Chapter 13 The Battle of Naboo… a Different Ending
Author's note: Sorry again as you've no doubt read my author's note in ch.10 I've been quite burnt out by work so I apologize for the long delay. Hopefully the next two or so chapters will come out a bit more normal, but then there may be another break as I sorta decided to rewrite the next arc. It just didn't read very right honestly so I wanted to write in some more details that will make everything down the line work out a lot better. Also some may be curious as to the lack of reaction around Padme with Anakin and largely I decided to write it that way because I think Anakin wouldn't want to draw too much attention to any relationship between the two. Either way, hope you enjoyed!
Standard Disclaimer:
I don't own any of Star Wars, I also don't make any money from this and only really gain slight satisfaction from the development and carrying out of the story in my mind as I write it.
Naboo, Central Swamps, The Great Gungan Ruins

Anakin's POV
Jar Jar had led the way, quickly being intercepted by some Gungan guards mounted on Kaadus. After inferring the purpose of our group and finding out the queen of Naboo was with us, they escorted us the rest of the way. Passing by large groups of Gungans we finally got to the Sacred Temples of Naboo.
At the base of a large tree in the middle of the ruins stood Boss Nass surrounded by the other members of the Gungan council.
He turned as the guard escorting us introduced the Queen, instantly zeroing in on Jar Jar. I always wondered what he'd done to make the Boss so mas. "Jar Jar, yousa payen dis time. Who's da uss-en others?" The Boss said disregarding the Queen's introduction, Jar Jar hopped nervously as the Fake Queen stepped past him.
"I am Queen Amidala of the Naboo...I come before you in peace." she said imperiously, looking up at the Boss as he stood on the broken stone heads that littered the ruins.
Nass sneered at her "Ahhhh Naboo biggen. Yousa bringen da Mackineeks... Dya busten uss-en
omm. Yousa all bombad." he said, making a slashing movement with his hand through the air. The Gungans had always been at odds with the Nabooians and the Naboo royal family, with their city expansions often encroaching on what they saw as, and likely was, their territory.
Captain Panaka as well as the guards, and the pilots the queen had brought along looked around nervously as the Gungans flanking the council members lowered their long power poles into a ready position.
Voss rustled a bit, the other three Jedi staying rather still. The fake Queen continued on, "We wish to form an alliance..." she was cut off as Padme stepped forward.
"Your honor" she said as R2 and C3PO both uttered a whirred "uh oh" and "oh my" respectively.
"Whosa dis?" The Boss said, thrusting his hand out. 'Should I kill him' a small dark part of me thought 'just for the disrespect, that'd be a bit much' I thought reaching down to fiddle with my blaster settings.
"I am Queen Amidala" she said, stepping forward and looking over at the fake queen. "This is my decoy...my protection...my loyal bodyguard." she explained. The guards she'd brought along looked confused, the Jedi as well before Qui-Gon and Voss turned to look at me. I threw them a wink and smile, before making a gesture for them to continue watching.
" ...I am sorry for my deception, but under the circumstances it has become necessary to protect myself." she said as the Boss nodded, he'd brought his people here for the same reasons.
"Although we do not always agree," she paused again searching for words. "Your Honor, our two great societies have always lived in peace… until now."
She motioned behind her "The Trade Federation has destroyed all that we have worked so hard to build." She motioned to the ruins around her, "you are in hiding, my people are in camps. If we do not act quickly, all will be lost forever...I ask you to help us...no, I beg you to help us." she said as she dropped to her knees. Captain Panaka and the others gasped in surprise, but quickly followed suit. I sighed as the Jedi, and I did as well.
"We are your humble servants...our fate is in your hands." she said looking up at the boss.
The Gungans looked at each other puzzled, kneeling to request mercy wasn't really a thing for them. Kneeling wasn't smart, running was better, otherwise you'd get fed to the fishes. Boss Nass understood having observed the cultures of others and thought about it. Giving our group a quizzical glance before bursting out laughing.
"Yousa no tinken yousa greater den da Gungans... Mesa like dis." he said, smiling down at the Queen. "Maybe wesa bein friends." he said as many in the kneeling group let out sighs of relief and the Boss lifted his hands ordering his troops to get ready, and for them to greet the Nabooian delegation.
We rose to our feet, and the Jedi as well as the guards began to prepare themselves, going up to the Gungans to discuss the best plan of action, as the Queen and her retinue moved to talk with the Gungan Boss.
I sat to the side content to watch it play out and getting ready to play my part in shutting down the droid ship.
Naboo, South Swamps, Clearing Near Naboo

Anakin's POV
I watched as a Gungan sentry atop one of the stone heads scanned the plains, searching for the scout team's return. "Daza Comen" he yelled out to one of Padme's guards, who promptly ran over to tell Padme and the Jedi.
I could see the Boss wrapping an arm around Jar Jar telling the Gungan he had done well bringing the Gungans and the Nabooians together. Promoting him to a general position, I snorted, it might seem like a promotion, but he would be leading from the front line with a greater chance to be killed in action. I laughed as Jar Jar fainted trying to process the news he was given.
The scouting group suddenly zoomed in, stopping by the Jedi and the Gungan generals in the command tent. Captain Panaka hopped off one of the four speeders with the other guards dismounting as well.
"Whats the situation?" Padme asks Panaka, concerned for the state of her people.
"Almost everyone's in camps. A few hundred police and guards have formed an underground movement." Panaka reported before turning to some of the people that he'd brought along."I brought as many of the leaders as I could. The Federation Army's also much larger than we thought, and much stronger. Your Highness, this is a battle I do not think we can win." He said as the rebels he'd brought nodded somberly.
"The battle is a diversion. The Gungans must draw the Droid Army away from the cities." Padme replied. "We can enter the city using the secret passages on the waterfall side." I'd remembered those passageways, cut straight into the rock by the Naboo royal family ages ago. Padme and I had walked through them countless times when we wanted to have our secret picnics a bit closer to the city.
"Once we get to the main entrance, Captain Panaka will create a diversion, so that we can enter the palace and capture the Viceroy. Without the Viceroy, they will be lost and confused." Padme concluded. A sound plan, but I knew without shutting down the droid army, the plan would be useless. Palpatine likely had a remote system to control the army, and accidently set them loose.
The four Jedi looked at each other with interest, the plan seemed feasible, but something felt off to them.
"What do you think, Master Jedi?" Padme said, turning to them. "The Viceroy will be well guarded" Voss said as he stepped forward looking at his padawan, "my padawan Aayla will go with you" he knew she wasn't yet ready to fight with the Sith that they had encountered.
She had been trained mainly in espionage, as well as more fluid defensive lightsaber styles. Remembering the heavy aggressive blows that the creature had dolled out in their brief fight he'd decided she was better off making sure the Queens group got to the throne room.
"But Master…." she tried to argue. "No, Aayla, this Sith is strong, and we need someone to stay with the Queen and ensure her safety. The three of us will be in charge of holding back the Sith assassin, he's strong, and if he's not taken care of, he'll jeopardize the mission." Voss said, "The mission must be completed." Aayla quieted knowing the Queen's safety and capture of the Viceroy was crucial to freeing the planet.
Qui-Gon broke the silence looking over at the Gungan Boss and his generals. "There is a possibility that with this diversion many Gungans will be killed," he said somberly.
The Boss smiled. "Wesa ready to do are-sa part." The Gungans hadn't fought a major battle on land in decades, it would bring great honor to do so, and surprisingly on the Nabooian's side. The now resuscitated Jar Jar smiled sheepishly unsure of his first combat experience.
Padme continued with her plan. "We believe we can immobilize the Droid Army. We will send
what pilots we have to knock out the Droid control ship which is orbiting the planet. If we can get past their rayshields, we can sever communication and their droids will be helpless."
Qui-Gon and the other Jedi frowned, knowing some of the specs on the Naboo fighters. "A well-conceived plan. However, there's great risk, the weapons on your fighters may not penetrate the shields on the control ship." Qui-Gon warned.
I stepped forward hearing this. "I'll make sure that the hangar is properly secured and assist the fighters in the air." The Jedi turned to look at me assuming that I'd stick with the Queens group.
Padme frowned, knowing of the danger "I can feel it through the force, I'm destined to do so." I nodded towards her and turned to look at Voss, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan. "I have done all I can to ensure that my visions will not come to pass. I'll leave you with one last warning, make sure to stay together, and don't let your guard down. If you offer him mercy, he will strike out in anger." I stepped back after saying my part, watching as the Jedi thought on my words.
I could see Padme about to say something before I shot her a reassuring smile. She smiled back as I turned to address Aayla and the group that would be following the queen. "You must ensure that the Viceroy is captured, otherwise he'll just return with another army."
Padme added on "That is why we must not fail to get to the Viceroy. Everything depends on it." she finished. I turned to go and meet the pilots I'd be flying with as they finished up the more specific details and Gungan troop deployments.
Naboo, Theed, Central Royal Hangars

Anakin's POV
I cut through another droid as we made our way through the rear hanger doors. The Jedi and I had led the way through the city of Theed, using our blades to ensure that the droids fell silently.
I led Panaka as well as the pilots that would be taking to the skies with me. On the other side of the hangers, I could make out Qui-Gon and Voss's lightsabers cutting through the B1 battle droids as they pushed into the hanger.
I rushed forward into the hangar as Qui-Gon and the Queens group started firing, the pilots and I shooting the droids in the back. The droids scrambled side to side, they're processing units trying to make sense of the situation as I downed one of the commander droids.
I slashed through a close-by droid with my Vibroblade, letting loose a quick volley of blaster fire with my heavy blaster, aiming at the droids on the sides of the hanger so as not to accidently hit the group on the opposite side.
I tried to stop some of the pilots as they rushed to the opposite side of the hanger hoping to gain cover from some ship supply crates. I force pushed them watching as blaster bolts flew over their heads, almost clipping one.
"Stay down" I said, pulling one of the ships lining the side of the hanger forward and onto the battle droids before lifting the stray fallen parts to attack one another. I slid a closer ship forward, the metal grating against the bottom of the hanger. It gave cover as more guards passed by it to the far side of the hanger.
I jumped on top of the ship, sheathing my sword, and pulling out my twin DL-17s aiming downwards at the various B1 droids, and scrapping a group of 6 in rapid succession.
I rolled to the side and down the tip of the ship as some of the remaining B1s took fire on me. The other pilots and guards took the chance to pop their heads out and shoot the droids down.
A couple more minutes later, we met the Queens group in the center of the hanger taking note if anyone was injured. Only one casualty on the Queens side, a pilot that had gotten unlucky while pressing up behind the Jedi, stepping too far out of their reach to deflect the blaster bolt.
Those on my side had only suffered minor injuries, the cover I had provided with the ships allowing us to push up easier. I couldn't fault the Jedi though; they probably never expected the man to walk out of the protection their lightsabers provided.
The Jedi nodded at my handiwork as they moved to escort the Queen through the palace, the various pilots already moving to enter the N1 starfighters.
I watched as the Jedi approached the main entryway stopping as the doors opened by themselves. I smirked as I saw the hooded figure. He'd been broadcasting his force signature since we'd started our palace infiltration, trying to sow fear into the Jedi. A simple trick, but then again, he was no apprentice, merely a pawn.
I motioned to R2, "Come on let's go" as I hopped into my own N1, the pod securing as the Jedi turned on their lightsabers. Voss, Quinlan, and Obi-Wan getting in a ready position, while Aayla followed the Queens group back the way they had come. Hoping they could wrap around a different route to the throne room.
I lifted R2 with the force into the droid hub, his head just barely sticking out from the back of the ship as I got in. I rested my hands on the ship controls. It'd been so long since I'd sat in one. My personal Tie Fighter was nice, but through the bulky gloves and pain inducing suit. It wasn't the same.
I placed the headset on, unclipping the large goggles from the headset. "Boot it up R2" I said as the ship hummed to life controls and displays coming to life as the ship gently turned on.
I took one last behind me as I zoomed out of the hangar watching as the Queen's guards passed the corner as I pushed forward on ships controls taking to Naboo airspace and following the rest of Bravo squad.
Naboo, Outer Atmosphere, Trade Federation Droid Control Ship

Anakin's POV
I smiled as the Droid control station came into view. "Connect us to Bravo Squads comms R2" I said, switching on the ship's shields and pitching into a roll as I encountered my first pair of Vulture droids, clipping one as I threaded the gap between the two. It was nowhere near as crowded as some of the Clone Wars space battles I'd been a part of.
"Proton torpedoes are barely draining the control ship Bravo leader" a voice came through the comms, "keep slamming those fighters" "Bavo-5 has been hit, I repeat Brav…" various other voices filtered through. I took a deep breath as I dodged another volley of bolts and a particularly suicidal Vulture droid. Letting the force flow through me, I engulfed the other N-1 fighters, pushing the force to connect with the other pilots.
I'd never used battle meditation, and I apologized internally to Bravo squad, they'd have to be my test subjects. One of the only problems with practicing force powers as a force ghost was the inability to perform or practice the different force abilities without expending too much energy.
Most of the abilities I'd at least gotten to practice on Tatooine in the Dune sea, but ones like Battle meditation which needed multiple people, or plant surge that needed plant life, I still wasn't able to properly utilize.
"Proton torpedoes will do minimal damage to the Control ships" I said, reinforcing my words with the force as I felt my connection with them shake in surprise. It was quite difficult and messy, I could sense the tendrils of force I was sending out trying to connect with the different Pilots minds calming though.
"Who's this?" the voice of Bravo Leader came through the comms apprehensively. "I'm the pilot that came with the Jedi detail, designation Alpha lead for now." simple enough and not mistakable with a Bravo call sign.
I felt through the force my connection with three or four of the other pilots, feeling their unease in the mission, their fear that they might not be able to shut down the droid control ship, and the apprehension at my sudden appearance. I pushed positive emotions, determination, hope, bravery through the force bonds I'd formed. Their emotions shifted and I could see them making bolder and bolder maneuvers as they outflew the vulture droids.
I spun through another group of vultures coming up from behind to tear through them. "Well, we're getting quite the beating out here and need to take this kriffing control ship down, any ideas?" Bravo leader said.
"The control ships have multiple radar dishes and antennas, don't waste your proton torpedoes trying to destroy parts off the ship, or going for the main deck. The shield power is likely centered there. The dishes control the information given and received by the core ship." I said dodging fire from three or four vulture droids.
"Take them out and you can slowly chip away at the vulture droids from the command ships blind spots." I said reaching out with the force to try to connect with more pilots.
"What about shutting down the control ship Alpha lead?" one of the pilots asked
"There's a small window, we have to exhaust enough of the vulture droids first, they'll send out more to bolster the flow of information as the antennae are destroyed. I'll take care of the rest." I said as I swerved again pushing the N1 to its limits as I twisted.
I could sense Bravo lead contemplating this course of action. I did have a decent bit going for me, being trusted by the Queen as well as coming along with the Jedi. "This is Bravo Lead, copy that Alpha lead. Bravo squad new objective, locate and destroy the exterior antennas, eliminating any vulture droids you encounter. Remember stay safe out their boys." he signed off.
I smiled, pushing feelings of confidence through the force to the other pilots. I don't think I was completely used to battle meditation yet, and it was on a fairly small force. But they were doing quite well, most handling 3 to 4 droids and blasting away at any dishes and antennas they were able to find with their proton torpedoes. I was zipping around the battlefield helping those that were getting overwhelmed and judging them to areas less sparsely filled.
I circled the core ship in an X orbit, destroying the various vulture droids that the control ship spat out. I wanted to pull as many vulture droids as possible from the control ship hangers. When I had blown up the droid ship the last time I'd come late to the battle, most of the vulture droids were already destroyed.
That was probably the only reason I didn't get destroyed by a vulture droid, and got so far into the droid control ship, leaving only the B1 battle droids to attack me. While the main hangers were open and unshielded right now, I wouldn't be able to go in without being shredded by the vulture droids still in there.
It was good practice as well for my battle meditation, from the start of the battle I'd only lost 3 or so ships, one of which was making its way to a crash landing on Naboo, so the pilot would presumably still be alive.
I could sense it was almost time, due to the massive information blackout the control center was likely facing. They had sent out their remaining vultures en masse. "This is Alpha lead, take on evasive actions, I'll be taking the control ship down" I said over the comms. I could sense the surprise from the other pilots, "Alone?" Bravo lead asked.
"Affirmative, they're sending out fighters en masse, be careful. I'm going for the main reactors." I stopped my X rotations around the core ship, heading towards the right arm of the ship. More specifically the ships open hanger doors. Going into a barrel roll and taking a trajectory which initially seemed to be heading for under the arm, I slipped into the hanger doors.
Pulling up from my controls rapidly to duck under a droid landing craft, I twitched my right control, sliding sideways through a gap in the doors.
I raced through the ship, hoping the droids wouldn't have the time to turn on any particle shields, or recall any vulture droids.
I finally reached a dead end, quickly whipping my ship around and turning it to my right side, aiming it down a long hallway.
I could see surrounding B1 battle droids start to approach as I jerked back my right control sending a volley of plasma torpedoes down the hall, I watched as it made contact with one of the twin main reactors of the ship.
"Time to go R2" I said turning my ship back the way we came. The twin reactors of the ship were paired, a design flaw of the early droid control ships. Once one reactor was destroyed the paired reactor would experience a power surge causing it to blow up as well.
"This is alpha lead; the main reactor has been destroyed" I said over the comms. "Bravo squad clear out from the surrounding air space, the droid ships will blow after they lose communications." A failsafe placed in the vulture droids so they couldn't be repurposed. All active vulture droids would self-destruct once losing connection to the Control center.
I sped out of the hanger, sensing it come apart behind me, immediately dipping downwards, the force pulling me where the least amount of vulture droids would be. As I raced back to the planet with Bravo squad I could sense the dark side of the force cry out before going silent.
All part of the plan I smiled pushing my N-1 to go faster.

Third Person POV
Qui-Gon and Voss nodded at each other as they ignited their lightsabers. Both getting in ready positions, Qui-Gon falling into an Ataru stance, body steady, knees bent, and saber held at his side. Obi-Wan behind the two settling into a similar stance. Vos, settled back, a lower more traditional Juyo form, body low, and lightsaber parallel to the ground, pointed at Maul.
Maul smiled, bringing his saber staff out confidently in front of him with one hand. 'Finally a challenge', he thought, igniting the blades' dual ends.
Vos started stepping forward aggressively, a stabbing blow at Maul, he spun to his side deflecting the blow with one end of his blade before slicing downwards at Qui-Gon.
Obi-Wan waited for an opportunity to strike, watching as Maul backflipped over Vos's swing from behind him. Bringing his blade up to slice at the Jedi's back as he turned. Sensing the blow, Vos twirled his saber, bringing it just under the small of his back to prevent the Sith from slicing up his spine.
Qui-Gon pushed forward aiming at the Sith's left leg, as Obi-Wan rushed to the opposite side, going for the Sith's right arm. Maul twirled his saber staff, easily deflecting both, just as Vos turned and pushed forward with a diagonal slash. Maul countered with an aggressive counter blow, almost knocking Vos's lightsaber from his hands, his strength magnified through his use of the dark side.
Swinging the left side of his saber up at Vos's head, Maul's saber was blocked by a downwards blow from Qui-Gon, which he used to spin his saber staff faster bringing u the right side of his staff to deflect Obi-Wan's follow up slash.
He began to back up, he knew by playing the fight out he could tire both Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, their Ataru style eating up their stamina. He had memorized the layout and knew that the Jedi's movements would be limited in the inner generator areas of the city. If anything, he could glance a lucky blow to knock them off the high platform, the fear of falling would limit their acrobatics.
He blocked another blow from Vos as he stepped forward, if he played this right and tried to divide them at the electric beam hallway, he could cut down this one, or the other two hopefully. He observed Vos, his Juyo was strong but in the current setting limited by his Ataru styled friends. Unable to be used to its full extent with unpredictable blows and slashes.
He threw a piece of metal at an access panel, the door sliding up and into a power generator area, beams of electricity powered by the plasma reserves deep under the city ran up through clear transparisteel tubes, to a central power node, funneled back downwards in the central power pit where Maul was leading them. He came to the edge of a high walkway, back to the ledge so the Jedi couldn't jump over him.
Vos led again, this time a downwards diagonal strike at the Sith's left arm, Maul spun his saber staff counterclockwise blocking the slash backwards and striking horizontally at Qui-Gon forcing the Jedi to block it and step back.
Taking this opportunity, Maul backflipped, landing on a platform further towards the main generator area. The three Jedi jumped after him, Maul taking the chance to throw Obi-Wan with the force backwards, making him land on the platform they'd just jumped from. As the jedi landed he quickly made a sideways slash towards Vos who had just landed. Seeing the incoming blade Vos dropped to his knees and laid back. Qui-Gon, who had been anticipating the blow, held tightly to his lightsaber as he deflected it, allowing himself to land after a spin and kick at the Sith, forcing him back.
Maul allowed himself to fall backwards and roll, egging the Jedi on so that they would abandon Obi-Wan. Qui-Gon quickly followed feeling a slight fatigue arise and wanting to end the battle early. Vos quickly followed, his Juyo style allowed for him to rest between the rapid bouts.
Qui-Gon this time vaulted over the Sith on the platform swinging across his back as Vos let out an aggressive downwards slash. Maul brought his saber staff behind him, holding it horizontal, to block Qui-Gon's horizontal slash, twirling his saber staff to gain momentum and make an upwards diagonal slash at Vos's attack, the force making the Jedi slide back a few steps.
Maul was anything if not strong and spun around both hands on his saber staff in a devastating downwards slash at Qui-Go, one which the Jedi Master barely blocked. Seeing the Jedi off balance Maul killed at his leg dropping the Jedi to the ground. Before attempting to bring down his lightsaber again in a savage downwards slash, he stopped to flip over the Jedi as Vos slashed at him again.
He backed up a couple steps again, growling, leaving his mouth as he scowled at the Kiffarian, his gambit not working and Obi-Wan catching up slightly to the fight. The Jedi followed, chasing Maul, and slashing and jabbing at him as he allowed himself to be pushed backwards.
He jumped from platform to platform navigating the different levels in the generator room as the Jedi followed after him, Obi-Wan falling further and further behind.
He finally reached a hallway buzzing with laser walls. He blocked a downward strike from Qui-Gon, an upwards one from Vos. Twirling his blade to deliver his own retaliatory strike, before quickly blocking another strike from Qui-Gon.
The next time Vos struck he lashed out violently knocking the Jedi back before kicking out at Qui-Gon, only succeeding in bringing him down to one knee before he stepped back a couple paces, turning to run past the now-shutdown laser walls in the hallway. Qui-Gon followed, striking out a blow at Maul, Vos a short bit behind.
Suddenly beeeuuuunnngggg the lasers in the hallway reactivated dividing Vos, Qui-Gon, and Maul from each other. Obi-Wan finally caught up and looked down the hallway towards where his Master was.
Vos looked behind him noticing Obi-Wan's late arrival, so caught up in the fight he'd almost forgotten the Padawans presence, he then looked forward again at Qui-Gon, the Sith assassin tauntingly buzzing an end of his saber staff against the lasers dividing them.
Qui-Gon shut his lightsaber off to recoup his strength, ready to start again, and finally finish the fight with this Sith. Vos observed the Sith as Qui-Gon closed his eyes to center himself, noticing the Sith's smile and remembering Brakh's words. He called out, "such an enclosed space Qui-Gon, better to stay together perhaps?" The Jedi Master waved him off, tired, before stopping and remembering Brakh's words.
He sighed and calmed his mind, he had wanted to end the fight so quickly, he'd almost forgotten the advice he'd been given. Even if it wasn't true it wasn't wise to fight against this Sith alone when it seemed to have no problem fighting the three of them off by itself.
The Sith sneered "you Jedi are so weak" he taunted buzzing his saber staff against the laserwall as he paced, knowing the system was close to being shut off again. The system indeed did, the lasered off portions connecting again, and Qui-Gon chased after the Sith.
Just as he got to the end of the hall, Qui-Gon stopped as the Sith ran forward a bit further, abruptly turning around to strike at the air, believing the Jedi to still be following him. Surprised as Vos caught up with Qui-Gon and the Jedi peered at him through the lasered off wall. Two sections behind Obi-Wan waited as well.
"Nowhere to go, he's trapped" Vos observed, "be careful, a cornered animal fights the hardest, and we have to be careful not to extend over each other" Qui-Gon noted. "We'll allow my Padawan to catch up, I'll switch into Soresu, you press the attack, I'm getting a bit tired, and will maintain the defense."
Vos snorted, "You're too old now Jinn should've taken that council…" Vos stopped talking as the lasers deactivated again, Obi-Wan coming up on the Jedi's heels as Maul looked around for some area to escape to. But he was trapped, the only way out being the way he had come in.
He growled at the Jedi spinning his saber menacingly. Qui-Gon stepped forward now in a more lowered steady pose, allowing for the Sith to strike at him. The Sith smiled as he did, twirling his saber staff, and attempting to make a harsh horizontal strike against the Jedi. Qui-Gon put up a strong guard deflecting the blow, Vos quickly stepping forward to deliver one of his own, knocking the Sith further back.
They circled cautiously around the generator heat sink, Obi-Wan staying close to the laser pathway, cutting off the Sith's escape route.
He looked left and right, Qui-Gon and Vos slowly approaching from either side. Vos struck out, Maul swinging one side of his blade to deflect his, quickly spinning his blade to block at Qui-Gon.
The Jedi disengaged "stop this Sith, come quietly." Vos said, "you're trapped and outnumbered."
Maul scowled, twirling at Qui-Gon who quickly rebuffed the Sith's attacks, Vos quickly slashing down at the creature and missing.
He attempted to run, jumping over Qui-Gon and heading towards Obi-Wan. Vos jumped over the center gap to attack, bringing his saber down as he landed. The Sith blocked it but was forced to roll to his side to dodge a follow up blow by Obi-Wan.
As he got up coming face to face with Qui-Gon who knocked his saber staff from his hands and across the floor. He prepared himself to throw a punch at the Jedi Master before he heard Obi-Wan and Vos approaching from behind.
He snarled fists clenched as he looked around him, he slowly unclenched them putting his hands in the air open palmed as he got to his knees head facing the ground, the Jedi would not strike him down empty handed. Vos and Qui-Gon approached him, Qui-Gon taking out a pair of stun cuffs as he did. Obi-Wan cautiously approached as well, still guarded against the Sith.
Qui-Gon went to grab its hands, he clenched them as he jumped up flipping through the air and over the Jedi approaching him, his saber staff flew through the room activating mid-flight towards Qui-Gon's back. Obi-Wan rushed forward striking at the Sith as Vos reached a handout to deflect the lightsaber away from Qui-Gon.
Obi-Wan's upward strike cleaved through the Sith, eyes widening as he realized what had happened. He had solely been focused on saving his Master and stopping the Sith.
Maul's eyes similarly widened, his body cut from the waist down, the force from Obi-Wan's blow pushing him backwards into the air. He screamed as his body slipped next to the hole of the shaft thudding with a roll before eventually falling into its depths, the deflected saber staff similarly falling with him.
The three Jedi righted themselves hearing the clink of the Sith's saber staff as it bounced down the power shaft. Obi-Wan looked up at his Master, "Master I was just trying…." he thought his Master would be mad at him, striking out at the Sith.
"It's ok Obi-Wan, I was foolish to believe he'd surrender so easily." he sighed looking at the pit. "Come, we must go and reinforce the Queen, we'll worry about the Sith and his lord later." The Jedi knew of the rule of two, and it was a shame they weren't able to bring the Sith in for questioning. Perhaps Brakh would be able to tell them more.
Qui-Gon shook his head leading the way out of the generator, Vos looked at a sullen Obi-Wan patting his shoulder. "It's ok, the Sith was not the priority in this mission. We must get to the Queen and ensure she captured the Viceroy." he said, running after Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan looked at the pit one last time before following them.
