Chapter 1: Disappearing Into A Storm

USS Constitution, nicknamed Old Ironsides for her seemingly impenetrable wooden hulls. Launched in 1797, she was the oldest ship in active service in the world and she was already 223 years old by 2020. Her design consisted of a wooden hull, and she had full-rigged sails on three wooden masts. Her displacement was 2,200 tons, she was 93 meters long from her bowsprit to her spanker and 53 meters at her waterline. Her beam was 13.26 meters wide, her mainmast was 67 meters tall, and her hold was 4.34 meters deep. She carried eight smaller boats with her, with one longboat, two cutters, two whaleboats, one gig, one jolly boat and one punt. She carried an armament of thirty 24-pounder long guns, twenty 32-pounder carronades, and two 24-pounder bow chasers. She was known for defeating the British ships HMS Guerriere, HMS Java, HMS Pictou, HMS Cyane, and HMS Levant, and she contributed to an important part of the history of the US. Enough of explaining about her, let's get right into the present shall we?

USS Constitution let out a gravelly sigh, which only came out as the slight creaking of the sails on her tall masts. Half of her crew was busy cleaning her decks while the rest were busy discussing in her berth deck about the current happenings of the year. The year was off to a bad start with the Australia forest fires, Venice gradually sinking underwater due to melting ice caps, the short fiasco between USA and Iran, and the eruption of a volcano in the Philippines. Worst of all was the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic with third world countries suffering the worst damage to their economies. She was also a museum ship while also being in active service, which provided a large chunk of her maintenance funding to keep her up and running. But due to the ongoing pandemic, she had to open and close her museum doors in irregular schedules. This, along with the itinerary of the three-foot social distancing, caused the number of her visitors to gradually dwindle and so did her maintenance funds. If the pandemic was to continue for at least two years, she wouldn't stay afloat even half a month after that time period. One of the sailors discussing in her berth deck left to walk on her spar deck, looking around the busy Boston cityscape with a sad expression plastered on his face. "You were valiant, but because of this damned pandemic it seems that you would die off with a pathetic cause if this lasted two more years. The maintenance fund set for you is dwindling, and it'll become insufficient by the next 15 months. Plus there's hurricane Desmond that already hit Florida, Category Three, the south got hit hard." He sighed sadly as he leaned on her deck wall, looking up to her towering masts as if he was talking directly to her. Constitution sighs in response, and the sailor would hear this is as the slight creaking of her sails. "Well, I've went through storms already back in my heydays, y'know. Plus, we've all went through hurricanes Matthew, Ivan, and Irma, right? Don't worry that much about me, I'll be very much fine." She chuckled lightly as she reassured her sailor, even though she knew the fact that the passing breeze was the only one able to hear her words. But as if the sailor heard her words, he replied words of concern that she would later treasure in her life.

"May the tides ever turn to your favor."

As if on cue, the rest of the crew were already dismissed by a superior of theirs and heading for their homes. They were walking with at least a meter's distance away from each other, and the sailor Constitution just conversed with would join the rest of the crew departing the ship through her gangplank. She let out another gravelly sigh, her masts creaking ever so slightly. "I do wish his words were true…" She said to herself with a tone of concern and worry, her frame gently and quietly bobbing up and down on the water.

The azure sky over Boston was overcast by gray clouds the entire morning, and for each passing hour the clouds seem to grow darker. The usual gentle breeze was replaced by wind that strongly blew around papers and trash across the roads of Boston, and along with the clouds it blew stronger for each passing hour. The city streets were empty save for some speeding cars rushing their drivers to the safety of their homes, and this emptiness gave the city an eerie silence. The dark skies, the city's unsettling silence, and the strong winds gave an eerie atmosphere that disturbed even the oldest frigate in the world. "I have a bad feeling about this. By the time hurricanes hit Massachusetts, they're supposed to be around Category One or weaker. I don't know what is happening, but I have a really bad feeling about this." Constitution said to herself over the howling winds. Two days ago, she was moved to her dry dock so that she wouldn't be washed off to the sea if ever the hurricane hit Massachusetts. The wind became deafeningly strong, causing the water from the large, open river to form pretty large waves that sloshed around. Some water spilled every now and then into her empty dam, causing her to tense up. Her sails creaked loudly from the strong blowing of the wind as the rain suddenly started to pour in heavy torrents. With all this, she started to cuss up a storm as strong as the hurricane around her. "Shit, oh shit. Not like this, not like this! Damnit!" She said as the winds grew stronger and caused even more water to spill gradually in her dry dock. She prayed to God and hoped that her dam wouldn't crack from all the waves, but much to her terror the barrier started to crack from the middle. For a moment she got relieved for a moment from the thought that she was kept in place by ropes tied to poles around her, only to realize that she actually wasn't. "God fucking damnit! Somebody, anybody help!" She shouted for help as loudly as she can, fear and terror filling her voice as she spoke. But nobody heard her as her voice was drowned out by winds getting ever so stronger and the rain battering on top of her decks, as if the hurricane wanted to silence her before murdering her. The dam which served as her only protection from getting carried away by the hurricane cracked even more, the cracks growing outwards faster and faster as some water also started seeping through in some places. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit! Please stop! I don't wanna die!" Her voice was filled with terror and panic. Sure, she went through some storms back in her heydays, but what she didn't go through was going right in the middle of one. With one final crack, her protective dam crumbled and let the roaring waters from the river crashed right into Constitution. She grunted from the rushing water's impact as her supports under her got toppled over. With that she was pushed forwards by the water, and the distinct sound of wood colliding with stone can be heard a moment later over the deafening sounds of the hurricane. "GAH! That hurt, damnit!" She said in a pained and irritated voice as she was roughly and quickly carried out of her formerly empty dry dock and out into the rushing waters of Boston River. She was carried towards southeast, directly to the furious and dangerous stormy Atlantic under the raging hurricane. "Nooooo! Please! Help me!" She screamed in fear in a futile attempt to call for anybody's attention, but the only thing to hear her scream was the howling wind that effortlessly drowned out her cries for help. She was now 19 kilometers offshore in a matter of a few minutes, her panicking reaching its peak as she shrieked in terror while the roaring waves around her battered her wooden hull. Her screams only came out as the loud and deep creaking of her entire wooden frame, and they still went unheard under the combined sounds of the strong howling winds, roaring waters, and heavily pouring rain as she was pulled deeper into the raging hurricane. Suddenly, a wave about 90 meters tall towered over her wooden frame getting battered by the strong, raging winds and waves. "Oh God! No, nooooo! NOOOOOOOO! AHHHHHHHHHHHH-!" Her terrified shriek was cut off as the large wave crashed above her, fully submerging her below the ferocious waters and gales. She couldn't say a word anymore as air escaped her insides and was replaced with water, and she was left to silently shriek as she plunged deeper in into the deep, black waters below her.

OLDEST WARSHIP MISSING AFTER HURRICANE

USS Constitution disappears without a trace

These are only two out of the many headlines buzzing across newspapers, televisions, and the internet worldwide. When Hurricane Desmond's eye was around 70 kilometers offshore from Boston, Massachusetts, its strength suddenly weakened and disappeared altogether in a matter of four hours. After the hurricane's disappearance, it was discovered that USS Constitution was gone from her dry dock. US Coast Guard dispatched many units to search under Boston River only to turn up empty-handed, and they were met with the same result when they searched around the surrounding sea. The search area became increasingly larger and larger for each failed attempt to find her to the point the Coast Guard search as far as 527 kilometers west off Spain's shore, but they still turned up empty-handed without any single trace or piece of debris from the lost ship. It was like she disappeared altogether into thin air as the hurricane passed over her, and about a thousand controversies and conspiracy theories were formed in a record time of only under six hours after the news of her seeming demise came up. Among those theories was one that told that she was teleported to another world, but nobody believed that because of the lack of proof and evidence for her disappearance. Turns out that theory is actually the correct one, but nobody will ever know. About the world she got teleported to? We'll find out soon enough.
