Son of the Pit
Third Person
It was a fine night on the island of Delos. There was a soft breeze coming from the ocean around it. On the porch of a makeshift hut sat a beautiful lady, her brown hair hung low to the middle of her back and her eyes were a soft silver with a yellowish tint. On her lap were two young gods, around the age of 11 or 12, sleeping soundly. One of them had long silky auburn hair, while the other had blonde hair as bright as the sun. Artemis and Apollo. As the woman repeatedly stroked the hair of Artemis a stray tear fell from her beautiful silver eyes. She hadn't yet come to terms that one day her babies would be stripped from her arms and be thrown into the Greek world. Deep in thought the lady, Leto, didn't notice the winds gradually pick up and cracks starting to appear beneath her.
Suddenly, there was a small earthquake that shook Leto from her thoughts. An earthquake? Huh? That's new. She thought. Then there was another one but this one much larger as it almost threw her off of her chair. Looking down Leto noticed a pair of vibrant silver eyes looking up at her.
"Is everything alright, mommy?" asked young Artemis.
"Yes, my huntress. Everything is alright. Would you like to go inside to sle-" Leto was cut off by a piercing screech coming from the now rather large crack below her. The winds were now blowing harshly and black clouds could be seen forming around the island. A deep raspy voice could be heard from below her saying phrases like can't run for long and I'll find you.
"Uhg whaaa huh?" a groggy Apollo mumbled, jumping off Leto's lap and preparing for battle. Leto stared at the pit below her in shock as the deep voice rung in her head.
"Momma? W-what's wrong?" a distraught Artemis asked while tugging on her pant leg. But, Leto couldn't hear her over the pelting rains and cackling thunder. Leto pulled Artemis and Apollo by the arm and dragged them into the hut that looked like it was going to be ripped from the ground. As Leto reached for the door everything seemed to stop. The rain stopped falling, the lightning stopped flashing, and the winds stopped blowing.
All of a sudden a beaten and battered young boy with messy raven black hair was spat from the pit before closing up.

Percy (a few hours before)
I hated my life. I wish I hadn't been born into this life. What had I done in my past life to deserve this? I had just woken up from being unconscious after being beaten senseless by my father. I was chained to a wall when the door bust open showing the man of the hour, my dad.
"What do you want Tartarus?" I said distastefully.
"My, my, Perseus. Where are your manners? What have I taught you all these years?" Tartarus said with sarcasm dripping from his words.
"Nothing. All you do is beat me." I said through gritted teeth.
He clutched his heart and with feigned ignorance he said, "What are you talking about?" A sadistic smile formed on his face, "Now, it is time for your training session." I gulped. The training sessions were harsh. First, I had to run 20 laps around the arena with full body armor and no shoes. Next, I had weapons training with titans such as Pallas, Perses, and Iapetus. This usually involves lots of push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. I also had to have a one on one spar with all three of them before going against all three of them at once. Lastly, it was powers training with Nyx and Ahklys. I always looked forward to powers training because he was treated nicely by both of his aunts unlike how his father and the titans treated him. By the time that he was done with his training he would nearly pass out again.
Tartarus unhooked the chains from my wrists, grabbed the collar of my shirt, and started to drag me to the arena. When we got to the arena he threw me onto the ground before him.
"It's your lucky day, boy. Pallas, Perses, and Iapetus has some business to attend to, so you'll run 50 laps, do 5 sets of 300 push-ups, sit-ups, and pull ups. After that you will go straight to the library for powers training. Got it, boy?" Tartarus boomed as I got up.
"Yes, my lord." I mumbled. He punched me in the gut and swept my legs from underneath.
"Speak up! I can't hear you, boy." He yelled.
"Yes, my lord." I repeated but louder. At this he left but not before giving me another kick to the gut.

After my training in the arena I doused and dried myself in some water and made my way to the library. When he got to the library he expected to see Nyx and Ahklys waiting for him at the table, but instead he saw his aunts pacing around the room fiddling with the hems of their shirts nervously.
He made his way into the library and asked, "Err… Is everything alright?"
"Ahh, Perseus! You are here. So instead of powers training today… uh we'll be doing something special." Nyx said rather nervously.
"We uhh know how much you hate it here. So uhh we're going to break you out of here." Ahklys said hesitantly.
I said something intelligent along the lines of, "Uhhm, whaa?"
"We have crafted two pearls that allow you to open a pit from the mortal side of the world that you can escape from." Nyx stated proudly. She handed the one of the pearls to me and I stared at it in shock. I couldn't believe this, I had wanted this since my mortal mother died. I had wanted to see the ocean again, the stars, the moon, but most of all I wanted to have a family. But, I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave my aunts down here with Tartarus, knowing that once he finds out that I'm gone he's going to lock up and torture them.
"But, I can't just leave you two here." I said sadly.
"Ahh what loyalty, young one. This is why we've chosen to help you. You are a wonderful young man so caring, humble, loving, and so loyal to the ones you hold true to your heart, Perseus." Said Ahklys fondly.
"But, I ca-" I was cut off by the door being kicked down by Tartarus. Nyx and Ahklys stood protectively in front of me.
"HAND HIM OVER!" Screeched Tartarus.
"Perseus, crush the pearl with your foot and it will take you to the mortal world. Do not worry about us, young one. We will be fine." Nyx whispered.
"Thank you so much. I promise I will come back for you." With that he crushed the pearl under his foot but not before hearing his father say that he'll find me and bring me back one day.
So how was it? It was fun to write. I have so many ideas for this story. At the end of each chapter I'll put a fanfiction suggestion for you guys.
"The Queen's Champion" by Anaklusmos14 or basically anything by him.
