A/N: So this idea came to me after watching Spider-man Homecoming. I hope you all enjoy it!
Avengers Tower
"You're an idiot."
"Excuse me?" Tony asked, taking another sip of his drink.
"I said, you're an idiot." Natasha Romanoff replied, taking a sip of her own drink.
The two of them sat on opposite couches facing each other. Happy Hogan sat next to Tony, trying to make himself seem as inconspicuous as possible, thoughts of the pain he'd endured the last time he'd made a comment to Natasha. He hadn't known that she was Natasha then, but it didn't matter. The woman he'd then only known as Natalie Rushman had put him on his ass without even trying. He had hurt for days after that, and he had no desire to endure that again.
"The Sokovia Accords-"
"I'm not talking about the Accords." Natasha replied, although she silently thought she needed to call her ex and get a lawyer's perspective. The Accords as they were, were a mess. She just hated how long it had taken her to acknowledge it. That wasn't to say that accountability shouldn't exist, but there was a difference between being held accountable and being at the mercy of politicians more concerned about approval ratings than people's lives.
"I'm talking about the fact that you brought an untrained sixteen year-old into Berlin."
"The kid was fine and-"
"And he wouldn't have been if he was fighting anyone except us. If that had been an actual mission he would have been dead. But you were so convinced that Steve was wrong, so determined to prove that the great Tony Stark didn't make a mistake that you brought Spider-man in without telling anyone. And let me guess, you fed him some story about Steve going rogue and being out of control without giving him all the facts. Then you go and give him a suit with all kinds of tricks and toys, but you didn't teach him how to use it. And now you think it's a good idea for Happy to be his go-between? You're an idiot."
"Are you done? Cause I didn't ask for your analysis of my choices. I asked you here to tell Happy how to manage the kid. Period." Tony replied coldly.
"Yeah, I'm done. I'm borrowing a quinjet."
"Where are you going?" He asked, and she snorted.
"To do what you should have done. Help this kid. Don't try and get in my way." She said, standing up and walking out the door. She got on the quinjet, forcing herself to take a breath. She couldn't meet Peter Parker when she was angry at Tony. That was no way to begin building a rapport. But the simple fact was that she was pissed. Tony had brought a young man with no training and experience into the middle of their own private Civil War, treated him as little more than a weapon and given him a fancy suit as though it was some kind of new toy that didn't come with instructions. She wasn't going to let the kid run around with no idea of what was going on or what he was doing. It just wasn't right.
Queen's-8 P.M.
"Shouldn't you be doing homework or something?"
Peter Parker, also known as Spider-man, froze when he heard the woman's voice.
"Excuse me? Who are- Oh. Black Widow uh, I'm uh Man-uh Spider-Man. Can I help you with something?" He asked, staring at the woman who stood across the rooftop from him. He hadn't even seen her, and his spider-sense, as he'd begun to call it, hadn't alerted him to anything. Although, it only seemed to work when he was in some sort of danger, and she apparently wasn't any danger to him. He bit his tongue to keep from laughing at his own foolishness.
She could kill him before he could stop her if she so chose. Which means he should probably stop thinking so much and see what she was saying.
"You tell me what you're doing here?"
Thankfully he'd stopped thinking in time to catch her question. Otherwise she would probably think he was either rude or an idiot, and that would not be a great first impression. Or would that be a second impression because there was the airport fight and-FOCUS PETER!
"Uh bank heist. The alarm went off about two minutes ago." He said, pointing to the bank across the street. The alarm was audible from where he was and he'd been about to go stop it when the Black Widow had made her presence known.
"I'm just going to go stop em. Uh would you care to tag along?" He asked, and she smirked.
"I'll be right behind you."
Peter nodded, turning and jumping off the roof. He shot a web at the side of the bank, using his momentum to send himself up into the air. There was a skylight on the roof. Hopefully he could drop in on the crooks. As the only other entrance was the front door, he figured that was his best bet. Especially with the Black Widow watching his every move.
He landed on the roof, stumbling just a little. He still needed to work on his landings.
"Black Widow? Uh-"
"Right behind you Spider-man." She whispered from behind him and he jumped.
"We have got to work on your situational awareness. Now what's the plan?"
"Uh, go down there and stop the bad guys." He replied.
"Okay then. Go stop them. I'll be right behind you." She said, and he nodded, opening the skylight and dropping inside.
He landed on both feet right behind four men who were in the process of breaking into the vault.
"Guys, the bank closed at five. If you want to make a withdrawal come back tomorrow!"
"Spider-man!" One of the thugs yelled, pulling his gun and opening fire on the hero.
"The one and only! Now seriously guys, it's late and people are trying to sleep. How about we put away the guns?" He said, shooting a web at the man who had spoken and yanking his gun from him. Then he moved to his left, dodging another burst of fire from one of the other men and leaping toward them. He punched one of them in the face, knocking him to the floor. Then he kicked the first man who had spoken in the gut and watched him fall to the floor. His spider-sense tingled and he whirled...seeing the third man fall to the floor, Natasha standing behind him.
"Told you I'd be right behind you. Now how do you feel about pie?"
A/N: So, this was inspired while watching Spider-man Homecoming. At first I just wanted to have Natasha show up when Flash makes his comment about having a date with Black Widow, but then as I watched the movie, I wanted to do a little bit more. Also, fair warning that this will not be Tony-friendly at first. Now I love the character of Tony Stark, but when it comes to Peter he is a bit of an idiot. He brings a kid into a fight he had no business being in and then gives him a suit without bothering to explain what it's capable of. That is just plain stupid if not a little neglectful on Tony's part. This was also inspired by the amazing Story An Avenging Spider by Sierra-021, which is my favorite Spider-man fanfiction that I have ever read! Go check that out if you haven't already! I hope you enjoyed this first chapter and will stick around for the rest of the story!
