Greetings everyone!
This story is a bit of a fun one I wanted to do, I don't know if it will go anywhere, but I had just been playing around with this idea for a bit, anyways, to the details.
This takes place in FNAF 1 at the main location, as for the lore, I plan on going along pretty closely with the version of it that Matpat on Game Theory has come up with, though some things will be different, and it has to do with the ghosts. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know before hand.
(Hello, this is future me, returning to the past to talk to readers who have just started this story. Swear words are censored. I'm sorry if this bothers you, and I know this story does handle darker themes…(especially later on…) but, this is a personal choice of mine. The reasoning for having them? Well, to be honest I know my characters, and I know they would be saying them in these situations. I'm sorry if this bothers you, and if you choose not to read the story because of it, I understand. Thank you. Now to return to my angst filled present.)
FNAF belongs to Scott Cawthon, I only own the ocs I have.
I hope you enjoy!
Chapter one
There isn't really a choice...
When Leo had started working at the pizzeria he had been a waiter, only to be 'upgraded' to a day guard. Which was fine with him, he didn't have to wear that stupid apron anymore, and as a day guard he had more opportunities to sneak off for a smoke then he had as a waiter.
And those ***king trays were so hot, his hands found themselves relieved as well.
He would've been fine staying as the day guard. Sure, the kids were obnoxious, the robots creepy and the parents made him want to risk going back to jail.
The main reason he worked there though, was because the incompetent management didn't seem to mind his criminal record. He remembered the manager...John say something about it at least not being murder, which left Leo confused, but he was in the middle of a hangover so he may have misheard him.
However his career as Freddy Fazbear's day guard was short-lived.
When the night guard before him...mysteriously disappeared.
At least, that's what the contract all ordered them to say.
Leo didn't exactly know what happened to the man, he heard rumors from the waiters and the kitchen staff about the janitors finding...something in the back. However it had little to do with him so he didn't particularly care. For all he knew the guy could've been wasted in the back and management decided to fire him.
Idiot, why the ***l, would he drink on the job?
That's just asking to be fired.
However Leo quickly learned that it was his business when John called him into the office that day and told him it was much easier to get a day guard then a night guard and he was being transferred to the night shift. The man said it was because of his extraordinary work as the day guard.
Leo didn't believe a word of it.
He was mediocre at best, he was pretty sure more fights between the kids had started occurring during his tenure there.
But fine, he'd bite, he hated sleeping anyways so it wasn't that big of a deal. He spent most of his nights up anyways, at least now he would be earning money while doing it.
"You know...I'm willing to keep working during the day as well." The once day guard offered, John looked up from his papers confused.
"What?"
"I really need the money okay? I'm very...very broke. I'll even take half the wage I take now for the day shift." Leo continued, "plus...I rather like working here." He lied, he hoped the man would buy it, he did really need the money.
"I don't know...unions and all. I can't have you overworked." the man muttered and Leo sighed.
"But I offered. This way you also don't have to hire a day guard and train him." He pointed out still trying.
"But what if you get sick or...worse?" The man was rubbing his mouth with his thumb thoughtfully.
"I've never had a sick day before." That was...partially true. He kinda had to have a job in order to have a sick day.
"But if something happens to you I will need to hire and train two new employees."
"Give me a week. Okay? It will cost less for you, and you can start looking for candidates now. Ya know...just in case." In case of what? Leo didn't know, but the manager seemed very insistent.
"I don't know..." At that Leo sighed deeply and rubbed his face.
"Sir. I will last longer then a week, I won't take any sick days...and if something happens...I won't sue you." At that John's attention was on him.
"Can I get that in writing?"
And with that, Leo found himself working both the day and night shift, it would be exhausting, and probably terrible, but Leo didn't care. He needed the money.
He did however notice the looks the other staff had started giving him for the rest of the day after the announcement had been made. He had asked one of the people he had bothered to remember the name of...Jamie wasn't it?
Well maybe remembered was a bit of a stretch.
Jamie had told him that he couldn't disclose that information...at least within the restaurant.
With that ominous and annoyingly vague response, the high schooler...or maybe college student?
Leo couldn't be bothered to remember.
The young man had told him to meet him at Sally's diner just down the street and he would tell him what he knew.
Leo agreed, at the very least he would know what he was walking into, he just wished it wasn't Sally's, that place smelled too good.
When Leo walked into the diner, the little bell rung declaring his entrance, he glanced up at it vaguely irritated, but that was mostly because of the no smoking sign on the door. Stupid diners.
He spotted Jamie but mostly because the kid was waving him over, with a breath he shoved his hands in his pockets and went over. Leo didn't really like talking to people, for a multitude of reasons, but when Jamie stood up to greet him, he was reminded of one of them.
Jamie was about average height, but he towered over Leo, granted everyone did. His height was one of the many gifts his parents so generously left in his genes.
"Leo, I'm glad you could make it, I wasn't sure you would be coming." The younger man smiled fidgeting a bit, he held out a hand in greeting but at a look from Leo the kid dropped his hand and cleared his throat sitting down and motioning for Leo to do the same. With a breath the previous day guard did.
"This better not be something stupid Jamie, I've got one freakin' headache." His gaze drifted out the window, it was rush hour. Which still befuddled him, he had never thought smaller towns could have a rush hour…
Or how five more cars on the road could be considered rush hour.
He took a breath and turned back to the confused...teenager? Young man? It was hard to tell. "What is this about?"
Jamie nodded and took a breath shifting in his seat, he wrung his hands, something Leo had noticed the young man did a lot. "Um...well I guess I should just come out with it...the night guards...they don't just go...missing." The man hesitated through the sentence.
"Yeah figured that, so what happens to them? Does management fire them…?" He should at least know how touchy they were about substances, sure the job was annoying, but it was all he had.
Jamie looked up at him and let out a breath, "I sometimes forget that people outside of the town don't know about this..." At that Leo's brow furrowed.
"Know about what? Some being vague as ***k Jamie, what is going on?" He was slouched in his seat, hands in his pocket, but his eyes never left the young man.
"...well...they uh...they die." Jamie finally stammered out and Leo blinked staring at him a moment.
"I didn't think you'd have such rampant crime in this place." the new night guard muttered his brows furrowed.
"Heh...well no, not really, I mean who would want to rob that place? It doesn't even have updated menus." Leo nodded in agreement, he was pretty sure the soda stains on some of them go all the way back to the fifties.
"So, why do the guards die?" Leo pressed his gaze lifting back up to the boy.
"...the...the animatronics do it." The young man whispered, Leo stared at him before shaking his head.
"I'm sorry...what now? You mean those creaky old things on stage? How the ***l could they possibly kill someone? They don't even get off the stage!" He half debated just leaving, this was so stupid, kid probably heard some urban legends or whatever.
"No! No it's true!" Jamie insisted, their shouting caught the attention of the others and one of the waitresses was giving them a look that said 'shut up or you are out of here.' Leo resisted the urge to flip her off.
"It's true...I promise." The young man continued in a softer tone as he leaned closer. Leo eyed him skeptically, and the waiter sighed before rubbing his face. "I don't know how, and I don't know why, but they do okay? Look, they...they take you...and apparently they cram you inside one of the spare suits in the back...Sheryl found one of the previous guards one morning...it wasn't pretty." The teenager looked up at him earnestly, urging him to believe what he was saying.
"Okay, fine, say I believe these….robots come off their stage and stuff you into one of their spare bodies. Why tell me this? And why did we have to come here to do it?" Leo asked, his eyes flickering over the young man. Jamie rubbed the back of his neck looking down with a breath.
"Well...it's just, you remind me of my brother okay? I just...I felt like you should know...before you go in there tonight. It's not right what happened to the other guards...and maybe you have a better chance if you know? Or even the common sense to quit now...before anything...permanent happens." The kid finished in a whisper before taking a breath, "plus legally I shouldn't even be talking about this, people have lost their jobs there by talking about it."
"Fired? For talking about the fact that their fun little singing robots kill the person supposed to be protecting them at night? That's ***ked up..." He let out a breath rubbing his forehead.
"...look, I don't think you should go tonight." Jamie said in a soft voice, Leo looked at him between his fingers.
"I don't have much of a choice if I want to keep my job." He countered, voice muffled by his hands. Jamie leaned forward and held his hands together like he was begging.
"Please! I've seen this place go through too many night-guards! There are other places to work!" The young man pled and Leo gazed back at him lowering his hands slowly.
"Not for me." He didn't want to further elaborate, Jamie opened his mouth to press, but Leo narrowed his eyes a bit, daring him to. The younger man let out a breath running his hands up his face and into his hair. He took a deep breath.
"Okay...well, at least eat. You will be in for a long night." The waiter offered feebly. But Leo shook his head, shoving his hands back in his pocket.
"Haven't been paid yet." He got up and started heading to the door.
"Wait! I can pay!" The young man tried but Leo opened the door when he turned to look at him.
"Also I have allergies." With that he left.
Jamie sat down with a breath, he rubbed his face with a groan, "I'm sorry Mike...I tried to tell him..." he anxiously twisted the ring of the watch face of the wristwatch. Only to wince when he felt something wet, he bit his lip and looked down at his finger nervously.
...he must've missed some of the blood.
I hope you guys liked it! Lemme know what you think in reviews!
