Because of this, people are afraid of him believe that he might be a villain himself. He is saved from this ostrictization by Izuku Midoriya, who believes that he can be a hero, despite his villainous-seeming quirk.

It didn't start when All Might told Izuku Midoriya that he couldn't be a hero. It started much earlier than that, when Hisashi Midoriya walked out on Inko, taking with him their four and a half year old son.
