This is my first upload so I apologize in advance for any crappy writing or add spacing.
The Rising Of The Shield Hero X Skyrim
This story has been about a year in development, I only decided to put it up thanks to my wonderful Beta Reader and Editor
Anomalous ShadowWolf!
I don't own The Rising Of The Shield Hero or Skyrim (duh)
Not an active writer so this might be a one shot, sorry.
Frea,
The Blade agents I sent to guard Mirraks temple have gone missing. I have searched the whole Island for them but I have not seen hair nor hide of the two. I have brought Serana with me to investigate the temple ruins. I know we destroyed the place after we freed the Island of his influence, but the temple has somehow repaired itself. The entrance is open once more and I sense great magic inside. If I do not return, do not panic, I have placed runes around the temple that should stop the powerful magic I've sensed from controlling the stones for a time. If I do not return let Lydia know I will be off on one of my expeditions again. I doubt that I will be returning soon, but If I do I will let you know what I have found. Do not panic.
Ysmir
"Do you think that he really would come back after your last battle. I thought that Mirraks soul was ripped from him. Could he really survive all that?." Serana was walking down a corridor with a torch in one hand and feeling the walls with the other.
"I don't know, but Frea lost her father the last time and that was just to even the battlefield field. I don't want other people suffering for my battles, ending the war in Skyrim was hard enough on the people." The Dragonborn was walking with a glowing orb above his head and a sword in his hands that glowed with an ethereal flame that seemed to breathe just as its wielder.
Both were walking towards a chamber in the deepest level, a pedestal rested in the center of the room. On the pedestal that once held one of the Black Books, a portal to the realm of a daedric prince, was a small book with words made of gold printed on the front.
" 'The Cardinal Heroes' Huh, Never read this one before. You think this is just one of Hermaeus Mora's traps again ?" Serana inspected the room around them looking for any other clues as to why this book was here.
"I don't know but I know he wouldn't give knowledge that even an old bat like yourself wouldn't know unless it was urgent." Ysmir was rather proud of that nickname for her, However Serana felt that name earned a mild lightning spell.
"You know I hate that nickname, Why do you even keep using that. I'm human now, same as anyone else."
"That doesn't change that you probably could have bedded my great great grandfather." The DragonBorn chuckled as another surge of lightning hit him.
"Ow. Son of a-" Ysmir placed a glowing hand over the spot that was struck by the blast.
"If I had you'd have much better manners and you'd be a hell of a lot more handsome." Ysmir chuckled as the two continued down the hallway.
Stepping towards the pedestal in the middle of the room he picked up the book caution as his top priority. Expecting the tentacles to wrap around him and draw him through the space between the realms, but that didn't happen. What happened was he felt light and he felt at ease, like his own fast travel spell almost. There were 3 other people in the magic circle near him and more people in robes in front of him. This was a surprise to Ysmir as much as it was for them.
"Woah, who's the comicon nerd."
"He looks like something straight out of an RPG game."
"He also looks dangerous."
He glanced at the 3…
Boys standing next to him, they were not children but standing next to a 6'11 tall nord with a full beard of black hair and arms strong enough to crack solid wood with a single punch. They were not men, they looked old enough to take over their fathers trade but they were definitely not warriors from the way they held those weapons. Speaking of there was a forign weight on his left arm, when he glanced down it was a small shield only big enough to cover some of his torso. But even then he doubted that it was as strong as dragonplate armor lined in daedric metal.
"Oh please great Cardinal Heros. Please save our world." There were men in front of the others and they spoke up to the four of them, He bowed down to them as did the others behind him. He hated when people did that, He hated it when he was forced to do it for High Queen Elisif, thankfully she assured him the Dragonborn needn't bow to anyone.
"I cannot speak for the others but I will help anyway I can, But please stop bowing. We are not of this realm and do not give us respect we have not yet earned." The DragonBorn spoke and the priest figures rose up to look at him but had fear in their eyes when they looked upon him.
"Hey! I don't need you speaking for me pal. If I'm going to help I want something in return here. I'm not gonna just help them out of the kindness of my heart ya know." The one with a spear seemed to not know of the skill tact. He spoke just like that prick Nazeem.
"I also agree with him, we just got here. We don't owe anything to these people and they have no right to just ask us for our services." The one with the sword spoke with an air of calm. But he could sense the emotions running through him. He was tense and nervous.
"I'm going to have to agree with these two, I just don't think it's right to just drop us into this world with no warning and ask us to save a world we don't even know." The one with the bow seemed to have the most level head out of the three. At least he seemed willing to help for an explanation.
He turned towards them. "Well if you all want nothing to do with them, I suggest you ask to be sent back. I'm going to see what use I can be of here." Ysmir spoke with an air of serious calm around him as he turned toward the priest.
"Take me to the one who asks for our aid." The Priest gestured past him into a corridor. Out into a courtyard towards another building that looked like the Blue Palace.
The others made no mention of it but he saw the face of a woman scowling at him from a window above him. He had a bad feeling about this place.
The DragonBorn walked with the priest and the 3 other "Heros" he couldn't help but notice how much this place reminded him of The Blue Palace. They were led into a throne room and a large one at that with a man who looked like he was drawn in a children's book sat in a throne with nobles above him in stands at either side of the room.
"So you four are the Four Cardinal Heroes of legend ? This is the land of Melromarc, and I am her king Ault Cray Melromarc The XXXii. Welcome brave heroes, Please Identify yourselves." The king spoke as one would expect a king would to foreigners. But that unnerved The Dragonborn, if he and these other heroes were legends. Should he really speak as if they were just peasants or nobles.
The one with the sword spoke first. "I'm Ren Amaki, I'm a highschool student and I'm 16 years old."
While Ysmir didn't didn't know what the "High" school he was a student of, he knew that this boy was only 16 years of age and he himself was nearing his 32nd.
The one with the spear spoke next. "I'm Motoyasu Kitamura, I'm a 21 year old college student, 21."
Next the one with a bow. "I suppose I'm up next, I'm Itsuki Kawasumi. I'm still in highschool and I'm 17."
The DragonBorn stepped forward, the king was attempting to speak over him but he cut him off. He saw the king looking at him with disgust in his eyes the whole time the others had been speaking. Ysmir smirked as he continued the introductions despite the king attempting to speak over him.
"I am Ysmir, Dragon Of The North, Slayer of Alduin The World Eater, Archmage Of The College Of Winterhold, Harbinger Of The Companions, Slayer Of Miraak The First Blood, Slayer Of Harkon The Eternal, Friend Of The Skaal, Guildmaster Of The Thieves Guild, Destroyer Of The Brotherhood, Servant of Daedric Lords, Champion of the Divines and The Last DragonBorn." Once he listed all of the titles he had accumulated over his 5 years of becoming the dragonborn, the entire room was left in silence.
The king cleared his throat. " I… I suppose I need to explain why we brought you all here. My kingdom of melromarc and the entire world surrounding it are heading down a path that leads to certain doom."
Not the first time he's heard that and looks like it won't be the last.
The King explained the story of the world being tormented by these "waves" and if they are not stopped the world will meet its end. Each country has a special hourglass that can predict the waves arrival and the first of the waves washed over just before we arrived and between the local knights and the wandering adventures they fended off the wave. However with each wave that passes they will only become more powerful and the next wave arrives in the coming month.
"We underestimated the potency of the waves. After we experienced the first one and barely survived, we realized that only the four cardinal heroes could counter them. So we followed the legend and summoned you Four, but now we have no time to lose." the King looked at them with a pleading gaze, but Ysmir could feel the underlying venom in it.
The "Sword hero" clashed his blade on the ground, a good way to flatten a blade.
"Ok we get the gist of it, but I hope you didn't honestly expect us to help you all for free."
Of course they're still on that subject. Come on, he can still feel his enchanted pouch "bursting" with gold he got from just doing random tasks given by locals. Granted some of them turned into really odd adventures, But still simple all the same. Seriously how was he supposed to know helping a man find a dog would lead to him meeting Clavicus Vile.
"Of course not, once you repel all the waves I can assure you will all be rewarded handsomely." the servant next to the king spoke for him in this matter.
The "Spear hero" spoke once again with that arrogance of a whelp who just learned to swing a sword. "Well, I guess we have no choice but to take you for your word."
Next the Sword. "As long as you don't renegotiate we'll help you. But don't think for a moment you can tame us."
This was going too far with these arrogant attitudes. The bow spoke next.
"Exactly we won't put up with you looking down on us." This was the final straw, they needed to know that they were not above the law and others.
Using just an ounce of his usual strength he called upon the Thu'um and spoke to the floor. It was time to try to get these whelps to understand some manners.
"fus"
The ground shook as he spoke and the guards and noblemen trembled as did the heroes and king. But one stood above them not moving as the ground demanded them to. The Dragonborn looked at the Whelps with a gaze that would send vampires running to the dawnguard for protection.
"I will not stand your tone whelps, you speak to a king as if he is some child while you all demand gold for your work. You are not simple folk anymore, you are heroes. Act like it." The room shook once more at his voice.
"I-if the terms are not to your liking we may change them." The servant peeked out from behind the throne.
"No, let them enjoy their wealth while women and children watch their fathers and husbands be slaughtered before their very eyes. Let them revel in gold as children are crying out in the street for parents who have been claimed by demons." He spoke and watched as the three slightly shrunk under his gaze and words.
Ysmir calmed himself down with a long breath, he shouldn't let his Dragon blood boil too much. He doubted that this kingdom could handle the strength of a dragonborn.
"If the terms are agreed to, I would like you all to check your status." The king attempted to resume his air of supremacy but that's hard when a man just shook your whole castle with a talking to.
"Wait what? What's our "status" " The bow hero asked.
"Are you all dense, it should have been obvious." the Sword hero spoke with his usual fake calm. Shove a sweet roll in it.
"See the icon in your lower left vision. Focus on it." he said
Focusing on a small square in his vision, a small table of information sprung out with his information for only him to see by the looks of it.
"Only level one huh." the Bow hero prodded at thin air. "Well that's really disconcerting isn't it."
The Spear hero did the same. "Yeah, I don't know how we can really fight like this."
The Dragonborn grew a slight smile while glancing at the table.
Level 350
He chose to keep that information to himself, seems wandering around Skyrim for 5 years helped greatly.
"So what is all this exactly ?" The bow hero prodded once more in the air.
The servant spoke again. "It's called status magic and it's exclusive to the heroes."
" So, what's the plan, where do we go? What's the first step?" the Sword hero asked.
The kind rose up to stand gesturing to the heroes.
"You must first set out on an adventure to strengthen your legendary weapons."
Ysmir pondered what this meant. Normally "Legendary Weapons" couldn't be altered by mortal hands. Sure he might be able to sharpen them with the right material or restring them. But never able to really alter them. Not to mention the "weapon" he reccieved was more of a "Get off me you stupid Dragur" kind of weapon only good for bashing. He'd have to check his inventory space later, see if he can find his sword.
The spear hero started attempting to show off by twirling the spear and almost hitting Ysmir and the sword hero in one move.
"Can't we just use other weapons till these ones are usable ?" The spear hero was starting to get on his nerves but asked a fair question.
Ysmir spoke once again, careful to keep his volume down. " I was once asked to kill friends and family by a Daedric Lord to strengthen a greatsword fueled by betrayal and blood." Ysmir said this with a straight face to the other heroes.
"Needless to say I melted that sword into an ingot and tossed it into the sea, but the point is like that sword they need to grow with their wielder. Either through blood or some other method." The king looked distressed by the story, more so than others when he told them that story.
"Speaking of the matter, I neglected to say one thing." the servant spoke once again. I really do not like the grin he just adopted. The man looked like a weasel.
"You will all need to gather members of a party and adventure separately. By the very nature of the weapons just being close to each other will cause them to hinder each other's development." The little goblin spoke the truth, the other weapons made him feel the need to move away from them. Or that could be because their wielders are getting on his nerves.
"The sun will set soon, please spend the night here. You may begin your quest tomorrow. Meanwhile we will gather the best of the best to fill your parties." He gestured to a maiden behind them.
"Please sirs, right this way we have chambers prepared for you." She pointed with her hand while bowing to them. He was really starting to not like this place, give me sabertooths and giants over this formal stuff anyday.
"I guess when your legendary heroes get special treatment." The spear hero was sitting on a nearby bed while Ysmir and the Bow hero were in chairs at a table in the middle of the room. The Sword hero was leaning on the wall in the shadows like a child.
The Spear Hero leaned on his spear while closing his eyes, no doubt trying to imagine the view they had on the ridiculously long staircase up here.
The maidens rear end, not the city.
"Ha, the only time I ever got this treatment was when I finally slayed Alduin. Even then, all this formal crap always made my skin crawl." Ysmir grimaced at the servants at the Blue Palace trying to serve him in every way possible, EVERY possible way. Needless to say some servants woke up with a blank mind and a lump on their heads.
"Wait, you said that name back in the throne room too, Who's Aldwin ?" The bow hero asked.
"You don't know Alduin, The World Eater, First born of the Divine Akatosh. Dragon God Of Time. None of these ring a bell for you." Ysmir couldn't believe it when he shook his head no.
"What is that some other game's story, come on dude you're taking the roleplay a little too far. Keep your weird Character story in that game and focus on this one ok pal." Those words were not the best choice of words.
"Role Playing ? Do you think me having to follow a demigod Dragon into the realm of the dead was just some made up fantasy because it's not. In fact, I still have the bone from his horn to prove it." Ysmir opened up the bag at his side.
"Oh yeah well then let's see some proof mister tall, dark and HMPH !" The Spear hero ate his words as a horn the size of his head was slammed into him at speeds that shouldn't have been possible given the space between the two.
"That proof enough for ya blondie. Or do I have to bring out his brethren horns as well. Or you could just take my word as the one who had to kill hundreds of the damn lizards." Ysmir was loving the shocked looks on the other heroes faces.
"Wait, that actually hurt you Motoyasu?" Of course they just ignore he pulled something of that size out of his pocket.
"Ow, yeah what the hell. That felt so real, I thought that they were still working on that tech because someone died after falling off a cliff in another game." Wait what…
"Wait, someone died because of a game ? Why haven't I heard about this?" The Bow hero looked genuinely distressed.
"You didn't hear, yeah someone was playing some AR games and the system actually killed him from a bullet to the head." The spear hero was marveling at the sheer size of the horn wondering how much this was worth. Then Ysmir grabbed it from his hands before he could get any ideas.
"What you've got to be kidding. AR tech hasn't even been a year in development. You must be crazy or something." Oh so the Sword Hero CAN speak.
" Wait what? They've already got some of those games out on mobile and even some in VR games too." What are these words they keep talking about?
"Hold it, What are you talking about? What is this VR and AR, are they from your kingdoms specifically?" Ysmir was heavily confused about what was happening.
" Wait, you don't know about this stuff ? And What kingdoms are you talking about? Kingdoms were phased out after 1992." The Spear Hero was already making no sense. But now he was talking crazy.
"Hmmm. I have an idea on the count of three everyone say whose face is on the 1000 yen bill." The Spear Hero was making Ysmir's head hurt now.
Needless to say they all said different people but while they talked Ysmir headed out to the balcony. If this world, realm or wherever he was had some properties of his old one he should be able to access his inventory like with the Alduin's horn. Reaching into his pouch he pulled out a bronze shield with small crystals lining it and a massive crystal in the middle. The Aetherial shield, the last piece of Dwemer aetherium smithing.
The shield was suddenly absorbed by the smaller shield causing something to appear in the "Status Magic" .

"What in th-"
Suddenly he felt his heart beat faster as his brain was flooded with new information and his muscles tensed like when he was training back in riverwood with Delphine. When the feeling faded he was breathing heavily and could feel more muscle under his armor than there should have been. He was actually steaming a bit from the experience, taking a look up at the stars he felt his vision left his body and entered the space of the signs.
A way he was able to become powerful enough to defeat Alduin was using the Star Signs to help him gather strength in multiple ways. But now there was only one star surrounded by nothing but darkness.
Reaching out he felt him grow stronger in mind and body. He felt all those meaningless hours of lockpicking were now just flukes and he could break advanced locks without a skeleton key. He felt that time he barely managed to flee the markarth guards meant more and more. He could feel all those years as the Nameless wanderer and as Ysmir the Dragonborn became one. He felt all his skills leap up to the experience of masters of their crafts. Something else also awakened during this, and it was stronger than ever.
"Hey you ok out here Ysmir. You just kinda left without saying a word." The bow hero came out of the room along with the others.
"We figured you would want to hear this, we all came from different worlds as well as different times. From the way you hold yourself you seemed familiar with this kinda environment. We wanted to ask you for some advice seeing as how you already know how this world works somewhat." The Sword hero came out next followed by the spear hero who was yawning immensely.
"Hmm, you want some real advice or you want me to tell you how to be real heroes?" Ysmir knew they were younger than him and by the sword heroes explanation came from worlds that didn't face extinction every few centuries.
The looks on their faces told him that they would need it.
"Don't trust anyone, Don't let your guard down and especially don't lose your moral compass. If this world is anything like mine it's going to be as cruel and cold as a steel sword is to flesh. We are meant to save this land and her people so don't let the world lure you into feeling powerful. There will always be a stronger opponent." With those words he headed back inside the chill of the night was nothing compared to skyrim's frosty winds but it was only teasing him with memories of home.
Waking up earlier and fully rested than the others, Ysmir pulled a bottle of mead and some Horker loaf out of his bag and ate it faster than the eye could see. He decided to experiment with his new equipment as well as test some simple spells. Turns out he can't hold a sword or any weapon for that matter.
They all just flew out of his hand. He'd have to apologise to whoever was hit with that Dwarven Warhammer that flew out of the window. His spells were the same as they were but they also seemed different as well. His healing spells made him feel better than the first time he killed a dragon, he couldn't test how his resurrection spells worked but he could summon his attronochs just fine. They even seemed stronger than before. All the other classes of magic would need to wait. As they all had been called to see the king once again. Walking into the Throne room once more this time there was a line of 13 people standing before the king.
" We have gathered the greatest warriors in the land to stand by you. These warriors will fight off the waves beside you." Ysmir was not a fan of not choosing his party along the way but if this was their culture so be it.
"Our future champions, the time has come to begin your journey." The explorers walked towards the heros with purpose in their stride.
'So we do not get to choose our companions ?' Ysmir found this odd.
Ysmir couldn't help but notice the massive party difference with 5 parting with the Sword and 3 joining the Bow and 4 joined the Spear. No one had chosen him as their leader. Ysmir didn't mind this as he didn't want another Lydia incident. Hey, it's not his fault she wouldn't listen when he said run, she tried to take on 3 trolls at once that was on her. Thankfully she won that fight, then was crushed by a landing dragon. Thank the Divines he had studied restoration magic so much.
"Shield Hero, It appears you have not received any followers in your party, although that may be because of a certain rumor running in the castle." The king looked at the shield hero in a certain disgust.
"The rumor states that the Shield Hero is supposedly communicating with demons. Adventures may not want a leader who practices such arts." Someone must have seen him summon his flame atronach.
Ysmir sighed and raised his hand letting a purple orb floating into the center of the room. A few guards tensed as did most of the "companions" Ysmir simply held his hand up.
"This is not a demon." A flame atronach flew out of the large orb and "landed" in front of Ysmir.
"I was simply testing my magics, we call this a Flame Attornach. As you can see they do appear demonic but they are not "Demons" as you put it." Ysmir watched the guards tense as the atronach simply floated there and waited to be commanded.
"I do not require a party, I can handle myself just fine." Ysmir doubted the rest saw this, but he swore he saw a tick mark appear on the king's head.
Suddenly a hand came out of the Spear heros party "Sir Hero. May I join the Shield Heros party ?" A young lady stepped out of the line behind the spear hero.
She looked like she could hold her own enough, though if she was one of the few "Best" warriors this world had, this world was in trouble.
"It just doesn't seem right to have him on his own especially if he doesn't know how this world works. I would like to transfer to his party." The lady stepped towards Ysmir but was obviously intimidated by his sheer aura.
The King pondered this. "Very well if the Spear hero agrees you may transfer into his party." Wait, he didn't get a say in this ?
"Well, I guess it's alright, you ok to take her on Ysmir?" Motoyasu looked over to Ysmir to confirm but everyone was surprised when Ysmir walked over and held an orb of red light in front of her face.
She flinched but the light simply began covering the girl in a red aura. It didn't burn but it did seem to do… something. Ysmir was just placing a small amount of magic over her to test her body.
"Hmmmm. This one is weaker than the others, but also has great potential. I will allow her to stand by my side." He reached out his hand taking her by the forearm he nodded at her.
"Welcome to the Doom Driven party, Shield Sister."
She clasped his arm back but she had a strained smile on her face as he welcomed her. Ysmir just ignored it, guessing it to be some left over paranoia from Skyrim.
The King had given them funds to pay for their armor and their party equipment. Naturally Ysmir Received more as he only had 2 people in his party. His new companion and Shield Sisters name was Myne, she seemed way too formal for his liking. She was currently showing him around the village outside the castle, Showing him to a blacksmith shop to buy some armor and weapons for her as Ysmir had everything he ever needed in his inventory space.
"Hey there, welcome. Please have a look around. I've got the best weapons and armor in town here." If only that was the first time he heard that line.
"Actually I'm going to need a forge do you have one here ?" Myne was surprised by this move.
"Sure it's just back here but you're going to have to pay to use it, man still has to run a business ya know." Ysmir dropped 20 gold coins on his counter as he walked back.
"Keep the change."
-20 minutes later-
Myne was bored as Ysmir was pounding metal into a shape then dousing it in an oil he had pulled out of his pouch. She decided to ask for some information on who he was and Ysmir was not one to deny lending his ears.
"You know you made quite a show in the throne room when you arrived I've heard. How did you make the whole room shake with your voice ?" Myne made sure to keep away from the forges raging heat as Ysmir worked.
"It is called the "Thu'um" or as known to the commoners who do not know the meaning in dragon tongue, Shouting." Ysmir was now pulling the metal into a pile next to a workbench.
"So you just yelled and you shook the room, just like that?" Myne was confused and was clearly showing it.
"No, It is a type of magic only known to some talented people and the dragons of my world. I know most of their language as a special case in my world known as Dragonborn or Dovahkiin to the Dragons." He started adding leather pieces and strips to the armor.
"Dragonborn that sounds important, Um... was your… You know..." Myne wasn't about to say what came to mind but Ysmir saw her face.
"Haha, No I am not born from Dragons flesh. I have the Soul and Blood of a dragon giving me an ability to speak as the dragons do without training as long as I have certain... resources." Ysmir was putting the final touches on her armor and sword.
"Really? That sounds amazing, is there anything else it lets you do?" Ysmir was now done with her armor and her weapon. A set of elven armor ( minus the helmet as per Mynes request ) and a sword made of glass. Not the stuff made of sand but a type of crystal that was almost clear.
"Not unless you count the dragons either respecting me on occasion or flat out seeing me as an abomination." He handed her the armor and stepped out of the forge as she changed.
-30 minutes later-
"Now I know why Erik warned me never to take Serana shopping in Solitude.''
Ysmir had been standing her for what felt like an eternity.
"Wow this armor is so light it almost feels just like normal clothing. How did you make this ?" Myne finally decided to return from oblivion it seemed.
"If I told you I'd have to kill you and bury your body inside a mountain." Ysmir said that with no hint of sarcasm in his voice. Myne nervously chuckled and told him to wait outside for her.
Myne went over to the shop and started asking him some questions where she thought Ysmir couldn't hear her.
"So how much would you buy his armor for sir ?" So Myne was planning on selling his armor? Like Oblivion she would. The thing is magically bound to him, she would need to kill him to take it off without his consent. That was a very unlikely thing to happen in itself.
"I don't know what those things are made of, so I'd say about 100 silver for it all. Though that's only because I don't know how durable the thing is, I mean it's made of black bones for god's sake." Ha, that's what everyone thinks until their sword breaks in two on a bad hit.
Myne walked back with a hint of annoyance on her face. He'd have to keep an eye on her, but for now she resumed her usual attitude.
"So where should we go next, Sir Hero ?" Myne stepped in front of him pushing her breast out towards him. Ha nice try but if vampires couldn't magically seduce him she didn't have a chance.
"Maybe we should go and see if we can get you stronger by doing battle."
"Hmm, I suppose you're right, maybe I can work the kinks out of my muscles. You may even learn a few things." Ysmir moved past Myne so he didn't see the look of utter disgust she had on as he left.
"Ok so you just have to pop those little monsters, I'll support you from here and help if I can." Myne had led him out to a field just outside of town.
"You needn't worry about me. I am plenty skilled in combat. Worry about yourself and your strength, just call me if you need assistance." Ysmir disappeared into thin air only leaving a small flash of purple where he stood.
From where he was he could see the other Heros using their weapons to their advantage. Fortunately the first weapon man is given is his hands, and Ysmir had been in plenty of fist fights and even managed to beat an orc in a fair fight. Said orc could rip a man's arms off and beat him to death with them and Ysmir watched him do it.
Sneaking into the field he silently popped some of the round orange monsters that barely stood a chance against his blows. His fist left sizable craters from his blows and nothing left but shreds of them. Suddenly a cry rang out in the field, Looking around he saw Myne surrounded by the "little balloon creatures" as the others called them. Motoyasu was racing towards her, but Ysmir had already decided to take care of the problem.
"GAAN LAH HAAS"
A massive wave of purple energy shot from where Ysmir stood when it made contact with a blade of grass it wilted instantly, and when it hit the balloon creatures they popped instantly. Myne was hit with the blast as well making her sink to her knees, she felt as if someone had put a hole in her soul and it was spilling out. Ysmir's never seen it do that to plant life, but that wasn't important. A thunderous boom rang out in the fields as Ysmir made his way over to her.
"WULD NAH KEST"
Suddenly he was in front of Myne. He placed his hands together and created a magic glowing orb that shined with a golden glow. He placed the orb into Myne's back, suddenly the plants around her came back to life with lush green grass and even flowers popping up around them. He remembered Mirrabel talking about restoration magic being potent but not to this extent. Maybe he had gained strength he didn't know was possible, either way Myne was back on her feet after a few seconds. She wobbled and needed to lean on Ysmir slightly to stand.
"What was that, you just said some weird words then all of a sudden I felt as if I was dying and then I wasn't... What kind of spell was that ?" Myne had a look of almost pure fear.
"That Shield Sister is why the Thalmor fear the dragon of the north." Myne had a look of horror on her face. Ysmir could guess why. Not many plan to sell a man's armor if not to get rid of him later, or if they want to get money for themselves.
Ysmir talked for what seemed like hours to him to Myne about his homeland.
"So t-that was the Thu'um you spoke of earlier Sir Hero, if so that truly is a power that belongs to the dragons." Myne had led him to a pub along with the other heroes and their parties.
"Yes, it is both a blessing as it is a curse. The way I do that magic as you called it is by speaking the words of the dragons tongue. The mountains bow to my will, the sky's shudder at my name and dragons see me as their equal. But that is not all there is to it." Ysmir took a hefty swig from his mug, this stuff isn't black briar but it would suffice. He wasn't even feeling tipsy yet and this was his 35th mug. How was this place even still giving him refills ?
"When I learn a new word in their tongue I also take the word onto my soul filling it with the meaning. I also experience the emotion that can come from the word, for example when I faced my greatest foe an ancient Dragon named Alduin The World Eater. The shout was made by a people forced into slavery by the dragons, an eternity under constant tourture and work made them bitter until they lashed out at their masters. The words were filled with such hate and suffering from their souls. I kept to myself for months out of fear of harming others." Ysmir set the mug down and sighed as he remembered the worried face of Serana and his family after his return.
As well as her face after he almost shouted them all into Sovngarde.
"That sounds horrible, are you alright Sir Hero." Myne leaned closer to him as he let out a sigh.
"Yes I'm quite fine. You should head up to your room and get some rest. It will serve you well tomorrow. We will most likely be headed out to a nearby kingdom to see if they are handling the waves as well as Melromarc." Ysmir emptied the mug down his gullet and headed up to his room.
He laid down on the bed after removing his armor, he was tempted to just fall asleep right then and there. But if his time in the Dark Brotherhood taught him anything even emperors leave things unlocked, and that gets them killed. He stood up and placed a couple runes around his room that would paralyze anyone who had any ill intent who stepped near them. He also locked his room door, and he placed a dormant Frost atronach in the corner. They were big, slow and had no range in their way of fighting. But were handy when cooling off a room as well as guarding it.
Dream
"I'll admit I'm surprised Karliah, to offer me a new follower... and a prize such as this. You have my blessing Karliah, do not make me regret giving you a second chance." The orb in the middle of the room disappeared.
"Lass, what did she mean by "a prize such as this" there something you aren't telling us?" Brynjolf stepped off his platform as did Karliah and Ysmir.
"I honestly have no idea, she only saw one of you as a Nightingale and the other as a sort of prize. I have an idea of what she may have meant, but that isn't important right now." Karliah began walking out of the room as the other two Nightingales followed her.
"Lad, I've got no idea how you beat Mercer, man was a master of his craft swordplay. But I'm glad you did." Bryjolf sat by the fire Ysmir built in the small cave they were all in.
"I agree with Brynjolf. I couldn't see what was happening but you were quite loud." Karliah dried out her hood as she warmed her hands.
"So Akatosh's final mortal child comes before me, how interesting. Hermaus Mora and Hircine are also after your soul. A few others have chosen you as their champion as well. You'd do well not to die soon, I want to see who gets your soul when you finally pass into the void." Nocturnal floated over the Twilight Sepulcher.
"My lady, I agree it will be quite a debate between them all. I will also be rooting for you, my lady."
"Please, call me Nocturnal you are born of Akatosh's blood as well as my new champion. You are not just some other mortal. So please let us save the formalities for... business discussions, Ysmir."
Waking up he put his armor back on slowly today. He took a good long look at his new Dragon Bone Shield. He turned towards the door and looked down to a paralyzed figure on the floor.
"Well well well, Looks like someone doesn't know how to knock. Let's see whose head I'm giving to the guards." Ysmir rolled the figure over to see the figure face belonged to none other than Myne.
Although she could not move, her eyes still were able to move and they had a look of pure panic.
"Well now. Looks like you won't need to sell my armor now will you. That 100 silver worth it? Normally I'd just kill you but today I'm feeling generous as you did help me get settled in this world." Ysmir propped her up against a wall her eyes still frantically darting around.
Let's see what happens to traitors in this world.
"This woman is a traitor !" Throwing Myne onto the floor of the throne room Ysmir stepped into the king's throne room.
To say the king was surprised by this was an underestimate.
"What? I don't believe one of our best warriors would do such a thing." The King desperately tried to save face.
" No? Then why did she attempt to steal my equipment in the middle of the night. Your warrior triggered my runes while holding a sack and cloaked in black cloth." Ysmir was a thief but even then they had a code.
"Well then, if you would undo the spell we would like to hear what the Warrior has to say for herself." Doing as the King asked he undid the spell with some simple healing.
"Don't listen to him!" Myne threw the cloak of her and undid her hair that was obscuring her face.
"As Second princess of Melromarc, I testify this man had his way with me while I was paralyized." Ysmir could not believe the Troll droppings coming-
WAIT, PRINCESS !?
"No... If what you say is true my daughter, Then, Shield Hero you will be sentenced to death !" What is happening right now? There is no way that he didn't know she was his daughter.
Just then the other heroes stepped out from the crowd, all looking disappointed and with their parties in tow.
"I can't believe he would do that."
"I knew he couldn't be stable."
"This is just sad."
The guards in the room surrounded him with spears pointed at him. He didn't care about them, steel couldn't pierce his armor anyway, but he'd rather no one die today.
"Shield Hero, you are charged with the assault of the second princess of melromarc. How do you plead?" Ysmir knew he could leave now but better to try to not invoke the other heroes to act.
"Not guilty." Three shouts, Disarm, Dismay and Storm Call. It'd be oblivion on his throat but he needed to make sure they wouldn't follow him.
"Do you have any evidence to back up your claim ?" Just needed the right timing.
"No, But she cannot prove her claim as well." Myne was now crying into Motoyasu's shoulder.
Aw Sweet Rolls.
"The princess is clearly in distress. You are hereby sentenced to death, now go quietly or we will have to use force." The king as well as Myne if that was her name, had a smug smile. That faded in an instant when he started walking towards the king.
The guards try as they may couldn't stop him if they threw a mountain at him.
"ZUN HAAL VIIK"
The guards' spears flew from their hands and stabbed into the walls and went soaring out the windows.
"STRUN BAH QO"
Suddenly a small storm shrouded the castle, making the throne room darkened. Small bursts of lightning struck at the castle scaring most inside.
"FAAS RU MAAR"
A wave of red magic washed over everyone in the room. They all froze in pure terror at the dragon in man's skin in front of them.
"Do not forget King, I have fell far more dangerous enemies than your army and mages. You may try to hunt me down for this. But remember my words well today, I have no quarrel against you, the other heroes or your kingdom. Do not make me have one."
With that he walked away leaving the entire room in darkness and the people in it in fear of the Dragon Of The North.
