1. Foreword

FOREWORD

In a way, writing this story is a bit like returning to my roots in fanfic writing. Amongst my first set of fanfics included an OC-centric Borderlands story, Hooked on a Feeling. It was, admittedly, written at a time when I didn't realise that an OC in a prominent role could be substituted with for a crossover character, or else an alternate version of a canon character. Between then and now, I had, admittedly, gotten over the Borderlands games, but now, I've experienced something of a renewed interest in the games, partly helped by the release of the third game, and the new lore, the new characters, and, perhaps most importantly in fanfic, a chance to expand on characters who weren't exactly well-used for the game's story.

This pairing isn't one I would have remotely considered before the third game, what with Tina being about 13-14 in her debut game and the DLC. However, with her appearing in the third game (her apt intro caption: All Grown Up, Still Crazy), I felt I could justify this. And after some considerable thought, I decided to set this a little over a year prior to the third game.

This will be a WBWL fic, one where Harry is raised by Zane Flynt. I chose Sir Hammerlock initially, but unfortunately, I didn't think a Harry raised by Hammerlock would quite be right for Tina, so I went with Zane Flynt instead. A shame, as I like Sir Hammerlock, and his story arc in the third game and its DLC campaign is rather lovely.

Before we start, I'd like to give a shout-out to both Arawn D Draven for being a patient sounding board, and KiloBeta, whose Harry Potter- Vault Hunter is the only other Harry/Tina fic on this site. The latter kindly gave me the go-ahead to do my own story where Harry is all but a Vault Hunter, and is paired with Tina when I PMed them to let them know what I intended.

Anyway, time for the usual disclaimers. Firstly, there will be spoilers for both Harry Potter and Borderlands. In addition, there will be significant bashing, particularly of James Potter.

Secondly, there will be heavy annotations, as is usual for my works. You have been warned.

Thirdly, this is an M-Rated work. There will be coarse language, violence, very dark themes and sexual references. Again, you have been warned.
