With those reviews out of the way, it's time to start the chapter!
Prologue part two!
It's been two weeks since Venta and Mimosa had met, and currently, they were having another meeting. Though Mimosa felt guilty about how she asked his time, Venta made sure that she knew he didn't mind at all.
This time, Venta had used his Magic, and took her to a rather special looking place.
She saw that it was on top of a mountain. Usually, it would have taken a good deal of time to get there, but with Venta's Gravity Magic, they were able to float to the top pretty quickly, even quicker than if they had ridden on brooms.
"Venta-san, from here you can see so much~"
Mimosa cooed, looking over the entire area.
Seeing large trees in the distance, a lake, she could even see some towns if she squinted her eyes.
"It's a nice place, I come here sometimes for a little personal vacation. Not many people come here and bother you so it's a good place."
Mimosa smiled as she walked across the top of the mountain they were on.
Despite it being at the top, she didn't feel anything other than joy as she looked all around her.
She could see that even some flowers had been planted across the top.
"Flowers being here is unusual."
"Vanessa-san, a squad mate of mine said that she liked these. She comes with me sometimes as well, so she put them there~" Mimosa tilts her head cutely as Venta walks closer. "Though I don't know much about flowers, I think they're good, right?"
Mimosa bent down towards them, and placed her hand on a pink flower.
"They're pretty." Mimosa turns her eyes towards Venta, and smiles. "Also...Venta-san, I made a picnic for us...in the basket I asked you to carry for us."
"Really? That's great, I was getting hungry...and I did wonder what was in the basket..."
Mimosa watched as he placed the basket down and she got some of the food out.
Sitting before one another, they began eating as Nero popped out of Venta's hair, so he tore some off his sandwich and presented it to the cat,
"I have to admit...that I haven't ever had a meal on top of a mountain before. I'm sure Noelle would love it..."
"Noelle..."
Venta began, Mimosa nodded.
"She's my cousin, actually she's Nebra-sans little sister."
"Oh..."
Mimosa could understand why he would say something like that, or rather would be hesitant to say anything given how Nebra could be, at least when it came to Venta.
"Noelle is actually really nice...she's one of my favourite cousins. She...She has some issues and I wish that I could help her with them..."
"Issues huh...well, without knowing them, I couldn't say anything to help. But, sometimes just being there for someone, is better than anything else. So being there for someone, even if its just emotional support, can make a world of difference."
Mimosa drunk in the words, and they made sense to her.
"Yes...Noelle...no, I shouldn't say. It is her problem after all."
Venta waved his hand.
"Don't worry, it's okay. Hey if I ever meet this Noelle-san, maybe she'll tell me herself~"
"Well...I don't know, Noelle is someone that finds it...she has a wall around her...and it makes her seem abrasive...but, she really is nice once getting to know her, I'm sure you'd be good friends."
"I get it~"
Mimosa smiled as she leaned forward.
"So Venta-san, do you have any family? I'd like to meet them~"
As she spoke, his eyes drifted down.
For a few moments, he gave a genuine sad expression, something that Mimosa caught, and placed her hands to her chest.
"Oh...I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to..."
Venta raised his head, adopting a smile and waved his hand.
"No, don't worry about it. I have got a family, a chosen family~"
Mimosa lightened up, and nodded a single time.
"That sounds lovely...to be honest, I have heard of things from the Black Bulls, but when I speak to you, I can't see anything like it at all. And even if they were true, I don't think it would be bad at all, everyone is different."
Venta thought that Mimosa was definitely a unique kind of royalty.
He was glad that she was and enjoyed her company immensely.
"Yeah, the Black Bulls...definitely a unique group of people, I wouldn't change them for anything. Each of them makes me smile...or feel weirded out depending on who it is...but, they're pretty cool. Speaking of, you'll be going to a Magic Knights Squad soon enough, got any ideas yet?"
"Well...I have been looking into them, and there are some that I have been thinking about. I thought about the Golden Dawn...though I don't know if they'd accept me."
"Are you kidding? They'd be lucky to have you Mimosa-san~"
Mimosa blushed at his words, and began fiddling with her fingers, as he simply smiled at her.
But that stopped when he felt something.
A small but notable trace of Mana.
His eyes looked around, but couldn't see anything.
In the distance, a radiant pink colour could be seen for a few moments, before disappearing all together.
Later that evening, returning to the Black Bulls for the evening, Venta saw by the time he had gotten back, everyone was already either in bed, or they weren't within the base at all, so he went up towards his bedroom.
"You know, I do think there's ways for you to get out of that form Nero."
"There are, but the Magic stones aren't within our grasp."
The bird replied, but Venta shook his head.
"Not just the stones, I've heard that there could be a spell that might be able to help. I've been thinking about going to the Wizard King about it. Since he is obsessed with magic and the likes, he might know of it. I asked Captain Yami about it, but he didn't seem to know anything."
"...You don't have to go that far for me."
Nero spoke in a monotone voice, so Venta took the bird from the top of his head, and laid her in the palm of his hand.
"I already agreed to help you, you shouldn't have to spend more time in that form than you already have done. Trust me, there's a few things about Curses that I know of, and if I could get some kind of spell...maybe, just maybe it would be able to help you out. Even if it is only temporary. I'm still working on the Magic stones for you so until then I thought this would be the best way to go about it."
Hearing what he said, Nero felt happy.
She wasn't the best at expressing it, but deep inside it was clear that he cared for her.
"Even if it is dangerous..."
"My life's been rather dangerous so don't worry about it Nero. I'll bring you back to your human form, it's a promise."
The birds eyes close ever so slightly, and thinks about what he had said.
"A promise...I see, thank you."
"No need to thank me~"
Venta tilted his head as he walked to his bedroom, he could feel the Mana that was inside of it.
So when he got there, he saw Vanessa laying half off his bed, her face red from the alcohol she no doubt had drunk, so when she saw him, she grinned like a cat.
"Aah, there you are! I was waiting for you~"
She hiccupped at the end, Venta shrugged.
"Waiting for me? I'm sorry for being late, got held up with a few things."
As he said that, Vanessa smiled serenely, moving closer to the young man, and placed a hand on his upper body.
"Come on, lets go to sleep for a little while. I need a comfy body next to me or I can't sleep."
The way Vanessa said it caused Venta to lightly blush.
"Well, if it's something you need..."
"Exactly, now lets go to sleep..."
As she spoke, suddenly Gordon comes into his room.
Within his hands, is two creepy looking voodoo dolls.
One looked like Venta, and the other looked like Gordon, holding one another's hands...no, Venta saw that the hands looked to be stitched together.
To Vanessa's eyes, that only added to the creepy factor, though for Venta it felt like there was something more to it.
"As my best friend...I made these...to celebrate our years of friendship...please accept it..."
Gordon mumbled, presenting it to Venta, who chuckled nervously.
"That's...that's very nice, thanks Gordon-san."
"That's very scary..." Vanessa stretches her arms. "Ven-kuuuun~" Vanessa begins, revealing a cute smile on her face as she slurs her words due to the alcohol in her system. "Come to bed with me...I wanna sleep, and you're so comfy, Captain Dorothy always takes you..."
"Well, she is a Captain and if she asks for me then..."
"But, I want some Ven-kun time."
Vanessa jumps off the bed, as her chest bounces before his eyes, causing him to lightly blush.
"Vanessa-san..."
Before he could finish, she wrapped her arms around his neck, and pulled him closer.
"I heard you protected a royal girl, it deserves some cuddle time with me~ It reminds me of the past a bit, don't you think?" Vanessa, using her Threat Magic, wrapped Gordon up in it, and caused him to be brought out of the room. "Aah, now that we're alone..." She began the door closing behind him. "...it's time to get into the bed..." As she spoke, Venta saw someone else on the bed, so he turned Vanessa to her, seeing that Dorothy was already there. "….Not the Captain of the Coral Peacocks again! She always sneaks in here! She wasn't here a minute ago!"
Venta looked at the sleeping Captain, seeing that she didn't even make a hand movement.
It seemed to him that she simply was relaxing and didn't wish to get involved.
"As fellow witches, isn't it best to get along?"
"Well, yeah but she does this...she's crafty..."
Venta watched as Vanessa fell onto the bed. Pointing her rear end at him, he continued to blush as she got into the bed, seeing the sleeping witch dressed in nightwear, keeping modesty but showed some skin.
Her hand went up towards Venta, and without saying anything, she pointed to the side of her.
"Captain, you want me to get into bed?" Dorothy simply nodded as she turned on the bed. "Okay Captain."
Vanessa smiled as Venta took off his shirt, and pants, leaving him in his underwear only, showing off his toned body. Vanessa drunk in the form, while Dorothy was still sleeping, but she reached out, and pulled him over to the bed.
Venta landed between them, where Dorothy placed her head on his right hand side of his chest, Vanessa saw that she was peaceful.
"How come she wants to sleep with you anyway?"
"Well, in one of the Captain's meetings, I was sat next to Captain Yami as he asked me to attend, and Captain Dorothy's head accidentally fell onto my shoulder...I guess she took a liking to my shoulder from then on. Though when she won me as a card game, I was surprised she asked for me."
"Well, it seems she likes sleeping next to you...and I do too~"
Vanessa rubs her face against his own, as she begins falling asleep.
His eyes go to Dorothy, seeing that she was fast asleep on his chest.
Shaking his head, he allowed his eyes to fall and soon he drifted off to sleep...
The next day, Venta was due to meet up with Mimosa, so he had left quite early. However, for Nebra, she wasn't aware of this, so she had come to the Black Bulls base, and had an air of superiority come over her as she moves forward.
However, as she gets in close, she looks at the base, and scrunches her brows together.
"This is the Black Bulls base?" She spoke aloud to herself. "Unbecoming of someone like my commoner Black Bull...my Black Bull?! No, he isn't mine at all! I don't even want anything to do with him! I'm only offering my time as a reward for the assistance, that's all. It isn't like he's cute or anything..."
As she was mumbling to herself, Finral happened to be walking up towards the base.
He heard the last part of the conversation, and picked out words like 'reward' and 'cute' so his eyes went towards her, and he walked over towards her, adopting a charming look to his face as she looks over him.
"What do you want?"
Nebra said coldly, but it didn't deter Finral who continued on.
"So, you think I'm cute huh?"
Nebra scoffed.
"No."
Finral blinks, and looks around.
"But I'm the only one here."
"I wasn't talking about you fool. Now tell me where the handsome Black Bull is immediately...no, he isn't handsome, forget that part. Tell me where the black haired one is."
Finral furrowed his brows, before pointing to the door.
"In there."
Nebra points to the same place, before making her way by Finral.
Finral looks on awkwardly, feeling sorry for Venta.
He followed, and saw Nebra walk in, elegantly moving through the area.
Her eyes looked around, when she caught the sight of Gordon looking towards her.
She looked at his appearance, and became slightly unnerved.
"W-Why are you staring at me?"
Nebra demanded.
Gordon mumbled "Are you a new friend?" but she didn't hear him, and moved closer.
"What did you say? Speak louder."
"Are you a new friend?"
He repeated...only very slightly higher, igniting annoyance within Nebra.
"Are you making fun of me? Speak up immediately!" Gordon simply stares at her, Nebra's eyes showcase anger. "...Seriously...Fine, tell me where the black haired Black Bull is."
"My best friend isn't here."
Nebra breathes sharply through her nose.
"...What are you saying? I can't hear you!"
Gordon looks on, before bringing out the doll of Venta and him with their hands stitched together.
"I made two...one for my best friend...and one for me."
Nebra's face dropped as she looks towards Gordon.
She didn't quite heard what he said, but to her it was creepy.
She didn't like it at all.
More than that, for a few moments, Gordons Magic wisped around his fingers, which Nebra took the wrong way.
"What have you done?! Are you using some Curse Magic through this voodoo doll?!"
As she yelled, Yami came out from the back, and looked towards Nebra.
"You, Silva girl. What are you doing here?"
Roughly asking her, Nebra turned towards him angrily.
"What kind of establishment are you running here?"
"What are you talking about?"
Nebra looks at the doll, at Gordon, and jumps to a conclusion.
"Cursing my cute...my Black Bull...a Black Bull that I'm acquainted with, with this doll! This creepy guy needs to stop immediately! I saw the Magic around his hand!"
Yami blinked, looking at the doll.
"Seriously, what are you talking about?"
Asking it again, Yami genuinely was perplexed.
Nebra scowls as she turns to Gordon.
"Take the Curse off now! I command you!"
Demanding that, Gordon looks perplexed.
"I don't understand, I wasn't using my Magic to curse anything, I was using it for something else. I made this...isn't it nice?" Nebra watched as Gordon placed the dolls on a table nearby, and lightly petted both of their heads. "Best friends forever."
Nebra's bottom lip trembles, tears come to the corner of her eyes, as she snatches the dolls off of the table. She brings them to her face, her eyes going towards the Venta doll, and shakes it side to side.
"These Black Bulls have always had a weird reputation and now they've even gone as far as to do human experimentation by Cursing people with dolls!" Yami growled, as Nebra pulled back. "Don't worry my handsome...my...you, the Black Bull that I know, I'll free you of the Curse...somehow, and then we'll be together! No, we wont be together!"
Nebra turned away and began walking to the exit.
But she stopped, and pointed at Gordon.
"Stop your human experimentation! I'm onto you!"
Gordon tilts his head, as Nebra looks freaked out, and walks fast for the door.
Barging past Finral, she storms off, holding the voodoo looking doll tightly within her arms.
Yami looks baffled, and turns to Finral.
"What the hell was that?"
"Eh...I don't know, but she looked scary so...yeah."
"The Silva family, an odd bunch alright."
Gordon looks towards the exit, and murmurs "My best friend doll is gone." Yami looked towards him, and sighs deeply.
Having gone to meet Mimosa like he promised once more, Venta waited by the ice cream place, as Nero looked around the area. He and Mimosa had been able to meet for a good few times now, and the more he got to know her, the cooler he thought that she truly was.
"That Plant Magic user, what happened to him?"
"I heard he's getting interrogated, but so far nothing really has come of it. I heard that the Wizard King is also interested...speaking of, I also have an audience with the Wizard King soon Nero, he's a bit busy but promised he'd meet up with me at his earliest time."
"I see...still, are you concerned?"
Venta shrugged.
"I am being cautious anyway. What the person behind the Plant guy truly wanted, we haven't been able to discern. Someone took a good deal of measures to hide their true objectives."
"Probably, it seems difficult."
"Though even then, I'm sure that we've got some ideas on who might be behind it. There's been this group that have been causing trouble lately, and could be behind what had happened. I heard that there is someone that experiments with Dark Magic Tools to increase someone's power, remind you of the Plant guy?"
"...Dark Magic Tools, the man's power increased a good deal. If someone that had already incredible power had that boost their power...then there's no telling how strong they'd be Venta."
"It's true, but so far, it's clear it hasn't been perfected. So right now, we don't have to worry about an army of Super Mages coming in and trying to threaten the kingdom...still, it is a bit concerning, though Captain Yami knows about it, and I'll believe in his judgement and share my own thoughts with him."
"It seems you've thought quite hard about it."
As she spoke, Venta caught the sight of a young girl, around his age, with some children. He watched the red haired woman walking with the children through the area, before she suddenly dropped a bag that she was carrying.
Before it hit the floor, he stopped it mid air with his magic, and brought the bag back up towards her.
"Hey, are you alright?"
Venta began, the young woman turned to see his face.
Her eyes overlooked him, and his robes, before nodding a single time, giving off a slightly cold demeanour.
"Yes, I am. Thank you."
Venta watched as she took the bag, and continued off with her siblings.
Shrugging, he went back to wait for Mimosa when he heard "Venta-san!" coming from the right.
Mimosa came running up.
But as she did, she tripped over her own feet, and went face first towards the ground.
Wincing, Venta placed his hand out, and sent off a gravity sphere, that caught her, and began lifting her up before her face could hit the ground. Floating within the air, the young girl looked as Venta waved towards her.
"Aah, Mimosa-san! There you are, how are you?"
Mimosa smiled, albeit with a small pink redness on her cheeks as he brought her down towards him.
"I'm good! Yes, I'm very good..."
"That's good~" Venta chuckled out, but then stopped when he felt someone coming. "It seems you didn't come alone, Mimosa-san."
"I didn't..." Mimosa seemed perplexed, but then she saw her brother coming in. "Ooh no, I thought that I had lost him." Venta smiled as Kirsch came over. "What do you want?"
Hearing the tone, it was so funny to Venta to see Mimosa go from sweet to sour when it came to her brother.
"Mimosa! I saw that you were going with this fiend! What business do you have with him?"
"We've become friends, that's all."
Kirsch thrusted his hand to Venta, and cherry blossoms began to form.
"Nonsense! Mimosa! You can't go around with this...with this commoner!"
"It's funny you call me that when you don't know my status."
Venta replied in a calm manner, perplexing Kirsch.
"What do you mean?"
"How do you know I'm a commoner? I could be a noble, or royalty."
Mimosa's lips curled upwards, seeing how Venta had a playful tone.
But, it also did make her wonder if he was either of those, if he was a commoner.
It didn't bother her whatever he was, as she was enjoying getting to know him more and more.
But it did play on her mind and made her curious.
"I would have seen you if you were either while growing up!"
"Not necessarily, I mean can you say you know every single noble in the kingdom? Every single royal in the kingdom? I'm willing to bet you couldn't possibly know all of them. Perhaps the royalty, but not the nobles. There's a good few, can you say you know them all?"
Bringing up a good point, Kirsch looked on.
He...didn't know if he could say that for a certainty he did know them all.
"W...Well, are you a commoner?"
"Hmmm, I'll leave that to your imagination~ Though you shouldn't judge people by appearances you know?"
Kirsch scowled at him, and angrily pointed at him.
"You are a rough man! No beauty at all! Stay away from Mimosa!"
Mimosa sighed, as she put her foot down.
"No big brother, you please leave now."
Kirsch looked devastated, and turned his head away from them.
"My little sister would rather be with someone else, a commoner no less, than spend time with her big brother! It is such a hard thing to swallow! Mimosa, am I not beautiful enough for you? What's wrong little sister?"
While Kirsch ranted, Venta turned to Mimosa.
"Wanna go while he's at it?"
"Yes please."
Venta and Mimosa turned and walked quickly away from the area as Kirsch continued on his ranting and ravings.
Moving further into the city, Venta and Mimosa walked quietly together.
"Venta-san, I'm sorry that I keep asking to meet you. I'm sure you must be busy with your Magic Knight duties."
"Well...I guess I've got a few things going on, but I like hanging out with you. Gives me a good break from the constant fighting. You know they say that all work and no play makes you dull, or something like that. I like having fun, and it's fun being with you~"
Mimosa smiles brightly.
But then she pauses, and looks to the side.
"So Venta-san, what do you want to do?"
"Well, you haven't view me training yet, and you wish to do, right?"
"Yes...I'd like to see a real training session."
"Then, I'll ask around the squad and see if anyone's free for a training session."
"Would it be okay?"
Venta nodded his head.
"Yeah, it should be fine. Don't see why it wouldn't be."
Replying like that, Venta went to walk with Mimosa away…
When he heard a small "Don't do that!" cry coming from an alleyway close by.
"Who was that?"
Venta shrugged, and began walking over together with Mimosa.
Cutting through the alleyway, they got to another side of the street, seeing the same red haired young woman with her siblings, and a Magic Knight that had just knocked some of the stuff she had onto the floor.
Mimosa looked at him, and shook her head.
"How awful."
"I know, being a higher status doesn't mean you have to do things like this."
Mimosa nodded.
"I agree...people are people, no matter what status."
Venta knew there was a reason he liked Mimosa.
The Magic Knight looked at the red haired girl, and scowled.
"Watch we're you're going brat!"
The rough Mage, Venta could see he was from the Purple Orca squad, scoff at the girl.
Said girl lowered her eyes, and moved to pick up some of the stuff, when her little brother yelled at the Magic Knight.
"You're no Magic Knight! You're a bully!"
The Magic Knight paused, and turned to the boy.
"What did you say kid?"
"You're a bully, leave my sister alone!"
The Magic Knight didn't look pleased, as his elder sister saw the man's hand light up.
"Wait, don't harm my brother!"
She yelled, but the Magic Knight laughed.
"You shouldn't interfere with your betters brat!"
"Marco!"
The older girl cried, as Mimosa gasped.
"Venta-san we..." She turned to Venta, but saw he was already gone. "Venta-san?" She looked around, until she heard a growl. She looked to see Venta had appeared behind the man, grasping his wrist and held it away from the child. "That's a relief..."
"Mimosa-san, check on the people here for me okay?"
Mimosa nodded, as Venta pushed the Purple Orca member away.
Mimosa took the boy, and the others back a small bit, while Venta stared at the man.
"Tch, Black Bull trash, what do you want?"
"Leave."
"Haha! Yeah right! As if trash!"
"Then I'll report you. I'm sure that the Wizard King wouldn't be pleased to see you abusing his people for something so petty like bumping into you. So I'd advise you to leave."
"The cheek of you, speaking to someone of my status so casually! How dare you peasant?!"
"Status or not, peasant or not, I don't really care. Raise your hand to someone, a child no less, you've given up the high ground in any argument. I'm giving you an out, so leave."
The man's face scrunched up, before his Grimoire came out.
Flying through several pages, the man's hand went out, as some wind came out, forming what seemed to be a sword. The wind blade took aim for Venta, while the red haired girl stepped forward.
"Wait, please don't get hurt for us!"
Venta turned back, smiled and then went back to the Purple Orca member.
"Have this!"
Firing off the wind blade, the red haired girl cried "No!" out…
Only to see Venta's own Grimoire flipping through pages as it hovered beside him.
A purple barrier appeared, and the wind blade hit it, then was repelled right back, curving slightly so it would miss his body as he didn't want to kill him, the blade of wind was repelled fast enough for the man to be stunned.
"Wow..."
The red haired girl murmured, Mimosa smiled gently.
He looked back, seeing the blade sticking in the ground, then he turned back to see Venta before him.
Panic came over him as Venta raised a hand, gathering purple energy.
"Apologize please."
The Purple Orca member trembled, and looked at the children and red haired girl.
His eyes went towards Venta once more, and for a brief moment, he thought he saw a...Devilish look on his face.
No, it looked as if his face had turned into something like a Devil.
He thought it was a trick of the eyes, but still seeing how Venta repelled his attack so easily, he didn't want to try and fight that.
"S-Sorry!"
"That's good. I will be reporting you still, so be good and run along. Don't bother anyone else, okay?"
"O-Okay!"
Venta watched as he ran off, so he shook his head and walked over towards Mimosa and the others.
Looking down at the child, Venta gently petted his head.
"You're brave for standing up for your big sister." The small boy smiled as Venta turned towards the girl. "Are you all okay?"
"Ah...yes, I'm...rather, we're okay. But my bags...they're..."
Venta could see that they were ripped, and wouldn't be able to hold anything in them.
So he placed his hands out, and ran his gravity magic through them all, lifting them up akin to telekinesis.
"Where do you need to go? I don't mind bringing them like this for you, or finding you another bag."
"I've taken up so much time and we're not from this place...we come from a different place, but came here for some stuff..."
"It isn't a problem with me, is it fine Mimosa-san?"
Mimosa nodded with a kind smile.
"Yes, I don't mind."
The young woman lightly smiled, and gave a thankful bow.
"Thank you Magic Knight-san...oh, my name is Rebecca Scarlet, and these are my siblings."
"Pleasure to meet you. My names Venta."
"And my name is Mimosa Vermilion."
Mimosa greeted, as they began walking away.
Meanwhile, the man that Venta had shooed away from Rebecca was stomping his feet, angrily making his way through the streets.
Anger was on his face, he didn't believe that someone like him should have to answer to anyone.
Least of all someone from the Black Bulls.
So as he was walking, it came as a surprise when a girl wearing glasses came walking up to him.
"Hey, something wrong?"
"Stay out of my way trash!"
The girl jumped back as she saw wind gathering around him.
"Talk about scary, I was only going to offer you a power boost, that's all."
The man paused.
A...power boost?
He didn't believe it.
"What are you saying?"
"That Black Bull, he did something insulting to you, didn't he? Managing to beat you without much effort?"
"Don't you dare say anything like that to me!"
"Well, you can get angry all you want at me, it doesn't change what happened here. You lost, and your pride got damaged as a result."
"So what? You're going to offer me a boost?"
The girl giggled as she skipped closer.
"It's a win win situation. I get my data, you get your revenge." The girl said before adding in her thoughts. "As petty as it might be, at least I'd be able to see more of that rare Gravity Magic that is so fantastic, so good for me~" Thinking that, she switched back to speaking out loud as the man's eyebrows narrowed at her. "So, wanna sit down and talk it through with me? I promise, you'll gain a good deal increase to your power~"
The man's pettiness couldn't allow him to lose to a Black Bull.
More than that, if he could get even stronger...then he was excited.
Making it back to her home, in a different part of the Clover Kingdom, Rebecca was astonished to see how a Magic Knight was helping a commoner such as herself.
It just didn't happen, so it didn't make sense to her.
But seeing him doing that for her, and then he brought the stuff in for her, and used his magic to place them in different places that she asked of him, then she saw him entertaining her siblings with his magic, causing things to float all around them and even pulling funny faces to make them laugh...it was so odd, but she liked that there was a Magic Knight like him as well.
"I'm sorry for taking so much of your time. Can I repay you in anyway? I don't have much money...but, how about a meal? I could cook for you both."
Rebecca asked, Venta waved his hand.
"That idiot shouldn't have tried anything in the first place, he was in the wrong. You don't have to repay us for anything, really."
Mimosa nodded.
"Yes, it was clearly only an accident, he didn't need to be so aggressive. I'm so glad that he didn't harm any of you."
Venta glanced at Mimosa, seeing how well she was able to act around someone that wasn't royalty or a Magic Knight, he truly did find her quite cute when she was doing that.
"Still, thank you again for protecting my siblings and I."
Venta shook his head.
"You don't have to thank us, we didn't do anything major."
Rebecca showed a soft smile on her face, bowing towards them.
"If there's anything that I can do...please, let me know."
"Thanks, we'll keep it in mind Rebecca-san~"
Venta replied joyfully, while Mimosa continued to smile.
"At least...tea, I'll make some tea."
"If you're offering, that's really kind of you."
Venta and Mimosa sat down at a table, while Rebecca made some tea.
"It's a nice home you have here Rebecca-san."
"It's not that nice, we couldn't afford much."
She replied, while Mimosa shook her head.
"Even if it isn't big, I feel like it is still a nice home. What's the word...lived in?"
Venta thought Mimosa was rather cute when she said that.
"That's a good way to say it. It does feel like a home. Well, they do say home is where people love you, or something like that~"
Venta smiled out, as a young girl came up to Venta, and pulled his shirt.
"Are you a Magic Knight?"
"Yes, that's right. I'm apart of the Black Bulls."
Replying to the young child in a kind voice, the girl pointed to Rebecca.
"Have you got a girlfriend? If not, big sister is single."
Rebecca and Mimosa did spit takes, while Venta looked on, blinking several times.
"Well..."
"Luca! Don't ask something like that so suddenly!"
The young girl cringed as the boy came over to Venta.
"You're really strong! You beat that bad man easily!"
"He let his guard down, it was easy to take advantage of that."
"Are you really strong mister?"
Venta lightly laughed.
"Well, I'd like to think I'm not bad~ But there's plenty of stronger people than me out there~"
Rebecca looked on, seeing Venta smiling with her siblings, and entertaining them once more with his Magic, she smiled to herself, as Mimosa watches on curiously.
"Here, your tea."
Venta and Mimosa both said "Thank you." as they took the tea and had a drink.
"It's really good~"
Venta complimented, Rebecca placed a hand to her face.
"You're being kind, it isn't that good."
"No, it really is."
Mimosa added, Rebecca gently smiled.
"Well, that's really kind of you both. So, if you're with the Black Bulls..."
Her eyes went to Mimosa, who waved her hand.
"Venta-san and I are friends, I'm not a Magic Knight just yet, but Venta-san is showing me different things about being a Magic Knight."
"That's really nice."
Mimosa nodded.
"Yes, Venta-san also saved me from this man that had Plant Magic, since then we've become friends, good friends even."
They then continued to speak for over an hour, getting to know one another even more.
As they did, Rebecca could see that whatever her siblings asked, or wished for from Venta, he didn't hesitate to do it, or give them the answers. Even telling them experiences of him being a Magic Knight, it was a joy to see a Magic Knight that was so open.
But then Venta then turned to Mimosa, seeing that Rebecca seemed to need to go somewhere, by the way that she checked the time.
"So are you ready to go Mimosa-san?"
"Oh yes, I'm ready when you are Venta-san."
The pair stood up, and bowed to Rebecca and her family.
"Thank you for the tea, it was delicious."
"Yes, it really was. Thank you again."
Rebecca shook her head as she also stood up.
She looked at her siblings, and then looked towards Venta.
"So...erm, my brothers and sisters seem to like you Venta-san...if you have time, maybe you could...come back sometime?"
"Sure, I'd love too~"
Hearing that, Rebecca smiled joyfully.
"I...I thank you, thank you very much."
Venta waved his hand as he and Mimosa walked to the door.
"Goodbye everyone, see you all soon~"
"Yes, goodbye~"
Venta and Mimosa walked out of the door after exchanging their goodbyes.
As they left, Rebecca felt a small smile appearing on her face, glad that she met a nice Magic Knight.
As Venta and Mimosa made it back to the Black Bulls, they talked about various things, as they entered the building.
He saw Finral sat there, reading a book and Vanessa as well.
"Hey Finral-san, wanna train?"
Finral's face dropped, shaking side to side.
"No, I'm good!"
Venta released a breath.
"Vanessa-san?"
"Not today, but I'll wash your back if you like?"
Giving a flirtatious smile on her face, she sent a wink in his direction.
Venta chuckled awkwardly as Nero looks towards Vanessa who curiously looks back.
"It seems that the Captains not back yet either, and I can't sense Luck around..."
Mimosa tilted her head as she pulled closer.
"I don't mind waiting Venta-san."
"Great, then we can wait. The Captain shouldn't be too long."
They sat together, as Vanessa came moving closer.
"I'm Vanessa Enoteca, nice to meet you~"
Mimosa smiled, bowing her head.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Mimosa Vermilion."
"I know, I heard all about you, this knight in shining armour came to save you, didn't he?"
Mimosa's cheeks turned slightly red, as Vanessa grinned.
"Y-Yes, that's right."
Vanessa giggled as she took swig of her drink.
"It's so nice, aah cuddles are great, aren't they?"
"C-Cuddles?!"
Mimosa blushed out, Venta released a breath as Vanessa continued.
"Yeah, it's really great. I know that I can't get through my day without a drink, and cuddling a handsome man, fortunately both are always on hand." Her hand slid onto Venta's right thigh, something that Mimosa noticed, as did Nero. "Don't worry, I'll teach you many things Mimosa-chan, okay?"
Mimosa's bottom lip trembled as she kept blushing, while Venta glanced at Vanessa who sent a wink his way.
A few hours flew by, without the Captain coming back, but he did see that Vanessa and Mimosa were developing a good friendship with one another which he found to be quite nice.
But then, Venta felt a certain Mana coming up from outside of the building a good distance, and was coming in fast.
"Geez, this guy doesn't know when to quit."
"Huh?"
Mimosa wondered, Venta stood and moved to the door.
"That guy from before, harassing Rebecca-san and her family."
"He's back? But he seemed worried before."
"He did, but something's changed, his Mana's increased."
Venta walked out, with Mimosa following.
Yawning, Vanessa did the same thing, with Finral sheepishly peaking around the corner.
They waited for the man to come, who did riding on a small wind tornado below himself.
"You think you can go around humiliating me?!"
"I did it to stop you from harming innocent people."
Replying like that, the man didn't accept it, and raised his hand.
"Wind Creation Magic, Piercing Blades!" From all around him, blades of wind appeared, and aimed towards Venta. "No Black Bull speaks down to someone as great as me!"
Vanessa rolled her eyes.
"Geez, this guys full of himself. Ven-kun, finish him off so we can go back to cuddling~"
Venta gave her a curious look, as Mimosa saw the man shoot his wind blades towards them.
Responding, Venta clapped his hands as his Gravity Magic flowed around his hands.
"Gravity Magic, Heavy Spheres!"
Before all of them, purple gravity spheres appeared, acting almost as shields as the intense gravity caused the wind blades to slam into the ground as soon as they hit the spheres. Even the winds couldn't resist the immense gravity concentration, and rendered harmless towards all of them, something that Mimosa was thankful for.
"Venta-san, do you think it is the same person that powered up the Plant user?"
Mimosa asked, seeing the clear difference in power from before.
"Seems so...but from what I can tell, he doesn't seem to be as powered up as the Plant Magic user."
"But why would they power him up if it wasn't as much as before?"
"Who knows, maybe it's to test which power up would be best. As the last one caused that Plant guy to lose a good sense of himself, this guy seems to have his senses, but the power up isn't as great."
Venta shot off from the ground, propelling himself through the air with his gravity making him near weightless.
The man with Wind Magic turned his hands towards Venta, shooting off several blasts of condensed air for him.
However, before they could reach him, Venta danced within the air, moving swiftly, and avoided all of the attacks, before getting up close to the man's body.
Responding to that, the man cupped his hands.
"Wind Creation Magic, Lions Bite!"
From his magic, wind teeth accompanied by what looked like a lions jaw appearing in the air, and began shutting around Venta's form.
Before they fully could close, Venta raised his hand and created a sphere of Gravity within his hand.
"Gravity Magic, Repelling Force!"
From the sphere, a shockwave of gravity released. The jaws and teeth that went to chomp down all were repelled with incredible force, blasting the winds apart, as well as slamming hard against the man's body so hard that he was slammed down towards the ground, shattering the earth around him as he tried to block the impact with his winds, but they weren't enough to fully protect him.
Bleeding from the impact from his head, and having a cut across his forearm, Venta flew down as the man began pulling himself up.
"D-Damn you...I wont be beaten by you!"
"Attacking me for stopping you, then you using whatever it was to power you up, just to fight me seems..."
"Quiet! I am of great birth, you are lowly and nothing! I am superior!"
Vanessa rolled her eyes as she stretched her arms.
"Geez Ven-kun, this guys quite arrogant."
"Yes...seems so."
The man didn't look happy about being talked about, so he allowed his magic to flow around him.
"Wind Creation Magic, Killing Sword!"
Compressing the winds together, he created a giant sword in the air made out of wind.
Venta did feel some power behind it, but he knew that most of the Black Bulls could still take this guy down so he knew he'd be okay.
Charging up his Magic, Venta aimed his hand down, and caused the gravity to swell around him.
"Gravity Magic, Crushing Sphere!"
Summoning the gravity into a sphere, he shot it down as the man shot off his sword.
Connecting in the middle, they clashed for a few moments, before the sphere broke through and slammed hard into the man's body. The excess gravity broke through and caused the man's body to be buried within a large hole that formed around him thanks to the gravity.
Due to the attack, and the shock, the man passed out.
Returning to the ground, Venta stretched his arms.
"Seems like it was done."
Vanessa smiled, moving closer.
"Seems so Ven-kun, now how about a reward~?"
Mimosa blinked at the tone she used, how seductive it was.
But then Nero came out of his hair, and looked Vanessa directly in the eyes.
Looking back, Vanessa furrowed her brows.
"Sometimes, when the bird looks at me, especially when I try and get close to you Ven-kun, I feel like she's annoyed with me."
Venta looked up to see Nero looking down towards him, causing him to adopt a smile on his face.
As they spoke, Yami happened to appear. His lazy look went between the three of them. Seeing Vanessa content with just hugging him, Mimosa and Venta spoke to one another. Smirking to himself, he decided to have his own kind of fun.
"Are you finished flirting with the royal girl yet?"
Venta did a spit take as Mimosa's cheeks burned red.
"Captain! I wasn't flirting with anyone!"
"If you say so, though I'm sure that if you did, Vanessa would be fine with it."
Venta's face turned more embarrassed while Mimosa looked on curiously. Vanessa continued to smile as she placed her head on his shoulder affectionately.
"That's...Captain, this has nothing to do with such things! Didn't you see the battle?"
Yami showed a smirk on his face.
"Felt it, seems like it's been taken care of. Damn idiot coming into my place and causing a mess! I'll kill him." Mimosa face dropped while Venta quietly spoke to her to relieve her of her worries. "Now that's done, there's a dungeon that I'd like you to explore that's near a village called Hage."
Venta furrowed his brows as he thought about what he said.
"Hage...if I'm right, that's on the outskirts of the kingdom, isn't it?"
"Yeah, go and explore it for me. I trust in you to accomplish it. Seems like it could be a bit of trouble, and because it's far out...it's best if someone checks it out. The nobles get all...well, I don't have to tell you how they get visiting those parts of the kingdom. Best if it is dealt with quickly."
Mimosa looked on, and despite how casual Yami was being, it was clear that they had a good bond together. That Yami trusted Venta, and Venta as well placed trust within Yami.
"Then I'll leave tomorrow Captain and see what activity is going on there."
"Right...then I'll leave you to continue flirting."
"I wasn't flirting!"
Snapping at Yami, he laughed as he watched off.
Vanessa's eyes went towards Venta, who smiled back her.
"Aah...no way, that means you'll be gone for a few days."
"I'm sorry Vanessa-san, I'll be back soon. I promise."
"Well, if you're going tomorrow, then lets have a drink later on~"
"Sure, we could-"
"Great, then Charmy can cook for us. I've got to go and prepare, see you both later~"
Vanessa turned back to the Black Bulls and walked off, grabbing Finral by the collar so Venta and Mimosa could have alone time.
His eyes then turned towards Mimosa.
"It's getting late, I'll walk you home."
Mimosa lightly blushed, nodding "Thank you." a single time before leaving together with him.
As the sun was setting, walking towards the residence of Mimosa. Across the streets, lit up by various lights around them. Magical energies were flying into the sky, and lighting up the night sky brightly.
"So Venta-san, you're going to Hage tomorrow?"
"Yeah, seems so. I'll probably be gone for a few days, depending what's going on over there. I shouldn't be gone all that long though."
Venta replied as Mimosa looked over Venta's form.
Seeing how he looked, she definitely felt the sense of responsibility coming from him.
It was clear he took the missions he got from Yami very seriously, even if he acted casual about it.
"Your Captain, he must have a lot of trust in you to send you in alone."
Venta thought about it, before smiling.
"Captain Yami wishes to push us, and make us grow even stronger. But if he thinks it is worth the effort, then I'm sure that it is. He might seem brash, but Captain Yami knows what he's doing."
"You respect him a lot, yes?"
Venta didn't even have to think about.
"Definitely, he's a great man. Wish he didn't sell me and paid me back on time..." Mimosa giggled at that. "...but yeah, he's a very dependable kind of guy, that I'm happy to follow into any kind of battle, and I'm sure that the others in the Black Bulls are that way. I know that the Black Bulls seem to be a rough group to most...but we really do care for one another. We just have weird ways of showing it."
Mimosa could see that.
Through her interactions with Venta, it was clear that the Black Bulls were a unique but interesting and strong group, at least from what she saw.
"Venta-san, I think it's clear to me that you are a person who cares deeply about your squad."
"Yeah...they're unique people, but I'm glad I know them~"
Venta smiles as he and Mimosa continue walking back together.
As they did, Venta notices Nebra's Mana signature coming in closer.
However, he could see that she seemed focused on something else.
"My Black Bull, I'll release you from the Curse, I promise...even if I have to...ugh, go back to that creepy guy again...I wont let any Curse take you away..."
Nebra chanted over and over again.
Venta and Mimosa watch as Nebra goes by them, without even acknowledging them.
Though Mimosa saw the creepy doll that she had, and looked horrified.
"Venta-san...why did she have a voodoo doll of you?"
Venta knew it was Gordon's. But he didn't know why she had it.
"Eh...I don't know, I hope she isn't studying Curses."
Mimosa giggled at the joking tone that he used.
Soon, they came to Mimosa's home, and he stopped just outside.
"This is it then, I'll be gone for a little while...but, I'll contact you when I'm back."
Mimosa gently smiled, nodding a single time.
"I'd really like that...though Venta-san, can I ask for one thing? Is it okay?"
"Sure, ask away."
The young girl smiled, and bowed her head.
"Then Venta-san...I have my Grimoire ceremony in a few weeks...I'd love it if you came...y-you don't have to if you don't wish to but I thought...it would be nice..."
Seeing how Mimosa looked shy and sheepish, he thought that it was rather adorable.
Venta lightly smiled, and petted her head, causing Mimosa to lightly blush.
"I'll be there, I promise."
Mimosa's face curled upwards, her smile bright as she met eyes with him.
"I can't wait, Venta-san."
"Me neither."
Mimosa and Venta smiled together, as they walked away into the night.
Dropping Mimosa off, Venta went walking back towards the Black Bulls base, when he was suddenly stopped by a tall young woman with short hair, and wearing a white top as well as white shorts.
"Sol-chan, what a surprise, what brings you out here this late?"
"I was looking for you, your Captain said you were in the Vermilion area, we're going on a mission tomorrow."
Venta blinked.
"Actually, I do have another mission that I've got to go on tomorrow, going towards Hage."
Sol furrowed her brows.
"Oh...can't you squeeze this one in? Sis wishes for us to do it. I'm not sure why as I don't need any help from you."
Venta gave her a curious stare.
Despite the fact she said it as if she didn't care, it seemed that she seemed slightly disappointed.
"Well, I might be able to squeeze it in the morning." Sol lifted her head, as Venta moved closer towards her. "So, is it okay to work with me Sol-chan?"
"C-Calling me Sol-chan so casually..."
"Well, we have known one another for a good while, and tend to be paired up together on missions when our squads get together, isn't it only natural?"
"W-Well..." Sol looked slightly embarrassed as Venta smiled towards her. "Tomorrow morning, at five, you best be up!"
"Will be. Should I meet you somewhere?"
"I'll meet you at the Black Bulls base. It's easier that way."
"Because you'll be embarrassed if I came to the Blue Rose Squad, and told some stories about you~"
Playfully bantering with her, Sol looked so embarrassed, Venta thought it was a cute side to her.
Sol huffed, and moved her head to the right.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
Sol began walking off as Venta waved.
"Night, Sol-chan."
Sol turned her face back to him, showcasing some embarrassment, before turning back and walking away at a quick pace.
As she did, Venta saw Nero come out of hiding from top of his head.
"Seems like you'll be busy."
"Yeah, seems so. Though we'll be going to Hage, we've not been there in a good while."
"Yes, that's right. Can we stop off there, and see the First Wizard King statue?"
Venta lightly laughed, petting the birds head as he began walking away.
"Of course Nero, we'll be there anyway so lets pay some respect to the First Wizard King."
"Thank you."
"No need to thank me~ Now it's time to go to bed, seems like it's going to be a hectic few days~"
Nero's face curled upwards as they walked away.
As they did, a flash of pink could be seen a good distance away.
As it appeared, Venta paused as he looked around.
For a few moments, he felt something...
But it soon disappeared, as did the pink.
Furrowing his brows, he continued on, preparing himself for the next mission.
"Geez, that wind guy wasn't able to produce the results I wished for..."
Letting out a breath, a young woman in glasses who's name is Sally paced back and forth as she stared at complex formulas written down.
As she did, a pink haired woman came walking up.
The girl in glasses turned her eyes towards her, and tilted her head.
"Say, wanna be part of my experiment?"
Saying it excitedly, Sally waved towards the pink haired girl.
The pink haired girls eyes shot for her, causing her to flinch.
"Guess not." The pink haired girl began walking away as Sally called out to her. "So what did you do today? I could've sworn I saw you heading in the same direction as me to the city." The girl didn't answer as Sally tilted her head. "Well, I know what you were doing anyway~ But darn, the experiment didn't last that long...guess it's back to the drawing board~ Venta-kun, I'll get to study you yet!"
Giddy at her thoughts, Sally continued on with her experiments.
But, in the back of her mind, she wondered what was going to happen next, and what the pink haired girl was truly up too...

So this chapter expanded a bit more on some relationships, while also dealing with Sally who seems quite keen on experimenting on Venta's Magic. Venta also met Rebecca this chapter, along with her siblings, and spent some more time with Mimosa, even promising to go with her when she gets her Grimoire. Venta even briefly met up with Sol and they share, an intriguing relationship with one another.
Also, thanks to everyone that voted! It seemed that pretty much nearly everyone was for female Asta and Yuno, while it seemed split on Luck. So the former two are in, as for Luck I'll leave it another chapter.
