Two chapters uploaded in a night

I do not own the rights to either Merlin or Game of Thrones, this is purely just a fanfiction that has been floating around my head since 2012

Lyanna's day she had gone from feeling physically terrible to perfect happiness back to full blown sickness. Arthur had not left her side all day full of concern holding her hands, stroking her and embracing her when he had the opportunity.

A few hours had passed since Merlin's intrusion earlier in the afternoon, Lyanna's stomach was finally starting to feel calm once again.

Her mind was twirling with thoughts, she knew it was her duty to bare heirs, but she never dreamed after a few weeks or marriage that the court physician would already be confirming that she was going to have a child. She didn't even notice that her monthly cycles had stopped as they were not due until a few days' time.

She thought back to Arthur's face when she told him that she was with child, his child. He suddenly looked more mature than he had done 10 seconds before, stronger almost, if that was at all possible.

His immediate pause filled her with fear, she had no clue how he would react. No clue about how any man reacts! She had barely had a second to react herself before finding herself before the king's expectant look of desperation to find out if she was well.

"Do you think he will have emerald eyes like you? I think he will" Arthur spoke breaking what was a comfortable silence.

Lyanna dropped the piece of lace from her shift that she had been twisting in her fingers. "He?" she questioned. "You don't know if they are a boy or a girl".

Arthur pondered for a moment, "You are right, I don't know. I just assumed he is boy. Instinct" He grinned trying to show confidence showing his teeth in a childish smile.

"Would you be angry?" She asked looking down back at the lace, now anxiously twisting the material. He seemed bewildered at her question, "Lyanna,"He paused "Anna, of course I am not angry, why would I be angry. I am King with the finest most compassionate queen, with my heir already coming."

Her breath was taken away for a brief moment, he had never called her that before "Anna" that was the name only her family had used. A name specially created by Robb who couldn't say her name when they were very small.

Her brain shot back to reality "Angry I mean, if its not a boy?" She sheepishly placed a hand over her stomach though not a single inch of her body was yet out place.

Sympathy filled Arthur's expression. "Sweetheart." He pulled her closed, stroked through her now slightly matted hair. "I wouldn't be angry, as long as you and the baby are healthy and strong, it's all that matters to me"

Pain suddenly filled him, birthing him was what killed his mother. He smiled down at Lyanna hiding his true fears from his exterior. It had been an emotional day for both of them.

He slowly reached down and picked Lyanna gently off the ground into his strong arms, walked her over to their bed and placed her gently down. "Rest my love, I will find servants to tend to you to help you relax in a bath like Gaius suggested, we do not need to go to dinner. I am sure Merlin by now will have told half the castle you are not well." He chuckled at the last part of his sentence.

He didn't truly believe Merlin would utter a word of gossip about the queen, Merlin was a good friend really and was to be trusted.

Lyanna smiled back at her husband, shifted slightly and placed her head gently onto the pillows. She closed her eyes, the last thing she saw was Arthur moving a bucket close to the bed. "Just incase," he whispered and kissed her gently on the forehead and slipped out of the chamber.

Arthur beamed with joy as processed the events of the day in his head. He was thrilled Lyanna was going to be having a baby and so soon, he almost couldn't believe it. He was going to be a father. King Arthur, father to a future prince or princess. His heart swelled with pride and he allowed himself to daydream of a group of children wearing white, with strawberry blond hair following a very relaxed looking Lyanna around. It was a lovey image.

The first person he crossed paths with on his way to find servants was Sir Leon. It was a rare occasion to see both men together without their chainmail but here they stood. "Good afternoon Sire" Sir Leon greeted his king.

"Leon" he responded nodding his head at the curly knight.

"We haven't seen you today Sire, is everything well? The knight asked in genuine curiosity.

Arthur nodded, "As well as it could be, the queen is unwell at the moment could you let her family and court know that she will not be joining the banquet this evening, she needs to rest"

"Of course Sire, shall I send for Gaius my lord?" He furrowed his eyebrows with concern, he of course was commander of the queen's guard, however even guards cannot sickness he told himself mentally.

"No thank you Leon, Gaius has already been to visit her today and she will be quite well with time and rest I can assure you" The reality being that Arthur could neither guarantee her sickness would go with either time or rest, rather the court physician warned the queen she may be feeling like this quite often for quite some time, but with some luck it would eventually start to ease.

With that Sir Leon took his que to leave the king and follow the instructions that had been bestowed upon him.

As for Arthur he finally managed to request a bath be drawn up for Lyanna and some food to also be left for her while he attended dinner alone as to not cause alarm to the people of Camelot. It would give him a chance to sit with Robb and find out more about his wife's twin brother.

From what he had seen thus far he liked Robb but was deeply intrigued by him. He wanted to learn about the obvious strong bond he had with Lyanna, stronger than either shared with any of their other siblings, but first he had to go back and quickly change without disturbing his wife.

Lyanna was exactly where he had left her. He walked over to her peaceful form and placed a dingle hand over her stomach and held it there for a short while smiling, before changing his clothes and heading down to the great hall.
