Part 22.3

Teddy Lupin-Black is punctual.

Teddy apparated to the door of the apartment Michelle had given him to pick her up. He rang the doorbell, and a woman who could only be Michelle's mother opened the door.

"Duke Lupin-Black" She greeted him, having also done her own research when Michelle had explained about Teddy's offer.

"Ma'am, it's just Teddy. All that Duke stuff is only for the stuck-up politicians or official paperwork. Am I correct to assume you are Michelle's mother?"

"That would be correct, come in."

He smiled politely and entered the apartment. He greeted Michelle, and they all sat around the kitchen table. "Elle, can I be frank with you?" he asked.

"Teddy, I'm a realist, how else would you speak?"

"Well, then, this little device, for lack of a better term," He took out a solid silvery-looking metal bracelet, engraved with some swirling symbols, "is reusable teleportation, and can be used by everyone. I have two of them for you and your mother, just in case. I'm not trying to scare you, but your power, you aren't exactly a standard mutant, neither am I. There are three types of mainstream types of people on this planet currently.

Normal humans, although by now, just about every single one of them has some sort of recessive supernatural gene, so there is a method they can be taught what most refer to as the supernatural, as magic. That is most likely the group your mother belongs to, as well as just about every single one of your classmates.

The second group are the one I am, the one my parents and grandparents are of, as well as all of my maternal grandmother's family and dad's family. They have been around since before normal written history, at least three millenia. Individually, they would be like you, capable of some magic, but mostly a few bigger things they have an aptitude as well as a multitude of parlour tricks. But together, as a hidens society, they advanced close to the level of Asgard, very close to fully combining science and magic. Simplified, in 1996, that ended. There was a civil war and there are now less than a dozen of us left. However, there have always been coincidences, around one in a billion, where people born of non-magicals, had the ability. You are one of them."

"And the third type?"

"The third type is quite simply, aliens. I don't know the specifics, never cared to find out and I don't think I'm allowed to anyways, aliens who decided to, for one eason or another, to live on Earth. Some had children, which gives you the majority of that group. The magical society is crippled, there are only four people who are fully trained in the art. I am nearly there, as well as one other."

"So why tell me this?"

"Because you need to know what you are getting into. This is a rebuilding of a millenia-old society, one which, at its peak in the 1950's, was easily the most powerful empire to ever be seen on this planet. But I won't lie to you, we also have a lot of enemies, even if they don't know it themselves. Those bracelets, with the spoken activation code Dumbledore, the name of one of the most powerful mages in history, can take you to a magically fortified and protected safehouse, we aren't the Avengers what with their minimal security, but I want to be sure you are alright with all of this, and becoming a part of it.``

"You speak about the danger, but you have yet to praise the benefits. What exactly do you need my daughter for?" Michelle's mother asked.

"To add to the ranks, to rebuild a society. I'm not the teacher, I'm also still learning the arts, but just about anything you have read about in fantasy books, one way or another. I'm not yeet good enough to take you along on teleportation, but I can take myself, another few months, and I can teleport you there."

"Where?"
"Blackwell Manor, the homebase. It's in England, but I have more devices, non-reusable, that can take us there. Just touch one." he dropped two pebbles on the table, levitating them out of his pocket. Teddy disappeared, teleporting to Blackwell. Michelle grabbed her mother, and followed, the pebbles left behind on the dinner table.

Landing in Blackwell, Teddy expected to see two pebbles clatter to the floor, ready to vanish the used portkeys. What he didn't expect was the softest pop of apparition he had ever heard, and for it to be accompanied by Michelle, her mother side-alonged. "That's not supposed to be possible!" he exclaimed, surprise evident on his face.

"I thought you brought me here in order to learn how to achieve the impossible? Breaking the laws of physics and all that?"

"No, apparition, what you just did, the type of teleportation that comes from within, is supposed to take years to learn how to do purposefully, safely, and not leave behind any body parts. You're doing it…. Taking along a passenger, especially a m- non magical one, speaks volumes about your potential, especially with absolutely no training to speak of."

"So I'm doing things that aren't supposed to be possible. Been there, done that. So, are we late or something?"

"No, right on time," a new person announced. Dressed in pale yellow robes that looked more like a dress, she had a warm smile.
