With those reviews out of the way, it's time to start the chapter.
The Grimoire Ceremony!
It had been a hard time for Nebra. She had been going through quite a lot of things, and now she was going to get answers no matter what.
So she walked through the doors and came face to face with several Black Bulls, Vanessa, Charmy, Finral, Gordon and Yami. It seemed the others weren't around.
"So the Princess is back, what do you want?"
Yami demanded, so Nebra fixed him a stare.
"My Black Bull...a Black Bull I'm acquainted with is apart of this...weird squad and he has been missing in action for over a week, and I know you know where he is. So if you'll tell me, then I'll be on my way."
No one said anything.
They didn't know how she was going to react.
Though Gordon had told her several times, because he mumbled, she kept saying she didn't understand and that he should speak up.
Charmy came up, and presented food.
"Wanna eat together?"
Nebra looked at the food, and admittedly it did look delicious.
But she wouldn't admit that openly.
"No, I have already eaten."
Saying it in her own Nebra like way, Charmy tilted her head and then shrugged, going back to eating her food.
Nebra's eyes shoot towards Finral.
"You, where is he?"
"Eh...well, I think that...erm..."
Nebra scowls, and turns towards Vanessa.
"Are you going to tell me where he is?"
"I'm..."
Vanessa didn't know what to say, believing that she was quite intimidating when she wished to be.
Nebra sighs, and shakes her head towards Yami.
"You're the Captain, tell me where he is."
Yami releases a breath.
Staring at Nebra, he could see she was very serious.
"He's in a village called Hage."
Nebra blinked.
"Hage…?"
"It's in the forsaken realm."
Immediately, jogging her memory, her eyes became sunken, her face looked deathly pale.
More than that, the Black Bulls saw mist leaking off of her form, and she looked to be quite scary at that moment in time.
"…What?"
Her voice laced with uncaring and yet abject worry at the same time.
"Yeah, that's where he is right now."
Yami replied in his usual nonchalant kind of way.
Nebra took in several sharp breaths, and thought about what he had said, but her mind kept going towards Venta, and being in the forsaken realm, she was extremely worried, as a royal she had a very different understanding of what the realm was like and what could be happening there to him.
"And you didn't think to check if he was okay?!"
Yami shrugged.
"He's strong enough to look after himself. Didn't see the need."
"Seriously...t-that's fine, because I was planning to go to Hage anyway!"
Nebra stated as she held up her face, with a dignified expression on her face.
Though it was unconvincing to some.
"So, are you going because he's there?"
Vanessa asked, Nebra held up her face, shaking her head several times in denial.
"No, n-not because he is there or anything! It isn't like I'm worried about what those people might try and do to someone so handsome! Nothing like that at all!" Nebra huffed and stormed out, only to come back a few moments later. "By the way, I don't have anything for him. Is that understood?"
[Okay.]
The Black Bulls replied in unison.
Nebra looked between all of them, seeing that no one was saying anything else, before she turned her neck away.
"...Ooh the forsaken realm...someone as royal as I am going there...but I have to go, he could be captured...being tortured...he, he's probably shouting out my name to save him from such a wretched place! Don't worry my handsome Black Bull, I'm coming for you! I'll save you from those people!"
Determination surged through Nebra, as she turned heels, and began running away.
But she came back a few moments later, and showed a calm demeanour.
"I don't care about him by the way. Not one bit. Understood everyone?"
Nebra then turned and rushed out of the building as fast as she possibly could.
Vanessa snickers "She seems like she has to confirm that to even herself each time she says something kind about Ven-kun." while Yami wishes Venta well with Nebra, and whatever was going to happen with that next.
"Captain, why, why did you tell her?"
Finral asks, Yami shrugs.
"I didn't think she'd actually go."
"Still, you've sent her to him now...poor Ven-kun."
Vanessa sighs, hoping Nebra doesn't do too much to cause trouble.
Venta made his way to Hage village, and when he arrived, he could hear Asta yelling and being excited. It brought him back, and it made him curiously excited to see what was going to happen next, so he moved through the small village, and got towards the Church.
Knocking on the door, he waited for the answer, which soon came with Asta flinging the door open.
"Venta! Marry me!"
Asta yelled as she lunged at him.
He ducked, as she went above his head.
Landing on the floor, not deterred, Venta saw Asta get up and rush to his right hand side, showing a bouquet of flowers.
"Hello Asta-san, seems you're as spirited as ever~"
"Yeah! And you came!"
"Of course~"
Asta surprisingly began acting shy, as she scratched her cheek a single time.
As she was, Yuno came out.
Though she didn't say anything at first, she was pleased to see him.
"Yuno-san, hey."
Yuno looked over the young man, before she moved closer.
"You arrived, I was...I was wondering if you were going to come."
"If I can help it, I never break a promise." Replying like that, he felt Asta clutch onto his hand. "And it seems that Asta-san is as excited as ever."
"Yes, she hasn't stopped talking about it all morning."
Yuno replied in a dry tone, something that Asta didn't appreciate.
"Hey! I haven't been speaking about it all morning!"
"Yes, you have shorty."
Asta ground her teeth in Yuno's direction while Venta smiled between the two of them.
"It's funny, despite the way they act, they really do care for each other. Nobles might have the power, but I really do like down to earth people like this..." As he thought it, he saw Asta and Yuno simply stare at one another. "Well, do you want to go now? We have a little time before..."
As Venta spoke, Asta came to his right hand side, and grabbed his hand.
"Come with me! Lets go together!"
Yuno walked to his other side, for a moment Venta felt Yuno's fingers gently brush against his hand.
"Venta-kun, we should go now."
"Hey Yuno! You don't want to marry him too do you!? Sister Lily and I have already said that we're gonna marry him!"
"I don't recall Sister Lily saying anything like that."
Asta huffed as she began dragging Venta away.
Yuno shook her head, and followed on the opposite side of Asta.
Venta could see the pair of them staring at one another hard, something that Venta found to be quite cute.
Nebra eventually found her way to the forsaken realm, and...she stuck out.
With her clothing, the way she held herself in regards of her status, it was clear she was never used to things like this. She hadn't been to such realms often in her life, and when she did she came with her family.
But now she was on her own...and she felt lost.
She had gotten directions to the area he was in, and when she arrived, she saw a village that she didn't quite understand. Seeing all of the villagers running around happy despite their supposed situation that Nebra thought commoners in this area would be in, she looked around and tried to feel him out, but she couldn't find him at all.
When she saw a local, she moved closer to them.
"You, peasant. Where is the Black Bull?"
Demanding that of a small child, said child let out a cry and ran away from her.
Her eyebrow twitched, as she looked left and right.
"Seriously..."
Nebra looked annoyed.
More than that, the more she spent within the forsaken realm, the more she really didn't like it at all, and wished to leave almost immediately.
"A Black Bull did you say?"
A young woman's voice spoke up.
Nebra turned to see that it was Lily.
"A Sister..."
Nebra began as Lily moved closer.
"Yes, that's right. I am Lily, a Sister of the Church of Hage. Did you say you were looking for a Black Bull. Could that be Venta-san?"
Nebra was surprised that someone she deemed as a peasant would know Venta like that.
Though she wasn't sure how far the extent of their relationship would be.
"Y-Yes, that's right. I am searching for him. I have come to...support him, yes, that's right."
Lily didn't really believe her, but Lily didn't believe that Nebra was bad so she explained.
"Well, he went ahead with the others to the Grimoire tower, and I stayed behind to take care of some duties. But, I am heading there now, would you like to come with me?"
Nebra furrowed her brows.
But ultimately, she began nodding slowly.
"I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if I did follow you. Lead the way."
Nebra thought she'd never say something like that to someone from the forsaken realm.
But for this time, she had to do that.
So she walked together with the Sister, and went towards the tower the ceremony was going to be taking place in.
As she did, she felt Venta close by so she walked away from the Sister to go and find him.
Walking around the building, she saw an old man looking towards a far off Venta who was looking towards him, and from her perspective, it looked as if he was going to launch a spell off towards him, when it was more innocent than that.
Venta had sensed her before she appeared, so as she did appear, his eyes went towards Nebra, seeing that she was glaring at someone.
"I wont let you!" Nebra brought out her Grimoire, and pointed her hand towards the old man. "Mist Restraining Magic! Mist Spider Binding Thread!"
Venta watched as Nebra thrusted her hand forward, sending spider like web of mist towards her target. Venta turned to see she was going to attack the old man who was going to perform the ceremony.
When he saw Nebra attacking, the old man began sweating and then ran away as he yelled "Please don't attack me!" Venta sighed, and got between them, creating a dome of Gravity Magic before him to block the attack all together.
"Nebra-san, what are you doing?"
Nebra blinked as she looked towards Venta.
"My dear...my Black Bull...you!" She snapped at the end. "That man was going to attack you!"
"No, he wasn't. He was going to send a signal to the sky to start the ceremony. I was just discussing it with him, that's all."
Nebra looked stunned as her eyes went towards the old man who was continuing to run away.
"It was just a signal?"
"Yes...but what are you doing here?"
"I...I came here because...I heard you were in danger! This place is no place for people like me or you! This place is very dangerous, filled with thieves and, and people that might try and harm you like crazy people, and people that are...commoners!"
Venta exhaled slowly, trying to work out what was going on inside of Nebra's mind to believe such a thing.
"That's...quite the imagination that you have there Nebra-san."
"That's how this part of the world works, the forsaken realm is not a place for us to mingle. Now I suggest that we leave and head back to the noble realm where we can have a bath together."
"So we can do what together?"
Venta asked, Nebra coughed and fixed her words.
"So we can separately have baths, that's all."
Venta gave bemused eyes.
But a thought came to him, so he asked her directly.
"By the way, are you going to the ceremony back in the noble realm?"
"For Mimosa?"
"Yes, and for your sister, Mimosa-san told me that her cousin, your sister would be there as well."
Nebra waved a hand through her hair.
"Why would I do that?"
"Because she's your sister."
Venta expressed, Nebra furrowed her eyebrows.
"Trust me, she's not going to make much of herself even with a Grimoire."
Venta folded his arms.
"Even if she wasn't, she's still your family, and this is an important day for her. You should support her."
"I'd be the only one there from my family, the others wouldn't bother showing up."
"But that's their sisters important day."
"Ever heard of the outcast in a family? That's what she is to the Silva House."
Venta shook his head.
"Outcast or not, I might not know everything about you guys, but from what Mimosa-sans told me, Noelle-sans a kind person. It doesn't matter what your siblings do, it's what you do. Don't you care about Noelle-san at all? She's your family, just as much as your other siblings are. Think about if it was you, that was the outcast. Everyone turns their backs on you. How would you feel if no one cared enough to turn up to such an important day?"
Nebra looked surprised.
She bit her lip, unsure of what she should do.
His words brought many thoughts to Nebra, and she didn't know what to say as a result.
As they talked, they suddenly heard a crash.
Venta and Nebra looked over, seeing the old man having fallen over, and rolled down a small hill.
Venta rushed over while Nebra walked casually.
Getting before the old man, Venta saw swirls for eyes, and he didn't seem like he could concentrate.
"Geez, he's out cold. And the ceremony starts soon."
Venta tapped the man's face, but he didn't respond.
Nebra strolled closer, her eyes went towards the old man.
"What's the problem?"
"He tripped, and now is unconscious."
Nebra fixed her outfit as she walked down to the old man.
"Old man, I am Nebra Silva and I order you wake up."
Venta blinked at the young woman's words.
"Don't think that's going to work here."
"It usually works with my servants."
"He isn't your servant though."
Venta replied with a small sweat drop.
Nebra shrugged.
"Well, it seems that he'll have to wake up..." Nebra bends down towards the old man and clicks her fingers. "I am royalty, wake up immediately." Venta gave her a deadpan stare as she lifted her head. "Seems like he isn't waking up."
"Seems not."
Nebra holds her head high.
"So these people will have to wait for him to wake up to perform the ceremony..." Nebra's eyes go towards Venta. "Unless...you do it."
Venta gazed at her curiously.
"Why would I do it? We can wait until he wakes up."
"But we can't stay here! In this, this horrible place! Didn't you say you had to go and do this with Mimosa? It starts in a few hours. That circumvents things like this, commoners don't come before royalty."
"First, that isn't true. People, whoever they are, have rights as everyone else does, and no one is above another, at least in my eyes that's not the case. But at least you do bring up a good point, I do have to go and be with Mimosa-san, I did promise her after all..."
"Exactly, so do the ceremony, this old guy will wake up with one less job to do. So, lets get to it sweet..." Nebra caught herself before she said 'sweetheart' and turned her nose up. "...sweet but sour boy." Venta blinked at the semi insult as it felt disingenuous at best. "Now, we should be going."
Venta looked at the old man, seeing that he was definitely passed out, and could see that despite the injuries, he wouldn't be waking up anytime soon.
"I'll speak with some people here to see if it is okay."
"Very well."
Nebra responded as she moved to his right hand side.
Her eyes went towards his body, and ran down towards his hip area, both front and back, before Venta grunted, catching her attention. She smiled and turned her eyes away, as a small pink dusted her cheeks.
A small time later, Asta and Yuno, along with many other people from neighbouring villages were gathered in a large room with many books surrounding them. Asta's eyes looked around for Venta, but she couldn't see him.
"Where is he huh?"
Asta asked, Yuno shrugged.
"I don't know, I saw him before but I don't know where he is now."
Asta tapped her foot.
"Aah! I wanted him to see my amazing Grimoire!"
Some boys from a neighbouring village turned to Asta, and huffed.
"I do wish you'd shut up."
"Yeah, quiet peasant!"
"Yeah, we actually have a future, unlike you from Hage. You are, right? I saw you coming here before from that disgusting place."
"Pathetic, thinking they'll make anything of themselves being from Hage."
Even though they weren't that much better off themselves, they seemed to be looking down on the likes of Asta, and Yuno.
Yuno didn't pay any heed to them, while Asta scowls at them.
Lily from the sidelines waved towards Asta who seemed to be slightly dejected.
That seemed to make Asta feel slightly better.
But then lights came shining down via magic. The bright lights shined up above, where a platform had formed. Asta and the others looked up to see walking out, was a slightly reluctant Venta who could see the questioning of people with their eyes on his form.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the man who usually performs the ceremony has had to have backed out at the last moment, and I have been asked to take over."
Asta looked giddy and thrusted a hand up.
"Venta! You're really doing it?!"
Venta glanced down, seeing Asta's energetic cheer.
"Yes, that's right, I'll be conducting this. So everyone, let us begin."
Venta began, clapping his hands together, and gave a small speech to the crowd. Some held their noses up, as being a Black Bull, they didn't have the best reputations though when Venta got a comment, his eyes would shoot for them, and they'd soon find themselves being silent as they felt a cold shiver down their spines.
Others like Asta and Yuno listened intently and waited for the moment that the Grimoire's would be released.
As he spoke, Venta saw a man that held a certain level of anger on his face. His hair was hidden by a hood, though he did have a decent amount of Magic, though Venta thought he'd be able to swiftly deal with him if he was going to cause trouble.
Then the moment came as Venta moved forward to the edge of his platform.
"It's time for the Grimoire's to be released."
Venta snapped his fingers, as lights circulated all of the books on the shelves around them.
Different colours ranging from green, blue, red, and all sorts of colours all came flying up. The books with the colours wrapped around them in like an aura flew to different types of Mage's.
The two that were saying some harsh words to the girls before received their Grimoire's, as Yuno saw one appear before her.
One that was different to all of the others in the area.
Even Venta noticed it, and raised a brow.
"I knew she was strong, but to be chosen by the four leaf clover...seems like she's more special than I thought."
Murmuring that out, Venta watched as Yuno grabbed the book.
Holding it within her fingers, Yuno looked down as some jealous looks went towards her.
Some like Asta looked at the other Grimoire's flying down.
But, soon noticed that they had stopped, yet she hadn't gotten one.
Her eyes went towards Venta, who at that moment could see that she looked unsure of what to even do. She thought that she'd get one and she'd finally see what her Magic was, but not one Grimoire had come to her, and she didn't understand it at all.
"She didn't get one..."
Lily seemed so disheartened herself for Asta, as she didn't want the girl to be going through any kind of pain.
Venta still wondered what was going on with Asta.
There was something's that just didn't add up in his eyes.
With peoples eyes on her, Yuno looked between the people before she spoke up.
"With this Grimoire choosing me, I'll become the next Wizard Queen."
Saying that boldly, the two boys that said mean things scoffed at her, Asta however, despite not receiving a Grimoire, shot closer.
"You'll have to get through me Yuno! I'm becoming the Wizard Queen!"
Yuno's eyes go towards the hyperactive Asta, before turning her face away, seemingly ignoring her.
Though Asta didn't catch the hidden meaning behind why Yuno did that, Venta did and saw that Yuno looked sad for her friend, her foster sibling not even getting a Grimoire, and wished that it wasn't like that.
Soon, Venta saw the man he was watching run away as he saw Venta look over him.
Becoming more curious, he went to go and deal with him, when he felt suddenly emerging a strong Mana, one that he had felt before.
After the Ceremony finishes, Venta went to go and find the Mana that he felt.
However, after going towards the location, just before he got there, it disappeared all together.
Shaking his head, he went back to the tower to congratulate Yuno, and speak to Asta, when he saw Yuno being confronted by the same two guys that spoke horribly towards them beforehand.
"Trash from Hage, just because you got that Grimoire, doesn't mean a thing to me! I'll show you not to be so cocky as to say you're going to be the next Wizard Queen! I'll become the King before you'll ever become the Queen!"
Yuno showed an uncaring face as the man placed his hand forward. His Grimoire, having already having a spell inside, shot off intense flames towards Yuno.
Venta watched as Yuno stuck out her hand, creating an orb of wind that blocked the attack off, without the usage of her Grimoire.
"Wait, what?! Why didn't you use your Grimoire?!"
"I didn't need to use it."
The man's eyes turned angered as Venta stepped forward.
"Hey you two, leave now."
Venta called out, the two boys turned.
"Why would we listen to a Black Bull anyway?!"
"Yeah, you guys are the worst Magic Knight Squad!"
Venta chuckled as a response.
"Perhaps, but I still am a Magic Knight..." As he spoke, the area around them began to shake, like an earthquake was beginning to occur. "And you just attacked someone with your Magic, if you don't leave right now then I'll have to perform my Magic Knight duties." Continuing to speak, his Magic caused large chunks of the earth to be ripped out and float in the air, the boys who began shaking. "Now, are you going to leave and we forget about this? Or, am I going to have to become involved?"
The two boys continued to shake.
Looking between Yuno, who stopped one of their attacks easily, to Venta who was igniting fear with the release of his Magic, they turned and ran off at high speeds, leaving the pair of them alone.
"Thank you."
Yuno expressed, Venta waved his hand as the earth returned to a natural state as Venta placed it back.
"I'm sure you'd be able to handle them." Venta moved closer, his eyes going over the book Yuno had. "So even a four leaf Grimoire, that's not surprising. I thought you might be special, but seeing that confirms it for me."
Yuno looks down at her book, taking in the sights of it.
"The four leaf is special, and I wont let it go to waste."
"That's good to hear, not many get a four leaf clover Grimoire like that. I do know the First Wizard King got a four leaf clover Grimoire."
"Yes...I remember Sister Lily reading to us about that." Yuno moved closer towards the young man. "Asta...she didn't get one."
"Yes, it seems that she didn't."
"What does that mean?"
Venta hummed.
"I'm not sure, even the lowest amount of Mana, as nobles would say, commoners have would have at least a standard Grimoire. But she didn't get any. I'd have to conclude...maybe it's because she doesn't have Mana, but even then I'm not entirely sure. Though I did notice that you seemed to ignore her when she declared about being the Wizard Queen."
"I...I didn't know what to say."
Venta thought that was the case.
"Asta-san might not have gotten one this time, but there are other chances, she can come back." Venta got before Yuno, small distance apart, as his hand placed itself on her shoulder. "Congratulations Yuno-san."
Yuno's face didn't change from being stoic, but a small redness filled her cheeks.
Even if it was only slightly.
"Thank you." Yuno looked left to right, as a question came to her. "...By the way, now that I have my Grimoire...perhaps we could have a...fight sometime. Once I become stronger...I want to test my strength against the kind Black Bull."
Venta was surprised she said that.
But he smiled as he moved closer.
"That's very nice to say, and I'd definitely like to fight you once you've gotten some strong spells with you. And don't worry about Asta-san, I think that she'll come back bouncing. This wont set her back for long."
"But honestly, without a Grimoire, without Magic, can she realistically achieve any of her goals?"
Venta shrugged.
"That's not for me to answer, only Asta-san can show if she can or can't. But I wouldn't count her out yet. And if a Grimoire from here didn't choose her yet, maybe one from a different place might. There is still hope out there for her."
Yuno quite liked his words.
It wasn't giving false hope, but a realistic outlook.
And knowing Asta, Yuno was sure that this wouldn't set her back for all that long.
However, for Yuno herself, minutes after Venta had left, she was about to come under danger as a certain man with Chain Magic closed in towards her.
A small time later, Venta went to find Asta. After seeing her not get a Grimoire, it was clear that she was depressed. So he thought that he could try and make her feel better.
He found her sitting nearby the tower. Her head was pressed against her knees, his eyes drew across her, as he moved to her right hand side.
Sitting down, Venta placed a hand on her shoulder, Asta's eyes went up to meet his own.
"I...I don't get it, I didn't get a Grimoire. Why not Venta?"
Venta wished that he had the answer.
But he honestly hadn't seen anyone like Asta before.
"Asta-san, has anything happened to you?"
"Like what?"
"I mean, even young kids can use Magic even only a little bit. But you can't. Like, I've heard of some diseases that cause people to constantly absorb Mana around them, I was wondering if you think it could be that?"
Wanting to offer it as any kind of explanation for both her, and himself, he proposed that to her while she shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't think I have. I just can't use Magic."
"You're one of a kind Asta-san."
Asta lowered her brows.
"But, if I don't even have a Grimoire...I wont be able to do anything, right? I wont be able to become a Magic Knight, the Wizard Queen...Yuno, she's always been so gifted, and strong. She's going to go far, and I'm really happy for her, but me..."
Venta could hear the raw emotions she had.
Venta placed a hand on top of her head, gently stroking the top said head, causing Asta's large green eyes to go towards him.
"Even if you don't have a Grimoire yet, you can come back and try again and again."
"But what if it doesn't happen?"
Venta could understand why she would ask that.
"Then you're still the same as before. Asta-san, even when you thought you didn't have Magic, you still tried your best everyday. I saw you training, and your dream of becoming Wizard Queen, it would be the first, to my knowledge, of a Wizard anything that wouldn't have any Magic. You'd be the first ever one...and I've gotten to know you, and I know that you're still determined. Like...that day when Yuno-san was targeted, you without Magic tried to save her."
"B-But I got captured and..."
"Even if you did, the fact that you tried, I can tell you that I've met people that if outmatched, they'd not even try and they'd run away. But you didn't. You saw your friend in danger, and you charged head first. There are plenty of ways to be strong Asta-san, you just have to find it and when you do, I'll support you all of the way."
Asta's bright eyes went towards Venta who offered a comforting smile.
Tears formed within her eyes, as she jumped onto his thighs, and hugged him tightly.
He was caught by surprise, as he felt the smaller girls body press against him.
Her head laid on his shoulder, her arms draped around his body.
Venta's hand placed itself on the back of her head, and she began patting gently.
She then looked up, and grinned.
"Will you marry me?!"
Venta began laughing while she looked on.
"Asta-san, even now you're asking me that?"
"Eh? I was being serious! Will you?!"
"Haha, well we'll see Asta-san~"
Asta tilts side to side, while Venta continues to laugh.
At the very least, it seemed that Asta hadn't lost her spirit.
As Venta spent a little time with Asta, he suddenly felt the Mana appear once more, the one that he had felt before and went to track it down.
Going across a field, and further away from the area they were previously in with the tower, Venta paused when he felt Mana on the ground.
He looked down and saw before him Mana had been placed there.
Soon, he saw a hologram like appear before him.
He couldn't make out the face, and he couldn't see the pink of her hair, that she made sure was hidden within a hood.
He also saw that she had made sure that he couldn't track her either, something that he found to be rather intriguing to say the least.
Nero also popped out of Venta's hair and landed on his shoulder, staring at the hologram with intrigue.
"You were there when Sol-chan and I were attacked, with the fire magic weren't you? I presume you're apart of the group that's been causing trouble lately?"
"Give up."
Venta was surprised when she said that.
It felt so out of the blue that he had to question it.
"Give up? On what exactly?"
"Stop resisting."
Still Venta was perplexed by what was going on, and stared at the girl curiously.
"Resisting you guys? Sorry can't do that."
Replying in a calm manner, the girl placed her hands together.
"Venta, the Gravity Mage. The one who wields the power that can create or destroy."
"Well, I guess you're right, but..."
"You...should stop."
Venta folded his arms.
"Why?"
"You'll see. If you stop resisting, you'll see."
Venta glanced at Nero who wasn't sure what to make of it.
"You guys have a good deal of power, and you're using it to harm innocent people-"
"These people, are not innocent!"
Venta was surprised by the change in her tone.
Going from composed, to one that filled with hate.
"What are you after?"
Asking directly, the girl didn't respond for a few moments, then nodded slowly.
"What are you seeking?"
She replied, and asked a similar thing that Venta did.
"That's a long story."
"My story, is also long."
Venta felt like this wasn't getting him anywhere.
He wasn't sure why she was even there.
"Why did you come here? Was it to taunt me? To threaten me? To ask me something? You lured me here with your Mana, so what is it you want from me?"
Deciding that asking would be best, he waited for the answer.
"...I came to see you."
At the reply, Venta paused.
"I'm sorry?"
"...It doesn't matter."
"No, you said you came to see me...do we know each other? If you pull the hood down then..."
The hologram of the girl paused, and then shook her head.
"This is your warning. Do not interfere with us again."
With that, Venta saw the hologram disappear.
His eyes went to Nero.
"What was that about?"
"Do you know her voice?"
"Erm...something about it seemed a bit familiar to me. Still, she came to see me...why did her threats feel more like warnings than her actually trying to intimidate me?"
Nero shook her head several times.
"That I don't know."
Venta stood there with a puzzled expression.
But that changed when he felt Mana near Yuno, and he was sure he had felt it before that day, and he didn't like the feeling of Yuno's Mana suddenly being suppressed.
"That Mana I sensed before...it's suppressing Yuno-san's Mana...lets go and check it out Nero."
"Yes, lets."
Together, they shot off through the sky at high speeds.
Once leaving the hologram of the girl behind, Venta was heading towards Yuno's location as fast as he could.
But when he nearly made it, Nebra distracted him as she sent her mist up towards him.
"There you are, where have you been?"
"Just been checking something out, that's all."
He replied calmly, and went to move, when Nebra stopped him.
"Then we should leave together right away."
Venta shook his head.
"I'll be right back Nebra-san."
"Wait, where are you going?"
"I just have to check something out before I go."
Nebra was perplexed.
She didn't know what was going on with him, and watched as he began flying away from her.
Moving through the area, he came to an alleyway with two large brick walls on either side of them. Before him, was the tower that the girls and the others were given their grimoire's. And before his eyes, he could see a fight was going down.
His eyes caught the sight of Yuno being bound with chains. Her grimoire being held by a man. The man's name being Revchi.
"He's binding her Magic, that's why she isn't able to fight back. Still, under normal circumstances, I'd say Yuno-san could beat this guy, he must have caught her by surprise...I wonder if that girl brought me away so they could do this...? But even then, they must realize that I'd finish this guy off pretty quickly, so I can't see them being connected...still, it could be a possibility...either way, this guys got her Grimoire, not for much longer."
Venta moved forward, when he saw Asta coming in from the other way, so he held back for a few moments.
"Hey! What are you doing with Yuno's Grimoire?!"
She yells at the man who laughs in her face.
"Oh, the brat that couldn't even obtain a Grimoire huh. That must suck for you."
"E-Even if I couldn't, why do you have Yuno's?! What are you trying to do!?"
"I'm going to sell this Grimoire on the Black Market. A four leaf clover is going to bring in some cash. I never thought that a backwater place like this would produce a Mage with talent to wield this four leaf clover, it must be some kind of mistake, it must be something that has to be a mistake. So I'll just have to take this for myself."
Asta didn't like that.
She couldn't accept it.
"But that's Yuno's! It chose Yuno, so give it back right now!"
Trying to reason with Revchi, but he didn't care, and simply caused the young girl to be repelled by his Magic. Summoning chains, they came at Asta, Venta went to intercept, when surprisingly Asta managed to jump out of the way, and dodge it completely.
He held back as Asta rushed forward.
"Asta! Just run!"
Yuno called out, while Venta saw that Asta made no attempt whatsoever to turn and run.
She wouldn't do that.
He was intrigued to see if she could defeat a Mage, though if it got out of hand then he would step in and take down the Mage. Sensing the difference in their power, Venta was sure he'd be able to beat the man without issue, he even thought Nebra would be able to defeat him if she went against him without much problem.
"Come on, give it back to Yuno!"
Asta yells as the man swings his hand out, and caused chains to appear via his magic.
Shooting them out for Asta, the young girl tried to dodge out of the way, when a chain came up from down below, wrapping around Asta's leg, and caused her to be paused.
"H-Hey! Get it off me!"
Asta snapped, and pulled at the chains, but they danced all around her. Asta, not deterred, tightened her fist, and swung it out for the enemy before her. The man's eyes locked with her own, and he caused his chains to come out, wrapping around her arm and paused it in place.
"Thinking you can defeat me. You are pitiful aren't you?"
The man yelled in Asta's face, yet held a surprising condescending tone to him at the same time.
Venta went to step in, when suddenly he felt like he was being restrained internally, something that he hadn't been in a while.
He knew what it was…
It was his Devil stopping him.
"What are you doing?"
Venta demanded from the Devil inside, as he saw Asta receive an attack from the right hand side, sending her flying back.
Asta's body slammed against a wall, causing her to erupt with pain.
"It's something you'll want to see, I know that I will. I can sense a new presence coming here."
Venta furrowed his brows at his Devils words.
Even speaking openly rather than mentally, Venta definitely was curious.
"Did you really think a loser without Mana like you could ever try anything with me? Magic is what matters in this world, no matter what you try, a commoner with no Magic is going to be able to rise to the top of the ranks. You were born nothing and you are going to die a nothing as well. You're so pathetic, you didn't even have a plan other than lunging at me, you don't even have a Grimoire! What are you going to do against me huh?!"
The man yelled, with Asta's will beginning to shake.
The fact that Yuno was tied up.
The fact that Yuno's grimoire had been taken as well.
And the fact that even now...she couldn't do anything to help her friend.
When her friend was being caught by the other Mage's back in the forest, she couldn't do a thing and had to be saved. And now, it was the same thing, that she would need to be saved, and the Mage before her could do whatever it was that he wished to do.
"No...I'm not...finished yet..."
Asta tried to push away from the wall, but Revchi came up, and placed his foot on her shoulder, causing her body to go into the wall once more.
"Not finished? I think that you are."
"...I wont...stop...until I've...become the Wizard Queen..."
"How can you do that when you have no Magic? My chains can feel someone's magic power, and you don't have any. You are nothing, and as I said, you'll die a nothing. You are going to die here and now, and I'll be going away with your friends Grimoire! Hahaha!"
Laughing in her face, Venta shook his head, and seriously wished to punch this guy for speaking in such a manner.
The only thing stopping him was his Devil.
But then Venta felt Nebra's Mana approaching.
"That man used to be apart of the Purple Orcas." Nebra said as she walked up, Venta's eyes went towards the approaching woman who held a small disgusted look on her face. "I can't remember his name but his face I do remember, he got kicked out. Now he's trying to go after commoners and their Grimoire's, I guess he's sunk so low."
Nebra moved closer, and hugged his arm.
His eyes went towards her, as she smiled.
"Why haven't you defeated him yet?"
Nebra asked Venta, who didn't reply, as the Devil inside was causing him to stop.
Yuno however wouldn't accept what Revchi said about Asta, and began speaking up.
"You've got it wrong."
The girls words caused Revchi to turn his head towards Yuno.
"What are you talking about?"
"You said that she was a loser...that she would die a nothing...but, that's not true. Because I wouldn't have a rival that would die like that. Asta wishes to become Wizard Queen, but that's where I am going to be going. And that's because I got the courage from Asta, so standing there, and berating her as if she's nothing...you're the one that's going to end up like that, not us. Besides, she risked her life for me recently, and in the past. From a thug like you...when I was attacked, Asta didn't stop fighting, even when the odds were against her. Even now...you're trying to belittle my friend...my rival. My rival, doesn't quit."
Upon hearing that, Asta's face lifts up and looks towards Yuno.
Remembering their shared past together, remembering the times that Yuno showed superior skills, yet at the same time was someone that Asta looked up to as a rival, a friend, someone that she wished to surpass, and she wished to become the Wizard Queen.
As the willingness to fight appeared on Asta's face…
Venta felt a pulse go through him.
"What's this feeling?"
Venta asked the Devil internally so Nebra didn't hear, the Devil chortled.
"It's a feeling I thought you'd be aware of. Aren't you aware of what this is?"
Venta furrowed his brows as he thought about what the Devil said.
"It couldn't be though..."
"It is...the sign of a Devil."
As his Devil said it, Venta saw an eerie aura to appear around Asta.
From the ground, a book began to emerge…
It was a grimoire.
Venta watched as the grimoire went towards Asta's side, and hovers in the air.
Nero, who was relaxing for the most part, suddenly came out of Venta's hair, and looked towards Asta. She shifted to Venta's shoulder, and got close to his ear, whispering so Nebra didn't hear her speaking.
"Venta, that Grimoire, it's a five leaf clover."
Venta looked over it, and saw it looked dirty and beat up. Tattered in places, it looked to have seen better days.
However, there wasn't a mistake what was on the cover of the grimoire.
"Five leaf clover...but why does she have that…?"
Thinking about it, Venta looked on as Asta looked towards the Grimoire.
Yuno lightly smiled "I knew she'd get one..." as Nebra looked over it.
"That Grimoire, what kind of Grimoire is it?"
"It's special."
Venta replied, perplexing Nebra even more.
The book opened up, and coming from it, a sword appeared. It looked to be a weird shape, with the blade being rather large, covered in dirt and all black, the blade Asta grabbed with her right hand, as she stared at it in perplexity.
"W-Wait, what is that Grimoire?! Five leaf clover?!"
Becoming more worried, Revchi was stunned for a few moments.
But then he summons his chains and aims them towards Asta.
However, as they shot for her, Asta clutched the sword tightly within her hands, and swung the blade out, and rather than simply cut them, Venta saw that the chains were negated completely. They didn't even just get destroyed, they vanished as if they weren't there in the first place.
"W-What the hell! My chains! How did you do that?!"
Venta watched as Asta lunged forward.
The chains that the man had all vanished as Asta got in close.
"One day, I am going to become the Wizard Queen, and I'm going to marry Ventaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
Venta lightly laughs as Nebra seethes.
"W-What did that peasant say?!"
Nebra snapped, while Venta glanced towards the young woman.
"N-No, you can't do this!"
Revchi's bottom lip trembled as the girls sword slashes at Revchi's torso. Catching him up, the pressure of the attack and the strength behind her actions caused the area to release a shockwave, which cracked the ground from the intense kind of attack.
Then, pushing forward, the man's body went flying and smashed into a wall. The attack caused the man's eyes to begin closing due to the impressive attack. Negating even the Magic, Venta looked on as the Devil inside of him began laughing.
"So this girls got Anti Magic! That's hilarious! Well, at least it isn't something we have to worry about, no Devils going to surpass me!"
Laughing loudly within Venta's mind, he almost felt his head beginning to hurt.
Though the Devil inside did confirm what Venta thought it was. His eyes went towards Nero who seemed to stare at the grimoire with intrigue.
Nebra looked on as she folded her arms.
"What kind of Magic is that?"
"It's Anti Magic."
Nebra was taken by surprise.
"A-Anti Magic? You're telling me she can negate Magic? How can she wield that?"
Venta had a few ideas, and he was sure his Devil would know more about it than he did.
Venta watched as the chains around Yuno disappeared.
The young girl looked on, as she walks forward towards Asta.
Looking at the Grimoire that Asta had, she kept chanting "I have a Grimoire~ I have a Grimoire~" while Yuno looked at the book.
"Asta, you saved me from him. I was caught off guard, but you came to save me again." Yuno's eyes shoot towards the sky. "It's...something that I will repay one day."
"Repay? You don't have to do that! We're friends, even siblings Yuno!"
"...Yes, however there's something that I'd like to ask you. Do you remember the promise that we made when we were young?"
Asta thought about it for a few moments, before nodding.
"Yeah, I remember."
The pair of them raise their fists, and slam them together in a fist bump as they both declare "I'm going to become the Wizard Queen." settling in their rivalry, and at the same time showcasing their strong friendship.
As they did, Venta walked over towards Revchi, and places his hand towards him.
"Gravity Restraining Magic, Heavy Chains."
Chains made of gravity wrapped around the man's body. Because of the heavy nature of them, the man wouldn't be able to try and escape, while Venta's eyes went towards Asta, who pushed forward, and showed her Grimoire.
"Venta! Look! This is my Grimoire! Isn't it cool?!"
Venta smiled at the young girl as he overlooked the Grimoire.
"It definitely is cool Asta-san."
"Yeah! See? Isn't it awesome? And this sword too! It took care of that chain guy!"
Venta nodded.
"Yes, it really did. I'll take this guy with me and make sure he's put away for attacking you guys." Venta bent down, and took the grimoire that he had of Yuno's, giving it towards Yuno. "Here, make sure not to lose it."
Yuno nodded slowly, as Venta brought the man up with his gravity magic.
Allowing him to float beside him, Venta looked at the pair.
"Well done both of you. I have to go and take this guy back, but I'll see you both soon..." As he spoke, he looked at the time and paled. "Oh crap, I have to go or I'll be late! See you later!"
Venta turned to Nebra, and offered his hand.
Nebra giddily (albeit with her trying to hide it from Venta) accepted his hand, but then retracted it.
"Well, usually I don't go along for rides with commoners."
"Oh, then you don't want to come with me?"
He lightly teased her, something that Nebra took seriously, and shook her head.
"F-For this time, I've made an exception! Since this is a difficult situation and something that I have to do, then we should be going together. Are you okay with that? I am okay with that for this time."
Venta rolled his eyes at the girls behaviour, he never could tell what she was going to say next.
"So you want a ride?"
Nebra inhaled slowly, then she inclined her neck a single time.
"Yes, I do. Thank you."
Venta brought her close. His magic field went out, and caught the young woman up in it.
Her body floated, and she became surprised.
"What is this?"
"My Magic, as long as you're close to me, you'll fly with me like this."
"Hmm, it seems your Gravity Magic has more uses than I thought that it did. Then, proceed."
"By the way Nebra-san, I'm going straight to the ceremony for Mimosa-san and Noelle-san, are you coming with me?"
Nebra didn't reply.
Instead, she looked away and thought about what he said, and what had transpired during the day, even her own thoughts on the matter.
Together with Nebra, Venta took off through the air. Asta and Yuno looked on at the pair flying, with Asta grinning out "That's my future husband~" causing Yuno to glance at the young girl curiously.
A small time later, Mimosa patiently waited for Venta to come with her cousin Noelle by her side as they stood just outside of the building they'd be going in, under some shelter as rain poured heavily down.
Raining on such an event, Mimosa kept looking to see where Venta could come from.
Her brother Kirsch held a hand to his forehead.
He didn't speak, but it was clear Kirsch liked the idea of Venta simply not turning up, as Kirsch was a protective brother that didn't want Mimosa to be with a 'commoner' and didn't want her to have to worry about him either.
Mimosa was assured that he would turn up.
And she was proven correct when she heard "MIMOSA-SAN!" coming from the sky.
Her eyes went up, seeing something cutting through the rain.
A few moments later, Venta landed on the ground, as water rained down on him, though his Magic diverted it away so it didn't bother him.
Mimosa's lips curled upwards, Noelle was surprised while Kirsch looked stunned.
"Venta-san!"
Mimosa called, Venta smiled as he walked forward towards her.
"Commoner! Or whatever you are! What are you doing-" Before Kirsch could continue, Mimosa suddenly caused her plants to appear as a wall, blocking his path. "Mimosa! Why are you doing this!? Are you worried about my beauty?!"
Mimosa ignored her brother, and rushed towards Venta who came towards her.
Getting close, Mimosa smiled up at him as he smiled down.
"Sorry for being late, lots of things have been going on. Then Nebra-san was...lets not go into that. I'm not late, right?"
Mimosa shook her head, and placed her hand on top of his own.
"No, you're right on time."
He looked towards her hand, and gently smiled as his placed both of his hands over her own.
"I'm glad. Sorry for being so late, been one of those days."
"No, you don't have to explain. The important thing is that you're here now, and I'm so happy that you are."
Venta was glad that she said that.
Just cementing in his mind how kind and good Mimosa really was.
"So ready to go?"
"Yes! I'm ready! Ooh, you can also meet my cousin Noelle!"
"Sure, it would be good~"
Venta and Mimosa walked forward, where Venta came face to face with Noelle.
Noelle overlooked him, as he offered his hand.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Venta, I'm from the Black Bulls."
Noelle overlooked him once more, wondering what he was thinking about her. If he'd have a reaction like her siblings had...
So she brushed his hand away.
"I don't recall giving you permission to speak to me, insect."
"Noelle!"
Mimosa berated, knowing that this was Noelle's defence mechanism coming in, Venta shook his head.
"Sorry about that Noelle-san."
Noelle looked towards him once more, folding her arms.
"So you're the one who Mimosa has been speaking about?"
"She's been speaking about me huh?" Venta's eyes went to the blushing Mimosa. "What have you been saying Mimosa-san~?"
Noelle was surprised.
Someone speaking to royalty like Mimosa in such a casual and even teasing tone.
Even when Noelle herself said something rude, he didn't seem angry at her, he didn't retaliate against her, or even be annoyed by her, he more simply let it slide, which did surprise her a good bit.
"N-No, it's nothing!"
Mimosa shyly replied, shaking her head side to side cutely.
Venta lightly laughed, patting the top of her head, causing her to blush even more.
Just then, as they were going to move, Venta saw that no one was there for Noelle.
Unlike Mimosa who had Kirsch, no one came for Noelle.
He thought maybe Nebra might have come...
But it seemed that she hadn't.
So he moved to Noelle's side, and though having only just met her, he wished to at least show some support, as this was Mimosa's cousin and he could see for himself that she had sad eyes.
"Ready Noelle-san?"
"F-For?"
"The ceremony of course, what else?"
Noelle blinked.
"I guess...it's only to obtain a Grimoire."
"That's a very important thing. Come on, lets go."
Encouraging her, Noelle gives suspicious eyes as she wasn't used to people being kind to her, but walks forward anyway.
However, as Venta went to, his eyes drifted outside as he sensed a Mana approaching.
Waiting for a few moments, Nebra came flying in on a broom.
She stepped off the broom, and walked forward towards them.
"N-Nebra-san..."
Noelle paused when Mimosa called out.
She turned to see Nebra stood there, walking closer.
"Big sister..."
Nebra's eyes went towards Noelle, who froze in place.
She began looking down, as if she was expecting Nebra to say something.
So she was surprised when Nebra didn't say a thing at all.
After half a minute, she looked at Nebra, who folded her arms.
"Are you coming Noelle?"
"I...I..."
Noelle didn't know what to say, she hadn't spoken to her sister for a good while, and Nebra wasn't showcasing any hostility either, it was so surprising she was stunned.
Nebra let out a breath, and began walking forward.
"Royalty shouldn't stutter Noelle." Nebra's eyes went towards Venta's own. "Venta-kun...Black Bull, you've arrived also."
Venta's face curled upwards into a genuine smile.
"Good to see you here, Nebra-san."
Seeing his smile, and kind demeanour, Nebra's cheeks turned slightly red, before facing in the front.
"Well, it is important that at least one member of the House of Silva is here for this ceremony as a representative like Vermilion is here as well with Kirsch, that's all."
"I see, then lets get going in." Venta placed a hand on Noelle's shoulder, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Ready?"
Noelle looked at him curiously, before nodding slowly.
"Y-Yes..."
Venta watched as Noelle began walking forward.
As she did, she looked back towards Venta who waved happily at her, Noelle blinked and then turned her face back to the front.
Mimosa looked at Nebra, walking near Noelle and while it didn't seem they were being friendly or even speaking, it seemed at least Nebra wasn't trying to distance herself either.
Mimosa then turned towards Venta, and moved closer.
"Venta-san, Nebra-san came here...d-did you do it? How did you convince her?"
"I just said that she should support her sister and spoke to her about it, it was her choice to show up."
Mimosa's face curled upwards into a soft smile.
"I see...still, it's good she came."
Venta nodded.
"Yeah...it seems there's hope for Nebra-san yet."
Mimosa giggled.
"Yes, seems so~"
Venta's hand went towards Mimosa.
"Ready?"
Mimosa's face turned a cute red colour.
Looking at his hand, she shyly took it, and wrapped her fingers around his hand as tight as she could.
Kirsch's bottom lip trembled at that, while Mimosa created another wall of plants so he couldn't ruin the moment between them.
"Y-Yes, I'm ready."
"Then lets get you a Grimoire."
Mimosa smiled as they walked inside, and soon after began the ceremony.
As it went on, Mimosa saw Nebra glancing between Noelle and Venta.
Though it seemed like there was some distance to go and even though it wasn't ideal yet, Mimosa was glad that Nebra at least showed up and wasn't dismissing Noelle.
And Mimosa was glad Venta had made it, sharing this experience with him, she couldn't deny she was truly happy.

So this chapter focused on getting the Grimoire's for some characters. Venta also seemingly met a certain fire mage, though she decided to keep her identity a secret for the time being. And what she was doing by contacting him, shall be revealed in the near future. Also, it seems that Nebra is quite the determined woman, even going to a place she'd rather not, though is still denying her feelings in her own special way. She even went through a few things, and by the end, even showed up at the ceremony where Noelle was, while their relationships still quite rocky, so we'll see how that plays out in the future between the siblings.
So about Charlotte...it was very close, I had to count it several times to see which one won out it was that close, however it seems that the poll went towards Venta x Charlotte by only a few votes. I've worked out the circumstances behind their relationship, and we'll soon see how that plays out as the story goes on.
For those that voted for Yami x Charlotte, I am sorry as I do really like the ship as well in canon, but that's how the poll went. However, I have been thinking about some different pairings for Yami (as some suggested about funny moments between Yami and Venta and people believing that they're like father and son, and a love interest for Yami proclaiming that they're like the Mother and other things like that).
One I thought could be fun is the Witch Queen, the reaction with Vanessa alone would be fun to see, but if anyone has suggestions, please let me know!
Finally, I am also taking suggestions for the Devils Magic, I've been getting a good few lately, so which ones I think would work best, I'll put to a vote next week, along with some ideas that I have, so if you're interest, suggest away!
