26. Author's Note and Break

Hello, this is Perpetually Tired Hunter, I'm afraid my name has become more and more accurate as time has gone on. So, I'll be taking a break, not a HIATUS, but a brief break for my creative spark to come back. Might take a month or two, but I shouldn't take too long.

For now, I'll leave you guys with a couple of questions, my take on the KC situation, and the review responses:

Questions:

I have ideas regarding one-shots for The Grand Expedition. I say one-shots because I don't know any possible ways for them to occur. How would you guys feel to a side series?

How do you guys feel towards a break from the usual story structure? Meaning that the story would follow one side up to the end of their arc, while the other side will be told afterwards.

I have ideas for other stories, ones with much darker tones than The Grand Expedition. Would you guys like to see those, or would you rather I just work on my own IP? I have ideas for both, and depending on your guys' reaction I'll act accordingly.

Response to the KC situation:

To go over the KC and NewType situation; I would first like to address whether or not Newtype is guilty of what KC (supposedly because he can still be a fake) accused him of. The answer is yes, NewType did indeed break the rules regarding violence against mamono / monster girls, and KC has every right to take it down as the creator of the MGE IP.

Never mind the fact that copyright doesn't protect Fanfiction AT ALL, and that NewType's audience is guilty of harassing Omega E Reader for making a parody fic shitting on The Knight's main character, Ash. I want to come out and say that I think The Knight is an awfully written, self-indulgent, power fantasy, and that it was created at the expense of both its sources, MGE and Dark Souls.

Do I think it should be taken down, however? No, there is clearly a market for these kinds of stories, regardless of how disrespectful they are to their source material. Am I surprised that KC would want these kinds of stories taken down? No, The Knight borders on a hate fic with little to no accurate representation of MGE whatsoever. The only saving grace is that Sasha is at least relevant to the plot. Though she is just Ash's damsel in distress, despite being a veteran hero with many years of experience.

I also want to address the community reaction to this controversy. To make a long rant short: Everyone, pro and anti mamono / MGE, has acted like immature man children. The pros have done nothing but act disrespectful to NewType and his audience, and the antis have done nothing but act like fedora tipping edgelords. Both groups need to get over themselves, and get on with their lives.

NewType if you are reading this, please rewrite your story as a crossover with MGQ (Monster Girl Quest). It does not have the same fanfiction rulings as MGE, and you will be safe from a potential ban for reuploading your work. Regardless of my feelings toward your work and your following, I wish you good luck.

Thank you for the feedback! As for Druella, she is the villain of MGE overall, so her being a shipping option is kind of out of the question most of the time. I'll think about her potential partner later down the line if she becomes that much more prominent.

Dawn was marked by the Gore Magala and the Seregios events in MH4U not Fatalis. I'm just going to say that Dawn and Ace had only faced the Fatalis once. Breaker of the Wheel comes from Shagaru Magala, and I will explain the meaning soon. And his mentor, Reiner is not dead just crippled, you got the wrong idea there. The rest I will leave up in the air.

That's fair, but I'm still debating on how animalistic the uncanna are going to be. And regarding the Fatalis, it is a memory, and Dawn isn't wearing any Fatty armor, so it shouldn't have a hold over him.

I was going for arrogant Dragon among Dragons, but yeah bully works : D. And the Fatalis armor isn't cursed, it literally is Fatalis, so when Fatty does take over, you are actually being puppeteered by Fatalis. Also, I'm still hoping for Gore's return, and thanks for the complement.

I used Gold Rathain chest piece for Divine Blessing with Fatalis armor on everything else because I was a coward and used the plunder claw material cheese. As of now I can take him down with a good group, the solo challenge doesn't work too well if you're going for the Evil Eye though.
