Part 22.6
A/N: Seer!Luna finally gets introduced. Please note, the information about May is from the MCU Fandom wiki, as I am still working on finishing the Agents of SHIELD TV show.
SHIELD Agents are not trained for accidental teleportation.
Teddy smiled back at the newcomer. Her silver hair was braided around her head, her bluish grey eyes piercing but kind. "Aunt Luna, this is the new muggleborn, Michelle Jones, and her mother. Hermione said she can teach Elle with Wanda and Pietro, all of them are beginning on about the same level."
"The three most powerful beginners since Rose and Darcy,"
"So where do I have to go, I don't want to be late for any classes." Michelle interrupted.
"Right through that hallway, the room on the left right after the green lounge." Luna directed her. "Madam Jones, you can-" Luna started, before her eyes fogged over for a second, and then her ethereal voice tuned just a bit harder, a bit colder. "Teddy, pop out for Neville and Rolf, and then go send Selene to the safe room. Michelle, Wanda, and Pietro will be safe with Hermione."
"What is happening?" Madam Jones asked.
"Can you wield a gun?"
"I have a license for a hidden carry pistol, I have it on me."
"Get it out. We're about to have SHIELD guests." Luna commanded, reminding Teddy that though she was mostly a full-time mother, like the other magical adults who had survived the final battle, she still had her honed war reflexes. "They're investigating your apartment, they're about to touch the portkey pebbles you left behind. Two, highly trained. Don't attack until they do, we need information first.'' Teddy was reminded of a story he heard. While Rose was excellent on thinking on the spot, Luna had been the group's planner, and not only because she was a sewer, but also because she always seemed to know exactly what to do and calculate what should be done next for the optimal results, which was why some magical had considered her a seer who could see the possible futures. Seh couldn't but it was close.
Madam Jones whipped out her pistol, which she had started carrying on herself at all times, and kept under her pillow, ever since the battle of New York, thankful she had the license beforehand. IN the center of the room, and two obviously SHIELD agents, in black stealth combat gear. They were disoriented for less than a second, before their own pistols came out.
Luna stepped forward, his yellow robe twisting back to become a deeper yellow robe more suited to combat, if necessary. "Agent Grant Ward, Agent Melinda May. Greetings," her ethereal, light, lilting tone had returned, all traces of the cool-headed battle planner and commander gone.
The two exchanged glances. 'Where have you kidnapped us to?" Agent Ward asked.
"Kidnapped? I think there has been a misunderstanding." Luna told him. "The method you used to arrive here was touch-activated teleportation devices, which were in a private home, waiting to be used. Might I ask how you got them?"
"A SHIELD Director's warrant to search the apartment of a lead on an investigation. I repeat, where are we?"
"The location is classified, I am afraid. Especially to SHIELD. If you tell me more about the investigation, I may be able to help."
"And if we don't?" May asked suspiciously.
"I'm curious whether or not it would take five or ten second to take down some of SHIELD's finest. Do you want to find out?"
"So we tell you or else is the play. You're threatening."
"Did I need to be clearer? You're outnumbered, and overpowered. Yes, you can try to fight, or I can welcome you to the nearest sitting room and we can talk like civilized humans."
Ward and May exchanged glances, but raised their hands. "We'll come and talk with you, though we can't promise classified information."
"I don't expect you to. Teddy, please raise the second layer of warding, third on standby." He obeyed, and Agents Ward and May, Luna, backed by Nevile, and Madam Jones, pistol not yet lowered from being pointed at the agents who had broken into her home, walked into the green sitting room.
Neville stayed silent, hugging Luna but letting his wife do the talking. Rolf had popped away before he was noticed, staying with his younger sister.
"Well, you have us where you want us, it seems." May noted.
"No, I have you where you would be best suited so that you can't distract me when my sources give me everything there is to know about you. Some interesting people, you two are." Luna noted airily, knowing full well how much discomfort that brought the two agents.
Luna tilted her head a little, and then said, "SHIELD Agent Melinda Quionlan May. Born to William May and retired operative Lian May. At age seven, became an ice skater and admired the famous ice skater Dorothy Hamill, winning many awards in competitions. However, found the ice was too hard when falling, so at the age of 12, she became a martial artist, where the floors were padded. Eventually joined S.H.I.E.L.D., believing that the agency was the best defense of the United States of America and the world against any possible threat. Trained by the best S.H.I.E.L.D. had to offer, became an ace pilot and a weapons expert, a soldier who could perform above and beyond the call of duty. One of the few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had more black belts than Natasha Romanoff, also a friend and often partner. Oh, that's interesting. Agent Romanoff is such an interesting person. Hm… Next up, met Phil Coulson during a mission in which the two were paired up together. During the mission, the commander sent them to a coffee shop in Sausalito on a retrieval operation without an exit strategy. Wound up in the bay for five hours until Coulson eventually fished you out. After developing a romantic interest in Coulson, you asked to be assigned to aid Coulson during his mission to retrieve an 0-8-4 from Russia. After you successfully managed to steal it from the SVR, you returned to save Coulson and informed him that you were dating a psychiatrist. Still retained your feelings for Coulson, and smiled as Coulson suggested that they could get together if her current relationship did not work out. Ended up falling in love with the psychiatrist, Andrew Garner, and eventually married and eloped. As rookie agents, you and Coulson often talked of being able to pick your own operations and to call your own shots without the bureaucracy and red tape. In 2008, you, Phil Coulson and a team of agents were dispatched on an "Index Asset Evaluation and Intake" or "Welcome Wagon" mission, investigating Eva Belyakov, a newly discovered powered individual with superhuman strength. You tracked Belyakov to Manama, Bahrain, where things immediately spiraled out of control; Belyakov, aided by various Bahrainian gangsters that she seemed to be controlling, took a young civilian girl and every dispatched S.H.I.E.L.D. agent except for you and Coulson, hoarding them inside of a warehouse. As you were unable to call in any backup, you took it upon herself to solve the problem. Went in by yourself with only a knife, crossing off the controlled gangsters and Belyakov herself. However, you learned that the girl, revealed to be Belyakov's daughter Katya, was the one controlling people using a sensory manipulating ability. May witnessed the girl use her powers to kill the remaining gangsters, so she was forced to execute Katya to prevent her from doing the same to the captured S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. The incident scarred you mentally and earned the nickname "The Cavalry" within S.H.I.E.L.D., a designation you despise. You never spoke of what happened during the incident, but it changed you. The warm, rule-bending nature of your personality seemed to be gone, despite Coulson's efforts to draw it back out. Your marriage with Garner also slowly fell apart as a result of her distance, and you are nearly to the point where you are ready to resign from combat duty, thinking of making this your last mission. Did I miss anything, Agent May?" Luna asked, finishing the full evaluation of anything there was to kow of Agent May, both with information on her highly classified SHIELD file and off of it.
Grant Ward hid his feelings, but if this woman could know so much about May, none of which seemed to be false, and most of which seemed to be either highly classified or even unknown by SHIELD, he worried as to what she knew about him. Judging by that piercing look, way too much.
Ward was saved by May, who was reaching for her pistols. "Most of that was not in my SHIELD file, so not even Stark, who it is an open secret that he regularly hacks into our servers, can't possibly know. Director Fury does not have access to a majority of that information. Where. Did. You. Get. It?"
Luna's tilted head righted itself back up perfectly vertically. Her posture both stiffened and relaxed at the same time, ready to launch into action. "Agent May, my sources are highly classified."
"By. Whom." May demanded through gritted teeth.
"An organization whose entire existence is more highly classified than anything either of you, as a Level Six and Seven SHIELD Agent could know."
May galed at Luna and pressed a finger to her earpiece, cautiously. "Director Fury, did you catch all that?"
Neville, unnoticed, cast a supersensory hearing charm on himself, Luna, and Madam Jones. "I did, Agent May. And unless she is bullshitting me, I know exactly what she is hinting at. For the duration of this assignment, you and Agent Ward are upgraded to level Nine clearance"
"There's a level nine?" Ward muttered.
"Yes, and you are on it. If I find either of you abused that, you will be permanently court martialled faster than you can say shield. Hill will brief you."
Maria Hill's voice came on through the comms. "The only organization to fit her description would be ISA. Suspected to stand for International Security Agency, however, that is not certain. We know they are not limited by international borders and can operate anywhere on the planet. They were officially formed in 1998, permitted by an agreement signed in a private southern scotland manor called Blackwell. The Blackwell Agreement had every single nation in the world agree to allow them to operate, in exchange for protection against their own members. ISA's numbers are uncertain, but every single person with superhuman abilities not associated with SHIELD is either suspected or confirmed to be with ISA. Their technology has never been caught or analyzed, neither has there been a single successful infiltration, however there is a suspicion that they belong to a suspected extinct subspecies of humans that have lived in hiding on Planet Earth for millenia, with superhuman powers of minor telekinesis who called themselves wizardkind. No contact has been made with ISA for years except four months ago when they took over the public release of the events of the battle of New York, covering up Loki's actual involvement and successfully barring SHIELD from altering the final result."
"Damn." Ward muttered. ISA was hardcore, and eveything Hydra wanted to be.
Seeing the expression on the silver-haired woman's face, and the light smirk gracing her lips, Ward decided then and there that he was done with Hydra, if ISA would take his skills. He forccefully ingrained in his own mind that he had been coerced into joining Hydra, so that not even the best lie detector could get him. He did not know why the idea suddenly cemented itself in his brain so well, but he decided that it was a good one, so any suspicions about outside mental influence went in his mind and then right back out of it.
The smirk on Luna's lips didn't leave. She was usually very poor at light legilimency, but this agent's mind was all prepped up for it. Her minimally trained technique showed when the suspicions of outside mental influence appeared in the agent's mind, but she was relieved as they went right back out, but her suggestions stuck. A drop of veritaserum, and that could be tested for sure, but if the rest of the group agreed, he could be a good operative for them, from within SHIELD but also when they needed to send someone undercover. By Lilith's terms, expendable, although Luna's moral boundaries were not yet that wide. Recruiting insider agents of SHIELD, however, was just fine by Luna's moral compass.
Neville traced his thoughts along the same line of thinking. Then he whispered into Luna's ear, so quietly she could only pick it up due to the super sensory hearing charm, "good idea, no imperius necessary." He added. While the whole group, what with their war-altered morals, agreed to the usefulness of the unforgivables, and the fact that there was no more ministry left to ban them, they still tried to avoid them as much as possible. Nevertheless, while the group policed themselves, keeping track of each other's magical workings, they had agreed not to avoid any magic on principle, having had their asses saved by the single most powerful of the darkest spells, and they also knew none of them could ever forcefully police the others without their consent. Not wanting to fully destroy the last of wizardkind with a civil war, although it would never escalate past a skirmish with the side that had Lilith, Jade, and Loki (who would never split) winning, they all agreed to do things on a case by case basis, knowing each other well enough to not have to worry on those things like the ministry had to before it went up in flames. Literally.
Grant Ward it was.
A/N: I know in Agents of SHIELD he's a backstabbing traitor who everyone should hate (at the point of writing this I have only watched Season 2, although I do know the spoilers for future seasons) but again, this in fanon version to fit a necessary character niche and he fits quite well. More on ISA in future chapters, it will be a slow arc, so if you're like me and the curiosity is killing you, pm me and check out my profile for the standing offer for reading ahead.
