First of all, I don't own Harry Potter or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I don't own anything at all besides the computer I'm typing this on.
The Chosen Ones: Chapter 9 HP/BTVS
-Potter Beach House, Los Angeles USA. July 31st, 1988-
Harry Potter sits up and gasps as he looks around confused trying to figure out what is going on, the last thing he remembers is being with Buffy at their house in purgatory and Death being there. Harry's eyes then lose focus as he gains the memories of the past seven years in his current world. Halloween went just as Death said it would. However, there were a few butterfly effects that happened from the change in the timeline and all of them were great.
It turns out that the Goblins were kind enough to send Bellatrix a letter about them confiscating a banned item from her vault with the item being destroyed and her vault fined. She got the letter an hour before she was going to leave to attack the Longbottoms. Bellatrix went to see her account manager right away to see what item they were talking about. When she found out it was the item given to her by Voldemort, she went into a rage and killed her account manager with a Killing Curse. Guards stormed in and removed her head which along with her body was fed to a dragon while the rest of her vault was confiscated. Even though Bellatrix didn't show up, Rodolphus Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange, and Barty Crouch Jr. still decided to carry out the attack on the Longbottoms. While Frank and Alice were hurt they were able to hold the three Death Eaters off long enough for help to arrive and the three Death Eaters were captured. Frank and Alice were fully healed the next day so Neville was being raised by his parents instead of his overbearing Grandmother.
With Snape being killed by Sirius while Snape was in full Death Eater robes and mask, he was just another dead mindless minion of Voldemort. Dumbledore tried painting him as a spy for the Light but was ignored when the illegal Dark Love Potion was found in his pocket and Snape was known to be obsessed with Lily Potter. Because Snape was dead he never became the Professor of Potions at Hogwarts nor the Head of House for Slytherin.
The board of Governors, in a bid to show they were moving past the war, hired Andromeda Tonks as both Professor of Potions and Head of House for Slytherin. Dumbledore was upset about them going over his head but he knew she was Harry's Godmother so Dumbledore planned to use her as a tool to shape Harry into a martyr. With Sirius being a free man and not rotting away in Azkaban, the Tonks family visited them during the Summers with Sirius and Harry. Because of Harry's young and innocent influence, Nymphadora now goes by Dora while having a sibling type relationship with Harry.
Remus Lupin, also known as Moony, got Sirius's letter and two weeks later. He was now living with Sirius and Harry at the Potter beach house that was on the outskirts of Los Angeles and Moony was firmly on Team Marauder. Unknown to either Marauder when first coming to the USA, Magical USA was very forward thinking towards the peaceful Werewolves with the curse being treated as a disability. Remus easily found work at Harry's magical school as a teacher and is very popular with the students thanks to his Marauder nature by making learning fun. Remus spent most of his time when not working, using pranks and other fun games to teach Harry basic things such as dodging and situational awareness while keeping an eye on Harry who seemed to live on his broom.
This mainly happened because of the Civil Rights Movement from the muggle world during the mid 50's to the late 60's also worked its way into the magical community. This had the added effect of making the magicals of the USA more forward thinking and working closely with their non-magical counterparts.
Sirius was aware of the prophecy because James told him and Sirius didn't get his memories of the Prophecy wiped by Dumbledore this time because of the change in past events. Both Marauders were using pranks and other fun games to prepare Harry and to teach him how to defend himself from Voldemort, Death Eaters, and rabid fans. Also, once they were in America Sirius had the Goblins put a new Fidelius Charm over the Potter house in Godric's Hollow with Andromeda as the Secret Keeper. Thanks to the Regent Potter ring he was instantly made aware of the secret. It was cast three days after Sirius and Harry arrived in America.
Harry found out that America doesn't like Dumbledore because he has too many powerful positions in Magical Britain and is maintaining the status quo while not accepting the advances made in magical education like Magical America has.
In Magical America all wizards and witches are required to complete their non-magical education up to getting a High School diploma. This is accomplished by the system Magical America uses to educate their young Wizards and Witches. They first have a choice of going to non-magical school during the school year and doing magical education during a two week time compression over summer or doing magical education over the school year and non-magical over the two week time compression. The time compression doesn't physically age the young students as they spend ten months of time learning. They are also given the option to test out of the time compression material for those advanced students who study ahead. Harry is doing magical education over the school year and non-magical in time compression. Both Sirius and Remus spent time getting their non-magical education as well.
Magical education starts when the wizards and witches are seven years old, for the first year they learn basic wand care and handling, Latin, class 1 magical creatures, magical theory, and magical history. Their second year they get Practice Wands that have been invented by an American Witch in the late 70s, the practice wand comes with a book that has both easy and very useful spells in it. The book teaches the theory about the spell, wand movements, and the incantation for the spell. Next to the spell name on the page is a red square, when the practice wand is touched to the red square it turns green and the practice wand is loaded with the spell selected. If cast wrong the tip of the wand glows red, if done partially correct it will glow yellow, and if done correctly it will grow green. Instead of basic wand care and handling, the second years start learning spells from that book, they also start learning potion brewing safety and basic theory. This is the year Harry will be attending in a few months.
What was surprising to the returned Harry was that young Harry made friends with a golden blonde haired girl with cobalt blue eyes named Buffy Summers who not only shares a birthday with him but is also a Veela. What was even more surprising was that Buffy was also a Parselmouth like him as they found out when they visited the Zoo a few weeks ago and that Joyce was also a Veela. Harry knew Buffy would be Veela because of the Veela Soul Bond they did in purgatory. But he didn't know about Buffy sharing his Parselmouth gift that it turned out Harry got from his father's side of the family as it pops up from time to time.
Harry was happy that while his classmates know who he is they treat him like everyone else. Harry is also happy that Dumbledore doesn't know where he is and thinks Sirius and Remus are raising him under a Fidelius protected house thanks to Andromeda along with Fate keeping Dumbledore away. Harry and Buffy were very good friends with each other but were just acquaintances with the other kids in their class.
Along with those memories was a message from Death explaining that the memories Harry got were more detailed so he was better informed, that Buffy will get the same detailed memories as well as the message from him, that Fate arranged it so Buffy will show up on the Hogwarts list along with cloaking their Soulmate status from all but Gringotts until they were sorted at Hogwarts. What was surprising was that Death said that when Harry completes his Soulmate bond with Buffy he will be just as magically powerful as he was in Purgatory. This means he will end up more powerful than he was before because of the growth he will go through as they are here. Death explained it as a favor from his sister Fate to make sure things go right as well as to make sure Harry can handle Dumbledore if needed when he goes to Hogwarts at 11, and it is balanced out because they will be leaving this universe after Riddle is taken care of. Death also mentioned that after the Soulmate bond is completed Buffy will be just as powerful as Harry was meant to be when he was 8 years old if there was no prophecy. This means if they were to stay here until they were done growing magically, Buffy would be just a little more powerful than Voldemort is. Death explained that this way Buffy will be able to magically protect herself if needed. There were also a few minor other pieces of information, and finally, there was the knowledge of how to access Harry's personal pocket dimension through the link in his soul. Harry found out that accessing it is very easy along with the fact that once Harry and Buffy complete their Soulmate bond, Buffy will be able to access it as well even in her world.
Once Harry absorbed the new memories his eyes came into focus and the first thing the 14 year old teenage boy trapped in his 8 year old body did was get out of bed to use the bathroom. After emptying his bladder, Harry used the mind link to Buffy that they shared thanks to the Veela Soul Bond they did while in purgatory. "Buffy love are you there?" Harry sent out over the mind-link to Buffy.
It was about 15 seconds later that he got a response. "Harry we have a very serious problem that needs to be taken care of right away." Buffy sent back to Harry over their link and he could hear his girlfriend was upset. But because of the memories of growing up with Sirius Black and his serious Puns, Harry couldn't resist.
"How can Sirius have a problem? The old dog is sleeping and I know a perfect way to wake him up." Harry sent to Buffy over their link, the humor in his mental voice was obvious.
Buffy really wanted to have the problem fixed right now. But after spending time with the younger Harry and being around his godfather she too has been pranked by the dog so decided to be nice to her boyfriend and let him have his fun. "Fine, you may prank the fleabag. But YOU mister need to fix this major problem as soon as you're done! So how are you going to prank him?" Buffy sent back over the mind-link. She loved having it with Harry but they never had the cause to use it often in purgatory.
"What is the major problem, my love? As for the prank well…" Harry asked his girlfriend, lover, and Mate over their bond before explaining his prank on his Dogfather.
"The problem lover is that I woke up in bed alone so you will fix this problem pronto after pranking your Dogfather. You will also be sharing that pranking memory with me in the pensive later." Buffy sent over their link with a very serious tone that Harry heard before and was used before to convey there would be a lack of sex that day unless he did as she asked.
"Right sorry about that love, be fixing that in a moment." Harry replied over their link before heading towards Sirius's bedroom door. He knew his prank would get Moony too, which was just perfect.
Once outside Sirius's bedroom door Harry checked the door for spells and removed the alert wards and locking charm. Harry then transformed into his animagus form that was a Royal Gryphon, he reared back then charged forward, crashing through the door leaping onto the bed of his Godfather who sat up in shock. Harry widely flexed his wings and roared very loudly right in his godfather's face followed by quickly flaming away to Buffy's bedroom.
Harry appeared in Buffy's bedroom in a burst of flames then transformed back into his 8 year old body which was then quickly tackled into a hug by a blonde and silver haired missile screaming "Harry!" Harry, acting on natural instinct and out of habit, pulled Buffy into a very passionate kiss. Buffy responded by wrapping her arms around his neck to hold him close while returning the very tongue intensive kiss. Unseen to the eight year olds that were sharing a lover's kiss was them glowing with a golden silver aura.
As they were kissing Buffy felt Harry using his parseltongue gift to make the kiss more pleasurable for her. Buffy, remembering that she was a parselmouth now too, returned the favor which had Harry hum in pleasure while they continued to kiss.
Joyce, hearing her daughter's scream jerked awake but before she could move her eyes lost focus for a moment before they cleared. Then Joyce got out of bed and grabbed her wand, and ran to her daughter's bedroom. She saw her 20 year old Slayer daughter who was now not only a Slayer but also an eight year old Veela and a witch wrapped around her daughter's friend, Harry Potter. Harry Potter who she now knows is her Daughter's 14 year old boyfriend and lover that Buffy met when she was 16 when she died to the Master, Harry is also now eight years old as well. She watched as the two shared a very passionate kiss that only lovers share while glowing with a golden silver aura, after the aura faded they continued to kiss.
Joyce cleared her throat and got no response, she tried again and got no response so she tried speaking. "Buffy, Harry." Joyce said with her loud and firm mom voice but was ignored by the still kissing pair. Joyce sighed, followed by shrugging her shoulders, pointing her wand at the kissing pair. Joyce cast Aguamenti the water-making charm, sending a large ball of water at the pair.
Harry and Buffy who were very into their morning kiss were rudely interrupted by being hit with a ball of water. They pulled apart and looked where it came from and it was Buffy who spoke first. "Seriously mom, was that really necessary?" Buffy asked in her cute little girl voice while pulling off the upset teenager tone.
"Yes it was dear, you both ignored my attempts to get your attention and you looked like you were about to mount your boyfriend on the floor of your bedroom." Joyce replied using her mom's tone of voice while smiling at her daughter.
Buffy sighed before giving Harry a look that he had seen many times after Buffy was done working out. So with a wave of his hand both Buffy and himself were now fully dried, clean, and fresh. "Thanks Harry." Buffy told her boyfriend with her sweet cheerful voice followed by giving him a kiss on the lips.
"Huh, you know Harry knowing that you can do wandless magic still doesn't remove the shock of seeing an eight year old boy casually using wandless and silent magic." Joyce told Harry while smiling at him fondly. She always liked Harry before, but knowing what she knows now Joyce is even happier he is in Buffy's life. Joyce never cared for Riley as she thought he wasn't right for Buffy, and the less said about Angel the better.
"Wow mom look at you, you look amazing." Buffy said after noticing the changes in her mom. Joyce looked to be about 21 years old, has long flowing golden blonde hair with the Veela silver streaks, sky blue eyes with the silver tint to them, and a figure that would make a fashion model jealous.
Joyce let out a laugh before responding. "Thank you Buffy, but you haven't looked in a mirror yet have you. I must say the changes are noticeable with you now being a Veela even without the silver traits. Oh and Harry I love the new hair, I'd swear that messy bird's nest that you had before was a curse on your family." Joyce said with a smile on her face. No matter what she tried she couldn't help the bird's nest hair he had before today.
Buffy walked over to the full-length mirror that was on the wall near her closet door and looked closely at herself and saw what her mother was talking about. There were minor facial changes that Buffy thought made her look cuter and was looking forward to seeing how much hotter she will be when she hits her teenage years. Buffy loved that her hair was now naturally blonde and even preferred the golden blonde over the honey blonde she used to dye her hair back in her old world. While thinking that the silver streaks mixed with her golden locks looked cute, she also missed how she had her hair in Purgatory. She will have to get Harry to fix that as well in a few years. Finally Buffy loved her new eye color, her eyes were now cobalt blue instead of the sky blue that she had before. She liked this new shade better, the biggest surprise, however, was the unusual Veela trait to her eyes. Instead of the silver tinting to her eyes that all female Veela get and like her mom has, Buffy has two small silver rings one on the outer and one on the inner border of the irises of her eyes. She thought they made her eyes pop out more but couldn't figure out why it happened. Sadly Buffy noticed that she was still short too.
Harry walked behind Buffy and hugged her from behind with his arms around her waist with a hand snaking under her shirt to caress the soft skin of her stomach out of habit with Buffy acting out of instinct and habit by leaning back into him. Harry moved Buffy's hair some before kissing the part where her neck connects to her shoulder followed by resting his chin on her shoulder and looking into her eyes in the mirror's reflection. Harry looked in the mirror and noticed he looked just like a younger version of what he did after going through his first rebirth in Purgatory. Harry looked into the reflected eyes of the love of his life in the mirror and spoke gently. "You look amazing Buffy just like a young goddess. I can also change your hair back to how it was before if you want or you can do it yourself once you learn the spells in a few years." Harry said with a voice full of love and caring while looking into the amazing eyes of his mate.
"Thank you Harry, it's nice to see the real you instead of what younger Harry looked like. I will keep my hair like this for now but will go back to my multicolored look right before we leave for Hogwarts as it will be a nice way to shock their repressed bigoted butts with my vile American ways. I don't understand why my eyes are different than other Veela though, that doesn't make any sense. I'm glad I got my Slayer powers back now, I'm going to need them to protect us both from the rabid Boy Who Lived fangirls. You have the Slayer powers now as well so we should start training with them again to hit our peaks before going to Hogwarts. That place is a death trap for you my love and I'm glad I will be able to see it in person but I'm not looking forward to being trapped in that evil man's castle." Buffy told Harry as one of her hands was rubbing his arm that was around her waist.
"I think the eye change might be from your Slayer side mixing with your Veela side as both are predators and hunters by nature. I think they look sexy as hell and will match your hair even more when it is changed back and I bet Dora is going to love that hair look too." Harry replied to his lover and mate. He shared her worries about Hogwarts but he also knew he would burn Dumbledore alive if it meant keeping Buffy safe from him.
"That's right I will get to meet the infamous Dora at our birthday party today, young Harry talked about her a lot it could make a girl jealous you know. After all, we both know you have a thing for older girls with you sleeping with Fleur and me." Buffy told Harry with her sweet and innocent voice but he also heard the teasing tone when she said the last part.
"No, I have a thing for petite blonde girls remember. Speaking of petite blonde girls, Luna's mother dies in an accident when she is nine so we will have to make sure that doesn't happen this time around." Harry replied to Buffy followed by turning her head and giving her a kiss on the lips.
"Aww, you two look so cute together. Buffy, I'm glad you are a Slayer again as you are going to need it in a few years to keep all the girls off Harry. Especially when we visit one of the Veela colonies and they find out about him." Joyce commented to her daughter with a teasing tone of voice. But she was happy Buffy had her Slayer gifts again and would be able to defend herself without magic.
"The only Veela I need to worry about is Fleur Delacour. She is a French Veela that Harry was sleeping with in the past timeline who was also three years older than him." Buffy told her mom with a look in her eyes that Joyce had seen before in Sunnydale when Buffy was in full slay mode.
"Wow Harry you have a thing for older girls huh?" Joyce said in a teasing voice towards her daughter's boyfriend.
Harry was about to respond but was interrupted by a Wolf Patronus that he recognized as belonging to Moony. "Cub, that was a great prank on the old dog and not only did you get him but me as well. Congratulations on gaining your Marauder heritage and I want to see your inner Marauder as well. So where did you flame off to?" The glowing Wolf Patronus said to those in the room before fading away.
"You pranked the fleabag? Good job Harry I'm so proud of you and I'm glad you got the wolf too. So what did you do?" Joyce asked Harry with a smile on her face in her approving mother tone of voice.
"Give me a second Joyce." Harry said, followed by flicking his wrist as he cast his own Patronus and spoke to it. "Moony I'm at Buffy's." Harry said, followed by his Patronus quickly running off.
Joyce was completely surprised by the amount of power she felt radiating from Harry's Patronus that took the form of a Panther. Not only was the power of his Patronus more powerful than anything she ever felt before, but also the feelings of love coming from it felt like it could destroy over a hundred Dementors. Joyce saw how Buffy moved to cuddle into Harry as the Panther stood next to Buffy with its tail wrapped around her making her sigh with happiness and love showing in her eyes. Upon seeing that, Joyce knew without a doubt that Harry's Patronus form was based on her daughter.
After the glowing silvery Panther was gone, Harry told Joyce what he did to Sirius, earning a laugh from his Mate's mother. "Ohh you will have to show me later in the pensive. Come on let's head to the Floo as I imagine both Remus and Sirius will be coming over." Joyce said before walking out of the room with Harry and Buffy following her.
A few moments later both Sirius and Remus came out of the Floo and Sirius pulled Harry into a hug. "That was a great prank pup and I'm so happy things are different now than they were last time. Me and Moony remember everything from the last time around, and Death filled in some details for us. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that but I'm glad we got a second chance to make things right. Now we need to come up with a proper Marauder name for you, your animagus form looked great by the way" Sirius told Harry with a happy smile on his face.
"We will have to come up with ways to prank the old goat while you're at Hogwarts Harry. Joyce, Buffy, it's good to see you again." Remus said to those in the room with his normally gentle tone of voice.
"How about we have breakfast before heading back to your place for their birthday party later today." Joyce offered up, followed by heading towards the kitchen.
When the group got to the kitchen they saw a Gringotts owl sitting on the owl perch. When it saw Buffy it flew to her and landed on the table followed by offering the letter to her. Buffy took the letter and opened it to read, after reading it she spoke up. "Harry love, we are now officially married thanks to our Soulmate bond as Death said would happen. Ragnok asks that I come in with you to claim my Lady Potter ring tomorrow at 10 AM at the local Gringotts Branch where he will meet us and for me to send a reply if that time won't work. He also sends his congratulations on our bonding. I imagine you got a letter just like I did, we can meet up with him to pick up the rings tomorrow." Buffy said before laying the letter on the table and pulling her new husband into a kiss for a few moments before speaking again. "It's good that our Soulmate status will be cloaked until Hogwarts. That will give us some time to adjust to things here before we get into the thick of it." Buffy told the boy she loved with all her being.
"Yeah we can swing by the bank tomorrow and the good news is that the rings are enchanted to be able to be hidden so no one will see them. With your Soulmate status being cloaked, it means no one will know you are Lord and Lady Potter until you get sorted. Also congratulations to you both, even before today it was easy to see that you two would end up together. Young Harry had the same look in his eyes that James did whenever he talked about Lily while we were at Hogwarts." Remus commented after he sat down at the table for breakfast that Joyce was cooking.
"Harry, what happened to your hair?" Sirius asked, looking at his godson in confusion.
"Didn't death tell you that I'm a male Veela? Instead of getting Silver streaks in my hair as Buffy got, I got my mom's hair color instead." Harry explained to Sirius, wondering if Death might have left some things out when he talked to Sirius and Remus.
"Huh, oh yeah right your grandfather told us about that. This is great news Harry as you will be able to get so many girls into broom cupboards." Sirius told Harry with a happy smile on his face.
"The only girls that will be joining Harry in a broom cupboard will be ones that I bring in there to join us." Buffy said while giving Sirius a sweet and innocent smile while her tone of voice was pure Slayer threatening.
"Right, you're scary you know that." Sirius told Buffy as he shivered, if he was in his dog form he would have had his tail between his legs. "Anyways Harry you will be able to keep your status as a Veela hidden as no one back in Britain knows what you look like beyond that Halloween night and artists sketches in the Daily Prophet. So we can say your mother's traits came in as you got older, for your friends at school we can just say it is a way of honoring your mother. We can tell the Tonks the truth about you being a Veela as they are bound by oaths of secrecy when they arrive in a few hours." Sirius said coming up with a plan of action with his prankster mind.
"Other Veela won't be able to sense that Harry is one also until after his third change when he turns 13, and once found out the leaders of the various Veela colonies will make sure their members keep his status a secret from others." Joyce added to the conversation as she started placing plates of food on the table.
"God it's going to suck having to wait five years until we can have sex again Harry." Buffy complained in her little girl voice that was full of teenage angst. Her comment had both adult Marauders choking on their food.
"We can still cuddle and kiss though." Harry told Buffy after pulling her into a hug and giving her a kiss on the lips.
"Aww you're so cute together and I'm glad I don't have that problem like you do Buffy. Just do me a favor and don't make me a grandmother as soon you turn 13." Joyce told her daughter with a teasing smile on her face as she looked at her daughter and her boyfriend.
"Bloody hell it's going to take time to get used to hearing you two talk like that, but you will have to be careful around others who don't know." Sirius said to his godson and his new wife.
"Of course you don't mother, not with you sleeping with your friend Nadia." Buffy commented back at her mother who ignored her.
"Harry as Lord Potter you will be entitled to your own private quarters in the castle along with Buffy joining you as Lady Potter, you also would be entitled to them from your Soulmate status too." Remus added to the conversation at the table as they were eating breakfast.
"That is good to know, this way me and Buffy can have a place to ourselves in the castle." Harry replied to Remus. He was glad to hear about that as it meant he and Buffy wouldn't have to worry about their roommates.
"It also means we can share a bed while we are at Hogwarts like we will be here too. I refuse to sleep without you by my side every night Harry." Buffy told Harry followed by kissing him. She knew they would already but her voicing it was meant for the others to know as well.
"Of course love, I can flame to your room every night or bring you over to mine so it won't be a problem." Harry replied to Buffy while also letting the others in the room know they couldn't really stop them.
"Speaking of that, I would love to see your Animagus form Harry." Remus spoke up, he knew Harry was a Royal Gryphon already and was fascinated by it.
"You can see it later tonight because I need to go through a rebirthing with the Invisibility Cloak tonight." Harry informed Remus as Harry wanted to get that done right away as it could come in very handy.
"Why would you need to do that pup?" Sirius asked Harry, that part was never explained to him.
Harry started telling Sirius, Remus, and Joyce the truth about the legendary Deathly Hallows, what he did with the Elder Wand along with the perks he gained, and what Death said about doing the same with the Cloak along with what he will gain from doing so.
"That is an impressive story Harry and your wandless magic being undetectable will be a huge bonus to pranking while at Hogwarts as well as setting things up if needed while covering your tracks." Sirius told Harry with a huge prankster smile on his face.
"What about the Elder Wand though? You already absorbed it, and yet there is one here with Dumbledore so how does that work?" Remus spoke up wondering how such a thing will be handled.
"Death sent a message along with the memories to us, the wand the old goat has is now just a normal wand as of today. Death also tinkered with Dumbledore's mind so he thinks it's just old age for why he isn't as powerful with it as he was before." Harry told Remus, answering his question.
"Which is good because something like that shouldn't be in the hands of such an evil man." Buffy added to the conversation at the table, with the others agreeing with her knowing what they know now.
After that, they chatted about other things. Harry found out that Sirius had no memories of his time in Azkaban but he knows he was there for 13 years. Remus knows he was married to Dora and had a son with her but he doesn't remember anything of their relationship. They told Harry and Buffy that Death removed those memories so it wouldn't negatively impact their lives when they got their memories back. Joyce was happy to hear about the changes that will be made for Dawn to be born instead of just being made by the monks. Both Joyce and Buffy will miss her while they are here in this world.
After breakfast was over and kissing Buffy goodbye, Harry flamed back to his house taking Sirius and Remus with him. He had to shower and get dressed as they had a joint birthday party coming up. At the party will be Joyce's lover Nadia and the Tonks family along with Harry, Buffy, Joyce, Sirius, and Remus.
