Howdy there. This is Blackknight99 speaking. I have never actually made a fanfiction before. Mainly out of fear of getting lynched by whatever fandom I make the fanfic based on. I hope y'all at least tolerate it and offer proper criticism where it is needed. I got the idea for this during a long weekend of Undertale, My Hero Academia, and some Danganropa. Also, quick note before anyone asks why I mentioned that last one even though this is listed as being purely My Hero Academia. Well, I will save that surprise for later.
DISCLAIMER: THE FOLLOWING IS A NON-PROFIT FAN-BASED WORK OF FICTION. MY HERO ACADEMIA IS OWNED BY SHUEISHA, VIZ MEDIA, SHONEN JUMP, STUDIO BONES, FUNIMATION, AND KOHEI HORIKOSHI. UNDERTALE IS OWNED BY TOBY FOX AND HIS DEV CREW. PLEASE SUPPORT THE OFFICIAL RELEASES.
Blooming Anti-Hero Prologue: The Undertale (Posted/Written: 10/12/2020)
'Good grief is this kid ever just gonna let the timelines settle down?' thought the "hero" of our story. His name was Asriel Dreemurr, former prince of the monsters of the Underground. Now, he goes by the name Flowey, a talking flower. Sometimes, he gets to come back as Asriel. Most of the time he is stuck as Flowey. All thanks to his best friend getting both him and her killed through some hair-brained, but good-hearted scheme to free the monsters.
A long time ago, the humans sealed the monsters beneath Mt. Ebott after a long and bloody war. A human named Chara fell into the Underground kingdom of monsters and was adopted by the royal family. After accidentally getting the king sick from buttercups, Chara poisoned herself so that Asriel could use her SOUL to cross the barrier trapping the monsters underground and go bring back six more human SOULS so that he could free the monsters.
Unfortunately, things went horribly wrong when humans saw Asriel carrying Chara's body and jumped to the wrong conclusions. He gets attacked and fatally injured carrying her body back to the Underground. He dies right in front of parents and then King Asgore decides to kill every human that enters the Underground from then onward. A few years later, Dr. Alphys comes along and starts playing god with the power of DETERMINATION, leading to the rebirth of Asriel into Flowey.
Several years' worth of child murder, time distorting resets, and Flowey going insane from the inability to feel emotions later, a human named Frisk shows up and somehow steals Flowey's DETERMINATION-born ability to "RESET". Now the residents of the Underground have been unknowingly trapped in a loop between two different types of timelines. Pacifist timelines where everyone is freed, and humans and monsters live in harmony thanks to Frisk. And Genocide timelines where some or all the monsters are murdered by Frisk.
Now Flowey is one of four individuals aware of the timelines. There's him, Sans the skeleton, the human known as Frisk, and another monster who we will meet soon. Now that we are done with the exposition, let our story of heroes and villains truly begin.
Going back to our flower, Flowey just watched Frisk enter the throne room after killing Sans and everyone else in the Underground for the billionth time. 'Seriously, is it really that hard to just stick to one timeline?' Thought the flower. 'I mean, there's got to be a way to break this cycle. I don't even care if I'm stuck as Flowey or Asriel anymore. I just want to end this all.' He sees Asgore attempting to talk down Frisk, Chara, whoever they are. 'You know what? Screw it, I'm sick of this stupid loop.' Flowey stays hidden, waiting for Frisk to kill Asgore.
Frisk brings Asgore to 1HP and is about to finish him before they stop and look around as if expecting something. 'Not this time you idiot.' Flowey thinks as he sneaks up behind Frisk, blending in with the other yellow flowers. Frisk turns their attention back to Asgore and finishes him off. "Hu…. man…. why…...?" Asgore turns to dust with his SOUL lingering for a few seconds before Frisk slashes it. "And…. GOT YOU!" Flowey then stabs Frisk through the chest with a sharp vine before they can fully process what just happened.
"Oh my god, I did it! I killed them before they could RESET!" Flowey cheered as Frisk's corpse collapses in the field of flowers. Now he had Frisk's soul of DETERMINATION. "Wait, this also means…. oh fudge." Flowey slowly realized one huge problem. With Frisk dead and no way to come back and RESET, he was stuck in this Genocide run. "Okay think Flowey, how can we make this right?" Flowey muttered to himself. 'Maybe I can try to RESET?' Flowey thought as he tried to pull up the SAVE FILE screen, but it didn't work. 'Well that didn't work.'
'Maybe I can at least use this and the other SOULS to at least get my body back? No, that would be too selfish. I can at least destroy the barrier again for the survivors.' He thought. 'Wait, then they might get killed by the humans on the surface over the whole multiple dead children thing. Damn it! Why did this have to be so complicated?' Flowey was conflicted and confused. He didn't think his plan would work. Frisk was normally more aware of incoming attacks than this. So why did they die this easily?
"Perhaps they were tired of the loops as well young Asriel." Said a voice Flowey did not recognize. Suddenly, the room seemed to become a monochrome color scheme of grays, blacks, and whites. Time seemed to freeze, and the shadows coalesced into the center of the room forming a tall black silhouette before some of the black peeled back to reveal a cracked skull with white dots for pupils. "Oh great, how did you survive the kids attack Smiley Trashbag?" Flowey sneered at the skeleton.
"And what's with the new look? Going through an emo phase? Maybe if you would quit moping and tried harder to kill the kid when they leave the RUINS then your stupid brother would still be alive along with everyone that wasn't in the RUINS when the kid went on another murder spree." Flowey chastised the looming figure. "I would show some tact and decency little prince. We both lost our families again." garbled the skeleton.
"And furthermore, I'm not my son Sans. And before you ask, neither am I my other son, Papyrus." Said the skeleton. "Hold on a second, I've heard this language before in a couple of RESETS. You're that weird ghost thing Frisk found a couple of times in that random door in Waterfall. Who are you? And how am I understanding you?" Flowey questioned the stranger.
"My name is Dr. W.D. Gaster, and you can understand me because I'm allowing you to your highness." Replied Dr. Gaster. "How does that work? And why are you just now showing up after the Underground has been driven to extinction millions of times already?" questioned our fallen monarch.
"Normally I can only show an image of myself and my assistants in and around 'That' room if a timeline has a certain FUN value. But thanks to your actions, now I can begin the process of permanently fixing the timelines. Starting with getting Chara out of Frisks SOUL and moved on to the afterlife." Answered the cursed scientist. "And before you ask, the reason for my current condition is because of an incident that occurred when building the CORE that scattered me throughout time and space." He added.
"Wait, you can break the loop because I killed Frisk? Then how come you never jumped in whenever Frisk got killed during the other timelines?" Asked the flower. Flowey was visibly scowling and was getting angrier and angrier as Gaster explained his plan. "Like I said, I can only interact when the timeline has just the right FUN value. And the only reason I can interfere now is because the source of DETERMINATION here in the Underground has been disrupted by your killing of Frisk." Said Gaster, looking annoyed at having to repeat himself to the talking flower.
"Well if you really can fix things for everyone, why haven't you done it already you emo trash-bag?!" yelled Flowey at the scientist. "Now Asriel, there's no need for the name-calling. The reason why I have not initiated a permanent RESET is because the amount of power needed to exorcise Chara from Frisks SOUL requires the power of two extremely powerful monsters with direct ties to the timeline. And even then, one of us will have to be banished from the timeline as a result."
"So, you're telling me in order to fix things, one of us has to permanently die and never come back through a RESET ever again." Flowey thought out loud. "Not exactly since I technically still don't fully exist yet back in the timelines. You would be the one banished form the timelines. You would still exist up until your original death. However, you would never be resurrected as Flowey. Rather, I would be the one taking your place in the timeline and being brought back to act as Frisk's antagonist in this final pacifist timeline. And before you ask, I'll make sure it's a pacifist run. Explained Dr. Gaster.
Flowey looked pensive, thinking over this incredibly risky idea. Sure, everyone would get a permanent happy ending. But then he'd be erased and never get to see his loved ones ever again. 'No wait, he said I'd be removed from the timelines. What'll happen to me?' He thought. "Hey smiley! What's gonna happen to me if we go through this? I'd rather not get stuck in something worse than a flower if I somehow survive this?" asked the former prince.
"Hmmm, I suppose you would be reborn in another world. Who now's what you'd come back as, let alone if you'd have any or even all your memories. Such a situation is fascinating in theory. The only way we can find out is by going through with this." Answered the good doctor. Flowey was silent for a long time. Contemplating this risky plan. Eventually, Flowey came to a decision. "If you're so sure that this can make things right for all of those naïve idiots, then fine, we'll do it your way." Flowey told the skeleton. "But can I at least say goodbye to Chara? Before I never see them again" begged the flower.
"I suppose so. Afterall, this process would restore Chara's SOUL back to normal long enough for her to be normal and get in one last good-bye. You can use this chance to settle things so that neither of you have regrets. Fair warning though, you will have a short window of time before both of you move on." Warned Gaster. "Thanks doc, I'll make our time count." Thanked the prince. Flowey took in a deep 'breath'. Or at least, the closest thing a flower can do to breathing. "When you're ready my prince, we can begin the process." Flowey was trembling, both out of fear and excitement. He was about to reunite with his best friend. Even if it was only for a short time.
But then again, this was also the same person that may have been spurning Frisk into doing the Genocide runs. "I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Let's get this over with Doc." Resigned the young prince. The skeleton gave a bow before stating "As you wish, my dear prince Asriel."
*START PLAYING DARK DARKER YET DARKER BY SHARAX*
Gaster then seemed to draw on the remaining magic of the Underground. All of it manifesting as the red energy of DETERMINATION. Gaster then appeared to transform from his shadowy, melting blob-like appearance, to a more solid and stable skeleton with eyes glowing purple with PERSEVERENCE and intelligence.
"Finally, I missed having a solid form. Now then, let us begin." Said a fully restored Dr. W.D. Gaster. Gaster then manifested seven disembodied skeletal hands. Each glowing with a different color representing one of the many powerful human emotions. From the red of DETERMINATION to the blue of INTEGRITY to the yellow of JUSTICE. Each hand then began writing out an elaborate ritual circle made of symbols that Flowey couldn't even begin to comprehend.
The world seemed to fade out of existence, leaving only Flowey, Gaster, Frisk's SOUL, and the circles. Then, the circles seemed to open up and spew forth lines of the aforementioned symbols that would fly out and then fade into the shadows while lines of zeroes and ones seemed to get sucked into the circles. Some of which came from the SOUL and Flowey. "Gaster this better work or I'm gonna make the Genocide runs look like a picnic in comparison!" Screamed Flowey as he felt like his very existence was being torn apart. Which for all he knew, is what was happening to him period.
"Don't worry young Dreemurr, your chance to say good-bye starts….NOW!" exclaimed the former royal scientist as he emitted a black and purple aura and snapped his finger. Everything suddenly turned white for Flowey.
*STOP MUSIC*
He felt tingly, like the feeling a sleeping foot across his whole body. He reached out with his hands to steady himself as he stood. 'Wait, hands? Standing?' 'Flowey' looked down at his body and realized something amazing. "I'm me again! But for how long this time?" questioned the prince. No longer was he a yellow flower with a cartoonish face on it. He was back to his goat like form in a green and yellow sweater with khaki pants. He was Asriel Dreemurr once more.
As Asriel looked around, he noticed he was in a monochrome recreation of his and Chara's old bedroom. "Oh no, why did it have to be here?" questioned the monster prince. This room brought back nothing but bad memories for Asriel. From Chara slowly dying from buttercup poisoning, to Frisk coming in and taking Chara's locket and gardening knife to kill the remaining monsters in New Home, to Asriel's first night as Flowey and coming to terms with being resurrected as an emotionless flower with a depressed father and missing mother. "Because this is where it all began for us. Isn't that right Asie?" said a voice that Asriel remembered all to well. "Chara? Is that really you?"
"It's me Asriel. I don't know what or how you or that weird guy did it, but we're back to normal." Said Asriel's best friend, Chara. Chara looked eerily like Frisk with a few exceptions. Chara wore the same kind of sweater as him, her eyes were red and more open than Frisk's, and she appeared to be a more natural skin tone than Frisk's goldenrod or ash pale complexion, depending on the timeline.
"It really is you Chara! I am so sorry I messed up our plan! I couldn't bring myself to fight back against that mob! Even with all that power and I couldn't bring myself to hurt all of those people. I'm a terrible friend! Please forgive me Chara!" Cried Asriel. He couldn't stop crying at the sight of his best friend. Last time he saw her, she was suffering through one of the most painful ways to die in the Underground.
"Chill out Asie. It's okay, I'm not upset." Said Chara. "But I ruined the plan! We could've saved everyone earlier if I wasn't a coward." Replied Asriel. Chara then pulled him into a hug as he cried into her shoulder. "Relax Asriel, if anything I'm to blame for all of this mess." Chara started crying as well. "If I didn't go through with that stupid idea in the first place, then you never would have died, Mom and Dad would've stayed together, the time loops wouldn't have started in the first place, and all of those other kids never would've died!" "If anything, I should be the one saying sorry Asie!" Both kids were holding each other and in tears.
*sniff* "Well, I'll forgive you if you forgive me. How does that sound Chara?" asked the monster prince. *sniff* "Works for me Asie." Both children were finally happy, with none of the negativity of the Genocide runs or Flowey holding them back. "Are you both feeling much better now? Because it's time for you two to move on now." Said Dr. Gaster as he seemed to manifest out of the shadows of the room. Both children looked at Gaster, then at each other before nodding and looking back at Gaster. "We're ready Dr. Gaster. We may be banished from the timelines after this, but we'll still have each other." Answered Asriel as he held Chara's hand. Both children seemed to be slowly fading into light.
"Indeed, you will young ones. You can finally rest in peace from these chaotic timelines." Said the good doctor as both children seemed to finally move on to the afterlife together. A tear shed from Gaster's eye as the children moved on. "Rest now little ones. Neither of you need not suffer any longer. Now, then what to do with the other two?" lamented Gaster as he moved out of the room to another one resembling his old FUN-locked room in Waterfall. Inside of that room appeared to be two individuals.
One was a dark, inky black, malicious-looking silhouette of Chara wielding a bloody knife and the heart-shaped locket and black/red SOUL. The other appeared to be Flowey but with an evil sneer on his face. "Well good for you Trashbag! You fixed your precious timeline! Now it'll be even more fun when we tear it to BLOODY PIECES!" said Flowey to the doctor. "I assure you that you and that abomination are never gonna touch the timelines ever again." Replied the doctor to the flowery amalgamate.
"Oh? And what are you gonna do about it? Me and Chara here are living embodiments of DETERMINATION. Even if you dealt killing blows to the two of us, we'd just come right back thanks to the SAVE FILE or we'd just refuse to die. Hahahahahahahaha." Taunted the evil flower. "What makes you think that I haven't come up with a solution to removing you monsters?" replied the doctor. "WHAT?! How can you possibly kill us?! Wait a minute, WHY ARE WE JUST SITTING HERE? C'mon Chara! Let's kill him like the rest!"
*QUE MEGALO STRIKE BACK by Herpicuss*
Flowey lashed out at Gaster with large, thorny vines and friendliness pellets. Attempting to pin him down and hold him in place. At the same time, the Chara shade charged forward with a knife made of DETERMINATION. Though Gaster, like his son Sans, was not one to let himself get hit in a fight. He dodged their attacks quite easily and blocked any that almost made their mark using the green power of KINDNESS.
"Please cease such senseless violence" said the doctor as Chara's shade brought its knife down attempting to split him down the middle. "Your DETERMINATION has no power in this realm and only makes me wish to banish you two to a world where you may be punished for your sins." This only prompted Chara to lash out at him faster and harder while Flowey sent wave after of pellets at him. "And let you ERASE us form this world? I DON'T THINK SO! IN THIS WORLD, IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED! AND CHARA AND I ARE GOING TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN TEARING YOU TO PIECES OVER AND OVER AGAIN! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!"
Flowey and Chara were pulsating with DETERMINATION by this point. Veins and eyes glowing red with the stubborn energy as Gaster looked at them with a solemn gaze. 'Such a shame what happened to them. None of this would have happened if I'd just been more careful and never fell into the CORE in the first place. Oh well, I might as well begin the banishing ritual.' Thought Gaster as he sent his hands stealthily around the rampaging genocide duo.
Each hand began writing a series of complex runes on the ground around the two maniacs. Each cluster glowing with a different spectrum of SOUL magic. 'Now to just keep them distracted for the next minute so the plan can succeed.' Thought Dr. Gaster as a drop of 'sweat' dripped down the side of his skull from exerting himself. "Why must you do such horrid acts young ones? Surely, your parents would be horrified at these actions." Asked the skeleton.
"Do we have to spell it out for you?! This world let Chara and I die so easily, so we'll kill the entire world and RESET till this world knows true despair!" screamed the maniacal flower as he sent out more vines. 'Almost there, just have to keep them busy. Wait, where the shade?' Gaster looked around in a panic, trying to spot Chara's shade. 'No, no, no! They both need to stay in the circle for this to work!'
Suddenly, Gaster felt a sharp pain in his lower back. He looked down and saw the tip of a red bladed knife sticking out of his gut. "O-o-o-oh Chara, y-y-you always were the sneakier of the two of you." Said the scientist as he suffered from the stab wound. He turned around and low and behold, Chara's shade was standing there with its unnerving smile. 'Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to make this quick and squeeze back into the timeline for Frisk's final RESET. Lest I turn into dust or worse, back into that DT sludge.' Thought Gaster as he started to slowly melt.
Gaster didn't have much time. He grabbed Chara's shade and threw it upwards as hard as he could before summoning a gaster blaster that blasted the shade back into circle of runes. 'There we go, and just in time.' Gaster had managed to get Chara back into the ritual circle just in time. As soon as the last hand finished writing its runic series, the runic circle began glowing with a rainbow of colors.
The circle began glowing and spinning as Flowey and Chara's shade started writhing in pain as they slowly began dissolving but not into dust, but pixels. As they fell apart, Flowey screamed at Doctor Gaster. "YOU IDIOT! I DON'T KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING. BUT WHEN I GET BACK, I'LL TEAR YOU FROM THE TIMELINES AND DESTROY EVERY LAST TRACE OF YOU! YOU HERE ME?! I'LL BE BACK!" Though it took a little while, Flowey and Chara's shade were finally sucked into Gaster's vortex.
*STOP MUSIC*
'There, it is done. Now I must get back into the timeline before I fade.' Thought the dying skeleton. The deed had been done, both entities responsible for the Undergrounds RESETS and Genocide runs had been banished. Never to return to the Underground or its timelines to torment the monsters and Frisk. But this is not the story of our hero. No, our "hero" just got sucked into a dimensional wormhole with an evil shade of their best friend.
Here is our protagonist as they fall through a multi-colored rift in space-time. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" screamed Flowey as he fell through the rainbow abyss. "Chara! Try to RESET and get us out of here!" He ordered the shade. Chara's shade twitched and glitched as it tried to RESET, glowing with DETERMINATION, and was even pulsating with a similar black substance that Gaster was emanating, but nothing happened. "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" Shouted the flower as they continued to fall.
Then, a light appeared at the end of the chromatic space-time tunnel. "At least there's some good news!" exclaimed Flowey as they approached the light. As they entered the light, Flowey and the shade felt an awful, burning pain. "OH GOD! Chara! WHAT'S HAPPENING?" The shade didn't respond, only giving a mute scream. Then, the shade seemed to melt and fuse with Flowey and the results melted and molded into a small, black, viscous puddle of DT and HATE. This puddle suddenly seemed to form on a sidewalk next to a decent-sized school building. Suddenly, as soon as the puddle formed, what appeared to be a teenage boy with freckles and green hair fell on the puddle from the roof of said school.
END PROLOGUE
So, what did you guys think? Personally, I feel as though the Undertale side of Fanfiction could use some more additions. I've got so many ideas and not enough time to write them out. And not just Undertale ideas either, I've got ideas involving Super Paper Marion, One Piece, Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, and so much more. Adulting sucks. Oh well, see you guys in Chapter 1: Birth by Despair. BlackKnight99 out.
PREVIEW OF CHAPTER 1)
'So, this is what's become of us. Walking around as some human flesh sack, surrounded by idiots with bigger delusions of fame than Alphys's stupid robot.' Thought the newly reborn Flowey. 'At least it can't get any worse than this.' "DEKU!" yelled a certain blonde. '…I hate karma.'
