Series: Charlotte has Five Disciples Manhua
A:N- Dem plot bunnies keeps on coming and won't dang shut up
The Accidental Fourth Disciple
It happened after she convinced Lady Montes that she be allowed to take in her son Dan who could no longer control his powers.
She convinced the woman easily who is terrified of her son and wished she never had him as a child of the devil. What a horrible thing to say, was the thoughts of the Archmage Charlotte Eleanor, a young woman appearing in her forties despite being 101 years old. Famous for vanquishing the Calamity at the tender age of sixteen as a genius young mage who quickly rose to power that she had to be 20 years old to be officially awarded the title Archmage as per the rules of Marveil!
Dan was in fact, a gentle child who didn't wish to harm anyone, he just can't control his powers and suffers from Power Incontinence...his magic bursts when he can't hold it in anymore.
Before she could take Dan with her, a tunnel of fire appeared out of nowhere and out fell a child same age as Dan, and she was shivering.
The child has a Flame Seal on her which was why she was shivering. However, it was no ordinary seal.
The flames it seals are linked to her own life, which was why she was shivering. Her body is of normal temperature but her soul was affected by it, and will cause her trouble, so she removed it easily. It was shoddy work anyway.
The girl stammered out words she could not understand, but by the sounds, she assumed 'thank you for giving me my warmth back' or something along those lines.
But kid was a foreigner of unknown origin. Can't even speak their language.
So with her brand of magical exposure training to 'pound language in her head' and took both to Marveil, she introduced the kids to Carsillion and Yurian Olivia, her first and second disciple.
'Oh, master, you took in two when you said you'd take one?' Carsillion, the current King of Marveil Country asked his mentor. He is currently 49 years old. While he can use his massive mana from training to preserve his youth, he wears a disguise that he is aging however, because he must be succeeded as King of Marveil in the near future so there can't be an immortal king. When he retires, his son or grandson will succeed him and he can freely fool around after. Something she and Yurian bonked him on the head for.
'Well, the fourth one is a little weird...when she masters our language, she can explain her side of the story. She appeared above us in Dan's former home in a flame tunnel, somebody sealed her very soul and poor kid was spiritually shivering.' Charlotte explained. 'For now, she's reliant on me until she masters our language.' she said, patting the girl's head. 'What's your name?'
'Tamaki.' said the little girl called Tamaki. 'Er how do you say names here teacher? Where I'm from, we say our family names first and given names last.'
'Well, ours in in reverse, so you'll have to do it too.'
'Oh...Tamaki Sawada then.'
'Then Tamaki, you're Dan's classmate so I hope you get along.' Charlotte patted Dan's head while her other hand was still on Tamaki's. 'And these two older kids here are your seniors. They were my students before you. Carsillion is my first disciple, now currently King of Marveil, alongside Yurian, my second disciple who is currently the Guardian of Phanteum. They're done long ago, I just asked them to meet their new juniors today on a day off from their jobs.'
'Oh...'
'Now then, will you tell us about yourself, young lady? Your coming here through a fire tunnel is a little weird.'
'Daddy was often away on jobs overseas.' said Tamaki. 'Its mostly me and mommy at home until its time for school for when I'm seven years old...I'm five right now. He says he's an Oil Miner.'
'Oil Miner?' the mages cannot comprehend her words as last they checked, the only things that can be mined are precious stones and metals. But...Oil?
'Yeah. Daddy says that they're black oil located underground or under the ocean. They're drilled by machines and vacuumed up so people can use them as fuel. They easily catch on fire so people use them in every day life.' Tamaki explained. 'However, Oil Spills through accidents in drillings or machine breaks in the ocean are very bad as they choke ocean life to death. Birds who feed on fish get poisoned by fish that died from oil or drown in the sea, unable to fly as oil made their feathers sticky.'
'Daddy's a manager at his work...but one day, he came home with his boss...he told me to call him Nono which means 'grandpa' in his language.' Tamaki continued. 'He stayed in our house for three days...but not long ago, I was playing in the backyard with my ball, I threw it way too high and it got stuck in a tree. I got it back, but I slipped and fell and next thing I know, I'm on fire and slowly got back down. Then after lunch, daddy took me to my room with Nono...then he poked me on the head with a finger on fire and it got really cold that it hurts a lot...and then that fire tunnel appeared and I'm in a foreign country?'
'Is that right...' Carsillion put his hand on Tamaki's head to view her memories.
Indeed, she's at home her whole life, unless there's family trips in places that amazed him. She seems to have a happy childhood with her parents. They were intrigued by her culture, and the stuff she had at home as her mother teaches her what they are, what are they for and how to use them, and recently started her letters which was nothing like theirs. She also enjoys watching from that 'Terebi', watching shows there. He was intrigued with what little standard of living from a child's perspective he learned.
And he saw what led her here.
It was proof that she's NOT from their world as the world here, speaks the same tongue no matter where you came from.
'...its real. She is not from our world at all.' he said grimly. 'Girl, do you want to go back home?' Tamaki thought about it before looking pained.
'...I dunno...Nono made me feel really cold and daddy let him hurt me. He's a liar...daddy said Nono's nice but he let Nono hurt me. I'll miss mommy though.'
This, was her Hyper Intuition talking that she is not safe in Earth any more. She feels the need to avoid danger to herself.
When Charlotte unsealed her, she also awakened Tamaki's full power and potential just for the sake of overriding the shoddy seal on her. This means that through a powerful spell just to be triple-sure, Tamaki's potential has gone through the roof, three times that of what she was naturally born with.
'She made her decision to stay with us.' said Yurian softly. So her boss hurts children and her father let him, for the sake of keeping his job probably? The older woman was disgusted.
'Mm.'
With that, Charlotte Eleanor raised Dan and Tamaki together in her residence in Theia City, learning together and made magic fun for the pair who grew up like siblings. But due to what they were, fire came TOO naturally for them both. But that's where similarity ends.
Dan can use Fire Sorcery, while Tamaki's 'fire'...was more on the spiritual side. Dan's mana was dark red, while Tamaki's was light orange. Befitting of their alignment.
After trial and error, Tamaki has three main abilities as her natural talents. Hyper Intuition made her a natural danger radar, and easily detects malicious intentions thus easily determines who is friend and foe, which came in handy for Carsillion in Politics when he found out. She could also easily sense and read the flow of mana, enabling her to learn magic quicker that she was a quick study, much to Dan's unhappy jealousy, finding it 'unfair'. This made him push himself further through hard work and effort to catch up.
Her second ability is Harmonization. She can mix and equalize energies to perfect ratios just by sheer instinct to, making her an ideal support partner for large-scale battles that she can work with anybody, regardless of their magical fields or energy-types, as seen with Carsillion and Yurian, a pure human and elf respectively, and Dan a demon-hybrid. She also wound up balancing Dan's chaotic energies and it helped him out BIG TIME that he no longer suffered incontinence. She can also restore broken psyches she could make mentally-challenged people completely sane!
When that came out, a lot of families took their going-senile elderly to troubled relatives with inborn mental problems or damaged minds caused by drug use to Charlotte for Tamaki to heal and it kept the girl busy.
And Harmony can do freaking anything. From equalizing magic, to 'read' information out of objects and even magical energy, to effortlessly figuring out alchemy formulas without an incident, to something even as mundane as cooking that she revolutionized Castle Food when she was twelve when she wanted to learn how to cook, as in her culture, girls start learning cooking at TEN years old, she just postponed it due to her magical studies, wanting to master her skills before skipping a year to learn how to cook.
Carsillion jokingly asked if she could be his Head Chef.
And out of vanity, set herself to grow up beautiful by harmonizing her own body, bringing out the best in her blood when she was ten so come adulthood before she activates Magus Immortality on herself, she'll be a beautiful lady even if she's 'just average' now.
Her last natural talent, is the ability to petrify anything with her flames if she wants someone dead. And there's no way of reversing it so Charlotte forbade Tamaki's usage of it. When they studied a petrified rat, it was in fact, extremely-hardened ash! You're basically burnt to an ash statue!
Due to what she was, she had a knack for spiritual sorcery and alchemy. But Charlotte was an all-rounder teacher she wasn't like most teachers who tend to 'overspecialize'.
However!
Out of trauma as a child, Sealing was a field Tamaki wouldn't touch even if it killed her.
'It was horrible I wouldn't wish it on anyone.' she said. 'I don't wanna learn it.' and Charlotte said, 'How about sealing away non-human things like chaotic ticking time mana bombs out of evil sorcery and such?'
'...I guess I can live with that...'
When the kids were fourteen, they had fully mastered everything, with their last year with her being on missions with their teacher around the world. It was when they met Eldo Cindy, the girl who would be her fifth disciple.
She had a knack for 'troubled kids' as students, as Tamaki noted, when she touched the palace floor with her bare feet during a party.
She already knows Dan's story, but she didn't know Carsillion's or Yurian's.
Yup, troubled kids indeed.
At fifteen, she and Dan graduated from all those missions as 3rd and 4th Circled Mages that she now focuses on Eldo Cindy, and put them to task on roaming the world and 'right what's wrong' as she raised them up to be. Thanks to Tamaki's Intuition, she and Dan reached absurd heights for students Charlotte could use on future students when normally, students who studied in Mage School or in Apprenticeships are 1st Circle Mages at best or barely a 1st Circle on average. Carsillion and Yurian were just as shocked, being 5th Circle Mages themselves yet their little juniors are fast catching up!
'Ah, we're told to leave home.' Tamaki pouted at the gardens in Charlotte's mansion where they lived for years. 'What do you think, Dan?'
They frankly don't want to.
Charlotte was both their mother and master. She was their whole world and life was both fun and crazy, but happy.
'For now, we do as she asks while keeping an eye on her.' he said. 'We can come home any time we want.' he decided.
'Mm. I guess we be Heroes as she wants us to be! That would be so cool!' and the two shimmered away, taking two different paths entirely, only coming home to visit Charlotte on her birthday or on weekends!
"Why are my students all clingy bastards?" that got the old mage wondering. She wasn't used to such intense adoration and affection towards her at all...
However, Eldo Cindy has fewer years with their master as unlike them, she already had some education before ending up with her, thus can solely focus on magic lessons. She was with their master for five years opposed to their nine.
By this time, Dan and Tamaki are nineteen, almost adults, 6th Circle Mages growing to their full powers and good looks, because Tamaki also 'fixed' his blood with her harmony. While everyone around her has western beauty, she was the exotic kind as they never had Asian Beauty before! Well, she was a mix-blood as her father was half-italian, making her a quarter.
Carsillion and Yurian, thanks to Tamaki's discovery, rose to 8th Circle Mages, just like that of their master, earning incredible fame and respect. Charlotte? She was legendary beyond belief. At her youth she already exceeded the currently strongest 8th Circle and she just got stronger she can destroy a city by herself if she could without breaking a sweat, but thankfully she's on the good side. The system had to be re-classified because of her.
Many sought to be her pupil, but Charlotte turned many down because she character-screened them all through Tamaki and failed. Besides, she only takes in 'those that needed saving'.
She sported cinnamon-brown hair, and dark brown eyes framed with thick lashes, and rosy lips that stood out in her fair asian skin. Likeher mother, she has a petite body frame, but unlike her mother, she has a really small waist, flared hips, and slender arms and legs, small ankles and feet which she ensured with her magic. Her breasts were also fuller and firmer while her mother's was 'barely-there'. She tended to dress in cute dresses as a child and as a teenager, dresses in classic-loli style of clothes. Come seventeen-onwards, she dresses in modern earth fashion she remembers in her childhood watching anime and reading her mother's magazines while still maintaining cultural standards of the world, easily whipping up clothes with magic, fabric, buttons and fastenings, dye and thread.
And she was on the short side, unfortunately. She was a head shorter than her teacher but she hoped to be taller soon even if she was past puberty...even if she got the beauty part down pat.
But one day, she saw a familiar sight while on a quest to do what's right in Marveil.
A familiar flame tunnel appeared before her.
She sensed that what's on the other side wants her for selfish reasons...that she clean up THEIR mess that THEY caused, so she decided, 'I'll only clean up either my own mess or messes Master wants me to deal with, but no other shit.'
She sealed the tunnel, and erased all traces of connection to her whatsoever.

On the other side?
'Gah!' Aria and Kawahira were blown backwards, when the tunnel was forcibly sealed by the other side and knocked them back and hit the wall hard. Three years old Yuni can only watch.
'Master, missy, you OK?!' Wonomichi fretted at the last of the earthlings.
'...it seems she doesn't want to come back.' said Yuni softly. 'The true heir of the Vongola Sky Ring refuses to go home here.'
'That is a little problematic.' said Kawahira stiffly. 'Only the blood of Vongola can maintain the power of the Vongola Rings...every ten generations, a true heir is born. For that fool Timoteo Vongola to cause this mess, I won't let him and Sawada Iemitsu off so easily!'
Sawada Tamaki who was lost, was the second generation true heir after Giotto who founded Vongola. And she was more powerful than Giotto. That on the other side, she reached the level that she could effortlessly close the tunnel to the other world on a whim, and shut them out forever!
'Then what of the future? It was she and her Guardians who are supposed to save the future.' said Aria in dismay.
'I will deal with it myself.' said Kawahira. 'No choice now. Not after I make two fools pay for this.' and he was gone after storming off.
'Its up to him now. He normally doesn't interfere with humanity.' Yuni told her mother as Aria picked her up.
'He'll find the Sky Mare Ring and seal it to destroy that future by keeping the Byakuran here sane. Or without Tamaki...the future we saw is as good as gone. Nobody will live a decade from now.' Aria was utterly dismayed by the idea. 'It seems the current Vongola has thinned so much they caused us such great trouble...! I wish Tamaki heard us out first before shutting us out.' she complained. 'Our world is at stake.'

'Hey, I saw that~' Eldo showed up behind Tamaki. It seems she has a childish side that she activated her Magus Immortality younger than she and Dan did, appearing like a teenager. Well, Fairies prefer to look young and cute after all and Eldo just graduated. 'What's that?'
'Where I'm originally from, a Flame Tunnel opened and I ended up in this world.' said Tamaki. 'And I don't wanna go home. My home is here now.'
'I see...that's your only last chance.' Eldo pointed out.
'What awaits me on the other side are people wanting to use me for their selfish ends while I will be unhappy on the other side and nothing will make all that worth the misery. I have everything I could want in this world yet on the other side, nothing is worth the loneliness and grief I'll feel. I am nobody's tool nor patsy!' Tamaki growled before disappearing. 'Only master and Dan are allowed to ask things of me!'
She will never allow anyone to steal her world from her. Her world is her home. Her master, and her brother Dan, it was all that matters to Tamaki.
It was later that she heard that their teacher took in another student, Ivan Cervill.
Eldo had complained that he was 'a feral beast' that their master took in, and sees strong as right, weak as wrong.
'Well, he must have been a homeless kid with talent.' she told the older girl, because Fairies live long, just as long as Elves do. 'Homeless kids will do anything to survive than go hungry, thirsty and cold. Its a dog-eat-dog world that he's gone feral, until Master happened. Just let her tame him into civilization.'
'Riiiight.' Eldo scowled with an armfold. 'I still don't like him!'
'You don't have to, but he's our junior now...who knows, after Master tamed him he'll be cute little brother material?' Tamaki squealed out.
'Highly unlikely!' Eldo shouted.
But Tamaki knows full well that their teacher doesn't have long in this world and she called her teacher out on it when she visited.
'...so you sensed my waning life, Tamaki?' Charlotte drank her tea across her unhappy student. Hyper Intuition is handy to have as support, but annoying when it's turned against you, she thought. Tamaki excelled in spiritual-type sorceries she's handy as a Healer and an Exorcist...and an evil detector too. She had helped Carsillion as a child when she got manners and etiquette down pat enough to go to the castle with her to give Carsillion a hand on politics, to help his son Gerhard out to build his power base as Carsillion will retire in fifteen years after cleaning up the remaining mess he had in his term. He will not let his son clean his mess.
'You could have spent your remaining years retiring or something, have fun with the rest of your life but you just keep working!' Tamaki moaned, distraught. 'What pushes you to work so much? You've already done a lot!'
'Tamaki, with great power, comes great responsibility.' Charlotte told her fourth student kindly. 'We must use this power to protect, to nurture and to save. That is what I taught all of you, including Ivan, your youngest junior.'
'Yeah, you keep having us troubled children for students.' Tamaki laughed hollowly. 'A mistreated concubine-born prince. A duped bride who nearly became potion ingredients. An abandoned child. I was betrayed by my father and his boss who harmed me. Eldo's situation is crazy. Now what brand of crazy attracted you to Ivan to take him in like you did us?' Charlotte chuckled and could agree with her fourth, that she indeed had a knack for taking in troubled kids. But all the better, right? Because...who else would, and their talents undiscovered forever?
'Fufu, not telling...but you said it yourself...I took you in troubled children, because you needed saving, and the right to have a future as I know that all of you, can succeed me in doing what's right for the world and everyone, as I can't be around forever.' said Charlotte solemnly. 'It helps that Carsillion is a King, so all of you can at least, act in Marveil without political bullshit in your way.' she chuckled before looking serious. 'And just like how I did for six of you, I want you to give the warm light of hope and nurture to others as well. You'll become wonderful archmages one day, and have disciples of your own.'
'How long do I have?' was the whammy question Charlotte asked of her and Tamaki squirmed.
'...five more years...' Tamaki shook in grief. 'Why, when you can be immortal like us? You're so powerful, activating Magus Immortality should be easy!'
Charlotte shook her head.
'Immortality's no fun at all.' Charlotte told Tamaki. 'I only kept myself alive for so long because I had so much to do. Then when I felt I did everything I could, my spirit was satisfied and then the thought came that 'I should sleep soon'.'
'Master!' Tamaki was horrified at what her master implied.
'Tamaki, don't tell anyone, OK? As my only request of you.' Charlotte reached out to her. 'I'm a tired old lady, I should rest soon. You'll understand how I feel one day, when you've done all you could too. Maa, you're still young. You're a loooong way to go.' she told her sulking successor. 'Try not to think about it too much...and follow your heart, just as how I followed mine.'
'But shishou...'
'Shishou?'
'My country's word for Master.' around this time, Ivan, the sixth disciple left his room after finishing his homework, curious about his master's visitor went to snoop around by this time to hear what's next.
'Ah...'
'You haven't even gotten a BOYFRIEND!' Ivan's ears twitched as that, he heard. 'You work and work and work! But have you even experienced going out to have fun? Did some gentlemen even try to court you as a lover in hopes of future marriage?' now Ivan looked pissed at the idea. 'Sure you got six foster kids-turned-students but still...'
'Oi, I'm too old for that now! I'm 116 years old!' Charlotte squawked out, but this triggered something in her in the future.
'You kept your face young with magic and in a world like this, age means shit for us magicians!'
'It's still disturbing especially if you know your true age compared to that of your suitors, just thinking about it makes me shudder...'
'Jeeeeez!'
Tamaki thus paid a visit to one Archduke Jeffrey Thane Lewister with Filing for Citizenship Paperwork.
'...I wasn't expecting this...' he said, blinking owlishly. 'A Marveillan filing for citizenship here in Claus? Has Carsillion approved of this?' he asked the VERY YOUNG WOMAN before him. Tamaki is currently twenty years old. Very young! But she dresses in a way that denies her age. She dresses in a white sweater dress with a peter pan collar and dolman sleeves ending in a miniskirt. Her dress has six fluffballs in place of buttons on her torso and a beret hat on her head. For bottoms its form-fitting leather tights and white boots.
'Well, Master's orders of us are to do what she does when we leave her roof.' Tamaki pouted. 'I've done what I could in Marveil so I think I'm setting up shop here in Claus.'
'Lottie huh? She's super-busy as ever.' Jeffrey sighed wistfully. 'Makes me wonder when she'll stop teaching.'
'I nagged her to retire and enjoy life and get a damn boyfriend.' her words made Jeffrey spit-spray, taken aback by her words. 'Have you met our sixth? I haven't met him yet but Eldo complained a lot.'
'Ivan, huh? That incorrigible brat.' Jeffrey twitched at the memory of the sixth. 'For some reason, the instant I laid my eyes on him, I just don't like him.' he grunted. Tamaki sweatdropped.
'Even you?'
'Hmph!' Jeffrey scoffed, filing her paperwork that requested anonymity of her true identity. 'So what will you do in Claus?'
'Well I'll build a house first things first, a house worthy of an alchemist like myself. Dan's busy building an Underground Empire he calls Black Moon to work on illegal puke-worthy stuff the surface world can't handle. Nobody among us went to clean underground so he decided he would.' Tamaki looked worried. 'That gentle sibling of mine, do stuff like that? Where'd he even get that idea as of three years ago?'
'Beats me, but that's food for thought...many unsavory things happen underground.' Jeffrey looked dark. 'I'll keep tabs on him if only for your teacher Lottie.' he told Tamaki reassuringly. 'Just be sure to file the paperwork when you buy a property and all!'
'K~!' and Tamaki shimmered out of his office.
However, only Tamaki knew what was to come, which was why she's preparing for it.
She built a normal house for a well-off family with an annual income of 7000 gold or so it looks on the surface that she built by a countryside town near the city by six miles...but underground is a magically-reinforced, well-ventilated and well-lit spacious workshop worthy of a top-class mage like herself four meters underground accessible by magical elevator platform, and the workshop has a high ceiling. The 'living quarters' naturally, comprised of a large garden that has fruit trees and flower shrubs, and the house a cozy, spacious living room that doubles as a parlor room to welcome guests in, a classy bathroom and toilet, and a fully-equipped kitchen and well-stocked pantry.
Upstairs are three bedrooms. One for herself, Dan and Charlotte as her intuition nagged her to. She called Dan to decorate his room however he liked as she had no idea of his tastes, so he'll enjoy his stay if he ever visits.
Tamaki Sawada is a known face in Marveil. But while Claus knows all names of Charlotte Eleanor's students, they don't know their faces.
She changed her name to Josephine March, after that anime she used to watch as a kid. Her mother thankfully doesn't filter her anime selection...and dresses in simple, but elegant dresses befitting a woman 'who claims to have an annual income of 7000 gold' when Tamaki is filthy rich she can live an immortal life of a few millennia in comfort if she chose to.
When she settled down, she began taking missions from Jeffrey instead and made a living that way.
But when five years passed...
Tamaki began staking out a Mausoleum in Calveron.
"She seriously went as far as building a Mausoleum in an out of the way place like this. Seriously?!" Tamaki twitched as she hid and concealed her presence.
Soon, she felt Charlotte's mana. She arrived.
"Here it is..." Tamaki thought as she waited it out.
In her master's teachings, a proper death is to return your mana to the world and have your soul nourish the earth. Its a clean death worthy of a person who did good.
She released her massive mana to the world indeed, as she sent out her last will magically that Tamaki got the letter in front of her.
But she knew that her master screwed this one up...and used her massive mana as a curtain to conceal her presence from the other students, and made off with her sleepy, shrunken master who, instead of dying as she wanted, shrunk to a kid!
"I better get outta here!" and with a child in her arms, she shimmered out while her master's curtain is still useful!
