It all started out as a regular day. Diamonds needed help, revisiting friends, nothing out of the ordinary. So why is this strange device Steven's holding glowing all of a sudden?

...

It all started out as a regular day for Steven and the rest of his friends. He was still out on his road trip while the rest of the Crystal Gems, excluding Connie who was still preparing for college, stayed in the temple. With his mental health steadily improving, thanks to his friends, family, and therapist, Steven continued on his drive as he would with any other day. He was currently still on the road, driving to his next stop. He had heard of the Big Canyon nearby and had shown interest in wanting to check it out as the locals in the area had shown a great deal of interest in it's presence, though he had his doubts that it could compare to the kindergartens or other worldly planets he had seen and grown familiar with since his youth. As he made his way to pull off on a side road for a quick stretch, his phone rang. Looking at the device, he saw that Connie was calling, much to his surprise. He hadn't expected her for another few hours when she had planned a break from her studies. Without hesitation, he answered the phone.

"Hey Connie, what's up?"

"Hey Steven. Just checking in real quick, seeing where you were at. Pearl and the others invited me to come to Homeworld with them for a bit and they wanted me to ask if you could join too."

"Homeworld? What's going on there?"

"Nothing too crazy. Apparently the Diamonds are looking to go through their storage room. Something about looking through old devices or something like that. They asked if we could help them out."

"Huh, guess even former monarchs have to spring clean every now and again. Yeah I think I can make it. It's been awhile since I've seen either the Gems or the Diamonds. Let me find a spot to park the Dondai and I'll let you know when I'm ready for Lion."

With an agreeance, the two young adults hung up. Soon after, Steven found a truck stop with some extended parking for cars nearby just down the road. As he locked up the vehicle and sent out a text to his friend, it didn't take long for her and Lion to show up through the familiar portal.

"Hey buddy. Thanks for getting me." Steven said as he pet the large cat, who responded with a quick huff. "Hey Connie."

"Hey. C'mon, everyone's waiting on us."

"By the way, you sure your good with going?" asked Steven as he mounted the pink feline. "Aren't you starting school here soon. Can't miss out on all this prep time you know."

"Yeah, well I decided that spending some time with my friends wouldn't be such a bad idea. I think I can afford it if it means catching up with you and the Gems. Social life is just as important as studies after all."

"Heh, fair enough. I'm glad to see you either way."

With this, Lion transported the two into the temple, where Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl awaited the two.

"Hey guys. I'm back." Steven said as he announced the two's return. As the group rushed to greet the young man who had been away for sometime, Steven looked around the home. "Man, you guys haven't changed much huh?"

"You should see your former room." said Garnet.

"Why? What'd Dad do to it?"

"Let's just say it doesn't quite look the same as the one you knew." said Pearl.

"Yeah, turns out the old man really likes having his own bed and everything. We had to literally drag him out of there for the first week or so." said Amethyst.

"Speaking of which, where is he? Figured I'd get to see him before we left."

"He's been gone all day. Said something about running into town to restock the home. The Diamond's contacted us about an hour ago, so he doesn't know." explained the purple gem.

"We'll be sure to leave him a note though. We're trying not to disappear on the random for days anymore." said Pearl.

It did Steven's heart good to hear that they were taking his feelings into consideration. Although he had no doubt of their abilities to care for others, they weren't perfect either as he could recall several times, both from his childhood and during his time with Little Homeschool, where they wouldn't return home for hours, or sometimes even days because they were so busy.

After a moment, Pearl wrote a note and left it on the table for the man. With this, the group decided they were ready and departed via warp to Homeworld. After sometime, they arrived just outside the palace. Seeing that they weren't going to be greeted, which was odd, but not unwelcome to the group as they didn't feel like dealing with Spinel's antics immediately on arrival, they decided to let themselves into the building. As they made their way into the throne room, everyone saw Yellow and Blue Diamond present, with White and Spinel nowhere to be seen.

"Hey guys. Been awhile, huh?" said Steven as he announced their arrival.

"Oh, hello Steven. Yes, it has been sometime now." said Blue.

"Good to see you Steven. We were beginning to worry you had forgotten about us." said Yellow.

"Yeah, sorry it took so long for me to get back here. Got a bit involved with my travels on Earth. Not too many warp pads around for me to use you know." he said as he thought of a quick reason, as he wished to avoid another lecture of 'them being his family too and that he should visit them as well'.

"Well, we're glad to have you here now. Please, if you'll join us, we can get started immediately as this will take sometime. The storage room is just down the hall here." said Blue.

"So where's White and Spinel?" asked Pearl as the group began to move down the nearby corridor.

"Yeah, not too often we see either of them away from you two, especially White." noted Amethyst.

"White had planned to meet up with some zircons earlier. Apparently they've started looking into our history and requested her assistance in getting the full details. Spinel joined her so that no one would get bored as she recalled the details. You know how White can be. Once she starts explaining something, she won't stop as long as there are details left to tell." explained Blue.

"Right. Needs to ensure everyone gets the point and is on the same page. That sounds like her alright" said Steven.

Now arriving at a large door, Yellow hit a button on the side, which led to the opening to become available to the group.

"So, what exactly is the plan here? Are we looking for anything in particular or is this a general spring cleaning?" asked Steven.

As the two diamonds attempted to silently figure out the meaning of 'spring cleaning', they both avoided asking about it and chose to answer the question. "We're going through the objects here." Yellow said as she presented the group to the lines of artifacts and devices within the room. "Most of these were placed here as failed devices, prototypes, or artifacts that never kicked off or were upgraded into something more modern, like this here" she said as she reached out for the nearby device. The object was small and appeared to be a cylinder of some kind. "This is an old version of the rejuvenator. Before we had the one you all are painfully aware of, we had this. It still did it's job, though the effects were proven to be much more temporary. They usually wore off after a cycle or two unlike the newer model where we don't usually have to worry about the effects wearing off. Anyway, we are looking over these devices and figuring out if any are truly active anymore. Most of these should be deactivated, but there is bound to be a couple that are still active." As to prove her point, she moved to activate the device she had, which activated on the press of the button as a large scythe had formed from the small object. "Those are the ones we're looking to identify. Should you find any, please try not to use it. I'm sure I speak for us all when I say we'd rather avoid another conflict of any kind. Once you find a device, let one of us know. We're trying to gather up the working pieces and separate them from the inactive ones. Although our armies are much more barren now than they used to be, we still try to keep up our research center and develop new technology, though these ones are a bit less harmful to gems than their predecessors."

Seeing the group's agreeance, they began to spread out. As time went by, devices and artifacts alike came and went without much incident, aside from Amethyst finding an old destabilizer. Once she found it was active, she accidently tested it on herself when it struck her arm while turned on. Thankfully, it didn't poof her form, but her arm had become that similar to a wet noodle as the device had caused it to go limp. Apparently this model didn't poof gems, but made the gem on the receiving end feel what seemed to be alike that of a human's body part going numb as if it were slept on all night. After sometime, her form returned to it's normal state. Not much else was found after, at least not until Steven came across a strange artifact. The object in question looked like an old scroll, though one that was rather larger and heavier than it seemed it should be versus that of a normal scroll.

As he grabbed the artifact, he opened it slightly to find some small writing on the first page. Without opening it the rest of the way, he looked at the symbols, only to find that he couldn't read it as it certainly wasn't english or any form of gemglyph he knew, which wasn't much.

"Hey guys, over here. Think I found something." As the rest of the group crowded around him, Yellow seem surprised at the object. "Hmm, that's odd."

"What is it Yellow?" asked Blue.

"I don't recognize this artifact. If it's a form of gem equipment, then it must be an older model, or maybe even something we picked up during our travels back in the century."

"I think your right Yellow. I recognize the text on it. It's definitely a form of gemglyph...though it seems to be a much older version we used to use. We aren't even using some of these letters anymore in our current version."

"Can you read it Pearl?" asked Garnet.

"Yes. Thankfully, I've spent sometime familiarizing myself with other versions of our language. Hang on, let me get a good look at it."

As Pearl observed the text, she noted it's unusual usage of lines, dots, and dashes. "It says 'Seek...Out...Paarthurnax. Hmm, that's odd. Definitely not something or someone I've ever heard of."

Before anyone could respond however, the device began to glow. As it did so, it began to envelop Steven and the others, who couldn't react in time to move away from the activating object. Reacting to the expanding glow, Blue and Yellow stepped back as it continued to grow. After expanding several feet, it suddenly stopped in it's tracks. As the two diamonds listened to the wails of the group, everything suddenly started to grow quiet. After listening to the cries of everyone in the device's immediate area, the two began to hear less as the room suddenly became quiet. As the glow died down and disappeared, the two giants found that the artifact, along with the Crystal Gems, had disappeared without a trace, leaving the two to wonder what happened to the group. Unbeknownst to them, the group of five were being transported into another realm, one of magic and legend, a land known as Skyrim.

...

Hey all, welcome to the mess I've decided to start up. Here with have my take on what if the SU main cast found themselves transported to Skyrim, where they become the main cast of that and it's storyline. Fair warning for the time being, updates might be a bit slow (thinking weekends rn unless I manage to get ahead). I work like everyone else and am working on finishing another fic first and foremost. Once that one finishes though, updates should come much quicker and more often.

Got inspiration to make this as I recently started Skyrim back up on my down time, plus I saw a couple fics between the two series (one of which being 'Skyrim Imported Sword and Shield'...it's pretty good IMO. Go give them a view as well if you will. Everyone appreciates growing support!). Looking forward to the story I'm planning here.

Thanks for the read guys, hope everyone's having a good day, and I hope to see you all in chapter 2 where we catch up with the Gems.
