The First match is over." Croquet announced. "Yugi Muto will advance to the next round."
A holographic screen appeared over the dueling arena showing Mai and Yugi's pictures before Mai's was blacked out.
"Alright right, way to go, Yugi." Joey cheered.
"Great duel." Tristan remarked.
"We knew you pulled through." Sonia added.
'I couldn't have done it without everyone's help.' Yugi thought before Yami Yugi changed back into normal Yugi.
The sound of clapping caught their attention, they turned to see Pegasus standing up and clapping. "Congratulations, Yugi-Boy, you really know how to put on a good show."
"What a creep." Tristan commented.
Yugi didn't say anything as he frowned. "Enjoy this while you can Pegasus, the only reason I'm here is to rescue my mother and grandfather, and once I beat you to get them back, you won't have anything to chuckle about.'
Pegasus just smirked before sitting back down. "Proceed," he told Croque.
Croquet nodded. "The second match of these playoffs will begin shortly. Bandit Keith will battle Joey Wheeler. Prepare your decks."
"Alright?" Joey said, sweat dripping down his face.
"Joey's you're going to do fine." Bakura said.
"That's right, don't worry." Tea smiled.
Joey sighed but smirked. "Thanks, guess I'm kinda tense."
Suddenly Tristan wrapped his arms around Joey's neck. "You got reasons to be worried, Keith's one of the best card hunters, I mean the guy makes a living winning tournaments like this."
Tea and Bakura both gave nervous grins while Sonia just sighed, they were trying to cheer Joey up and Tristan wasn't helping at all.
Yugi had exited the arena, and was met by Joey, the young Muto could tell Joey was nervous about something.
"Joey, are you ok?" Yugi asked.
"Yugi, if I win I'll be going up against you or Tea, one of you against me, what do you think of that?" Joey asked.
"I think the three of us can look forward to an honorably fought duel." Yugi answered.
"Huh?" Joey gasped, but then smiled. "Good call, you give it your best and I'll give it mine,and we'll say best friends no matter what, and we can expect the same from Tea."
"Hmm." Yugi gave him a firm nod.
Joey pushed the doors open, and walked to the arena, while the others watched, including Yugi who had just rejoined the team.
"There's our man." Tristan said.
"Go Joey!" Sonia cheered.
Joey waved to the team, as he reached the end he saw that Keith wasn't at the console.
"Huh? Hey where's Keith?" Joey questioned.
"Ahh." a yawn came from the sidelines, Joey looked to see Bandit Keith laying down on a couch while Xeno, Mako and REQ just looked at him, Mako was confused while Xeno was annoyed and REQ must have been annoyed by Keith's antics but her helmet made it difficult to tell.
Joey's anime fell, but quickly got up. "What are you doing? Get over here!"
"Hey, chill out." Bandit Keith said nonchalantly. "The pummeling will begin when I'm good and ready. You got that, you piece of trash?"
"Stall as long as you want Keith, but you're going to have to duel me sooner or later." Joey said.
'Heh, that's what you think you piece of trash.' Keith thought.
"Tournament Verification Cards gentleman." Croquet asked.
Keith showed the Glory of the King's Hand card verifying his participation "No problem, hey you piece of trash show him your card."
Bandit Keith having a Tournament Verification card caught Xeno's suspicion.
'How did he get a verification card when he snuck his way in?' Xeno thought to himself before realizing the answer. 'Wait a minute don't tell me.'
{You should inform them master.} a voice said.
Xeno scowled. {Even if I did say anything, there's no proof. Pegasus can easily read Keith's mind, but I'm not sure he'll do anything.}
Joey reached into his coat pocket but found nothing. "Wait?! I know it's in here somewhere!" he frantically searched his pockets.
"Joey lost his tournament entry card?" Tea said in shock.
"Surely he can't be that absent minded?" Bakura remarked.
"Oh yes he can." Tristan said, clenching his head.
"There's no way he could have lost it." Sonia stated.
"Oh, no Joey."
REQ said nothing as continued to observe Joey.
"Well, what a shame. I guess I won't be needing to get up off this couch any time soon." Keith smirked.
Joey turned and glared at Keith. "Well, don't get too comfortable because once I find that card."
"If you find that card." Croquet spoke, gaining Joey's attention. "If you find the card within the set time regulation that the tournament rules allow."
This caused Joey to sweat. "There's a time limit?"
'Heheh, I got a hunch that time's going to run out, way before you find it.' Keith thought to himself.
"Retrace your steps Joey, are you sure you put it in your coat?" Sonia asked.
"Well, it must have fallen out of the room. I'm going to head back there and check it out." Joey said, turning his heels.
"5 minutes." Croquet said.
Joey stopped and looked at him. "What?"
"Your match will begin at 11:00 clock sharp." Croquet announced.
The match screen changed into a green number showing it was 10:55.
"Extensions are given to no one, if you haven't returned with the card by 11:00 you will be disqualified." Croquet said.
"Damn." Joey cursed before running out of the room as fast as his legs could take him.
"That's not fair, that's barely enough time for Joey to make it back to the room." Tea said.
"These are the rules and they will be enforced." Croquet remarked.
All the gang could do was groan, they hoped Joey will find the card before it's too late.
"I hope Joey finds his card." Mako said.
"Me too." REQ said in worry.
Xeno clenched his teeth. 'He won't find it, cause this bastard has it with him.' he glared at Keith.
'Heheh, it won't do you any good if your card's got a new owner these days.' Keith thought to himself.
(Hallway)
Joey was running down the hallway to his room in an attempt to find his Verification card. "If I can't find that card in 3 minutes than I have to forfeit to Keith of all people." Joey thought
(Dueling Arena)
Back on the couch, Keith was yawning. "Hey, is it okay if I take off my boots?" Keith asked with no care in the world.
Xeno was annoyed with his attitude and how he didn't even care. 'This cheating bastard.'
"Do as you wish, but if you're not in the dueling arena at the designated time, you will be disqualified as well." Croquet told Keith
Hearing that shocked Keith. "Say what? This sucks, man you suits and your damn rules." Keith said as he got off the couch, much to Xeno's amusement who's still worried for Joey.
'Joey, you need to find that card.' REQ thought.
Joey arrived at his room and tore it apart, he ripped the sheets off the bed, opened the drawers, and moved the curtains but still couldn't find it.
"Damn it, where can it be?" Joey asked himself, he was running out of time he quickly exited the room thinking maybe it could have fallen out in the hall.
Yugi looked at the Glory of the King's opposite hand card.
'I could give Joey my Glory of the King's opposite hand card but that would prevent me from saving my mom and grandpa.' Yugi thought.
Tea was thinking the same thing, she had both cards but she wasn't sure she could make it to Joey in time to give him either.
Keith yawned as leaned over the console. "Oh come on, can't we just disqualify that punk right? We all know he's not coming back anyway."
"What does that mean?" Tristan called out.
"He'll be back, just you wait." Sonia added.
"Think about it. Your little friend's been scared of me ever since we had our run-in back in that cave, you know he's not looking for the Glory of the King's hand card, he's looking for somewhere to hide." Keith chuckled.
Xeno, REQ and Mako glared at Keith for his words.
"You're wrong." Yugi called out, gaining Keith's attention. "Joey's never backed down from a duel, and he won't start now."
"Say what you want to twerp, cause there's only one minute left." Keith said, as the clock now read 10:59.
"What if you can't find it in time?" Bakura asked.
"He'll be back." Tristan remarked.
'Come on joey…' Yugi thought.
'Your sister needs you Joey.' Tea thought in worry.
'Damn it, it's too late.' Xeno thought, clenching his hand.
Red-Eyes Queen began to tremble. 'Please hurry up, I believe you Joey.'
Joey was out the doors to the dueling arena leaning against the wall, but he had no luck in finding the card.
He then dropped to his knees. 'I can't believe this, after surviving in this tournament for so long, beating duelist's with twice my experience and getting past all of pegasus' traps, I'm going to get disqualified 'because of this? For losing one lousy card?'
An image of his sister raced through his mind. 'I'm sorry, serenity, I came close, really close.' the blond began to cry as a single tear hit his clenched fist.
"Get up off the floor Joey." a familiar voice said.
Joey turned and saw Mai standing over him, hands on her hips.
"Huh?" Joey muttered.
"And quit crying like a big baby!" Mai said firmly.
Joey sniffled and rubbed his eyes. "I'm not crying, I got something in my eye."
Mai couldn't help but smirk at his denial.
"Stupid thing won't come out." Joey said, still rubbing his eyes.
Mai then presented him with a handkerchief. "Here just don't go blowing your nose in it."
Joey took the handkerchief but was confused.
"You know, when I think I figured you out you always surprise me." Mai said, turning her back to Joey. "Tea told me about your sister, how you're dueling to win the prize money for her operation, sounds like a bad soap opera, but again who doesn't love a bad soap opera? Anyway… see you around hun."
As Mai walked away Joey opened the handkerchief and was shocked to Glory of the Kings hand, he quickly got on his feet and called out to Mai. "Wait Mai!"
"Take it, I don't need it anymore." Mai stated.
"Does this mean we're finally friends now?" Joey asked.
"Don't you have a match you need to get to?" Mai remarked.
"Right, thanks Mai." Joey smiled as he walked up to the door and opened it.
"Hey it's Joey." Sonia smiled.
"He made it!" Tristan cheered.
Xeno was surprised but he saw Joey's hand and smirked. 'I don't know where he got that card, but good job Wheeler.'
'I knew you were going to do it Joey.' REQ said in relief.
Joey walked up the console fully determined and ready to duel.
"So, the punk's come back to give us the bad news huh? Let me guess you couldn't find the card anywhere?" Keith asked in a mocking tone.
"What are you talking about? I got it right here." Joey said, showing the Glory of the King's hand just as the clock turned red and stuck 11:00.
Keith's eyes widened in shock that Joey had somehow gotten a Glory of the King's hand. 'That can't be, I'm using his card.'
Xeno saw the look on Keith's face and to him it was priceless.
{it goes to show you crime doesn't pay.} a voice said.
Xeno nodded in agreement, as he continued to watch.
"Very well then. The duel will proceed as scheduled."
The gang sighed in relief.
"I'm already beat." Tristan said with a nervous smirk.
"I'm glad he found that card, it would have been terrible if he got disqualified." Mako said in relief.
"You can say that again, he's come too far to let a technicality like that stop him." REQ said.
"Nap time's over Keith, it's time to duel." Joey said with a straight face.
Keith just smirked. "Fine. you know a small part of me was hoping you show up a nice little warm up match might do me some good."
"Oh I'll warm you up, and wear you out." Joey said.
"Just try it!" Keith countered.
"The second match of these play offs will now begin Joey Wheeler, Bandit Keith prepare to duel." Croquet called out.
'Come on Joey you have to win or you're out.' Yugi thought, 'Your Sister's counting on you.'
'Remember your sister is depending on you, don't give up.' Tea thought.
"Joey Wheeler, Bandit Keith, your Peers and your gracious host await your bout." Croquet said. "Let the duel commence." Pegasus's right-hand man and butler announced.

'This'll be interesting.' Xeno thought with his arms crossed.

"That's right!" Keith said. "And he's about to go into overdrive on your face-down monster." Keith said as Pendulum Machine went across the field and used its clawed hands and literally grabbed the monsters out of the field, revealing it to be Battle Warrior. "Go, Slashing Blade attack!" Keith cackled in delight as the torture machine-like monster winded its blade back before literally slicing Battle Warrior in half.

"Yeah, and it's a big one all thanks to your lousy move." Joey countered "I summon Giltia the Dark Knight in attack mode. And he's to send your machine to the scrapyard."

In a flash of light a purple and green knight holding a spear appeared on the field.
"Perfect, Gilta the Dark Knight has a higher ATK power then Keith's monster." Sonia smiled.
"Yes, now Joey can defeat that machine." Bakura added.
"Soul Spear, Attack!" Joey called out.
Gilta thrusted his arm forward as his spear released a purple stream of magic.
Keith just smirked just as the magic hit Pendulum Machine, to everyone's shock the attack bounced off of the machine monster.
"What? My attack's not working?" Joey exclaimed in shock.
"Impossible." Sonia uttered in disbelief.
"Great Scottit's not." Bakura uttered.
"What the hell happened?" Mako questioned.
"Now it makes sense." Xeno frowned.
"Yes it does." REQ commented.
"Yuge, that can't be right. Can it?" Tristan asked the tri-haired teen.
"Heheh." Keith laughed, gaining their attention. "That's right, all my machine monsters have magic resistant armor so all your magic attacks are basically useless."
"That's right, they're magic-proof." Yugi realized. "And not just against Magical-type monsters, but they can withstand attacks from any card that uses magic based attacks."
"Man, can't we ever catch a break." Tristan said in frustration.

"My turn." Keith said as he held up a card. "And I got another well-oiled machine." Keith added before placing the card on the field. "Go Launcher Spider!"
Appearing on the field was a mechanical Spider-like machine with missile launchers on its back.

Launcher Spider fired a barrage of missiles that were heading towards Giltia, as soon as they hit him, they immediately exploded on impact, destroying the knight, leaving no trace of him.

"Oh, I'm not sure. Machine monsters are one of the toughest archetypes in the dueling world, not only are they impervious to magic attacks but they have an amazingly strong offense." Tea explained.
"That's right, but they can only use that offense one way: head on attacks, if Joey can play his cards right he can use that to his advantage." Yugi said.

'Hmm. attacking those metal freaks will get me clobbered, Serpent Night Dragon would be good for this, but Launcher Spider Would just shoot him out of the sky, however...' Joey thought, as he looked at the prize monster he won from Rex.
"I place one card face down, and then a monster in defense mode." Joey said.

Keith said, when all of a sudden he 'accidently' dropped the card he was going to place face-down in DEF, showing that the monster was a demon-like creature, but before it could fully materialize on the field, Keith quickly took the card off the field and the monster vanished. "Just forget that you saw that." Keith said "Anyway as I was saying I'll place this face-down in DEF."

{Master that wasn't an accident.} the voice told Xeno,

"He's baiting him." Mako said glaring at the field.
"Yeah, that snake." REQ replied.
"Look at him grin, somethings up." Tristan smirked.

Zoa began to change, taking on a more machine appearance.
"So what?" Joey countered it didn't matter since MetalZoa's defense was still lower than his swordsman's attack.
"But that's not all blondie, that new metallic paint job he's sporting deflects all magic attacks back to where they came from." Keith said, shocking Joey.
"Oh no." Joey exclaimed.
The flame attack struck MetalZoa in the chest however it was then deflected right back at Flame Swordsman who was engulfed by it before it dissipated leaving only embers.
'My swordsman's been fried.' Joey scowled.

"Let's see what you're hiding there." Keith remarked, thanks to the stop defense card. Joey's face down monster revealing it to be Axe Raider.

"Sayonara loser." Keith said. "MetalZoa attack the Axe Raider
At his command, MetalZoa begun charging at Axe Raider with the intent of finishing this duel. But as soon as it neared the warrior, MetalZoa suddenly vanished, shocking everyone from the rafters and one the aside.
'Huh, where'd he go?' Keith thought.
MetalZoa was later revealed to have fallen into a chasm filled with spikes that punctured through his metal skin.
"Alright! My trap card worked, just as I planned." Joey exclaimed happily holding up his trap card the Chasm of Spikes.
"No way! You set a trap for me?" Keith questioned in shock.
{Did you see the look on Keith's face when his MetalZoa got impaled?} Xeno asked with a smirk.
{it was priceless.} the voice said giggling.
"That was a good move." REQ complimented.
"Great Job, my friend." Mako cheered.
"The Chasm of Spikes card." Yugi smirked "Not only is MetalZoa destroyed but ¼ of his attack is deducted from Keith's life points."

Keith just glared at Joey in anger.
"Alright, it's about time someone taught that Bandit Keith a lesson." Sonia said.
"That's the only thing, I think Joey found the glitch in those machine monsters." Tea smiled.
"Right, rather than try to beat them in a direct assault he's letting his trap cards do all the work." Yugi said.
Bakura nodded. "And not only that Keith's only winning by 100 life points."
"Alright! Go, Joe go." Tristan called out.
"Get him joey."
Turn 10
"My turn." Joey said. "And the first thing I'll do is lay this card face-down."

"Wow, look at him duel?" Tristan smiled;
"Careful you haven't won yet, Joey." Sonia said.
"You amatuer! That's gotta be the lousiest bluff I've ever heard in my entire dueling career." Keith exclaimed
"Next I'll switch Axe Raider back to DEF." Joey said. "And throw this in ATK mode." Joey continued as he placed Garoozis on the field.

Garoozis rushed at Pendulum Machine and severed him in two, destroying the machine monster.

"Grr.. punk." Keith growled.
"Yeah, that's right, take a permanent vacation at the scrap yard you hunk of junk." Joey remarked.
Turn 11
"My turn now, Launcher Spider, demolish Garoozis!" Keith roared as the mechanical spider fired its rockets at Garoozis, seeminling destroying him.
"Hah, I knew that you didn't have another trap card loser." Keith mocked.
"Wrong again Keith, and now you;re going to pay for it." Joey mouthed.
"What's that?" Keith said
All of a sudden, Launcher Spider was suddenly ensnared by a chain-linked weapon that was connected and wielded by Garoozis who flew over the smoke cloud, surprising Keith who couldn't believe he had fallen for another trap card Joey smirked happy that his bluff worked knowing Keith's arrogance would make him attack thinking that he didn't have a trap on the field.
"Kunai with Chain, and thanks to this card, it raises my ATK by 500." Joey explained "Counterattack Garoozis, Battle Axe Crush."
Garoozis pulled on the chain hurtling towards the mechanical spider then he severed Launcher Spider in half along making it spark with static, before jumping back before the machine exploded from the damage it had taken.

Keith's eyes widened in shock as another machine monster was scrapped.
"All right, it's still close but Joey has just won himself a slight lead." Bakura stated.
"I knew he'd do it." Sonia smirked
'Joey's trusting himself and his cards, he's dueling like a true champion.' Yugi thought.
'Great Joey, keep this up and you'll save Serenity's sight.' Tea thought.
"Way ta go Joey, keep this up and you'll be dueling Pegasus in no time." Tristan said.
Pegasus, who was watching the duel so far, heard the comment, opened his eyes and just muttered "Hmm."
Keith meanwhile bangs the table in anger. 'Uh, I'm not going to let this loser make a fool of me.' Keith thought furiously.
"Ohh, looks like Keithy is very angry." Xeno mocked with his arms crossed.
"Serves him, right." REQ smirked.
"Keep up the good work Joey." Mako said.
"What's wrong mister champ?" Joey smiled. "Don't tell me you're losing your cool to an amatuer like me?"
Keith just smirked before he began to laugh. "Hehehe ahahahah."
"What the… what's the joke?" Joey demanded.
"The joke is you blondie. You're already counting the tournament's prize money, and this duel isn't even close to being over yet." Keith said,
"Oh yeah?" Joey countered.
"That's right, your traps won't last you forever, you're going to run out sooner or later and then i;ll bring out my bigger machines and really give this audience a show. You're going to regret this you sniveling little bastard, No one beat's Bandit Keith Nobody" Keith mouthed.
Joey scowled; he may have taken the lead but he knew the real duel was about to begin.
Ending Scene - Play: Yu-Yu Hakusho the homework never ends
Yami Yugi, Hikari Téa, Kaiba, and Red-Eyes Queen stood in the dark frowning, hands in their pockets as different color spotlights shone over them before a yellow light shone over all of them. Yami Yugi smiled sadly as he stood in a yellow light. Before it faded out and switched to a figure in the back and revealed Kaiba who frowned, staring at the spot where his rival once stood. While Yami Yugi began to walk leaving two afterimages. In a red light, Hikari Téa was leaning against a rail in a staircase looking up, before the light faded out as a blue light revealed Red-Eyes Queen looking down and to the side from the top staircase. Yami Yugi drew a card and summoned his faithful companion, a dark magician while Hikari Téa summoned dark magician girl, Kaiba summoned his Blue-Wyes white dragon and Red-Eyes Queen summoned her red-eyes black dragon. Dark magician girl flew through the air and vanished as images of Yugi and Téa's friends and family appeared. As the sky turned dark both Yami Yugi and Hikari Téa who had scratches and bruises on them and their jackets missing as they slowly walked away from the tower on Kaiba corp island as the Silhouettes of the villains loomed over them. A spotlight shined on Kikyo as she smiled on them below as she faded, and reappearing to the side was a woman who looked exactly like Kikyo only dressed like an Egyptian queen who frowned sadly. At night Hikari Téa was at the beach sitting on the ground, while Yami Yugi stood up on the beach smiling as they stared at the ocean.
