"Merlin's sweaty ball sack! I hate this sodding school. Every bloody year something happens. EVERY! BLOODY! YEAR!" Harry swore as he stormed up the stairs of the astronomy tower. "I swear to Morgana I'm transferring next year!" He kicked up the door angrily and it bounced off the wall, startling the occupant inside, There was a bag on the floor and papers strewn about. Looking around he spotted the owner standing on the ledge of the astronomy tower, she had tears running down her face. It didn't matter to Harry that she wore Slytherin robes. All the mattered was he had to get her down from there. He looked at her long brunette hair and greyish blue eyes while he tried to recall her name. In the meantime he had to stall her. "Hey! Sorry about that," he said in a calmer voice, his anger temporarily forgotten and the situation. "I didn't mean to startle you. I'm just...having a bad day. Perhaps it's a bad year though or maybe I'm just unlucky when it comes to anything with Hogwarts. Seems to happen every year to me. What's your name?"
"Flora…," she answered softly. "Flora Carrow. Daughter of a known death eater. A fact which this school never fails to remind me of, even though my sister and I want to make our own name in the world."
"I understand that Flora. I'm Harry Potter. I'm sure you've heard of me. They won't stop writing books and articles and all sorts of junk about me for something I didn't do. Supposedly I spend my summers in my very own castle riding a unicorn and saving princesses. At least that's the popular opinion. Truth is I spend most of the summer at my aunt and uncle's. They hate me and they hate magic. Until I went to muggle school I thought my name was Freak." Flora's eyes widened as Harry looked towards the ground in shame. "When...when I was younger and did accidental magic, I was punished. Somedays, it was as simple as locking me under the stairs Other times…" Harry looked away.
"Other times what," Flora inquired with her lip trembling in fear of the answer.
"Other times, my uncle would beat me. My cousin would either laugh or join in. My aunt never hit me but she would laugh or yell at me. Tell me I was worthless…" A single tear rolled down his cheek as he dredged up the past in front of a stranger. Flora looked in shock at the stranger baring his soul to her. To the world he was a hero, but to her, he was a parallel soul.
Harry raised his arms to show that he was unarmed and slowly stepped towards her. She looked nervous as she looked at the drop to the ground and back to him. "Please come down. Please. We can talk. We can complain about life and school. I can have Dobby fetch us some snacks." Tears streamed down her face. He slowly stepped forward until he was right next to her. He held up his hand. "I don't want to lose a friend today. I've lost enough as it is." Flora nodded and held her hand down for him to take. It was soft and dainty, causing him to flush as he took it. It was at that moment she lost her balance. With seeker-like reflexes, he pulled her forward and caught her bridal style with both hands. Both teens blushed as the door slammed open once again. Harry spun around, holding the young girl in his arms only to see her twin sister enter the room and she was already angry. She quickly drew her wand and pointed at him. Holding the young woman, Harry had no chance to grab his wand.
"What the hell do you think you're doing with my sister? Put her down now you bastard!" the twin screamed, aiming her wand at him. Harry did as she said and carefully put her down and raised his hands. Flora stepped in front of him so that she was between him and her sister.
"He saved my life, Hestia," she spoke softly. "I...I was going to jump...when he came in. I couldn't take it anymore. The looks. The whispers. The hostility. He saved me from making a stupid mistake. I'm sorry." Her body shook as tears rolled down her face. Harry stood where he was, despite having the urge to comfort the young lady. Hestia's wand vanished as she shot forward and embraced her sister. Both were crying.
"What does the Golden Boy of Gryffindor want with a pair of Slytherins anyway," Hestia demanded, still holding her sister. Harry's hand ran through his hair.
"To be truthful, I...wasn't exactly looking for anyone...I was just pissed off and trying to get away from everyone. I just happened to stumble upon Flora. I'm glad I did." He let out a sigh of relief as he leaned against the wall. "I will do whatever I can to ensure that you both remain that way," he added.
"How are you going to do that? Do you plan on smuggling us into Gryffindor," Hestia inquired.
"I don't think I'm welcome there but if that's what it takes…Dobby!" With a pop a large eyed house elf appeared and began to jump up and down.
"Great Master Harry Potter sirs be calling Dobby," the elf asked excitedly. Both girls raised an eyebrow though Flora looked like she was holding back a chuckle as well.
"Sure did Dobby. I was wondering if you knew of a place where my friends could stay to keep them safe. The Slytherin house isn't very friendly to them."
"Harry Potter be needing the Come and Go room!"
"The Come and Go room?" Dobby nodded, his ears flapping as he did so.
"You needing to be going to the 7th floor. Dobby take Harry Potter and his misses."
"They aren't my misses Dobby! They're just friends!" Harry quickly explained. He then turned to the twins. "Shall we grab our stuff and go check this out?" The girls nodded before all three of them went to grab their bags and the papers that were around the room. With that the pair went back to Dobby who took Harry's hand as well as one of the girls while her twin held on. A pop later and the quartet found themselves in a hallway staring at a tapestry of some nutter and trolls in tutus.
"Harry Potter sir needs to be walking in front of dancey trolls three times and thinks about what he be wanting." Harry looked to the girls who nodded. He then thought about a safe place where the three of them could live as he walked in front of the hanging art. After his 3rd time a black door appeared on the wall across from the painting. "Master Harry be doing it! Is Harry Potter be needing anything else from Dobby?"
"Not that I know of at the moment. Girls?" They shook their heads. "I think that's it Dobby. Thank you very much. You're a great friend!" Dobby started tearing up.
"The Great Harry Potter be calling Dobby a friend! Dobby never had wizard friend before!" The bawling elf disappeared with a POP.
"So...how do you know him again," Hestia asked. Harry gave them a mischievous grin.
"Freed him from the Malfoys." Both looked surprised and one raised an eyebrow.
"That is an interesting story that we'd love to hear…"
"Though perhaps we should go inside first…"
"We're eager to see…"
"What it is...:"
"That you've thought of," they finished together. Harry chuckled thinking it had to be a twin thing because that reminded him of Fred and George. Harry opened the door and stepped inside. The twins followed shortly behind.
Inside what could be described as the common room was a pair of couches, a loveseat and a recliner. In front was a small rectangular coffee table that was spaced with the lit fireplace so that floo travel was possible..in theory. The room was decorated in a neutral black with purple accents. Off to one side was a study area, including a large table with 4 chairs and a small kitchenette. There were two doors along the back wall, both looked to bedrooms. The difference was that one had a king bed while the other had 2 queens. Inside each was enough wardrobes for the occupants, a desk for each and an attached bathroom. A pop later and each queen bed had a footlocker by it. Harry assumed his was in his room as well.
"We must say…"
"We are quite impressed…" Harry grinned and rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah well I did my best. Hopefully this will suffice."
"If you'll indulge us…"
"We are quite curious…"
"Why you made yourself a room as well," the pair inquired.
"To be honest, I have no intention of going back to Gryffindor tower just to suffer through everyone thinking I cheated my way into the tournament. Just once I'd like to have a decent year and as long as you ladies don't mind my presence, I'd like to stay." The twins girls looked to each other before looking back to him and nodding.
"That is acceptable."
"We understand your plight."
"We're not exactly welcome in Slytherin."
"Much less anywhere else."
"I appreciate it. Like I said I'm not exactly welcome in Gryffindor at the moment...not to mention Hogwarts. When I was younger I wished and prayed to get away from my aunt and uncle. Then when I turned 11, Hagrid showed up and told me I was a wizard. I thought that everything would be better…I had made friends...or so I thought...then the school goes from hating me to expecting me to save it to hating me again. At least with my aunt and uncle I knew they hated me." Harry sighed before looking up at the twins, realizing he spilled more than he meant to. He blushed. "Sorry. It probably doesn't matter."
Flora walked over and hugged him. His body stiffened in surprise. "It will be alright. You're not alone and neither are we. It's the start of a beautiful friendship…"
"As long as you don't mind putting up with the daughters of death eaters. You know...those right bastards who killed your parents. Gods...I don't see how you can even look at us…," Hestia spit dispassionately.
"You're not your parents. You're not responsible for the deeds they've done. I don't hate you for that and you shouldn't hate you for that either."
"Even if we tortured muggles? Yeah...it's happened."
"You did what you had to do to survive. I'm not going to pretend it was easy. You make the future though. You choose who you wanna be and what you wanna do with your life and not even Moldy Shorts can take that away from you. I'm glad that you're both here. I've made two new friends today when I could certainly use them." Hestia was quiet while Flora giggled at the name he had used for Voldemort.
"I'm glad you found us too," she replied happily.
"So now that you've saved us...what exactly do you plan to do with us? Do you expect us to do things for you," Hestia inquired. The look on Harry's face was one of disgust.
"Don't get me wrong. You're both attractive but I would never expect or force either of you to do something you didn't want to. I just want you two to be safe...and if possible...happy." Both girls were surprised by his answer
"What say we get settled in and relax for the night," Harry suggested. Both twins nodded. He headed for his room as the girls headed for theirs.
