Now, Lin Ye and four girls were now standing in front of a bunny man. Said bunny man was the owner of the hotel. Said owner of the hotel was now furious. Said furious man was now pointing a finger at Lin Ye.
"You! You!"
"Um, I'm sorry?" Lin Ye said as he scratched his head.
"You're sorry?! You destroy a door in my hotel!"
"Okay! Okay!" He tried to calm him down, "Let me explain."
They were all in front of the front counter of the hotel. That meant that many people would be attracted to this scene. Lin Ye didn't want this situation to go out of control. The best he could do was to try to give a decent excuse for why this was happening.
He couldn't just say that they found a Mafia group in this very hotel. Who would even believe him?
He wouldn't.
He was just glad that he did not let Ifrit let loose. If he did he would need to explain why the whole hotel was burning to the ground. Thank god-Messiah?- Liz was normal.
He cannot deal with four crazy people at once.
"So, this is what happened," Calmly tried to explain himself, "When we were about to open the door, we heard someone screaming inside of it. So, my two friends here burst through the door without any second thought. And when we went inside the scream was from the television."
Lin Ye really hoped that this would be enough for this furious bunny to calm down.
Why do all bunny men so easily become angry?
The owner was about to say something but Skadi cut him off. She stared at him with her blood-coloured eyes.
"Where is this woman?" She put a photo on the counter, "She is an Oni that lived on the same floor as we are. Where is she now?"
With how her question came out of nowhere, the man did not know how to respond.
Lin Ye then teleported behind Skadi and covered her mouth and slowly dragged her away.
Luckily for Lin Ye, she did not resist and follow him, even though she could easily overpower him at any moment.
When they were far enough, Lin Ye let her go.
"Skadi, I know that you have a hard time talking with people. However, please read the mood." Lin Ye really needed a raise after this.
"What do you mean?" Skadi looked confused.
"We are a Pharmaceutical Company not a mob of some sort." Lin Ye tried to explain.
"Is there any difference?" She raised a brow at him.
"Of course, there is," Lin Ye sighed, "We need to follow some steps before we go into the main topic."
Skadi looked at him like he was stupid, "I see no reason why we should do that. The most important thing that we have to do is to find this woman. Other than that, it is irrelevant to us."
This made Lin Ye feel like a parent trying to explain the basics of human interaction between people to their child.
"I know that you are right, but we still need to keep in mind other people's feelings when we need something from them, Skadi. You can't be too selfish."
This was what his mother told him when he was about to go into college. His mother knew that her son did not have any social skills at that time but the only thing that she could do for him was to give some advice. He had to learn all of his social skills by trial by fire. Thankfully for him, he survived and even made some good friends even if his friends could only be counted by one hand.
One was even a popular girl in the college. Why did she wanted to be his fried, he still di not know. He still did not know why she was a bit nervous around him either. Was she intimidated by him? It couldn't be that he was a man. She had a lot of male friends other than him.
Skadi looked at him and said something that woke him from his daydreaming.
"I only need to consider your feelings."
"Huh?"
"Because now, I am talking to you, not them," Skadi explained.
Please stop saying this type of thing to me. It really makes me misunderstand what you wanted to say.
Lin Ye sighed at how bad her communication skills were.
"Hey!" The owner yelled at him.
Seeing that Lin Ye completely ignored him, he becomes enraged. He then slaps his hand to get Lin Ye's attention.
"I was talking-!"
Another hand slapped on the counter. This time it was far louder than the owners.
Lappland glared at the owner with her murderous eyes.
"I think you don't understand," She glared at him, "We're the one asking you."
The man was frozen in place. The aura that she was emitting from herself was suffocating for him. Like he was being stared down by a predator. He couldn't say anything in front of her.
Lin Ye teleported behind Lappland and dragged her away as he did with Skadi. Covering her mouth, he dragged her away before she could make a scene.
With how fast he did it, Lappland did not have time to react so it was easy for him to drag her far from the inevitable chaos that she would make.
"What are you doing?! Are you really trying to act like a gangster?! If you are, you are doing a good job!" He felt something was stabbing into his hand, "Ow! Don't bite!"
Lin Ye let go of her when she bit down on his poor hand.
"You are wasting our time! With how long we are talking they would have run too far away for us to catch up!" She glared at him, "Let me do how we do it at Siracusa. It's way better than what we are doing now."
"The Siracusa's way?" Lin Ye glared at her, "Do you just want to cut someone!"
"No! Who said that I was about to cut him?" She looked offended by what he just said, "We don't go around cutting people for fun all the time."
So, you do it sometimes?!
She continued, "If something happens like this, we would investigate first. When we find who is in the wrong, we force them to pay back for the damage. If the owner of the hotel is in the wrong, if he was in Siracusa, the mafia will burn this place to the ground. So, we just need to pay for the damage and we can be done with all of this talking. So, give you money and let me do the rest."
This made him less worried now. But he still would not trust his money with Lappland.
"Let me just pay for us," Lin Ye sighed at his situation.
He could understand that the owner will not let Lin Ye and the others go that easy. He could understand why Lappland threatened him too. He did not even listen to his explanation.
Did she get mad because he was being yelled at?
… Nah, who am I kidding?
After paying for the damage and hearing his wallet dying, the owner seemed to be more reasonable now.
"Sorry for my friend. She is like that. Ow!"
Lin Ye felt a slight pain in his arm. He looked down and saw a Lupo biting on it. He sighed.
Lin Ye looked back at the owner with a forced smile, "So, can I have some idea who was in the room."
"I-I understand. Please wait dear guest," He then went through the reservation book of his hotel rooms.
"Let me see. They went out last night. The last time I saw them was also last night."
Skadi then looked at the clock in the room. "That means that they left in the middle of the night."
Lin Ye murmured, "No way. Does a dog have a worse sleeping schedule than me?"
Lappland who heard him glared at him.
Lin Ye wisely shut up. He really did not want to be bitter again.
"How about the Oni woman from the East?"
The owner pushed his glasses up his nose, "Her? She checked out this morning."
"This morning?" Lin Ye raised a brow.
"Yes, dear guest. Even though she came in the middle of the night, she checked out before dawn."
That's peculiar.
Lin Ye looked at Skadi to get her opinion.
Skadi then looked at the owner, "Do you have the exact time when she went out?"
"Unfortunately, I do not. It was too late at night... Wait." He seemed to remember something.
"What is it?" Lin Ye asked.
"I think that I saw a group of people following her when she went out. I may have been hallucinating at that time," He explained what he had experienced to them.
"It looks like you have trouble sleeping. I have some pills for that." Ifrit said.
Lin Ye put his hand on her head, "Good intention, bad timing, Ifrit."
Ifrit rolled her eyes but did not push his hand away.
"I don't need sleeping pills," The bunny man shook his head, "I have been in this lazy town for so long. This is my first experience at a Halloween festival here. However, I feel something bad will happen. I just didn't know what it would be."
Lin Ye scratched his chin.
"Ah. It may be just an old man thinking too much into this. Just forget dear guests. Have a good time here. Enjoy your Halloween festival experience."
Lin Ye felt a bit touched by how he was now. Just a moment ago he looked like he was about to rip him into pieces. He was just a man that was doing his business. He thought that he could relate with this man better now.
Lin Ye nodded at the owner and went to their floor with the other behind him.
"So, what now?" Lappland asked him, "Are we going all around the town to find her."
Lin Ye rolled his eyes at her, "We will not do that. In addition, I don't want you to destroy the town. I don't have an endless amount of money to pay for the damage."
Lin Ye then thought about something. He looked at Skadi.
"Skadi, can you give me that photo again?"
Skadi handed over the photo to him. He looked at it carefully, analyzing the photo as much as he could.
"Hmm," After a bit of thinking, he looked at the other, "I think she is not one of the members of the mafia."
Skadi frowned at this, " Why do you say that?"
"Logic and intuition of course." Lin Ye looked back at the photo in his hand, "I feel that she is not a bad person."
She looked really familiar too. But why?
