Darth Simp; Hehe yeah, we'll learn a good bit about her pretty soon and what she's up too. That would be a nice moment between the two of them. Yeah, Yami seems to be losing pretty bad to the likes of Dorothy and I could see him doing that one day. I could see Karna doing something like that yeah. Yeah, Yuno and Catherine will be meeting one another. That would be cool with Vetto.

With those reviews out of the way, it's time to start the chapter.
Asta and Noelle's First Mission!
Early in the morning, Venta stood outside of the Black Bull base, as he, and Asta who was pumped full of energy waited for Noelle to arrive. His eyes drifted towards Asta, seeing that she was punching the air again and again.
"Alright! This is going to be my first mission! My first official mission at that! Isn't it going to be great Venta-kun?!"
"It is, but remember that even an easy mission can have twists and turns."
Asta nodded, and revealed her Grimoire.
"I've got my Grimoire at the ready future husband! Leave it to me, I'll cut down any enemy Mage's that we come across! I can see it now, us fighting side by side. Loving one another, and then kicking major butt!"
Venta found it quite cute that she was doing that.
"Right, then I'll leave it to you Asta-san."
"Yup! Leave it to me!"
As she said it, Charmy came walking out of the base. She had some packed lunches with her, and she gave them towards Venta. Her eyes briefly went towards Asta, and the girl paused when she saw a scary look in her eyes.
"Venta-kun, don't forget to eat my food!"
Venta bent down, and petted Charmy's head affectionately, causing the small girl to have a red face.
"Yes, I'll not forget, thank you Charmy-chan."
Charmy shook her head, as she looked towards his lap.
She then looked at Asta, who flinched as Charmy stared at her.
"La, Prince, don't let her steal your lap while you're gone, okay?"
Venta was surprised when Charmy seemed very serious all of a sudden.
"Okay Charmy-chan, I'll be sure to remember."
Charmy beams up at the young man, before skipping back inside of the base.
Asta shivered at the sight of the smaller girl.
"S-She really likes your lap, doesn't she?"
"Yeah, she does."
Asta looked back towards the base, and wondered what Charmy was doing at that moment.
To be honest with herself, she felt as if Charmy truly was protective over Venta's lap, but Asta also did like sitting there as well, and she didn't want to give it up either.
Just then, Noelle came out of the base, having sleepy eyes. She even had her pigtails hugging around her neck, like a makeshift neck pillow which Venta thought was cute.
But he then saw that she looked rather tired.
"Not sleep well Noelle-san?"
Noelle rubbed underneath her eyes.
"I feel sleepy, I didn't get much sleep, maybe I was excited or something, I can't be sure. So, what are we going to do now?"
Venta gathered the pair, then began explaining what was going on.
"Right, so the mission is to take out some wild boars that have been bothering the small village of Sosshi. According to this information I got from the Captain, there's a fair few of them, so we should probably get going."
"Wild boars huh. How dangerous?"
Noelle asked, Venta shook his head.
"Nothing to worry about, even newbie Magic Knights wont have trouble with them."
Noelle clapped her hands a single time.
"I see, then I'd like to do the mission quickly."
Venta raised a brow.
"Oh? Got another appointment?"
Noelle shook her head, as she felt a smallest amount of redness fill her cheeks.
"N-No, it isn't anything like that, but big sister Nebra, she said something about coming here for a meal later on...and I thought that it would be good if we are back...s-so she doesn't do anything wild, you know how she is after all. She would drive the other members crazy if she is left to her own devices."
Venta could see she was covering it up at the end.
It was clear she wished to spend time with her sister, who was treating her, like a person for the first time in forever. It was probably the only time she had received, any kind of affection from her family, even if Nebra was doing it in an odd way.
"I see, then we should-"
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait!"
Magna came running out, huffing and puffing as they went to leave.
"Magna, what's going on?"
Magna bent over, trying to catch his breath.
"W-Wait, can I go? It's Sosshi, Venta."
Venta shrugged, understanding what he meant.
"Sure, if you wanna come then come."
"Right! Then lets get on my special ride!"
Noelle and Asta blinked, and said in unison "Special ride?" Magna showed a strong smile, and produced his special ride, as he called it. Venta looked over it, and saw a broom with a bull's skull as its front set and a spine and ribs as its frame.
When Noelle saw it, she immediately pulled away.
"I am not getting on that."
Magna face faulted.
"Eeh? Why not Princess?"
"Because it looks dangerous."
Noelle cut it down immediately, with Asta leaning forward.
"I don't know, I like it anyway."
Venta lightly snickered.
"It seems that Noelle-san doesn't want to get on it, and Asta-san can't fly anyway, so I'll just take us all."
"On your broom?!"
Asta yelled in excitement, but Venta shook his head.
"No, just stay close to me, and I'll make us all fly."
Asta became intrigued, so she moved closer, as did Noelle.
Magna looked at his broom fondly, before moving closer.
Then Venta clicked his fingers.
Creating a field of gravity around him once casting a spell, and them, they began to float into the air.
"Alright, keep your bodies within the field at all times, but you're free to move around it."
Noelle waved her arms out, like a flapping motion, and caused her to move through the air as if she was in water, but without the resistance water usually would give. She truly was flying, and she couldn't contain the smile on her face.
"This is amazing, we're actually flying right now Venta-kun."
"Haha, that's right Noelle-san, you like it?"
Noelle nodded as she did a somersault within the field of gravity.
Asta then swung her arms, and shot off into the air.
But stopped before reaching the border of the gravity area.
"Future husband, your Magic is so cool!"
"Thanks Asta-san." Asta beams at him. "Also Asta-san, don't bring out your sword and slice anything in here, or you will drop to the ground."
"Ehehe! Got it future husband!"
"Right, then here we go!"
Venta rocketed off into the air, with the three following around him.
"Wooooooooooooooooooooooow! We're going so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast!"
Asta yelled at the top of her lungs, while Magna laughed to himself.
"This isn't the fastest he can go. But we're going this speed so you newbies don't feel sick."
"Like you did Magna?"
Magna's face turned embarrassed, his cool tough guy exterior fading faster than he'd care to admit.
"Don't tell them anything more Vice Captain!"
Embarrassment erupted across Magna's face, something Venta had to playfully jab at.
"Why? You said to Luck that you'd be able to handle any speeds, yet he handled them easily and you-"
"Okay! Okay! No need for anymore!"
Venta chuckled as did Noelle.
She looked around, seeing the landscape below her, the water to the far right.
It looked so different from up above.
She really did like it after all.
A small time later, Charlotte was in the middle of having her breakfast. Quietly, she sat at a table, within a local area that served food in the morning. But as she did, she saw that Dorothy had come into the area, and she, as always, was asleep.
Charlotte watched as Dorothy somehow ordered the food that she wanted, and walked off back towards her table.
Charlotte drunk her drink, as she looked towards Dorothy.
She saw within Dorothy's hands, was pictures of what looked like new beds.
Clearly beds for two or more people.
Charlotte's eyebrows twitched, knowing exactly why she was getting them.
"She's probably getting a new bed for her, and Venta-kun. It isn't like I am bothered, my only lover is the battlefield...b-but he does have those cute expressions sometimes...he is rather charming...no, Charlotte. You cannot fall for such things."
Trying to deny it, Charlotte shook her head several times.
Dorothy seemingly sensed the look from Charlotte, so she stood up, and sat down at her table.
She produced a note, and passed it onto Charlotte.
[When he's back, I have Venta-kun for the week.]
Charlotte kept a stoic expression on.
Though she felt like she was seething a little bit inside.
"I...I see."
Replying in her usual offbeat manner, Charlotte returned to her food.
But then Dorothy produced another note, passing it onto Charlotte.
[I could help you win Venta-kun for the next week against his Captain.]
Charlotte's face lifted up, as her cheeks began to fill with redness.
Thoughts ran through her mind.
She imagined Venta and herself on a beach somewhere for an entire week, with him feeding her strawberries as she laid on his lap wearing a two piece swimsuit as he wore a swimsuit that left little to the imagination, smiling down sweetly at her, whispering "Charlotte-chan, you're so adorable." as he stroked her face, and began leaning down for the kiss.
That image in her head, and others caused the real Charlotte to quiver at the thoughts.
"Calm down Charlotte! Calm down! It's fine, it is only a fantasy...b-but what if he finds out about it?! What if this witch can tell and then tells him what I'm thinking about right now?! N-No, it's alright she can't read minds...I don't think she can..."
Charlotte breathed in and out sharply to compose herself.
As she did, Dorothy passed on another note.
[All you have to do is beat his Captain in a game of poker.]
Charlotte looked at the note, then thought about it.
"But I am not accustomed to playing poker."
Dorothy anticipated this, and passed on another note.
[I'll teach you how to play, good enough to beat Yami-chan.]
"W-Why would you?"
Charlotte couldn't understand what was going on within the young woman's mind.
Dorothy passed on another note.
[Because we can share Venta-kun.]
Charlotte did a spit take.
"Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! I-I don't want him! My only lover is the battlefield!"
As she yelled that out, Charlotte's mouth turned up and down at set intervals, she couldn't decide if she should be so happy, or she should be dead worried about what she had just heard.
Dorothy wrote a new note and passed it on.
[Your two lovers can be the battlefield and Venta-kun.]
Charlotte's mind raced while Dorothy kept up her sleepy persona.
She then broke out into a huge blush, shaking side to side with nervousness on her face.
"S-Sharing though..."
Dorothy passed on yet another note.
[It is fine, I wont say anything to anyone. So, do you want to have Venta-kun for a week?]
Charlotte blushed as she thought about all of the things that they could do together.
She did, but she didn't want to reveal it.
She felt ashamed to say it aloud.
"...Yes."
She whispered it so even Dorothy had trouble hearing it.
Her face had a full on blush.
She looked quite embarrassed at the same time.
Dorothy nodded, and passed on one final note.
[Then I'll teach you how to play poker.]
Charlotte placed her hands on her face, feeling even more embarrassed than ever before.
Upon arriving in the area that was were the wild boars were said to be, Venta sat down by a tree as he watched Asta become pumped up. She pulled out her sword and swung it out before her, while Noelle furrowed her brows.
"You seem ready for this."
Noelle noted to Asta, who nodded.
"Yup! I'll do this in no time! Future husband! Watch me!"
Noelle's eyebrows twitched at the 'future husband' stuff.
Asta then turned to face Venta.
"Future husband, watch me! I'm gonna stop all the boars, then can we cuddle?!"
"Sure, but you should be focused on what's behind you right now."
Asta blinked as a large figure appeared behind Asta.
"What?" She turned her neck to see the large boar was coming at her with its head. "Aaah! Then, I'll just have to slice and dice with my sword!"
Venta watched as Asta got herself pumped up for the fight.
Taking out her sword, she swung it, deflecting the boars head away from her body, but then another charged for her, causing her to cringe.
"Go away!"
She swung her sword out, causing the boar to back off.
But then another comes in from behind, Noelle lets out a breath.
"I suppose I should also get involved." Taking out her wand, she aims it towards the boar. "Water Magic, Sea Dragons Waterball!"
Water surged, Magna's face dropped at the size of the sphere.
Noelle then shot it out with a simple flick of her wand, blasting the sphere at high speeds.
Asta saw it coming, and let out a small cry, ducking as the sphere smashed into one of the boars body, blasting it with such a degree that she defeated it in one single attack, even Magna was impressed with how she managed to do it so easily.
"D-Damn, you are a royal, aren't you?"
"Did you only just realize?"
Noelle asked Magna with a deadpan look who laughed awkwardly in response.
"Noelle-san, keep going! You and Asta-san can do it! Magna and I will watch from here, okay?"
Noelle glanced at Venta who gave an encouraging nod.
So she did just that together with Asta.
As they continued taking out the boars, Venta took a glance at Magna.
"You were worried about them, weren't you?"
He spoke in a casual but understanding tone.
Magna's face drains of colour.
"Wha...n-no! Of course not!"
He denied it, he didn't want to lose the tough exterior that he had.
Venta lightly laughs in a playful manner to what Magna said.
"Even now you're trying to hide it huh. It's alright, I wont tell them anything."
Magna chuckles awkwardly, scratching his cheek a single time.
"W-Well, they are newbies and all, I thought as their Senpai I should show them some of the ropes. But it seems that they are handling it very well. Haha, maybe I came for nothing after all. Though we are going to Sosshi after this, right?"
"Yeah, we'll be taking the boars there, then head on back. Gonna see the mayor...Seihi, right?"
"That old man! Yeah, probably. Haha, I'm sure he'll be shocked to see me!"
Venta smiled.
"Maybe he would be yeah, I'm sure that he'd be happy to see how far you've come from that kid back then that was always challenging him to a fight."
"Maybe I'll do it this time, I'll be able to defeat him. Even if he is someone that has the power to become a Magic Knight, I'm also a Magic Knight now, and I'll show how strong I've become since then to that old timer!"
Venta could see the passionate fire within Magna's eyes.
Magna then faced Venta once more.
"By the way, why didn't you have Finral teleport us here? It would have been faster, right?"
"If he had been here, then yeah it would have been. I asked, and he said he hadn't been here before. Besides it isn't all that long if we kick it into high gear."
Magna laughed as a response to what Venta said.
As they watched, Venta picked something up.
His senses went off, and his eyes drifted off towards the location of Sosshi.
So he walked a little distance away and brought out Nero.
"You never guess what I just picked up. Faintly, but it feels like the one that we've got."
Nero tilted her head.
"A Magic Stone, around here?"
"We found one in a cave of tunnels, so is it weird that we'd find one in a village?"
Nero's head tilted up to meet with his own.
"Another one. We should go and secure it before that group gets wind of it."
"I can't sense any strong Mana's over there, at least one's that would pose us a worry. It is what you'd expect for around here. Still, it is better that we take the Magic Stone, if that group indeed gets wind of it, they could attack the village, and cause unnecessary problems for them."
"That's good, we can wrap up this mission, and then get the Magic Stone."
Venta nodded, as he brought Nero towards his face.
"You know what this means, right?"
Nero tilted her head, then nodded.
"If we get the Magic Stone then..."
Venta nodded with a strong smile.
"If I can get it, then we can try that idea of mine to try and transform you back. Even if it is only in set intervals, I believe that it would work if we have even just one more Magic Stone."
If it could happen…
She'd be able to walk around as a human.
She would be able to be herself again.
Even if it was for a short time.
"...Yes, you're right. I could walk with you again Venta."
"Yeah, we'd be able to walk together, and swim, and all sorts of things together. Five hundred years is too long to be stuck as a bird, so lets make that not your reality anymore. Even if it is for a little while before we gather all of the Magic Stones together."
Nero liked the sound of that.
Being able to walk, run.
Being able to be beside Venta, who has helped her so much…
She couldn't wait.
After their conversation, Venta went back to the others, seeing Noelle and Asta having finished their mission together. Magna looked on, amazed by how fast they were able to dispatch of the wild boars together.
"Seems like I came for nothing haha."
Magna gave a soft laugh, while Asta rushed Venta.
She leapt at him, and wrapped her legs around his torso, and her arms around his neck, with his right arm supporting her from down below.
"We did it future husband! We did a good job, right?"
"An excellent job Asta-san."
Asta rubbed underneath her nose, and giggled.
"So, what happens now?"
Noelle exhales as she moves closer.
"You don't know? We go to the village now to deliver the boars."
"She's right Asta-san, we've got to show what we've done. Then this mission is successfully complete."
She hops out of Venta's arms, and rushes to the boars.
"Right, so I'll carry them!"
Venta gave an intrigued stare, before speaking up.
"Do you want me to use my Magic to help you?"
Asta to Noelle's surprise shook her head.
"Nope, this is our job, so we should finish it Venta-kun!"
Noelle's face turned shocked as Venta shrugged.
"Hahaha, alright Asta-san. I'll let you and Noelle-san carry them. Come Magna, we can wait while they're loading them up."
Noelle looked towards Asta in disbelief.
But Asta seemed pumped up and began piling the boars up.
Noelle sighed and did the same thing, as Magna smiled.
"Seems like they're full of excitement huh Vice Captain?"
"Seems so. Well, they are newbies, so they'll want to do as much as possible to learn the ways of being a Magic Knight."
"Yeah, even these little jobs mean so much to those that don't have much. Like Sosshi village."
"Yeah, even if it is a small job, it means so much to those..." He paused, when he felt new Mana's in the direction of the village. "...Seems like we don't have the luxury of time. Asta-san, Noelle-san, forget that for the moment, we've got to get to the village."
"Eeh, what's going on?"
Asta asked, as Noelle closes her eyes.
She uses what she learned from Venta about Mana Sensing…
And then feels it.
"Venta-kun, enemies, they feel like there's four of them."
"Right you are Noelle-san. Come, lets get going."
Venta gathers the group, and creates a field around them.
Then with a single bounce, they shoot off towards the village, travelling at speeds that far surpassed what they were going at beforehand.
As they got closer, a cloud of mist could be seen.
"Mist, is your sister there Noelle?"
Noelle sweat dropped at Asta's comment.
"No, it isn't my big sister."
"But there's some funky Mana's there!"
Magna said angrily.
Venta placed his hand out.
"Keep calm Magna, you wont do any good allowing anger to fuel you. Those people need you at your best, okay?" Magna nods slowly, understanding that Venta had his best interests at heart. "Asta-san, when we get there, cut that mist with your sword. It would make them lose the advantage of having the mist blind their opponents."
"Right!"
Landing on the ground, Venta, Asta, Noelle and Magna look to the village.
Asta takes out her Anti Magic Sword, and swings it forward, cutting through the mist, and thanks to the Anti Magic, making it vanish before their eyes, something that Noelle had to mentally praise, while Magna was in awe.
"That's better, it seems that people are being brought to the main square."
Venta ran confidently together with those following him.
Rushing towards it in their movements, they get there to see the residences all huddled together. Before them, was a Rogue Mage, who was wielding Ice Magic. Before him, was the man that Magna was talking about, Seihi, was trying to go against the Mage who's name is Heath.
Using his Ice Magic, he brings it up and out in shards, ready to pierce through him.
"No..."
Magna's face drops, mortified as he sees Seihi be pierced…
However, something then happened.
Before they reached him, Venta used his Gravity Magic to freeze them all in the air, suspending them before Seihi's body, who fell down to his knees, while Magna's eyes shoot towards Venta, relief on his face.
"You...You protected him..."
"Of course, now it's time to show these guys why you don't mess with the Black Bulls."
Magna smirked when he heard that.
Hearing the confident voice of the Vice Captain of the Black Bulls, caused him to be inspired also.
Venta looked at the robes of the men that were with Heath, realizing who they were.
"Great, they are the same group that have been bothering me for a while now. And with a Magic Stone here, they must be after them, but their Mana, they're pretty decent, but I'm sure these three can handle them..." As he thought about it, Venta glanced up to see the large spikes of ice hanging over the peoples heads. "Alright, Asta-san, Noelle-san, Magna-san, you're up."
Noelle's head dipped.
"Excuse me?"
"Noelle-san, this is the duties of a Magic Knight."
"Aren't you going to fight?"
Venta shook his head.
"Nope."
Noelle's eyes widened.
"Why?"
Venta twitched his neck side to side as he answered the young girls question.
"Because if I did, then how would you grow and learn to be strong?" Noelle and Magna both were stunned by his words, because it began making sense why he wouldn't be involved in the fight. "Think of this as if I'm not here at all. These enemies are before you, these townspeople are looking to you for protection. Your opponents could do underhanded stuff, they could attack innocents, but you've got three of you here, think which person suits what roles the best, fighter, defender, supporter, and neither of you have to be limited to just one role either. Switch it up, see what works out best for you all in that given moment."
If it did become too dangerous, then he would step in, but he believed in all three of their capabilities so much that he knew he'd not be needed for this.
Noelle could understand his words fully.
It was encouraging, it was something that a leader would do, supporting those that are their comrades, their subordinates, and allowing them to flourish, and grow because of this experience at the same time showing how calm he was to which calmed them as well.
Magna looked shocked, and then laughed.
"Wow, you're being serious today Vice Captain."
"I know, I'm usually so laid back as well."
Magna continued to laugh. But he also had a serious face on. Attacking the village that he cared for, he wouldn't allow it to continue, he wasn't going to back down now.
Asta, in the middle of that, looked excited.
"I get it future husband! You want us to become stronger! Alright, got it! Watch me future husband, I'll take this guy to the cleaners!"
"Good. Though be careful Asta-san, this guy does possess some good Mana, and he might have tricks that might shock you. He also has comrades with him. Your powers do have ways around them, be careful."
"Right!"
Asta stepped forward, as did Noelle, and Magna.
Venta pulled back, and made a chair from the ground via his magic shaping it.
Sitting down in it, Nero flew to his lap, and peered up at him.
"Venta, you sure this is wise?"
She whispered, Venta nodded.
"Yeah, don't worry, I've got my eyes on the Magic Stone, I know its exact location. If they make a move towards it, I'll stop them."
"It seems that you've thought of everything. Even the unexpected."
"If you mean those Mage's with the Fire Magic, and that other Mage that had a good deal of power, then yes, I've got ideas on how to take them down should they show up. Worse comes to it and they bring more than I'd expect, I'll unite with my Devil which is my trump card after all. But I have every confidence these three are more than enough for this guy and his friends."
"Okay, if you think its best, I'll go with what you say."
Venta lightly pets the birds head as Magna sees the giant ice spear above them.
Creating flames around him, he forms them into many spheres of fire.
"Fire Magic, Exploding Buckshot!"
Firing them off into the air, they smash into the ice, and create explosions. High in the air, the ice spear was being destroyed by Magna's Magic, Venta murmuring "Seems like he's got stronger lately." with a smile on his face, glad for his fellow Black Bull.
Heath growls at the sight, and glances at Venta. He looked at the pocket watch that he had, then his eyes shifted back to Venta.
"He's the leader of this group it seems. He's probably the strongest based on how he was speaking to the others around him then. But it seems his focus is on something else, if I take him down then these others will soon fall. It should take me only ten seconds to ambush this guy."
Heath decided that within his mind, creating a large block of ice to try and crush Venta.
Forming it high in the air, the crackling of the ice could be heard by the others, as the mist Mage tried to create an area where they wouldn't be seen.
But Asta wouldn't allow it, and jumped up, slicing through the mist with her Anti Magic sword, shocking the mist user.
"My mist!"
As she finished cutting through it, Asta turned towards the crackling, to see it forming fully. The giant ice block that looked as if it could crush a house easily, and then she saw it falling down towards Venta like a meteor.
"Venta-kun!"
Venta glanced at Asta, before smiling and raising his hand.
"Gravity Magic, Lightweight."
As the giant glacier like ice block shot down, it seemed to be weakening in its momentum, until it fully stopped as it touched Venta's palm.
As if it was as light as a feather, despite the sheer size and weight that it actually would have, Venta used a single finger to push it further into the air, before he turned his eyes towards Heath himself who was visibly stunned.
"My ice...with a single hand...who are you?"
"Vice Captain of the Black Bulls. Nice to meet you, your name is?"
Heath shook from that while Asta grinned.
"Wow, future husband is so cool! So, this is the gap between us huh future husband? That alright, because I'm going to grow even stronger future husband!"
Seeing her future husbands strength, Asta was even more excited to become even stronger to see where she would be able to stand, as she could see right now she wouldn't be able to stand a chance, but that's what she loved, as she had another goal to reach as well.
Venta glanced up at the ice berg, then with a closing of his hand, his Gravity Magic shot right through it, breaking it into many thousands of tiny pieces, raining down like small bits of snowflakes all around Venta's form, amazing Noelle and Asta, while frightening Heath and his men.
"Don't worry about me Asta-san, you worry about the opponent before you."
Asta nods, and turns back to the disbelieving Heath, seeing his ice simply shattering as if it was nothing.
"Maybe if I grabbed one of these girls, or that fire boy, and use them as a hostage, then maybe I could get the upper hand. In a straight up fight, that boys Mana is off the charts, and his simple use of his Magic completely shattered my ice as if it was nothing. Even my stronger attacks. Alright, then I'll take down one of these three with him, and think of my next move then."
Shaking his head, Heath glared hard at Asta as she approached.
"Why are you here?! Why attack these people!?"
Heath shows a condescending look towards Asta.
"I'm merely cleaning up after these beasts."
Asta's eyes flared.
"B-Beasts?"
"Yeah, these townspeople, or should I say townsbeasts? That's all they are after all. I hated their existence, so I wished to get rid of them, that's all. I don't have to explain myself to you at all, is that understood?"
Venta didn't really believe him, it was clear they were there for the Magic Stone as well, and his words were simply to avoid speaking about it.
"Don't you dare call them beasts! You don't have the right!"
"The right? I have the right to do as I wish. They are nothing's, fleas that need to be exterminated. Don't you get it little Magic Knight-chan? Once you're dead, I'm going for your leader there."
"Don't you dare threaten these people, or my future husband!"
Venta chuckled awkwardly at that, seeing how serious Asta truly was at that moment in time.
"No, it isn't a threat girl. It is a promise."
As he said it, using his Magic, he creates many icicles within the air. More and more, Venta could see the other Mage's with him were also powering up, with the water Magic, and mist Magic of the other two. The last one hadn't done anything yet, so Venta kept an eye on him just in case he turned out to try and do something.
"Come on, Noelle-san, Asta-san, Magna. I'm sure you can see this is Compound Magic. Using the water and mist, the ice guys able to strengthen his technique and create more than he can on his own."
Gripping her sword, Asta swings her blade left and right, cutting through the ice as if it wasn't there. But one did manage to get through, and cut her right arm, causing her to wince. But she didn't give up and continued on.
Noelle stood with the townspeople, seeing some ice coming their way.
Creating some Sea Dragon's Waterballs, she shoots them off to intercept them.
Blasting them out of the air, Venta saw the last Mage finally take a step forward. Forming a flaming sabre in his hands, he shot forward and tried to attack Magna, who jumped back, and summoned his flaming bat.
"What the hell is this guy!?"
Venta furrowed his brows, and watched as he swung his sword at Magna, cleaving through the bat that he had.
"That guy seems a bit stronger than the others, maybe he's...no, it isn't like the cases beforehand. He isn't being powered up by whatever it was that powered up the others I've fought..."
While thinking about it, Asta was trying her best to keep the townspeople safe. She was going as fast as she could, negating the ice so it didn't get through.
"I thought you were Magic Knights, but you're jokes."
Heath said as he continued his barrage of ice.
Venta watched on, seeing Magna was being outclassed by the fire sabre user, and Asta was having trouble coming in with her swords, as the ice moved too fast, Noelle was also using her Magic to blast away the ice the best she could.
The fire sabre user then blasted Magna back with a swirling flame, before turning to Noelle.
She grabbed her wand, and aimed it towards the fire Mage.
"A wand? You still need it do you?"
Noelle scowled at the young man.
"Even if I do, it doesn't concern you."
Noelle formed waterballs, and shot them at the flame user. But he used his speed to begin dancing around the attacks. They crashed into the ground, smashing it up, but he still kept avoiding them and then placed his hand out.
Summoning his flames into a compact sphere, he swung his arm out, and fired off the sphere in a high speed attack.
Noelle gasped, and then summoned her water to block the attack, but the impact of the attack blasted Noelle away, forcing her down onto the ground.
The flame sabre user brought out his sword, and rushed for her.
Venta watched on, seeing Noelle grip her wand tightly.
It was clear that compared to a first battle with it being in front of others, and no danger, a battle that lives could be on the line, Venta could understand the insecurities that she would have that would accompany such a thing.
So he spoke up towards her.
"Noelle-san."
Noelle's eyes turned towards Venta.
"Y-Yeah?"
"I know this is your first major battle, with lives on the line, and that can cause some worry. So take a deep breath, and channel those emotions you have. You have the spell that can protect these people and stop him. Look at those around you, they're looking at you right now to protect them. That guy with fire, don't forget that water puts fire out. You're stronger than him Noelle-san, show him and everyone that."
His words began inspiring her.
Her eyes went around, towards the adults, the children.
Especially the children in Noelle's eyes, seeing the fear in their eyes as they were more helpless than the adults.
All them were looking on in fear right now.
She knew that she'd have to do something.
She couldn't always rely on others to bail her out.
"This is why Venta-kun isn't doing anything...he knows one day he or someone else wont be around to make up for our mistakes. What we do here now, matters. We have to take account for our actions, we are Magic Knights. Even Asta is moving, and fighting so hard, I wont back down now...I wont. I'm not weak anymore, I can control my Mana now, I can do this. Venta-kun, thank you...keep watching me."
Water surged around Noelle…
No, not just Noelle, but all around the townspeople as she took to her wand. Her Grimoire flew open, as the surging water began to form what looked like a giant dome of protective waters. Shooting rapidly, twisting like dangerous whirlpools in the air, all of it came together to form Noelle's spell.
"Water Creation Magic, Sea Dragon's Nest!"
Fully forming it, Venta could see the dome was comprised of multiple whirlpools of water. As the ice slammed into it, the whirlpools tore the ice apart, to the point that they couldn't keep their form, protecting the entire population around.
The same for the flaming attack that the fire Mage sent out. It simply vanished into a burst of steam, rendering it harmless all together.
"W-What the hell?"
The fire user demanded, and turned his fire sword onto it. Stabbing forward, he watched as the whirlpools took the fire sword out of his hands, and brought it into the twisting vortex that was the whirlpools, extinguishing his fire all together.
Venta smiled when seeing that.
He was proud of her, seeing that she was keeping her calm and doing what she needed to do.
"That's it Noelle-san, you've got it."
Noelle glanced back at Venta, and adopted a small smile.
She then turned towards Asta.
"Take him down, I've got the civilians safe!"
Asta's eyes shot open, then she grinned.
"Yeah! I've got this too! First, the fire sword guy!"
Asta turned, and shot for him. He created a flaming sword, and went to clash with Asta's own, but due to the Anti Magic, it simply cut through it as if it wasn't there at all, causing the man to jump away from Asta.
However, Noelle, in the middle of keeping her water dome active, placed her wand out, and gathered water at the tip then she shot off a sphere of water, clashing into the back of the man, propelling him forward as his focus was on Asta.
Asta brandished her large sword, and then swung it down towards the fire user, smashing the blade deep into the man's body, and cracked the ground below, rendering him unconscious.
Heath pulled back, stunned by what he had seen.
"No way...even if that's the case, I'm still the strongest here."
Heath used his ice, and formed crystal ice shields before him, as Asta run forward. Using the momentum of her movements, she swung her sword out, and cleaved through the ice, and the sword kept going for him.
Heath pulled back, and froze the ground, trapping Asta's feet.
"No!"
Asta brings her sword down, stabbing into the ice, and dispelling it around her after a few movements, but that was all the time that Heath needed, and he created a few spires of ice in the air, shooting them directly towards Asta.
Taking her large blade, she swung it out, and cleaved through them all, only for Heath to raise his hand and create a dome of ice in the air, aided by his two comrades, shot it down towards Asta within a hearts beat.
Asta looked up, seeing the size of the dome, as she moved her sword to intercept it.
When suddenly a number of fireballs shoot out from behind her, blasting the ice dome into nothingness.
"Asta! Don't worry, I've got your back!"
Magna said with a strong smile on his face.
As he did, Seihi looked back towards Magna, and his eyes fixated on the young man. Seeing how he was before, ruff and didn't think, and now showing his willingness to cooperate, and do what's necessary to protect the others.
"Magna...you have grown, haven't you?"
Seihi's words made Magna smile.
He looked towards the village leader, and then back to Asta.
Asta nods at Magna.
"Right Senpai!"
"Then lets go with the ceremony again, remember that?"
Venta laughed to himself, understanding what was going to happen now.
"It seems that they've got a plan Nero, think it will work?"
"Hmm, it seems that ice guy is more fixated on trying to destroy them than really think about how the fight is going to go. He probably will not be able to win this fight. And even if he did, it seems that he's developed a worry of you, so he isn't going to try anything hasty."
Venta nodded, petting the top of the birds head.
Asta then stomps onto the ground hard, and shoots for Heath at high speeds. Faster than even Heath predicted, he creates several blocks of ice within the air, before firing them off towards Asta again and again.
Asta didn't have to worry about those behind her, so she dodged a few, and cut down some others that came for her.
"No! Then I'll…."
He moved his hand to the ground to freeze her entirely like he did her feet beforehand.
However, when doing so, Asta remembered what happened, and leapt into the air as the ground froze. She then turned her blade down, and slashed through said ice, cutting it out of existence, and giving her a place to stand once more.
"That ain't gonna cut it!"
Asta continued on in one single bounce, shooting right for Heath who panicked at the impressive speeds Asta was going.
He let out a cry, and jumped in time to avoid Asta, who went flying by him.
As he did, Magna summoned his Magic around his form and created flaming spheres in the air.
"Fire Magic, Prison Kill Buckshot!"
Summoning multiple fireballs, Magna fired them at Heath, who grit his teeth as they came closer and closer.
"Ice Magic, Crystal Ice Shield!"
In the air, snowflake like ice shields formed, and began blocking the attacks that came for him. But when making contact with the ice, the fireballs exploded, and left traces of flames on the ground around Heath.
The ones that he didn't block went around him where Asta had positioned herself.
She didn't give the game away, and like she had done back in the ceremony, she turned her blade sideways and bounced the attacks right back towards the unsuspecting Heath, and his comrades that were stood close by.
Heath tried to freeze them, but they came in too fast, and smashed into their bodies. Burning through their clothes, Heath let out a cry of anguish as Asta began running forward.
"Don't mess with this village!"
Asta crosses the distance, and with one swing of her sword, she catches all three of the opponents up in the attack, and swung them up into the air. The hit from the blade itself caused all three to cough out bile.
They then began returning down to the ground, smashing into said ground, unconscious.
As they did, Magna moves forward, and uses his Magic to wrap flaming ropes around them.
"Good move Asta!"
"Yeah, you too!"
Asta said with less energy than before.
It seemed from the boars, to this fight, Asta was running out of steam, which Venta could understand since they had been doing a lot that day.
So he stood up, and walked towards her.
Getting before her, she collapsed into his arms, as he lifted her up, and held her bridal style within his arms.
He smiled down at her, as she smiled back up towards him.
"We did it, Venta-kun."
"You did Asta-san, you did very well. I'm very proud of you, and your actions today." His eyes went towards the other two present, seeing Noelle drop her giant water dome. "All of you did very well. I think this first mission has been truly successful."
Magna, Noelle and Asta all beam with their bright smiles.
Even Noelle, who usually wouldn't show such a smile in public, was showcasing such a smile, showing how she was slowly, but surely letting the walls around her down and giving her more of a chance to be able to be relaxed and calm.
Venta then looked towards Nero, who nodded, and flew off.
Without words being exchanged, the small anti bird manages to get towards the Magic Stone as Seihi walks up towards Magna, and they get into a conversation, as Venta begins doing some of the talks with the town to make sure that everything was okay.
"Magna, I hadn't realized that you had grown so much from when you became a Black Bull until now."
Magna looked slightly embarrassed as he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
"W-Well, I guess so! I do train you know?!"
"Yeah, I can see that. I wish that I had tried harder when I was young. If I have a regret, then it is that."
"Haha, what are you regretting old man?! Worried that I'm stronger than you are now?"
Seihi's eyebrow twitched.
"Listen boy, even if you've grown stronger, I still am stronger than you are."
Magna's eyebrow twitched this time.
"No way, I'm stronger than you are now!"
As they argued, Venta could see the pride within Seihi's face, and in his voice. Even when he was berating Magna, it was very clear that he was able to show his pride.
Venta thought it was a nice moment between the two of them as Venta continues on with doing a few of his duties, quickly using his Magic through the area, and fixing what had been damaged via his Gravity Magic, all the while waiting for Nero to come back.
Soon, he sees Heath's eyes beginning to open.
His eyes shift around, before focusing in on Venta, who bends down and meets eyes with him.
"Hello there."
"V-Vice Captain..."
Heath seemed scared.
He didn't want anything to happen.
"Yeah, that's me. Now that you've been defeated, I think it's time for some answers. Like your little group, what is it that you're after? Because I don't believe for a second you came here to just kill the townspeople."
Heath's face dropped when he heard that.
"No...I did come here for that reason..."
"I know you're lying, because I know what your objective is." Venta bent closer, and whispered in his ear. "The Magic Stones, right?" Heath's face painted a scared picture, as he began shaking heavily. "Now that's understood, you'll be coming back with me, and we'll be going to see if you can tell us what's going on."
As he said it, Heath weighed up the options.
He didn't want to be caught and forced to reveal the truth.
So, he began flexing his Mana, and his Magic ice began forming around him.
"This is odd, this doesn't feel like an ordinary spell...is there something inside of him?"
Venta went to do something, when he felt something from the right hand side.
It was a portal, and coming out of it was a giant wall of fire.
Noelle, Asta, and Magna's faces dropped, while Venta growled, placing Asta down, thrusted his hand up, creating a giant wall of gravity to block the attack, allowing the flames to dance around their forms.
"Have that."
He manipulated the gravity around said fire, as he saw something come out of the portal.
It was a man, a large man at that with beast like features.
"So you're the brat that's getting in the way?!"
The man that came out was Vetto, his arm brandished with Magic, and looked like a claw, so Venta bent the flames, and blasted them right back at this Vetto, the others were shocked since he was moving so fast, they barely could see.
"Wow! These flames are intense!"
Asta called out, while Noelle looked towards Heath, seeing he, and the others completely encased in ice.
"What's he doing Venta-kun?"
"He's killing himself."
Noelle's face dropped.
"Why? How?"
"This isn't an ordinary kind of self sacrifice. I have to conclude he's got some kind of device either strengthening his power, or more likely, is producing this kind of spell that would be a last ditch move in case they were to be caught."
"Horrible..."
Noelle murmured as Venta furrowed his brows.
Venta went to stop the self sacrifice of Heath when Vetto recovered from the flames, and stared down Venta.
Magna cracked his knuckles, but Venta held out his arm, seeing Heath die by his own Magic.
"Magna, don't."
"Eh? What's wrong?"
"This guys Mana's a lot higher than the ice guy, it feels Captain level, maybe even more. Let me handle this guy."
Magna gulped while Noelle looked on worried.
"Venta-kun...can you take this guy?"
"I've got some tricks up my sleeve Noelle-san, can you do me a favour and keep everyone else safe? Depending on how this goes, it could get messy."
Noelle smiled slightly, nodding.
"Yes, leave it to me."
"Thanks, I'll make sure this guy wont touch any of you."
When hearing that, Vetto laughed loudly.
"So, Gravity Mage, you think you can beat me do you?"
"Didn't say that, I said I wont let you touch any of these people here."
Venta spoke with conviction, as Vetto's eyebrows narrowed.
"You wont have much choice in what I do!"
As he said it, he caused his Mana to form large beast like arms, Noelle and Magna could feel the Mana and pulled back.
Venta then allowed his Magic to swirl around him, and the entire village began to shake, even surprising Vetto.
"We'll see about that."
As he said it, Venta heard a voice in his head, his Devil snickering.
"This guys got higher than normal levels of Mana for a being of this world, his Magic seems like Beast Magic to me. Whatever this guys deal is, kick this guys ass, and make him know the sting of Gravity!"
Venta gave bemused eyes to his Devils words.
Vetto growled, showcasing a dark expression.
"I don't care what she feels about you, you're too dangerous to be left alive!"
Venta tilts his head.
"Who's she?"
Vetto didn't answer, and shot off at high speeds for Venta, who activated his Magic, seeing the beast like claw coming in from the right, so he avoided it with a movement of his head.
While Venta avoided it, Vetto to swing his claw for Venta's body, who disappeared in a flash, even Vetto's eyes widened when he saw that, but then saw him from behind, so he turned and swung out for him again.
Venta paused, moments before being attacked, with the claw moving before his face, cutting through the air, and ripping some of the ground up.
"I just finished fixing that."
Venta murmured, as he clapped his hands together. The torn out ground came under his command and came together, then evenly was cut into several hundred tiny pieces, which then shot into the air, with Venta murmuring "Gravity Magic, Deadly Rain." as he motioned his fingers downwards, Vetto raised his hand and swung it up, cutting through some of the stone rain drops, but some moved fast, and some smashed against his body, causing small wounds to appear on his flesh.
Vetto grit his teeth, jumping back, as he watched the stones smash into the earth, tearing it up from the attack alone. Each little stone piece was like a bullet that weighed a good deal thanks to Venta's Magic, causing blunt force damage.
"Nice boy, nice!"
Vetto pushed Mana through his legs, and came at Venta in a barrage of sharp punches. Moving so fast that the air was being cut by the swinging of the fists.
"Wow...that's so fast..."
"D-Damn Vice Captain..."
"So this is Venta-kun fighting..."
Asta was astonished as she couldn't follow it with her eyes, nor could Magna and Noelle.
Venta saw it coming, and quickly avoided all of the punches as they shot across the village, each punch pushed Vetto forward, and Venta moved accordingly backwards, and kept avoiding the high barrage of punches that were tearing up the area with just the shockwaves that they produced to the high power that they had.
Only one attack managed to touch Venta, the claw went across his cheek, and drew some blood.
"You are a fast one."
"So are you kid. But if speeds all you've got, then you're not getting me!"
Smiling, Venta wiped his cheek, the blood on the back of his hand.
His blood then lift off his hand, and compressed, turning it into a small bullet, via his Gravity Magic, then he fired it off for Vetto, while swinging his fist out for Vetto's own, clashing together in a deadly smashing of their fists, the ground below them erupted, creating a large crater underneath the pair of them as the blood bullet sliced across Vetto's cheek, he managed to avoid the rest of it.
"Matching wounds now, haven't we?"
Venta said with a strong willed expression.
"Because you got a hit out on me, doesn't mean you're going to win! Now die you bastard!"
Vetto growled, and moved his hand, trying to grab Venta's fist, but he also moved his fingers, grappling Vetto's own hand with their fingers digging into the other's flesh and despite not having beast like claws, Venta's drew some blood from Vetto as did Vetto's in Venta's hand.
Vetto's other hand then came up to try and take Venta's head off, so Venta caught his hand, gritting his teeth, as did Vetto, their faces coming in close to one another, Vetto was smirking while Venta was smiling.
"Now this is a fight I've waited for!"
"But you aren't going full serious yet, are you?"
"Not by a long shot kid!"
"That's good, because neither am I!"
But then Venta moved his head back, before using Gravity Magic to augment his movements, smashing his forehead against Vetto's own, causing him to cry out in pain.
"Aah you shit!"
During that brief moment when he was distracted, Venta managed to grab his wrists once pushing his hands to the side, and pulled him down, as he bent his body so both his feet came smashing into Vetto's face using the momentum of the pulling of Vetto to assist in the damage he'd receive, with enough force to send him flying into the air, blood dripping out of his now broken nose, his rage building more and more.
Landing on the ground, Venta snapped his fingers, creating stone swords from the ground below, and with a movement of his hand, sent them towards Vetto who was still airborne.
"This kid ain't bad, I can see why our bosses got his eyes on this one."
As he began slicing through the stone swords, one stabbed into his right thigh, but he didn't pay any heed, ripping it out and threw it right back at Venta, who quickly moved his hand, causing the stone to break on its travel down, turn back around and fire off at Vetto once more in a barrage of tiny sharp stone pieces.
However, as it did, flames shot out of the portal, burning through them.
As that happened, Venta saw Nero flying back to him.
However, as she was, he saw immense flames exiting the portal, and shooting for Nero, bursts of flames erupting all around the bird, and burning everything around Nero as a flaming hand emerged from the fire to try and grab the stone.
Venta anticipated this, so before the flames touched Nero, a delayed spell activated, creating a dome of repelling force, knocking the flames away, while also sending them back at the flame Magic user themselves.
"Don't attack Nero."
As the flames came closer and closer, the flame user erupted with fire to combat it as Vetto landed on the ground.
Vetto went to move, when flames circulated him, and emerging from the portal, was the flame wielder herself. She wore a hood, so Venta couldn't see her face, probably something she did on purpose, but that only made him wonder why that was, if he somehow knew her and she didn't want him to know, otherwise he wasn't sure why she did that.
"What are you doing?"
"Our leader said not to confront him directly currently."
Fana dangerously said to Vetto but he showed an uncaring attitude.
"I don't care, this guys getting in our way, it's best to finish him off now! I am going to go full force now and kill him in a single blow, don't get in my way!"
Vetto angrily said, but Fana shook her head.
"I said no."
While speaking, dangerous flames erupted around her as Nero flew off into the distance to keep the Magic Stone out of their way.
Vetto glared at Fana who did the same thing.
"If you don't come with me, then I'll tell our leader, and you can explain why you decided to disobey him."
Vetto growled, and backed down.
"Lucky escape kid, next time I wont be so nice! Be ready, because I'm going to rip you apart!"
Vetto shot through the portal as Venta moved forward.
As he did, Fana's eyes glanced at him, before pulling out a bottle of some strange liquid, tossing it and then fired her flames at it, causing it to create a massive explosion that began ripping through the area.
That forced Venta to use his Gravity to surround the explosion, before shooting it off high into the sky, so it could safely explode away from the villagers.
As he did, Fana thought "That mad scientist did come in handy." as she looked towards Venta once more, her eyes laced with sadness, before she disappeared.
Once gone, Venta released a small breath. while Nero landed on his shoulder.
She produced the Magic Stone and dropped it into Venta's hand, who caught it and gazed at it with intrigued eyes.
"Geez, those two had high levels of Mana...aah well, it seems I drove them back."
"And protected the village from that huge explosion."
Nero added, Venta furrowed his brows.
"I'm not so sure that the explosion was meant to cause damage, at least to the civilians as she tossed it to an area that no one was in...strange..."
As he whispered it, Asta with renewed energy came running over.
"Future husband! That was amazing! You fought that beast guy, you were so fast, and both were so strong as well!"
Venta turned to Asta, and showed a smile.
"Thanks Asta-san, I'm sure you'll grow in power as you go on missions and train."
As he said it, Seihi pulls closer, and his eyes go towards the Magic Stone that Venta had gained from Nero.
"I see that your bird has found that treasure."

Venta went to go and explain about something's, when Seihi raised his hand.
"That stone, would that be acceptable as payment for what you've all done?"
Venta smiled, nodding.
"Yes, this would be perfect. Thank you very much."
Seihi waved his hand.
"No, thank you, all of you for helping in this time of need. And also, thank you for taking care of Magna. He can be rough around the edges, but he's got a good heart, and it seems that he is growing within the Black Bulls. Will you care for him in my absence and make sure he doesn't do anything too crazy?"
Venta laughed, seeing the embarrassed look on Magna's face.
"Of course, leave him with us, we'll make sure he smooth's those rough edges out."
Magna lets out a little cry, as Asta, and Noelle laugh.
Venta himself smiles, while thinking about what happened.
Vetto, and Fana, two very strong enemies.
But more than that, now that he had a second Magic Stone…
Maybe it would finally be possible to have Nero come back to herself, even if only for a small time...
He was going to try his best for her.

So this chapter focused on the first mission that Asta and Noelle went on, going through the wild boars, and going towards the village. Taking a back seat, Venta guided them as they did what they needed to do, and managed to finally get a second Magic Stone, so we'll be seeing how he uses that for Nero pretty soon! Fana and Vetto also came, with Vetto trying to kill Venta, but he managed to beat him back before Fana came in and stopped the fight. And Dorothy's taken Charlotte and is teaching her how to play cards against Yami.
