AN: So we're here, thank you to everyone who has seen this through to the end, I don't have any plans for another story at the moment, but I do have a few more plot ideas I would like to try out down the road.
AN2: Fun fact this story is pretty close to the same length as the original Deathly Hallows book.
AN3: I will be going back and editing this story for grammar and misspellings.
Disclaimer: See Chapter One.
St. Mungos Hospital, 9/27/1998, 04:17
Harry sat in the hospital room holding his newborn son who was sleeping peacefully in his arms, they had named him James Edgar Potter after Harry's father and Susan's uncle.
James took after Susan, he had a small amount of auburn hair on his head and beautiful blue eyes, the healer said his eyecolor could change in a years time as it was quite common for babies as they grow. Either way, he was happy, Harry was on cloud nine as he watched his son sleep bundled up in his arms
Susan was sleeping also in the hospital bed, giving birth had left her exhausted, life had been good since May...
The days after the siege of Hogwarts had been hectic, Kingsley had to get the ministry at least semi functional, the first few days were spent interrogating all the British Aurors that stayed on during Pias Thickenese' term as minister, over a third of them were complicit in crimes and were subsequently detained to await a trial.
The French Ministry had agreed to let Their Aurors remain in Britain for three months to help maintain law and order until Kingsley could get the British Auror department up to scratch.
With Azkaban completely destroyed Kingsley felt rebuilding a new prison on the island was a waste of resources and instead found an abandoned castle in Scotland.
Mearns Castle was falling apart and had been abandoned for centuries, the muggle government had no record of anyone owning it so Kingsley was able to make a deal with the muggle government and lease the site to store their magical prisoners.
In order to renovate the castle, Kingsley was forced to make a deal with the goblins who excelled at creating stone structures, to restore the building and ward all the cells.
On the bright side, the goblins were much more receptive to the new ministry, Voldemort spent months trying to get the bank to reopen and never succeeded, Harry and Kingsley were able to get them to reopen the bank after only one meeting.
That might have had something to do with the two hundred thousand galleons the goblins would make off of restoring and warding the 'Albus Dimbledore Second Chance Prison', or it could have been that they just liked Harry. There would not be any dementors in the new prison, there would be twenty-five human guards and three house elves overseeing the prison.
Kingsley had sent the D.o.M to destroy the dementors who were still trapped inside the lockdown wards on Azkaban island as they had proven they were not loyal to anyone and were a liability to the monistry. Harry had actually traveled to watch the dementor's destruction, the unspeakables cast some variation of the fiend fire spell that incinerated them all while they were trapped inside the lockdown wards.
Once harry had helped Kingsley sort out the goblin problem he distanced himself from the ministry, Kingsley had tried to talk him into becoming an Auror which Harry firmly refused, he was done fighting.
Not long after the prison situation was sorted out Kingsley Sent Auror Tonks to Grimmauld Place with the warrant for the arrest of one Draco Lucius Malfoy, the ferret was charged with three counts of attempted murder, being a member of a criminal organization, and one count of the use of an unforgivable curse on a human being. Since Draco and Vicktor Crabbe were the only two death eaters left alive, Draco was fast-tracked through the court and his trial was held two days later.
Draco was administered veritaserum and questioned in front of the court, the trial took about an hour before Draco was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after twelve years, he became inmate number 000001 in the 'Albus Dumbledore second Chance Prison'
This lead to the falling out between Harry and Narcissa who pleaded for Harry to speak up on her son's behalf, but seeing as the little shit didn't contribute a single thing to the war Harry firmly refused., she had not spoken to him since then.
The rest of June was pretty calm Harry claimed the Black lordship and reinstated Andromeda into the family, and passed ownership of Grimmauld Place to her, along with the dowry she should have received when she married Ted.
Harry and Susan had moved into Susan's childhood home and spent the summer studying for their N.E.W.T's, Harry had taken his a week ago but susan would have to wait until after the baby was born to take her own.
Susan had started really showing around June and her belly had only gotten bigger in the last three months, her emotions had been all over the map which required serious patience on harry's part as one moment she would be happy and the next moment she would break down in tears.
Harry had finally made a decision on a career path, he just hoped he had achieved a high enough score on his N.E.W.T's to pursue it.
"You're still awake?" Susan asked sleepily pulling Hary back to the here and now.
"I'm to exited to sleep, I'm a father!" Harry whispered happily.
Susan beamed at him and held her hands, nodding Harry stood and gently laid James in her arms before leaning and kissing Susan softly on the lips.
"He's beautiful." Susan cooed.
He takes after you." Harry said with a grin.
'I'll bet you a galleon his hair will be as unruly as yours." Susan said smirk.
"Ah yea the Potter curse, it has afflicted Potter men for centuries." Harry said gravely.
"Have you heard anything from Tonks?" Susan asked.
"Andromeda said she's still in Labor when I checked an hour ago." Harry answered a little to loudly as James awoke and started crying.
"Better feed the poor lad, I'll go see of there is any news about Tonks." Harry said with a smile as he headed out of the room to the lobby where Andromeda was sitting.
Tonks found out she was pregnant towards the middle of May, she hadn't had any of the normal symptoms women experience during early pregnancy, but when she went to the Auror infirmary to get a physical so she could rejoin the corp the healer informed her she was five months pregnant.
She had been riding a desk since with the exception of the Malfoy arrest seeing as she was the only Auror who could enter the house.
Harry had seen Andromeda in the lobby at midnight while he was on the way to get some tea from the canteen and discovered Tonks had went into labor today as well.
Entering the room Harry saw Tonks laying on her bed looking exhausted, holding a bundle in her arms and Andromeda fussing over them both.
"So he's arrived then?" Harry asked making his presence know.
"Yes Harry, but you should never enter a lady's room without knocking." Andromeda scolded.
"So what's his name, it is a boy isn't it?" Harry asked excitedly.
"It's a boy and his name is Teddy Remus Lupin." Tonks said with a smile.
Harry grinned widely and said. "I'm sure him and James will get on famously."
"Wait you named him James Potter, he's bound to be a trouble maker." Tonks said with a chuckle.
"Susan said much the same." Harry said with a shrug.
Harry walked closer and took a peek at the babe though all he could see was his hair which was a light blue color.
"He's a metamorph then?" Harry asked.
"Yes, Nymphadora's hair was pink when she was born and changed colors depending on her mood until she was three." Andromeda answered getting a scowl from tonks for using her full name.
"Well I hate to rush off but I need to go check on Suzie, congratulations Tonks." Harry said before he made his way back to Susan and James.
'The world is already brightrr with Voldemort gone.' Harry thought as he rejoined his wife and son.
Nineteen Years later
Kings Cross Station, London, England, 9/1/2017, 11:47
The traffic was insane today, and the Potter family was running behind even though they only had to take a taxi here from Charring Cross. The family of five seemed to disappear through the wall between platforms none and ten though the muggles in the area didn't take notice.
Today was little Amelia's first trip on the Hogwarts Express and Harry was truly sad to have all of his younger two children attending Hogwarts this year.
James was riding the train with them as he was apprenticing under Professor Flitwick to achieve his charms mastery, he had finished his seventh year the past May and Harry was very proud of the boy for being offered a chance apprentice under Filius who was planning to retire and wished for James to be his replacement.
Hermione Potter his middle child was in her fifth year and had made prefect for Ravenclaw house. She lived up to her namesake as she was very intelligent though she was also very rebellious and honestly Harry was surprised she made Prefect after the number of owls Minerva sent home about her behavior.
When they entered the station they immediately saw some familiar faces, Bill and Fleur and their three children, and the Potter family made their way over.
Hermione looked at Dominique Weasley and subtly nodded before saying. "Mom Dad, we're going to go find a compartment with Frank, I'll see you at Christmas." Then she gave Harry and Susan a hug.
"Goodbye Hermy, stay out of trouble I love you." Harry said warmly.
"Dad! I told you not to call me Hermy. I love you too." She said softly.
Susan a quick word with Hermione and Harry turned to Bill and Fleur and asked. "So how is my favorite Weasley ah and how are you doing... Bill wasn't it?" causing Fleur to giggle and making Bill scowl.
"We'd be better if the Lupin boy would stay away from my daughter, I caught him sneaking in her window two nights ago.." Bill said grumpily.
Harry snorted and said. "I know the feeling, Hermione seems to have her own admirer now, I'll have to have a word with Neville about his son, but if I catch the little creep sneaking in my daughter's window Neville will need a new heir.." Harry said.
"Bill you will leave Victoire alone, she is of age now." Fleur warned.
Harry was about to add more when he felt Amelia tap his arm to get his attention.
"Dad, will you please tell me how the sorting works?" Amelia asked.
Harry could see the nerves were really getting to her.
"You know I can't it's a tradition that the sorting ceremony is a surprise to the first years, why are you so nervous Amy?" Harry asked warmly.
"What if I get put in the wrong house?" She asked worry apparent in her emerald green eyes.
"There isn't a wrong house," Harry said pulling her into a hug before continuing, "All four of the houses produce great witches, you'll be great no matter which house you're sorted into."
"Even Slytherin?" Ameilia asked incredulously.
Harry had no doubt the hat would want to put her in Slytherin, out of all his children she was the most like him.
She favored him in appearance with her jet black hair and the same green eyes he had inherited from his mother, she was also the only one of his children to inherit the ability to speak to snakes.
"Like I said they're all great houses, Slytherin is no different." Harry assured her.
The whistle blew signaling there was two minutes until the train would depart, come on Amy let's get you on the train." Harry said before leviteting her trunk onto the train while Susan hugged her youngest.
A few minutes later Harry stood with his arm around his wife watching his children leave for Hogwarts.
"They'll be fine Suzie." Harry said softly when he saw the tear running down his wife's cheek.
"I know, I just can't believe they're already going to Hogwarts." Susan said sadly.
"True, but now we can both work the day shift." Harry said optimistically.
Harry and Susan had been alternating shifts at St. Mungos for the past couple of years now, since somebody had to be home when Amelia got home from school.
Harry was pleased how his life had turned out, he had three wonderful children a loving wife, and he hadn't had to fight anyone in almost two decades as far as he was concerned all was well.
