..." Ash points.
"Most likely." Misty sighs.
"What? Most likely what?" Tracey asks confused.
"This always happens." Misty sighs
"You see Brock really likes to flirt with girls." Ash said.
"How does that turn out?" Tracey asks.
"Mostly with either Misty pulling his ear or Tomo hitting him with his boomerang." Ash said.
"Are you gonna be OK Brock?" Tomo sweatdropped
"No.." Was all Brock said.
"Ash?" Looking to the door, Ash saw Delia, Mimey and some of her Pokemon entering the house.
"Mom." Ash and Tomo smile. And just like that, Delia dropped everything and hugged them both tightly. "You're home!" She said with joy.
"We missed you mom." Ash smiles.
"Oh I'm so happy to see you two again." Delia smiles.
"So did we. Look I got a Growlithe." Tomo said showing Delia Growlithe.
"Growl." Growlithe smiles.
"Well look at you. Aren't you a little cutie." Delia said when she noticed Pikachu next to Ash. "Ash?"
"Oh yeah Mom this will really shock you, but Pikachu and I patched things up." Ash said.
"Pikachu." Pikachu said with a nod.
"I don't believe it." Delia said blown away.
"Me neither." Brock said lifting his head up snapping out of it.
Ash picked him up. "Yup it's true." He said. "Also, I got another surprise." He smiles pulling out his new Pokémon egg
"Whoa, a new Pokemon Egg." Brock said standing up.
"Yep, this little fella is due to hatch any day now." Ash smiles.
"My Ash, already taking care of baby Pokémon." Delia said. "My Ash, you've become..so mature and responsible."
"Thanks mom." Ash blushes by the praise.
"It's good to see you really milked being in the Orange Islands as best you could." Brock said.
"Sure did..though there's I gotta know. Mom how did Brock get here?" Ash asked. Delia hummed as she recalled it.
It was a week ago in the evening when Delia and Mimey were leaving the market when they stepped on something or someone who's collapsed on the floor. When they found out it was Brock, they took him home and nursed him back to health. "I tried to ask him what happened, butevery time I mentioned Professor Ivy, he would do the same fetal position over and over again."
Once she stopped asking, Brock has been a big help with chores around the house.
However soon chores came to be a competition as Brock was constantly doing battle with Mimey and the other Pokemon for the right to do errands and chores.
Ash sighs, seeing his friend was being like this..that's when..he felt something. "Huh?" Looking down he saw his egg start to move.
He gasped. "G-G-guys..guys!" He said getting everyone's attention. "The egg!" He shows them how it's moving. Gasping everyone watched as Ash pulled the egg out of the container.
"Oh my goodness this is amazing." Delia said excited to see this with her own eyes.
"I'm actually going to see an egg hatch before my very eyes." Tracey made sure to not let his eyes go anywhere else besides the egg. Ash holds his egg to his chest.
"It's OK little one. I'm right here." He sooths the egg as its light expanded around the room as it morphed into a small shape. As the light die out, we see in Ash's arms a light blue feline lion cub with a black rear; a small tuft of hair on its head It has large, oval ears with yellow, star-shaped markings on the insides, yellow eyes, and a tiny, red nose.
It's little ears perk up and let's out a small yet cute yawn.
"It's so cute." Delia smiles.
"Wow I've never seen a Pokémon like that before." Brock said.
The new Pokémon looked up to Ash, who couldn't stop smiling. "Hi there. Welcome to the world new world." He said before petting its mane. Making it smile and purr.
"Shinx." It meows out.
"Ooh what is it?! What is it?!" Misty said squealing with glee. Ash takes his PokéDex out.
"Shinx, the Flash Pokémon. Electricity is produced by the extension and contraction of muscles in this Pokémon's forelegs. Excited trembling is a sign that Shinx is generating tremendous amounts of electricity."
"A Shinx, wow that's quite the gift. Another electric type is perfect for you Ash." Tracey said.
"Thanks." Ash said picking Shinx up. "You're gonna love it here." He said nuzzling the baby Pokémon.
"Shinx." Shinx meows happily.
"So what are you gonna name him?" Brock asks.
"Hmm how about...Hikari?" Ash suggests.
"Hikari? Ash that's a girl's name." Misty said.
"Well yeah. It's a girl after all." Ash said already figuring out its gender.
"Really? How could you tell so quickly?" Tracey asks surprised.
"Instincs with parenting I guess." Ash shrugs.
"Well how about you take this little girl to Prof. Oak's lab? That'll give me time to get the house ready for dinner to celebrate." Delia suggests.
"Oh speaking of celebrate." Ash reaches into his backpack and pulls out his Orange League trophy. "Have a look at this."
"Ash, that's amazing." Delia smiles as Ash handed it to her.
"I want you to have it." He says.
"I'll find the perfect spot for this." Delia assures.
After giving Delia the trophy and leaving the residence,the all headed down the trail to the lab.
"I hope Prof. Oak has a few starters. I would love to do notes comparing the differences bewteen Totodile and Squirtle." Tracey said.
"Hey maybe Prof. Oak can assist you with that." Ash suggests
"Well Ash, Brock and Misty have Squirtles of their own." Tomo said. "Maybe you can study them alot."
"I hope so, Prof. Elm always said how amazing his mentor was. I just wish when I was in the Orange Islands I went to see Prof. Ivy's lab." Tracey said causing Brock to groan.
"That...name.." He was in the fetal position again.
"Wow mom wasn't kidding." Tomo sweatdrops.
"Is this gonna be a permanent thing from now on?" Ash sweatdrops.
Shinx looks at the weird boy on the ground and tilts her head.
Arriving at the lab, Ash opens the door.
"Hello. Prof. Oak are you here?" Ash calls out only to not see anyone.
"Is he not here?" Tracey asked.
"Doubt it. Yes always around in the lab." Ash said. Holding onto Shinx, Ash decides to look further, but just as Ash passed a hallway, he was tackled by something which made him yell. Shinx was knocked out of his arms.
"Ash!" Everyone gasps only to see Grim had trapped under him.
"Ugh hey Grim. Good to see you too buddy." Ash groans trying to break free.
"ShinxShinx!" Shinx panicked, misleading into thinking her daddy was in danger. So she tried ramming into Muk, but because of its goopy body, it wouldn't do well.
"It's OK Shinx, I'm fine. Grim just does this all the time." Ash tried calming her, managing to pry some of himself off of Grim, as did someone. It was Prof. Oak, who was finally getting some air. "Professor Oak?"
"Ash good to see you. Although I wish under better circumstances." Prof. Oak groans.
"Grim, get off please!" Ash cried out trying to free himself and the Professor.
Scrambling both managed to get out.
"Ugh I swear Grim you're going to crush me one of these days." Prof. Oak said.
Shinx jumped into Ash's arms, completely worried for him. "It's ok, it's ok. I'm fine." He said calming her down.
"Now where did this Pokémon come from? I don't recall this one." Prof. Oak said.
"She literally just hatched we arrived in town." Ash said. He introduced him to Shinx.
"Incredible." Prof. Oak said in awe.
"Be careful, she's barely an hour old." Ash said.
"Hey P-Professor. It's been a while" Tracey said nervously.
"Oh Tracey, Misty, Tomo good to see you both again." Prof. Oak said noticing them.
"It's good to see you again." Tracey said.
"I see you've done a great job with Totodile." He noticed.
"I-I sure have. Though still having trouble on finding him the right trainer though." Tracey admitted.
"Things like that can take time. Please come in." Prof. Oak said leading them into the lab.
"Oh Professor before I forget." Ash said handing him the GS Ball.
"Took a while but we finally brought it." Misty said.
"Finally. I can't wait to begin working on this." Prof. Oak said.
He placed the GS Ball into the tray of Pokéballs from other trainers.
"Wow, all of these belong to the Pallet Town Trainers?" Tracey asked.
"Most of these were sent by traveling trainers who started out here in Pallet. Maybe you'd like to take a little tour?" Prof. Oak suggests, in which Tracey agreed.
Leading him out back, Tracey was blown away by all the Pokemon in the fields.
"This is incredible. I've never seen so many in one place." Tracey said.
"What was Prof. Elm's lab like?" Ash asks.
"Well held onto Pokémon but Prof. Elm mostly specialized in the research area like reports, not field work." Tracey said. Another area where him and Oak differentiate.
"Would you like to come with me and learn some field work?" Prof. Oak offers.
"I would love to." Tracey smiles.
Tomo then asked if Ash had seen any of their Pokémon around the area. Putting Hikari down, she slowly started to follow behind them.
When they spotted Diamond and Sly, she was slowly nervous but when she stepped back she bumped into something.
"Shinx?" Looking up Hikaru saw Bastet looking down at her.
"Pur?" She asked if Shinx was OK.
"Shinx." Hkari said in a scared tone.
Slowly Bastet moved in and tried to help the little girl feel safer.
As Bastet patted her on the head Hikari seemed to calm down.
"Persian." She smiled. She must it's a bab cub.
"Wow when did Bastet become a mother figure?" Misty asks.
"Pokemon learn behavior from their trainers." Prof. Oak smirks looking to Ash.
"And I'm not insulted in the slightest." Ash said fully embracing it before petting Bastet. "Bastet, this is Hikari. She just hatched not too long ago."
"Per." Bastet said getting the picture.
"Mind helping Hikari feel welcome?" Ash asks.
Nodding Bastet gently nudged Hikari gesturing for her to follow. Hikari looks to Ash, who in return nodded. Saying it was alright. "Shinx." Hikari said running after Bastet.
"I think she's gonna fit in just fine." Ash smiles.
"Pikachu." Pikachu nodded.
"Hmm?" Prof. Oak sees Pikachu on Ash's shoulder. "Well now, it seems like something else might have happened on the Orange Islands?" He asked them.
"Oh well..you could say that from now on, I'm gonna be counting on Pikachu's help for a long time." Ash said.
"You don't say." Prof. Oak said surprised.
"Yep, Pikachu and I are a team now." Ash smiles.
"I must say Ash I'm very impressed. I never imagined you would be able to come this stage." Prof. Oak said.
"Nobody did."
"Yeah well Pikachu finally stepped up for me and I'm grateful he did." Ash smiles rubbing Pikachu's forehead.
Now that's a mature trainer moment. However the moment was suddenly ruined by a giant tent being put over the entire lab.
This also gotten the attention from Shinx and Bastet who were nearby.
Not to mention just outside the tent, Jigglypuff was walking up to it and tried to get in, but to no avail.
"What's going on here?!" Ash said.
"Looks to me like some sort of circus tent." Prof. Oak when they hear laughter from above.
"Prepare for trouble it's time for the show."
"Make it double and look out below."
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all people's within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie!"
"And James!"
"Team Rocket performing well at the speed of light!" Jessie jumps through a flaming hoop.
"Surrender now or prepare for a show stopping fight!" James said snapping a whip like a lion tamer.
"Meowth that's right!" Meowth said jumping in dressed like a clown.
"Team Rocket!" Everyone said.
"I thought I never would see them again." Brock said.
"Hey the big twerp is back." Jessie noticed.
"I thought the twerps said he was staying on Valencia Island with that Prof. Ivy." Meowth recalls.
Suddenly, Brock disappeared from his original spot and was found on the tightrope, holding a parasol. "That..name.."
"Hey that's mine!" James yells.
"Forget the Parasol! We'll just help ourselves to these Pokemon!" Meowth said.
"No way!" Ash glared and goes for a Pokéball, but jumping over Ash was Bastet. "Bastet?"
Meowth's eyes widen. "Oh great not you again!" Bastet replied back with an a snarl back at the loser cat.
"Shinx." Hikari said worried and nervously.
"Don't worry Hikari. Bastet can handle these guys." Ash said determined.
"I Choose you Lickitung!" Jessie said throwing her Pokémon out.
"Victreebell go!" James said calling out Victreebell and instantly it bit down on his head. "Let me go! Please!"
This battle should he says enough. "MukMuk!" Grim came over to Ash.
"You wanna battle too?" He asked.
"Muk!" Muk nods.
"Lickitung Lick!" Jessie said.
"Bastet dodge and use Slash!" Leaping out of the way Bastet slashes Lickitung with her sharp claws.
"Victreebel, Razor Leaf attack!" James said finally getting Victreebel off of him. Victreebel fired multiple leaves out, but they bounced right off of Grim's body.
"Grim, use Sludge Bomb!" Ash said as Grim fired mud balls which pelt Victreebel in the face.
"Shinx." Hikari said amazed seeing her first battle.
"Lickitung Body Slam!" Charging in Lickitung rams into Bastet.
"Iron Tail!" Hikari saw Bastet recover easily and slams her metallic tail onto Lickitung. "Now watch this Hikari, Thunder!"
Bastet's fur fizzled up, and she lets out a roar which sends a huge blast of electicty onto Lickitung. Looking at her in awe, Shinx was blown away.
Bastet had literally just become her idol.
Outside of the tent, Jigglypuff was still trying to get in. "Jiggly.."
That's when a shadow was hovering over her. "Puff?" Turning around, she saw someone hidden under dingy, patched-up cape.
Back inside, James ordered Victreebel to use Sleep Powder.
"Grim use Gunk Shot!" Spitting up a giant chunk of garbage it lands in the opening atop of Victreebell stopping Sleep Powder.
"Bell!" Victreebel screams grossed out beyond belief.
"My word, who uses garbage as an attack?!" James covered his mouth.
"Uh you guys every time you make a dumb robot." Ash said.
"No way, our machines come from high quality material!" Jessie covered her mouth. "Arbok, Wrap and squeeze that cat!" Leaping in Arbok lunged at Bastet wrapping around her.
"Bastet!" Ash gasps. He was about to get Grim to attack when suddenly Hikari ran out.
"Shinx!" Hikari yells.
"Hikari?!" "Rar?!" Ash and Bastet exclaimed.
"Ooh what's that?" James asked. Hikari was about to rush in when Meowth stopped in front of her.
"Nya listen furball. Don't make me mad or I'll have to hurt ya." Meowth said readying his claws.
"Don't Hikari, get away!" Tracey said.
"They're too much for you!" Misty said.
Stepping back in fear Hikari was nervously staring down Meowth.
"Taste my Fury Swipes!" Meowth said lunging in.
"Per!" Bastet yells.
Roaring electricity emits from Hikari as she uses Spark zapping Meowth and Abrok allowing Bastet to break free.
"My a Spark attack." Prof. Oak said surprised.
"Shinx?" Shinx quickly ran to Bastet and asked if she was OK.
"Persian." Bastet smiles nuzzling her in thanks. Making the cub smile, nuzzling back.
"Meowth, what happened?! How can you lose that easily to a pipsqueak?!" James said.
"It surprised me! I didn't know what it could do!" Meowth snaps.
"At this point what can you do?!" Jessie snaps.
"I'll tell you what I can do-plan B!" Meowth said pulling a remote out.
"Plan B?" Eveyone asked before Meowth presses a button. From the top of the tent from their balloon, a giant vacuum appeared in front of Team Rocket.
"What is that?" Ash asks when suddenly cables were thrown out tying them all up.
"We're gonna clean you out!" Meowth said pressing a button and the vacuum began to suck all the Pokeballs out of the lab including the GS Ball.
"The Pokéballs!" Misty gasped.
"The GS Ball!" Ash shouts in horror.
"Finally, we can now tell the boss we managed to scoop up a whole bag of Pokémon for him!" James laughs.
"Let's just hope some of them are the twerp's rare ones!" Jessie laughed.
Ash growled, "Bastet!" He said as Bastet snarled trying to sharpen her claws, but Meowth hopped on her.
"Ah don't even bother doll-face! This time, this cat has the upper hand over YOUR species!" He smirks, making Bastet give him the glare of death.
Suddenly something from the outside ripped a giant hole in the tent. Sending Jigglypuff, the tent flying away in the process and bringing Team Rocket's balloon down. All of the Pokéballs were sprung free.
"What's going on?" Ash said before seeing hooded figure nearby next to a Nidoqueen. Taking off the cloak, they revealed themself to be a boy wearing a brown jacket with a black t-shirt, white pants and brown boots, but what made him familiar was his spike auburn hair and voice.

"Go Nidoqueen!"
"Gary?!" Ash was surprised to see his rival back in town.
"Lickitung Lick!" Jessie said as Lickitung attacked.
"Grab it!" Gary said as Nidoqueen grabs the tongue and swings Lickitung into Team Rocket knocking them to the ground. "Now Mega Punch!" With a glowing fist, Nidoqueen punches Victreebell sending it crashing into them.
"Muk.." Grim managed to slitter out his cable.
F"Grim get us out of here." Ash said as Grimm broke the cables freeing them.
"Just when you think one twerp is bas enough, another one just had to be around the corner." Jessie said getting up.
"You know Bastet was not happy about how you guys acted around Hikari." Ash points out.
"Huh?" Team Rocket asks.
"Pokemon can get very protective when one they care about is threatened." Tracey smirks as Bastet was walking towards them growling.
Making them all cling together in fear. "Uh n-n-nice kitty.." James whimpered.
"M-M-Meowth that's your evolved form. Talk it out with her.." Jessie whimpered.
"Uh...would you take an apology card?" Meowth whimpers.
Ash's Persian roared, leaping at Team Rocket with attacks like Night Slash, Iron Tail, Shock Wave, Fury Swipes and Power Gem.
Screaming in agony, from the dust cloud Team Rocket sprints away with giant scratch marks on their faces.
But they weren't finished yet. "Nidoqueen, Hyper Beam!" Firing a powerful orange beam it hit Team Rocket before they could escape sending them flying.
"And so ends another day of brutal beat down after so close of winning.." Jessie said
"Speak for yourself. I got beat by a Pokemon not even a day old." Meowth said.
"I guess the old saying is true..big things come in small packages.." James mutters.
"Looks like Team Rocket's Blasting off again!" They shouted and disappeared into the sky.
"Hey Grandpa, you alright?" Gary asked him.
"I sure am, and it's great you came Gary." Prof. Oak smiles.
"All of the Pokéballs are safe Professor." Tracey said having collecting them all up.
"So is the GS Ball." Ash smiles showing it, before looking to down to Hikari nuzzling Bastet who had a big smile on her face. "Bastet, you really showed Hikari how tough a mother can be." He grins.
Bastet looks surprised by the word, 'mother'. She looks down to Hikari. "Shinx." She purred nuzzling her. The Persian grew a sweet smile and held her close.
"Been a long time Gary. Haven't seen you since the Indigo League." Ash said.
"Gary has been pushing himself hard with his tough training schedule." Prof. Oak said.
"I'll say from the way your Nidoqueen took out Team Rocket quickly, it's gotta be extremely powerful." Brock said.
"I see you've been busy as well." Gary said.
"I just won the Orange League." Ash nods.
"And he just beat the undefeated Champion for 5 years." Tomo said. "That's alot to work for."
"Not bad but if I hadn't stepped in. Things might have gotten ugly." Gary smirks.
"I could have stopped them." Ash said.
"Then how come you were tied up?"
"They did that out of cowardice just when I was just about to finish them off." Ash answered.
"Is that right?" Gary pauses. "You know...we never did get to have our battle back in the Indigo League." This gain Ash's attention.
"Oh yeah never got the chance." Ash recalls.
"Clearly you and I aren't the same trainers who competed back there." Gary said.
"Not by a long shot." Ash said liking where this is going.
"I-is what I think is about to happen?" Misty blinked.
"You don't think?" Brock asks.
"What do you say you and I have a battle Ash?" Gary challenges.
"You're on." Ash said surprising them.
"Fascinating, the first battle between the two of you." Prof. Oak said, wishing to see how this plays out.
"How many Pokémon do you wanna use?" Ash asks.
"As much as I would like to do a full 6 on 6 battle. I suggest we save that for when we compete in another League. How about one on one?" Gary suggests
"One on one sounds fine with me." Ash nods.
On the side of the lab on a flat area, Ash and Gary faced off and the others stood by to watch.
Ash was wondering who to choose, til he spots Pikachu nearby. "Pika?" He asked if he could battle.
"Alright." He nods. "The Pokémon I'm using is Pikachu!" He runs up to plate.
"Pikachu, and I thought you hated those things." Gary said surprised.
"Times change Gary, my latest journey showed me a powerful lesson I'm never forgetting." Ash said.
'Well I'll be.' Gary thought, seeing his rival overcoming his vendetta against Pikachu. He didn't show it, but he had a smile on his face. "Alright, then I choose you!" He throws a Pokéball and out comes an Eevee.
(Pokémon Anime Johto Rival plays)
"Whoa Gary has his own Eevee." Misty said surprised.
"And look at that shine on its coat. You can tell Gary has trained it very well." Brock points.
"He's right, and it looks like it's ready to evolve into any of its forms at any moment." Tracey said.
"Makes you wonder who's gonna win?" Tomo said. Nearby Bastet had Hikari watch the battle, so she'll see what she's going to do one day once she grows up.
"Alright, I think we should get this match underway." Brock said stepping up as the referee. "This is a one-on-one Pokémon Battle of Ash's Pikachu Vs Gary's Eevee with no time limit."
"I don't know what you've been up to Gary, but I'm not losing here." Ash states.
"Neither am I, Ash. I've been wanting to beat you since day one." Gary said.
"What's the deal with these two? Ash wasn't even this pumped when he faced Drake." Tracey said.
"That's because Ash and Gary have been rivals since before they were trainers." Misty said.
"Really?" Tracey looked shocked.
"Trainers at the ready?" Brock asked as they both nodded. "Begin!"
"Alright Pikachu Quick Attack!" Ash said as Pikachu charges in at an incredible speed.
"Eevee Reflect!" Gary said as Eevee made a barrier cutting the damage in half.
"Pikachu, use Thunder Wave!" Ash said as Pikachu released a small electric blast at Eevee, in hoping of paralyzing it.
"Destroy it with Swift Eevee!" Gary said as Eevee fires a stream of glowing stars as they pelt into the electicty, making an explosion. "Now use Tackle!"
"Eevee!" Eevee leaps out of the smoke and crashes into Pikachu, knocking him backwards.
"Pikachu, Flash!" Pikachu's body was engulfed in light, blinding Eevee. "Your Eevee's quick, but it won't be able to see clearly! Iron Tail!" Ash said.
Pikachu's tail glowed before smashing it onto Eevee harshly. Tumbling backwards, Eevee growls getting back up.
"Pikachu Iron Tail one more time!" Ash said as Pikachu charges in.
"Mine might not hit but yours are about to get weaker! Eevee Baby Doll Eyes!" Eevee looks at Pikachu with cute big anime eyes causing Pikachu to stop in his tracks.
"Pikachu, what happened?" Ash said.
"Pikachu." Pikachu said drawn in by the cuteness.
"Now Iron Tail!" With a glowing tail, Eevee smacks Pikachu while he was still distracted.
"Baby Doll Eyes is from the newly discovered Fairy Type category." Prof. Oak said.
"A new type?" Misty asked.
"Yes and it's a very tricky move, by using a Pokemon's cuteness it can weaken your opponent's attack." Prof. Oak explains.
"That sure fits Eevee." Tomo admitted.
"Now Swift!" Firing multiple stars they pelted Pikachu making him fall backwards.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!" Firing a bolt of electricty it broke through the remaining stars and zapped Eevee.
"Eevee Shadow Ball!" Through the pain in Thunderbolt, Eevee managed to fire a Shadow Ball, in which striked Pikachu.
"Come on Pikachu." Ash said as Pikachu stood tall.
Staring each other down, both Pokemon and trainers weren't going down just yet.
"Not bad so far Ash." Gary said complimenting his rival.
"Same to you Gary." Ash said.
"Am I seeing things or did those two actually complement the other?" Misty said.
"I thought they hated each other." Brock said.
"They don't." Prof. Oak getting their attention. "They're acknowledging each other's strength and skill."
"Really?" They asked.
"That's the beauty of Pokemon Battles, even the most hated of enemies acknowledge all the effort and training the other has put it in." Prof. Oak said. Panting both trainers could see their Pokémon were on their last leg.
They knew they needed to put everything into this next move.
"Eevee, finish this with Take Down!" Gary said as Eevee charged.
"Pikachu, use Double-Edge!" Ash said. Pikachu had a glowing aura around him while charging at Eevee.
The two Pokémon met in the middle with one striking smash.
Flying backwards both Pokémon felt the recoil damage and crashed to the ground.

Seeing neither of them gotten back up Brock called it, "Pikachu, Eevee! Both unable to battle! This match is a tie!"
Running over, Ash and Gary help their Pokemon up.
"Pikachu are you okay?" Ash asks.
"Eevee can you stand?" Gary asks.
"Pika.." Pikachu groans, shaking his head.
"Vee.." Eevee groans, managing to stand up.
"Well Gary, I guess this means we'll have to settle this again later." Ash said.
"Looks like it. This ain't over Ash-y Boy." Gary smiled.
"Not by a long shot." Ash smiles.
"I'll have Eevee all healed up before you go." Prof. Oak said.
"Thanks grandpa." Gary said handing Eevee to him but when he did he also handed Prof. Oak a small business card.
"What's this?" Prof. Oak asks.
"Found this during my training. Don't say I never did anything nice for him." Gary said walking away.
Looking at the card, Prof. Oak's eyes widen. "I don't believe it. Ash come with me."
"What is it Professor?" Ash asked.
"Something you've wanted for a long time." Prof. Oak said leading them inside.
"Whoa Prof. Oak what's going on?" Ash asks.
"Gary gave me this. It's a card for a very well known Eye Surgeon for fixing damaged eyes." Prof. Oak declares shocking them.
"Wait you mean..." Ash said not even being able to finish the sentence.
"Ash..I think it's time for you to finally get what you always wanted."
"I...I...I could see out of my eye again?" Ash asks getting weak in the knees.
"Ash this is incredible." Brock said.
"Call him! Call him right now!" Misty urged.
Ash felt like he was going to burst in tears. "Gary...thank you."
Needless to say when Delia heard about it she was ecstatic.
When they called the doctor, he started to explain the procedure.
"So Ash by using laser eye surgery we can slowly remove the damaged area of your eye that prevents you from seeing and with the procedure we can carefully replace the damaged part of your eye while leaving the parts that still work intact." the doctor explains.
Ash nodded, saying for him to continue.
"However I must warn you of the risk. If you go through with this surgery there's a chance that your eyes will be damaged beyond repair." The doctor said.
"Wait if I go through with this and fail...I could go blind?" Ash asks shocking everyone.
"I know this is a lot to take in but the choice is completely yours." The doctor said.
Ash was scared. What should he do? Should he go along with it and possibly see through his eye again, or if all fails, be blind for the rest of his life.
"Ash?" Delia asks worried.
"Being a trainer is all I've ever wanted to be. If I do this I'll finally get my eye back, but is it worth risking this?" Ash asks.
"This isn't about your dream Ash." Brock said as they walked up to him. "Right now this is about you. You've wanted this for so long."
"But what if something goes wrong?" Ash asks.
"The same could be said with everything we've done. What if you lose the League? What if you fail on your journey? But that never stopped you." Misty said.
"I.." Ash stammers.
"Ash you're scared." Tracey said.
"Of course I'm scared! If this goes wrong I'm done as a trainer! I want this more than anything and I'm freaking out!"
Everyone can see Ash is really hesitating on this.
"Ash...take the operation." Delia said surprising everyone.
"Mom?" Ash said surprised.
"When you were in your accident I was terrified. I wanted to keep you home and never let you leave again, but when I saw you overcome your accident and fight in those leagues...you took my breath away. You overcame this nightmare because you loved being a trainer more than anything in the world. You took a huge risk and you came through. Now I'm saying if this can give you the chance to see again I say you should go for it Ash." Delia said.
Ash listened to her words, and couldn't help but feel some tears come out. "Mom.."
He felt his mother hug him, "I promise you sweetie. You're going to see us all again."
With that, Ash was soon brought to the hospital for the surgery, but because it would take time for his eyes to be adjusted everyone had stayed in Pallet Town for 10 days while they healed which sadly made a new competition between Brock and Delia's Pokemon...taking care of Ash.
"Come on Mr. Mime, I got this! Ash has been my friend way longer than any of you!" Brock said trying to grab the tray.
"Mime! Mime!" Mimey said.
Nearby Ash was laying down with bandages over his eyes with Tomo and Misty nearby.
"I'm glad you can't see this." Misty sweatdrops.
"How you feeling bro?" Tomo asked.
"Well nothing hurts which is a plus but it's kind of boring seeing nothing but darkness. How's Tracey doing?" Ash asks.
"He's doing well. Prof. Oak and him have been talking all day." Misty said.
"He's really living up to his dream. How's all of my other Pokémon?" Ash asked.
"Very good, Small One and Pikachu are starting to get along now and everyone else is helping take care of Hikari." Tomo said.
"Really? The Pokémon are finally loving Pikachu now?"
"Apparently seeing you accept him led the others to give him a chance. Of course, Talon and Mystic are still keeping an eye on him." Tomo said.
"Well I'll take it. Better than them all hating him." Ash said.
"But I know all of them are still worried about you." Misty said holding his hand.
"Here you go Ash. Nice hot soup." Brock said trying to pull but when Mimey tugs he slips and soup drops on top of Mimey's head.
"Mime!" Mimey screams causing them to laugh.
"Okay now this I wish you could see." Misty smiles.
"What? What happened? Oh man." Ash pouts, missing out on the fun.
Back at the Oak Laboratory...
Prof. Oak and Tracey were running tests as they had stacks of books by them.
"And what do you think?" Tracey asks showing him the paper he wrote.
"Very impressive work Tracey." Prof. Oak smiles reading it.
"Really? Well I stayed up all night writing these." Tracey said.
"The story of 2 Pokémon. One who flies in the golden skies while one swims through the silver seas." Prof. Oak summarizes it.
"They're the Legendary Pokemon of Johto. Trainers would give anything to learn about them." Tracey said.
"I say you're way ahead of them now." Prof. Oak said.
Thanks Prof. Oak. And Totodile is certainly enjoying himself." Tracey said looking at him. "You know, come to think of it, in a day or two, it's around that time back home when some trainers get their first Pokémon."
"Oh yes, Prof. Elm must be preparing for that." Prof. Oak said.
"Yeah my best friend Jimmy is going to get his soon. I wonder which one he'll pick?" Tracey said.
"Either one, from the sound of it, your little friend sounds like a young and excitable young man."
"Oh yeah, and you should see him when he plays Billiards. The guy is a whiz with a pool cue." Tracey said.
"He's a gambler?" Prof. Oak raises an eyebrow.
"Nono, he just does it for fun." Tracey reassures.
"That's a relief. So tell me more about things in Johto." Prof. Oak said.
As Tracey inform him on some stuff, we head outside to where all of the Pokémon are, specially all of Ash and Tomo's.
In an opening, Hikari was standing with Pikachu and Small One as they showed her electric attacks trying to help her.
"Shinx.." She growled releasing a small Spark.
"Pika Pika." Pikachu said showing her how to build up electricity. His and Small One's cheeks sparkled.
"Pikachu." Small One points to Hikari's tail.
Following their instructions Hikari raised her tail and started to charge. So Shinx's electricity surged through their tails. Firing Spark it was now much stronger than before.
The two Pikachu gave Hikari two thumbs up.
Smiling Hikari looks to Bastet who nods proudly.
A week had gone by before Ash was brought back to the hospital and everyone was nervous.
"Alright Ash, time for the moment of truth." The doctor as he slowly undid the bandages.
Slowly Ash opened his eyes but when he did he could see...out of both eyes. Blinking in shock Ash covers one eye and then the other before smiling widely.
"It worked...it worked!" Ash smiles happily.
Finally a whole year, Ash had both of his eyes back!
Cheers were heard from his friends and family, happy for Ash to be his old self again.
That night, all of them were celebrating at Ash's house with a big dinner.
"To Ash and his successful surgery." Prof. Oak said raising a glass.
"Here, here!" They all clinked glasses.
"I'm not gonna lie it's gonna take some getting used to. Now that I can see out of this again." Ash smiles.
"I knew you would do fine Ash." Delia said.
"It's great to know people won't look at you with fear anymore." Misty said.
"Well these scars around the eye might still be a little scary." Ash said touching them.
"Oh I'm sure they won't pay it no mind, why I say it's hardly noticeable." Prof. Oak said.
"Because you're used to seeing these Prof. Oak." Ash rolls his eyes.
"Besides I think you cooler now." Tomo said.
"Thanks Tomo." Ash said taking a bite of the food. "Wow Brock amazing."
"It's nothing too fancy." Brock said.
"You must have found a new cookbook when you were with Prof. Ivy." Misty said before covering her mouth realizing what she said.
Everyone looks over and saw Brock away from the table, sitting in the corner. "That name." Brock groans.
"Should we try finding Brock a therapist?" Tracey asks.
"I think he's beyond help at this point." Misty sighs.
"So um, Ash now that your Orange Island quest is over, do you have any plans on wherever you wish to go?" Prof. Oak asks, changing the subject.
"Hmm..you know I haven't. Too busy with the whole eye thing to figure out my next adventure."
"Well what you tried going to Johto?" Tracey suggests. "You're just coming on the time when new trainers start their journeys and I bet you would love it."
"We have been hearing about it alot." Misty recalled.
Ash thought about the suggestion. "You know, that sounds like a great idea. Going to a new region sounds awesome," He agreeing to the sight of a new adventure.
"I had a strong hunch you would say that," Delia said before smiling. "That's why while you were recovering, I made both you and your brother some new clothing for your journeys," she said as Videl and Saint handed him and Tomo some presents.
"Aww thanks mom." They smiled, thanking her and the Pokémon.
"And I've gotten just the thing for you Ash which will help you on your way." Prof. Oak pulls out a red rectangular device with an antenna.
Taking it, Ash turns it on and his face appeared on screen.
"THIS UNIT BELONGS TO ASH KETCHUM OF PALLET TOWN."
"I've upgraded it so it will give you all of the information of every Johto Pokémon you'll encounter." Prof. Oak. "But unfortunately because of it's new hardware, I couldn't fit the portable transporter in here, so I'm sorry."
"Aw, well it was fun while it lasted." Ash said. Guess it's back to using the PC. Small price to pay.
"So Misty interested in tagging along with me and Tomo?" Ash asks.
"Do you even have to ask?" Misty smiles.
"Count me in." Brock said recovering from his trance.
"What about you Tracey?" Ash asked, but he shakes his head.
"Thanks Ash, but I think I want to stay in Pallet Town for a little while and study under Prof. Oak this time." Tracey said.
"Wait you don't mean?" Tomo asks.
"Yeah Prof. Oak asked me to come aboard and learn as his assistant." Tracey smiles.
"That's great! Though I wish you were coming with us, but I had a feeling you might end up staying here." Misty said.
"He sure did surprised me with his ideas, notes and theories. I have a feeling with a little more hard work, I could show him just what it takes to be just like me along with Prof. Elm." Prof. Oak smiles.
"Way to go Tracey, you earned this." Ash smiles.
"Thanks Ash and don't worry I'll take good care of your Pokémon for you." Tracey said.
"Speaking of which, there's a few Pokémon I wanna bring with him. Ash said looking to Bastet, Pikachu and Hikari eating nearby. "Two of them are Pikachu and Hikari."
"Well I'll make sure they're up and ready for you tomorrow Ash." Prof. Oak says. Soon everyone enjoys the rest of the party.
Later on that night...
Ash was in his room while nearby Tomo and Growlithe were sleeping. He looks out of his window. "The Johto Region. No doubt doubt about it, there's gonna be a Pokémon League there." Ash said before pets Pikachu and Hikari. "And I want you guys to be there with me."
"Pika/ Shinx." Both Pokemon smile happy to help.
Pausing Ash lays in bed.
"I bet that's where Gary's heading as well." Ash said eager for a rematch with him.
Even though Gary seemed like he hated him he actually went out to find this doctor for him. Gary of all people had helped him see out of his eye again. Guess deep down Gary considers Ash his friend.
'Good ol' Gare-bare.' Ash snickered, using the nickname again. That's when something clicks in him. "Oh yeah. Now that I think about it, Pikachu." Getting the mouse's attention. "I think now you're ready for that nickname."
"Pika?" Pikachu asks.
"Every single one of my Pokemon has a nickname so it's only right that you have one as well." Ash said.
He began thinking of something. That's when he recalled Pikachu saving Ash from Articuno's Ice Beam by overpowering it with Thunderbolt. "How about..Raijin?"
"Pika." Pikachu smiles loving it.
With happy thoughts; Ash, Hikari and the now nicknamed Raijin rested for tomorrow's departure.
The very next day...
Everyone were now in front of the house, ready to say goodbye. And Tomo along with Ash were both sporting new outfits.
Ash is wearing a black and white sports short sleeve hoodie above a split orange and white sky redshirt. The pants are rolled up cutoffs. He wore black fingerless gloves with a blue trim. Bright red sneakers and his banana he's been wearing was off his head, instead he has on a pair of black and silver goggles while leaving his head bare. He had a new green backpack with only one strap around him.
Tomo was wearing a yellow t-shirt, still had his black pants amd now wore yellow and black striped wrist bands with a new bandana that has an emblem of his loincloth along with a new backpack.
"Thanks for the clothes mom, we love them." Ash smiled tightening his goggles.
"Not bad guys." Brock said as they noticed he had a new look as well.
Brock wore green, orange and gray collared shirt, pewter colored pants with the same color of his shoes and green backpack.

"Not bad Brocko, where'd you get that?" Ash whistled impressed.
"My folks made me these for my birthday last month. I figured now's a good time to wear him." Brock smiled.
"Looks like I'm not the only one." Walking out they see Misty wearing blue shorts and a yellow sleeveless jacket. "My sisters sent me this a few days ago." She said who they also notice Misty gotten rid of her ponytail as her hair was down as she wore red spherical earrings.
(Same clothes from Pokémon Chronicles while her hairstyle resembles herself from Pokémon Adventures GSC.)
"Not bad Misty, and I like the hairstyle." Ash said impressed.
"Thanks, thought it was time to get rid of the ponytail and be a new me." She giggled.
"Toge!" Togepi loved his mother's look.
"Guess we're all ready to go?" Ash asked as Raijin and Hikari were on either side of his shoulders, making him smile.
"Wait Ash," Delia stopped him. "There's one thing I want to give you." She said with hands behind her back.
"What is it mom?" He asked curious as she revealed to him a red hat with a black stripe going down and inside was a custom symbol shaped into an "A". "A-a hat?"
"I thought maybe..maybe you'd like you give the hat another try?" Delia asked hopefully. Ash looks to it with wonder.
The last time he ever wore a hat was his old Pokémon League Expo hat, and that was nearly 2 years ago around the..incident.
"It's your decision honey. You don't have to wear it," Delia said.
Although he liked the bandana, it made him serious and a new him..but deep down he kinda missed his old self. He sighed and smiled, 'What the hell?'
Taking off his goggles, he places his hat under his hair, and places his goggles on the the front of it. "How I look?" He asked.
(Imagine it like Gold's in Adventures)
He's gotten thumbs up and smiles from those around him. Saying they loved it.
"Ash." Prof. Oak asked. "Before you leave, I have a big favor to ask of you."
"Sure what?" Ash asks when Prof. Oak takes out the GS Ball. "The GS Ball?" Ash asks surprised.
"While you were recovering from surgery I ran every test I could but nothing seemed to work. I couldn't get it open." Prof. Oak admits surprising them.
"You couldn't?" Everyone said.
"Unfortunatly no, but in Azalea Town in the Johto region, there is a man named Kurt who is an expert on all things Pokeball related. I'm asking you to take the GS Ball to him and see if you can find out more." Prof. Oak said.
"Kurt huh?" Ash asked taking it.
"And Ash, I went to the lab and brought the Pokémon you asked for." Tracey said taking out two Pokeballs. "Rattle and Ebon are all ready to go."
"Awesome thanks Tracey." Ash said taking them.
"Oh and I almost forgot, can I see your Pokégear?" Tracey asked as Ash hands it to him and inserts something inside. "There you go."
On screen, a new map was shown.
"I've updated the map function so now you got a whole map of the Johto Region. Now, I say head out to New Bark Town southwest of Viridian City." Tracey advised.
"Southwest got it." Ash nodded.
"Oh and Ash one more thing, if you see Jimmy, can you tell him I said hi?" Tracey smiles.
"Your friend from Johto?" Ash recalls.
"Yep, he should be starting in New Bark Town any day now. In fact, I actually sent Totodile to Prof. Elm's lab. Can you make sure he got there okay?" Tracey asks.
"Of course. I'll be sure to call you every once in a while Tracey." Ash said.
"Good luck Ash." Tracey said as they shook hands.
"Hey Prof. Oak. This guy is an amazing lab assistant. I hope you know that." Ash smiles.
"Oh trust me I do." Prof. Oak smiles.
Delia then brings her sons together for one more hug. "I'm going to miss you both so much, don't you and your brother get into trouble Ash and don't worry about what people say about you know what?" She said ruffling his hair.
"Thanks mom and I won't." Ash said.
"And remember boys don't forget to brush your teeth and change-"
"We know!" Both said quickly stopping her.
Some things never change.
Heading out, Ash and his group say goodbye to their friend Tracey and family before heading off to Johto.
A new start in a new region filled with new Pokemon, new friends, new challenges and who knows what else.
End of Orange Islands Arc
FINALLY! After months of procrastination, I'm done with the Orange Islands and time to head to Johto! This time prepare to see some new takes and differences from my original version.
The next time I update I will post Johto in a new story so Every one would get caught up.
