HAHA I didn't forget about this one! I'm actually just about done writing it in its entirety, so I hope I can finish posting it smoothly :)

This chapter was requested by my friend. Enjoy!

Entry 108

Today was almost a disaster. And I don't just mean that in the usual, exaggerated way the nonexistent reader has been accustomed to. I mean it in the fullest sense of the word.

For a while now, the twins have been getting on my nerves. Not in the way they normally do, where I know it's just how they are, and I can brush it off. But lately they've been constantly BEGGING me to let them join Toothless and I on town chores (especially the ones that involve blasting stuff). And… I couldn't take it anymore.

Which is how the six of us ended up flying to the other side of Berk to burn some dead trees.

"Remember! Only fire when I give the signal!" I yelled.

"Right!" Tuff yelled back. "Just one question… what's the signal?"

"What's the- I've told you five times! Toothless' plasma blast!"

"Ohhhh, right. Got it! Just… how will we know it's TOOTHLESS' blast?"

Yep, this was going to be a disaster for sure.

When we got to the grove, I stopped us ahead of the trees in question. "You guys are sure you have Barf and Belch under control, right? They'll only fire when you tell them to?"

"Relax, Hiccup. It's almost like you don't trust us or something!" Ruff yelled.

I didn't reply to that. Instead, I just had Toothless take the first shot.

And a moment later, we were surrounded by fire.

"Ah! Toothless!" Toothless rolled to the right, narrowly dodging a blast, before having to quickly duck down and left to avoid another. "Woah!" I set his tail to climbing, trying to get us out of range. Unfortunately, as we tried to make our escape, a fireball managed to catch his fake tailfin. Toothless screeched, and I desperately tried to keep his flight under control, but it was futile. Whatever was in the red dye made it a lot more flammable, and rather than slowly burning like during the Red Death battle, it tore through the fabric in seconds. "Toothless!" Roaring, Toothless twisted around, catching my arm and wrapping his wings around us. A few seconds later, we slammed into the ground, and things got even worse. I felt a jolt shoot through my left leg and heard something snap. But, guessing by the lack of pain in my actual leg, the thing that had broken must have been... the prosthetic.

"Hiccup! You okay?" Tuff's voice yelled from outside Toothless' cocoon. Toothless opened his wings, revealing the twins wearing surprisingly concerned faces.

"We're sorry. We didn't mean to hit you," Ruff said as I pulled myself out from Toothless' protective grasp.

"I thought you said you had that dragon under control!" I said, annoyed.

"Well, our definition of under control is apparently different from yours." Tuff crossed his arms.

Finally released from Toothless' grip, I looked at my leg. "Great." The spring inside the metal piece had broken. That would be fun to explain to my dad…

"Wow, you're right, that is great," Tuffnut said. "You and Toothless always have matching injuries!"

I just glared at him.

Now we're back home, waiting for Gobber to fix a talfin and a peg leg. I'd have done it myself… if my father weren't so overbearing. I tried explaining that I don't need to walk when Toothless is happy to give rides, and there's these wonderful inventions called chairs, which happen to be at the forge too. But no.

I guess I shouldn't complain. There was a time not long ago when my dad didn't seem to care about me at all. I think I can handle him caring a little too much…

Until next time…

NGL that last line is kinda profound...
