Ch. 1
It was around 6 am when 18-year-old Asuna Yuuki walked down her stares and entered the kitchen. Her mother Kyouko was already sitting at the table sipping her coffee and looking at something on her tablet, "Good morning Asuna." Her mother said after glancing up to see who entered the room.
"Good morning mother." Asuna said, disliking how formal she had to be in her own home.
"I saw you have a few days off from school this upcoming week."
Asuna looked puzzled at her mother as she took a seat in front of her, "Yes, I do? Is there something wrong?" Asuna asked confused why her mother was talking to her about her short break.
"That's good. I will schedule your meetings."
Asuna paused her eating at her mother's words. She got a sinking feeling as she asked, "Meetings, mother?"
"Yes, for your suitors. I have a few boys who would like to meet you."
"Mother I thought we had discussed this already. I will choose who I marry." Asuna said trying to hold back her rising anger at her mother's yet again, disregard for Asuna's opinion.
Kyouko glanced up at her daughter before looking back down, "And I agreed that you did need to have more of a choice. I, however, still plan to have you meet a certain set of young men."
Asuna clenched her fists, "Certain set of men?" Around this time Asuna's father Shouzou, entered the room.
"Yes Asuna. I understand that you wanted to stay at that second-rate school so you could be with your friends and I accepted because your grades have been so good. I will not however, tolerate you being around that boy." Kyouko sighed irritably.
Asuna also let out an irritated sigh, "Mother you've already had a background check on him and that was clean. What else does he have to do that…"
"He doesn't have to do anything." Kyouko interrupted, "That boy is simply not good enough for someone of your status."
"His name is Kazuto." Asuna all but growled.
Kyouko looked at her daughter confused, "Excuse me?"
"His name is Kazuto, Mother. Not 'that boy'."
Kyouko rolled her eyes, "I frankly don't care about his name, nor do I think I should I spend time learning a name I have no intention to hear again. That boy is no better than Kayaba or Suguo."
Asuna stood up so fast she knocked over her chair and she slammed her hands onto the table. This caused her glass to fall over and some food to come of her plate. Kyouko looked up at her daughter stunned, "Don't you ever. EVER. Let that sentence come out of your mouth again. How dare you compare Kirito to those people! To Suguo!"
At this point angry tears were falling from Asuna's eyes and her mother was shocked. Her father watched what was unfolding knowing full well what his wife had just done, "Now Asuna, calm down I know you don't like hearing their names, but this is a bit of an overreaction." Her mother said standing up as well.
"AN OVERREACTION!" Asuna screamed, "I frankly don't give a dam about how you see my reaction! You were completely in the wrong!"
Kyouko quickly rounded the table and stood in front of her daughter, "Excuse me! First of how dare you use that language and secondly I am not wrong I am trying to do what is best for you and it is definitely not some third-rate orphan who is obsessed with these dammed virtual games!"
Asuna lost all emotion, however tears still spilled from her eyes, "I'm done."
Kyouko looked at her daughter confused by her words, "Done with what?"
"You!" Asuna said sternly as she turned and quickly walked out of the room and past her father. She heard her mother calling for her to come back but she did not care. When she got to her room, she quickly grabbed a duffle bag. Shoved as many clothes and other things she needed into the bag as she could fit and walked out the door. She was halfway down the hall when her father came up, he looked at the bag then at her hands.
"Are you sure this is what you want?" Asuna nodded and he sighed.
Shouzou smiled sadly, "I assume you're going to his house. So please just be careful. I understand what your mother said was wrong and I know she was wrong but please… just don't hate her."
"I don't hate her I just… I cannot live like this anymore dad. I don't want to disappoint you, but I just don't want my life decided for me." Asuna managed to choke out through her tears.
"Oh Asuna." Shouzou hugged his daughter, "You could never be a disappointment to me. I know it's hard for you right now but just know this is and will always be your home."
Asuna hugged him back and laid her head on his chest, "Thank you, dad. I'll text you every day."
"Thank you, and please keep your credit card, anything you need, get it ok?" Shouzou said backing up slightly, laying his hands on her shoulders.
Asuna nodded and smiled slightly, "Ok thank you. Bye dad."
"Bye sweetie."
Asuna quickly walked down the stairs only to run into her mother, "And just where are you going?"
Asuna looked at her mother in anger, "Anywhere but here."
Asuna moved to go by her mother but she grabbed her arm, "I will not allow you to go to that boys home!"
Asuna yanked her arm free, "You have no choice in this matter. Mother." With that Asuna opened the door and slammed it on her way out. Asuna ran as fast as she could to Kirito's house. When she finally reached the outer gate, she was breathing heavily. She quickly walked to the front door and rapidly knocked. Within seconds the door was opened, and Kirito looked shocked until Asuna started crying and grabbed him like her life depended on it.
Before Asuna came to the door:
With the Kirigaya Family:
It was 6:20 am when 17-year-old Kirito woke up and headed down the stairs. He turned into the kitchen to see his little sister Suguha and his mother Midori already sitting at the table, "Morning guys." Kirito said walking to the counter and grabbed his plate.
"Good morning Kazuto." Midori smiled at her son.
Sugu yawned and took another sip of her coffee, "Morning big bro."
"So, are you and Asuna doing anything interesting today?" Midori asked with a hint of teasing, this went unnoticed by Kirito though.
"I'm not sure yet probably go see a movie or go to the park."
"You know Kazuto your old enough now to where I trust your judgment and know that if you ever wanted alone time with Asuna all you have to do is say so…" Kirito choked on his drink and started coughing. Sugu patted him on the back.
"What the heck Mom!" Kirito managed to choke out irritably.
Midori waved dismissively with a smile, "Oh, come now Kazuto you don't really expect me to believe that you two haven't done anything by now it's been over two years! I am not trying to encourage you or anything, but I am also not stupid. Plus, I know that you two were together in SAO."
This caused Kirito to choke more, "How did you know about that?"
"I've heard you all talking about it before. I also happened to hear that you two were married in the game as well."
Kirito blushed at his mother's words, "Mom please, don't be mad."
"Do I sound upset? I think Asuna is a wonderful young woman. I am glad you met her. I think she will be a wonderful mother and wife someday." This caused Sugu to chuckle and Kirito sent her a glare.
This caused Midori to become suspicious, "What was that about?"
"Nothing!" They said in sync.
Midori looked at them suspiciously, "Alright now I know something is up. Suguha why did you laugh? Do you not think Asuna is good for your brother? Or is it you think she won't make a good mother or wife?" She questioned staring at her youngest child.
Sugu hesitated glancing at Kirito before choosing her words carefully, "It's not that mom it's just… they are still married in the game we all play too."
Midori looked at Kirito with slight surprise, "Is that true?"
Kirito sighed, "Yes, we are also married in ALO."
Midori clapped her hands, "Oh that is so sweet! Well I guess all you have to do is marry her here now and you two will be married in all realities! Just don't tell me you two are already parents as well." Midori laughed but stopped when Kirito did not jump to the defensive, "Kazuto… you're not a father, right?" This caused Kirito to scratch the back of his neck and look away.
Right as Midori was about to say something else rapid knocks came from the front door. Kirito quickly got up and went to the door. Opening it only to find a very distraught Asuna with a duffle bag. He didn't even get in a word before more tears spilled from her eyes and she clutched onto him for dear life. He wrapped his arms around her holding onto her tightly, "Asuna what's wrong?"
Midori and Sugu rounded the corner quickly at Kirito's question. He turned to look back at them, "Asuna are you ok?" Sugu asked concerned for her friend. Asuna released Kirito, he took her hand and guided her into the house and into the living room sitting her down on the couch.
Kirito sat down beside her and pulled her into his side, "Asuna what happened?" He asked while rubbing her back as she cried into his shoulder.
"I had a really bad fight with my Mother… again."
Kirito looked concerned, "Again?" He asked exasperated. It was the third fight in the last two weeks.
Asuna nodded, "But this one was the worst. She… she… said you were like them." Asuna began crying again, "How could she say that! How could she compare you to those people! Your nothing like them… like him."
Kirito hugged her tighter into him, "It's alright. I'm right here." After about thirty minutes Asuna had mostly recovered and explained what had happened between her and her mother. Midori was furious at what she heard. Sugu was upset and worried about her friend. Kirito was just worried about his girlfriend.
"That woman has some nerve. I am so sorry you had to go through that Asuna. You are welcome to stay here as long as you would like. What kind of mother does that to her child?!" Midori asked to no one in particular as she got up and walked into the kitchen. Talking to herself, "I can understand where she's coming from. She's a mother she's worried but that was most definitely not the way to go."
After Midori was out of sight Kirito looked to Asuna, "Hey, do you want to go see Yui?"
Asuna smiled a small smile, "Yeah I think that would do me good. She always has a way of making me feel more at ease."
"Do you have your Amusphere?"
Asuna nodded, "Yeah, it's in my duffle bag."
Kirito smiled, "Alright go on up and get yourself logged in I'll be up in a second. My room is that last on the left." Asuna nodded and grabbed her bag and headed up.
Sugu watched Asuna as she walked up the stairs. She looked back at her brother concerned, "Do you really think Yui can help? You're not going to tell her what happened are you?"
Kirito shook his head, "No, I don't want to upset Yui too. But she does have this way of making me and Asuna feel more at ease."
Midori walked back in, "Who is Yui and why does Asuna want to go see her?"
Sugu tried to get up and sneak off but her mother caught her quickly, "Sugu sit. Neither of you are leaving this room until I have gotten some answers." Midori sighed and looked at Kirito, "Is Yui your daughter, Kazuto?" Kirito ran his hands down his face and sighed.
"Yes, she is. She is mine an Asuna's daughter. Before your mind starts wondering. No, we did not have her in the game. We adopted her back in SAO. She is not another player nor is she an NPC in the game. She is an AI that Kayaba created to help monitor the mental states of those of us in SAO. During that time however something happened, and she was able to defy the system. We found her wondering alone in the woods not far from our house in SAO. We took her in, and she's been our daughter ever since." Kirito explained as simply as he could.
Midori was silent for a good few minutes before she looked back at Kirito, "I want to meet her."
Sugu and Kirito looked at her shocked, "What?" Kirito asked stunned.
"Well if you and Asuna think of her as your daughter then I need to feel as though she is my granddaughter. I want to meet my granddaughter. Now." Midori said firmly putting her hands on her hips.
Kirito shook his head a little to get over the shock, "Umm… Alright. Ok… Hey Sugu could you make mom a spare account?" Still stunned she just nodded and got up to go do so. Kirito looked back to his mother, "I am going to go log on and tell Asuna and Yui what's going on. Sugu will make you an account and show you how to log on an I'll meet you in the game." Kirito got up to head upstairs with his mother in tow.
"Wait how will I know it's you?" Midori asked before Kirito entered his room as well.
Kirito let out a chuckle, "Oh, you'll know, trust me."
With that Kirito walked into his room and closed the door. Midori knocked on Sugu's door and walked in. Kirito walked over to his bed where his girlfriend lay with the Amusphere on. He grabbed his own rig and sat down on the bed kissing her forehead before laying down beside her and logging on. His avatar appeared in his and Asuna's room. Seconds later he heard little footsteps running towards the room. The bedroom door was flung open as his daughter quickly ran to him. She practically tackled him into a hug, "Daddy! You're here too!" Yui said excitedly causing Kirito to laugh. A few seconds after Yui flung open the door Asuna joined them in the room. Also laughing at their daughter's excitement, "I am so happy you're both here!" The young girl smiled.
Kirito smiled down at his daughter and gave her a big hug in return, "I'm happy to see you to Yui. Hey, Yui can you go back into the living room for a minute I need to talk to your Mommy about something." Yui nodded and squeezed him one more time before heading into the living room.
"What is it Kirito?" Kirito did not look at her quite yet making her worry. She walked closer and stood in front of him, "Kirito?"
He sighed and looked at her, "Asuna, I'm sorry. My mom found out about Yui and who she is."
Asuna looked out the bedroom window, "You don't have to be sorry Kirito. I'm not upset. Your mother is a very understanding and nice woman." She looked back at him, "But why tell me now?"
"Because she'll be logging on in a few minutes to meet her." Kirito said rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
Asuna's eyes went wide, "Wait what? She's coming here, now, to meet Yui?"
Kirito nodded, "When I explained who Yui was she immediately said she had to meet her granddaughter."
"So… Ok… Alright, this is fine. First, we need to go and tell Yui and then need to head to Sylph territory. Right?" Kirito nodded and they headed into the living room.
