"It was November 30, 2025. A boy was born, the same day the Sirens attacked. Little did my parents know that he was going to be the Savior of Humanity." A man in an admiral uniform said to the crowd.
"He was a great Commander, an unsung legend. When he became Commander on September 7, 2048, he swore that "He will sacrifice his life to protect the two things he loved the most: Humanity and the Ship girls. And treat the Ship girls as humans, not military assets.". And he did keep his promise." He said to the crowd. "On March 12, 2049 He was experimented by the researchers in the Eagle Union and the Royal Navy, after having good results, he was discharged. And on August 20, 2049, his life changed that day." He continued. A lot of murmuring could be heard from the crowd all of them asking to each other what happened. "He was presented with a ship, parts stolen from the shipyard where the Yamato was made, most parts were modified, and some were retained as it is." He said.
"Who would have thought that on September 30, 2085, he ended the Siren threat, but at a great cost. Right now, I am telling you this…" Everything went silent. "You heard me, now go back there in the front-lines and end this once and for all." He said as he morphed into a creepypasta looking thing. And started running towards the certain man, then consumed him. Everything went dark after that.
Present Day
"What the fuck was that?!" A man said. He woke up suddenly after having a nightmare. 'CEO of Dreams, why the fuck did you pick that out of all the dreams I could get.' He thought.
'I should prepare, I don't want to have a terrible impression on the Ship girls.' He thought. He stood up then proceeded to the bathroom.
A few minutes later he went out the bathroom feeling refreshed. He then proceeded to change in his newly ironed uniform. He bent down to get something underneath his bed, a couple of grunts later, he pulled out a saber which his ancestors used during the American Revolution.
"Hello, little one. Been a long time since I use you. I think I used you during the war 3 years ago." He said. He proceeded to take the pin that was placed in his coffee table, he opened his cabinet and pulled out a revolver, he checked the chamber if it was loaded. He confirmed it wasn't loaded, he loaded it with one explosive round and loaded it with regular rounds, he then hid it inside his coat. He took his saber and sheathed it, after sheathing it, he pinned his pin in his shirt.
'Ironically, I don't drink coffee, but I have a coffee table, heh.' He thought. He took out a picture which has the pin design, he analyzed the picture closely. "Why do they have to make it look to expensive. They get it, my name is Nagato Takashi, the black-haired motherfucker with blue eyes. You don't need a fucking pin like that." He said as opened the door and walked out of his house with his luggage.

When he opened the door, the first thing he saw was two armed men dressed in an army uniform and another person in an Admiral uniform.
"Didn't expect you to be with armed men, nii-san. What did you do?" He joked as he saluted to the person to show respect.
"Well they wouldn't allow me to go alone, so they assigned two soldiers to accompany me." He said, he approached Nagato to help him with his luggage, but he did not show any signs that he will accept the help.
"Ehhhh, no no nii-chan. I don't need any help. Besides, I can handle this." Nagato said. He then proceeded to walk towards the trunk and placed his luggage in.
"Should we go?"
"Of course."
The duo went inside the car, followed by the soldiers who went in front. A couple minutes of tucking up, the driver immediately slammed on the gas pedal and begin driving.
"So, Will. How is Yui-chan? Does she miss me or anything?" Nagato asked.
"You and your siscon attitude, when will you stop being like that? And go ask dad if you want to talk to her." The man also known as Will said.
"Hey! Pampering her with love isn't counted as a siscon, you twat." Nagato said.
"Oh, it is now." Will said.
"Approaching Eagle Union headquarters in 30 mins." The soldier said.
"So, lets go down to business, shall we?" Will said.
"Two ship girls will be escorting you wherever you want to go. Now don't do anything perverted because they have a long history of perverted commanders." Will said.
"Can you send me their addresses." Nagato said whilst preparing his gun. The soldiers saw him and were sweating bullets. 'Holy mackerel, this commander is insane!' The soldier thought.
"Ahaha." Will's sweat dropped.
"And plus, I thought I'll be commanding the Central Headquarters, Azur Lane. Why am I assigned to the Eagle Union's Headquarters?" Nagato asked. He was confused on why he was assigned there, but he didn't mind since was still promoted which is a plus for him.
"You will know the answer for that one when you'll be assigned in the Central Headquarters. Now where was I, ah. Two Independence-Class Carriers will be approaching you, namely Princeton and Independence. And lastly, sign this." Will gave Nagato a document to be signed, Nagato didn't bother to read it fully and just signed it, he trusts his brother's intuition that he won't harm him. He handed the paper back to his brother
"Oke dokey. You will be the test subject for every research we have." Will said.
"Say what now?!" Nagato shouted.
"You will be the test subject for the experiment both the Eagle Union and the Royal Navy are working on." Will said it with a grin on his face.
"Stop the car." Nagato ordered. Immediately the driver slammed on the brakes making everyone jump in their seats. As soon as the car stopped, Nagato unbuckled his seat belt then walked outside.
"Nagato! Why would you do that?" Will asked.
"It's best for me to leave before you show me another document to sign, besides, I can walk the extra three kilometers so that won't be a problem. Just go back to the headquarters. I'm pretty sure that you still have a lot of work to do." Nagato said whilst removing the luggage out of the trunk.
"Are you sure about that?"
"Positively."
"Fine, it's your choice. Head back to the headquarters ASAP" Will commanded. The driver immediately put the car on drive then zoomed out. Nagato waved his hand to the car then proceeded to walk.
"Right, how long will I get there?" Nagato asked himself.
"Guess will never know if I'll keep staying here." He said to himself. He then started walking straight to the base.
On his journey there, he noticed three yellow birds were lost. "Hello little fellas, let me carry you with me. It's too dangerous to stay out in the open." Nagato picked up the birds and hugged the three of them gently to avoid squishing them. He then proceeded to walk to his destination.
Three hours after walking continuously without stopping, he finally arrived at the front gate. The three birds noticed the gate then hopped off his arms and saluted at him, which confused the young commander. By now it was already 8 in the morning, he was hungry for some snacks.
'I could eat some chocolate, but that would make my breath stink… Dammit.' Nagato thought. He placed his hand inside his pocket and took out his smartphone.
He opened his phone and opened his camera to fix himself up, two minutes later he turned his phone off then composed himself, making sure he was serious and professional looking. He unsheathed his saber and check for any chips or bends, thankfully he didn't find any, he then stepped inside the gate and was greeted by two ships who were surprised to see the commander not in a car, but just simply walking with his luggage.
"I assume you two must be the Independence-class that was here to escort me, is that correct?" Nagato asked. By now, he was still holding his saber on his right hand, which worries the two ships, add in the intense aura that he was emitting because of his "professionalism and seriousness", it made them a bit scared.
'S-so intense, who is this man?' The carrier thought. There was an awkward silence for a few minutes till the other carrier decided to break the silence.
"I-It's a pleasure to meet you, Commander. I am the second ship of the Independence class, Princeton. I was originally drafted as Tallahassee, the seventh ship of the Cleveland-class, so you can call me that if you like." The girl which she introduced herself as Princeton said.
"Pleasure to meet you as well, Princeton, and it is a pleasure to meet you too. I hope we could get along in the future. My name is Nagamoto Takashi, call me Nagato for short, I prefer being called by my name than being called in a formal matter. It makes me feel like weird. And I want to change something, I want to treat you ships as humans." Nagato said.
Both ships were surprised that the commander would allow them calling him by his first name rather than addressing him properly. What was also shocking for them is the commander's statement on treating them as humans, which unlocked something deep inside them that confused them a bit.
"Pleasure to meet you as well Commander. I'm Independence, light carrier. One question, commander. Why do you want to treat us like humans? We are all different from humans, so I see no point in treating us ships as humans. Yet alone a reason for you to call us humans." Independence said.
Nagato wasn't shock to hear them say that, he knew there was a huge impertinence between the commander and the ships, he knew about everything that happened in this base, then it suddenly hit him, he was promoted because they wanted him to solve the distrust and disrespect problem in the base. They thought it would be a good idea to promote him because of his kindness, they thought it might change the ship-girls perspective on commanders.
'You clever fuck, Will. I won't let you down at all cheeky bastard' Nagato thought. He went back to reality and answered her question.
"I see no reason for you to call me 'Commander', so why should you call me one? I want this mentality to change, it is a huge insult to be called a military asset, hell you could even call me an expendable resource but if someone were to call me that, I would desert the military immediately. I won't mind you criticizing me because I will respect your opinion and use it to improve, it won't even matter if you argue with me, but here is one thing I will say, I don't care if you don't trust me or anything but don't lose respect to your higher ups. and plus, I don't see a reason why you allow yourselves to be disrespected like that." Nagato said.
The girls were shocked, they did not expect him to shoot out an answer that was impossible to rebuttal. It was the first time for them to be given free speech, let alone being respected. Independence wasn't buying it, she did not believe in the Commander's sweet talk because she thought it was a bait to trick them and using them in the end.
"Commander, with all due respect but we won't get fooled by sweet talk. This might be a bait into using us as a plaything." Independence said.
"Excuse me, what?" Nagato asked, he was dumbfounded when she said that. He did not expect to be disrespected in a harsh way. It angered him a bit, he was ready to blow up at any moment, but he suppressed his anger and instead scolded her on what she said.
"How insolent of you to say that I will just simply use all of you! If this was the case, then I would not have accepted the position then if I were just called an exploiter. Now excuse me but I'm going to decline the offer of being escorted." Nagato said in a displeased tone.
"Sister…" Princeton weakly muttered.
He immediately walked away with his luggage in hand heading to the room he was assigned with. Suddenly, a strong current of wind passed the commander, dropping a small diary in the process. The winds died down after a few seconds. Independence noticed the diary and picked it up. She opened the diary and scanned the pages one by one. One page, which was bookmarked which piqued her curiosity, she proceeded to open the bookmarked page.
She was surprised to see a picture of Nagato with his little sister beside him, she noticed the other page had handwritings, she focused on the handwritings, she saw a date timestamped into the page and a note on the top which reads; The conversation that took place after the picture was taken, never lose this page at all, future Nagato.
FLASHBACK
'Nii-chan, have you worked with the ship girls before?' the girl asked.
'No, I haven't. But it would be interesting if I did. Why did you ask Yui-chan?' Nagato asked.
'I wanted to confirm if they're humans like us but with powers. Are they humans?' Yui asked.
'They're definitely humans, not a military asset but a human. But everyone around the world treats them like a military asset, which is sad honestly.' Nagato said
'Then will you promise me that you will prove to the whole world they are humans?' Yui asked.
'I don't know how to do-'
'Promise me?
'I promise, but you have-'
'No conditions at all.'
'Drats'
FLASHBACK END
A pang of regret flowed in the carrier as she reflected on what she said to the commander. She was truly sorry for what she said after reading what the diary said. She wanted to apologize to the commander for saying rude things to him, but she couldn't do that because the commander is gone. She closed the diary and immediately walked away, deeply reflecting on what she said.
Nagato continued walking until he reached the dorms, where he encountered an unusual white-haired woman sitting in the stairs. He approached the woman and asked her about his room.
"Hello there, I was wondering where I can find my room?" He asked the woman.
"Oh, you must be the commander. What happened to your escort?" The woman asked.
"Ditched them, why?" Nagato said.
"Well they were supposed to escort you to a private house, this is the dormitory for the ship girls, the building for you is behind this dormitory." The woman said.
"Thank you very much." Nagato said. He turned around and started walking, but before he could go any further, the woman grabbed his shoulder to prevent him from going anywhere. Nagato turned around and faced the woman.
"Do you need anything else?" Nagato asked.
"Let me escort you on the way there." The woman offered. Nagato accepted the offer and both started walking. On the way there, Nagato saw a vending machine and walk towards it, he bought two bars of chocolate and gave the other one to the woman.
"Here, have this." Nagato handed the chocolate bar to her. She looked at him at tilted her head. She was confused for a second then promptly accepted the food presented to her. Nagato walked to the nearby bench and offered the woman a seat by patting the space beside him. The woman hesitated for a moment before sitting down with him, but quickly subsided after her legs betrayed her.
"Thank you." She thanked him. She unwrapped the treat, then promptly took a bite. A rush of sweetness quickly invaded her mouth, a satisfied moan slipped out her mouth as she continued chowing down on the treat. She was on cloud nine right now. Nagato took mental notes reminding himself to give her chocolate as much as possible.
"Mmhm. That tasted good, especially since it is my first-time eating stuff like these." The woman said. Nagato was flabbergasted upon hearing what she said, he did not expect for her to not have eaten chocolate ever in her life. He quickly shrugged it off and act like she said nothing.
'Note to self, invite her to a local desert shop.'
"Hmm? This is your first-time eating chocolate? That is odd uh, um… who are you again?" Nagato questioned the woman. She gladly introduced herself to him.
"Enterprise, I'd like for us to maintain a Superior-Subordinate relationship." The woman who introduced herself as Enterprise said. Nagato expected for that answer but decided not to comment on it for now. He continued chowing down on the treat until he finished it all. He stood up and walk towards the trash can. Sooner after, Enterprise also followed and walked ahead of the commander, which Nagato payed no mind for it.
"Shall we go?" Enterprise asked.
"Sure."
They started walking to the building where Nagato was going to stay in. A few minutes of walking, they finally arrived. Nagato was in complete shock, he did not expect a large modern-style house in front of him. He sure did not expect to live in a big house as he grew accustomed to smaller ones after being holed up in his small apartment for three whole years.
"Maybe this was a lucky day." Nagato said.
