A/N: And now, the end is here! Oh, my heart, I love Charlie and Hermione together. It's just, swoon. I'll want to come up with some more Charmione because I really do love the pairing. I also prefer Post-Hogwarts, just because that's where my life is. It's easy enough to pull from my own personal experiences to come up with stories. I've lived a, well, interesting life.
I'm going to commit to coming back to this couple one day though, because it makes my heart sing. So, any Charmione fics that you've come across. Send my direction because I'd love to read them all.
I've always felt like the Ron/Hermione pairing felt way too easy. I realize that JKR wasn't writing a romance or anything, but damn when she had the chance in HBP she could have really branched out and done something more.
I loved the idea of Hermione and Fred being a couple, maybe I'll see if I can get a short one out of them, because I've got ideas just nothing clear at the moment. Just my monster that has been stewing in the back of my mind for months.
Without further ado, the epilogue (because it's really not long enough to justify being called a chapter)…
Charlie and Hermione
It was an oddly warm April day in Ottery St. Catchpole. There was a breeze coming through and rustling the tall grass that was swaying. Hermione was looking down out onto the yard of The Burrow as Ginny helped to do the buttons on the back of her dress.
"I can't believe it's finally happening. Merlin's left nut, my mother was starting to drive me mad. You'd think being blood traitors would make mum not care about having a child living in" Ginny looked around for dramatic effect, "sin" she hissed the last word.
Rolling her eyes, Hermione turned towards the full-length mirror in front of her admiring her appearance. The dress had beaded spaghetti straps with capes cascading down the arms. The lace that laid over the top had a floral pattern and silk buttons all the way up her back holding it all into place.
Hermione had opted to not wear any necklaces for her wedding, instead she wore her grandmother's simple pearl earrings. Her curls had been tamed and elegantly framed her face with a low bun sitting at the base of her neck, held in together with a diamond studded hair comb.
She felt beautiful, a picture of perfection.
"Gin, have you seen the girls anywhere? I want to make sure that they aren't ruining their outfits." Hermione asked her friend.
"Last I saw Mum had them. Though, do you think I should check on Fleur? She did take James, Albus, and Lily. That's a lot of kids to be in charge of at once." She said as she checked her reflection in the mirror.
"You do realize that Fleur has three children of her own. And they are old enough that she doesn't have to chase them every few feet. Like you do with yours." Hermione commented laughing at how much Ginny was fretting.
"Well, Bill isn't around to help her, but I suppose if things get rough Victoire can always step in and help with them." Ginny double checked to make sure that her long braid was still in place and that the flowers they had braided in were staying in place.
"Padma is also helping with your kids, don't forget. She had Panju and he plays really well with James and Albus."
"Okay, true. I'm going off to find those girls and make sure that they are ready. I'll be back!" Ginny squealed; with one last squeeze of Hermione's hand, she was out the door.
Hermione finished inspecting herself in the mirror, grabbed her tube of lipstick and added just a bit more. The bright red color really stood out against her chestnut skin and Hermione was satisfied with her makeup.
Taking a sip of champagne, Hermione willed the bubbles to help ease her nerves.
It had been just over five years since the opening of the dragon sanctuary. In those five years it had grown and expanded and did become a well-oiled machine just like the Romanian sanctuary. Their staff had grown and after Amos's retirement in 2010, Rolf had been named head of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.
With his retirement, he had approved to open up more positions in the office of the sanctuary. Casey had made the permanent move from Romania, during Hermione's maternity leave she realized that she had a knack for being head of all things personal related.
Charlie had stayed as the head dragon keeper, he still enjoyed getting to interact with all the dragons, but he thrived at training all the new recruits that were pouring in from around the world. They had more applicants for their program than the Swedish Dragon Reservation the last two years, and it was all because they wanted to be trained by the Charlie Weasley.
Hermione's assistant Ben had gotten a promotion and he was in charge of all egg cases and working with the Aurors office. Charlie hadn't even attempted to hide his excitement when he was told that Hermione was no longer going to be in charge of egg retrievals.
Hermione ran the rest of the sanctuary, and over saw it as a whole. She didn't micro manage everything that Ben and Casey managed. She got their weekly reports and accepted that they truly understood the ins and the outs of the sanctuary.
They almost always stayed at full capacity for the dragons that they had living with them at any given time and only had the one Opaleye who had come to them on their first day that was a full-time resident.
A knock at the door brought Hermione from her thoughts, as she looked up to see her mother standing in the door with a wide smile on her face.
"I think they're about ready for you. You look stunning, my love." Nadine held out her arms waiting for Hermione to stand and come into them for a warm tight hug.
"Thanks mum, I think I'm ready." Hand in hand, Hermione and her mother walked to the bend that hid them away from the archway where Charlie was standing and waiting for her. Hermione's father turned at the sound of their approach with a wide smile on his face.
"What a perfect day for a wedding, don't you think?"
Two identical heads with long curls all the way down their backs appeared in front of Hermione, smiles beaming up at her.
Their dark chocolate brown eyes with thick lashes and their almond brown skin. They were glowing and perfect little girl.
"Franny, Lottie, are you girls ready?" Hermione asked her daughters. Frances Nadine and Charlotte Jean would be turning five in just over a month. They had been even more excited than Hermione was when her and Charlie had finally decided on a wedding date.
"Yes mum, I've also got the little wagon ready for AJ to ride in. Though, Uncle Harry said that he did the sticking charm correctly for the rings so that the baby can't eat them, but I don't know that he actually did it well enough." Franny was explaining with enthusiasm.
"Mum, Uncle Ron tried giving AJ a chocolate frog and I stopped him. He thought that having just onewouldn't be a big deal, but honestly, he was just asking to be scolded." Lottie explained with her hands on her hips.
Hermione couldn't deny either child.
"Where is your brother? Dad, have you seen AJ? Why isn't he in the wagon, they're getting ready to go down the aisle." Hermione began to panic a little as she swung her head around looking for her six-month old son, Arthur Jack.
"Well, he's already delayed this wedding once, why not twice." Franny said as she skipped over to get her basket filled with rose petals.
She wasn't wrong. Hermione and Charlie had originally set a date to get married in September of 2013, but when they'd found out she was pregnant with AJ and due in October, they'd decided to give themselves an extra six-months of planning instead of rushing a wedding.
Ginny had also been glad since she had given birth to her daughter, Lily Luna, in September. The date change ended up working out well. Now here they were on the perfect day, the twenty-fifth of April.
Just as Hermione was ready to run off to go find her son, her red headed best friend round the corner carrying him. Red wild curls on the top of his head with the same almond skin tone as his sisters, AJ Weasley looked adorable in his infant dress robes.
"Ronald! Did you try to feed my baby a chocolate frog?" Hermione scolded.
Blue eyes went wide with shock, then turned to glare at his nieces who had just at that moment found their nail beds to be much more interesting than their mother and uncle.
"One day, one day I'll be able to tell the pair of you apart and I'll come for whoever keeps ratting me out to your mother." He said looking back and forth between the girls.
"Honestly Ronald, I'm supposed to be getting married." Hermione gathered the little boy from his uncle and looked into his green eyes that matched his grandfather's. "Okay, off to your seat with your wife. Shoo, shoo." Hermione waved her free hand towards her friend who walked off with a laugh.
Ginny appeared from nowhere to lift AJ out of Hermione's arms and settled him into the wagon that was set to be pulled behind his sisters and in front of his Aunt Ginny.
Ginny grabbed Hermione's face and looked her over once more, adding a little more blush to Hermione's cheeks, then nodded her head.
"I think you're ready to get married. Yes, you are defiantly ready to become an official Weasley." Ginny said with a soft smile.
"Granger-Weasley" Hermione corrected her, this had been a sore subject with Molly, but Hermione knew that Ginny would see the humor in it.
"Oh yes, that's right, Granger-Weasley." Ginny gave a wink and went to stand behind the wagon that was about to pull away. With one last hug to her mother, Hermione looped her arm in her father's, looking up into his eyes with a broad smile on her face.
The music started up and the twins looked at each other with a smirk, that reminded Hermione a lot of the same look that Fred and George would give each other, and took off skipping, throwing their rose petals in the air.
AJ's wagon began to roll closely behind his sister's. In the short time since Ginny had set him up, he'd already fallen asleep and was softly taking deep breaths and smiling to his dreams. Ginny followed behind, not even trying to contain the soft laugh at the sight of her slumbering nephew in front of her.
Then it was Hermione's turn.
Clutching her bouquet to her chest with one arm, the other holding onto her father, Hermione was ready to walk into the future with her forever.
Looking up, Hermione's eyes met Charlie's and she just knew, that no matter what the future held, they'd always face it, together.
The End
