He spat out several more rings of fire for the cheering kids, their eyes alight with excitement and satisfaction.
Orange burned red and red flames burned white as he swung his legs out before performing a few windmills that caused them to swirl around his feet before he turned his last kick into a flip, several spins, and then stuck the landing, his dark purple pants settling back down, his flames dispelling into rings around him, as applause and cheers erupted.
'Not a bad routine,' he considered as he bowed to the assortment of kids and adults who applauded his performance. "I hope you all enjoyed today," he said, fair skin and spiky black hair emphasized by the lowering sun.
Whistles sprung out and he chuckled before walking towards them, bare feet crunching the soft grass beneath them.
His Sharingan bled away, leaving his black eyes to see the green-haired boy, with a party hat on, running up to him.
"Obito-onii-chan!" He called out in awe, his peach skin and freckled cheeks raising in delight, his green eyes shining as Obito kneeled down to his level. "T-This is the best birthday ever!" The boy squealed.
Obito Uchiha, former Juubi jinchuuriki, mad man, and broken individual, chuckled at his younger brother, ruffling the boy's head of hair as he beamed in his red shirt and orange shorts.
His little brother by six or so years, Izuku Midoriya, an excitable eight-year-old boy whose birthday it currently was.
So, that made him Obito Midoriya, now.
Enjoying their time in their home's backyard, the boy's birthday had gone well with the former Uchiha performing for them if only to make Izuku's day, especially since he had a fascination with these things called quirks.
Quirks, if he had to find a good comparison, were forever evolving kekkei genkai, bloodline limits, that 80% of the world had and allowed for a big change in the culture.
A culture for heroes, people with quirks who decided to take up the job of being a role model for society, in general.
"I hope I can make many of your other birthdays better as well," Obito said with a nod before Izuku smiled and handed him his white shirt, the older sibling taking it with a nod. "Thanks," he said, putting it on, getting the odd 'awww' from some of the others here. "What?"
"An amazing turnout, Obi-kun," came the call from a woman who followed after Izuku. "I see, you've been practicing again, haven't you?" The long-green-haired woman said, smiling at him.
Her hair was tied at the back with a couple strands and had the rest falling beneath it down her back. Her skin was fair and clear and her eyes were as green as Izuku's.
Wearing a pink blouse, a white shirt, and a yellow skirt, her feet were covered by pink flip-flops as she crouched to Izuku's level.
"Thanks, I've simply been incorporating ways to enhance my quirk usage," Obito said and Izuku pouted at him. "Don't be like that, Izu."
"B-But you've got dad and mom's quirks! I-I don't understand why you don't want to be a hero," the boy said with a huffy tone.
"I'm fine with police work, young man," Obito said, crouching down as well.
"He's right, Izuku, not everyone wants to be a hero," their mother said and the boy's head fell with his shoulders. "Besides, aren't you training to be a hero?" She asked and his head popped back up, the boy's eyes widening before he nodded rapidly.
"Y-Yu-huh! Obito-nii has been helping me become one!" He said with a determined frown. "I'm gonna be a hero just like All Might!"
"You still think you can beat me, Deku?!" Came a young voice from behind them and Obito snorted. "You've gotta have a bit more gumption before ya beat me-ow! Dangit, old lady, don't just bonk me!"
"Who are you calling old, brat?!"
The three people who came up to them were old family friends of theirs, the Bakugou family.
The first had been the loud woman, Mitsuki Bakugou, mother one.
Mitsuki Bakugou was a fairly above-average in height woman with a fair complexion, slightly red eyes, and slightly shaggy platinum blonde hair that came down past her ears. Dressed in a yellow shirt, pink cardigan, and white capris that led down into white tennis shoes, her growl turned into a smile as she approached the three Midoriyas.
"I take it Hisashi is off to work again?" She asked as she ruffled her son's head of hair.
He had short hair in a similarly shaggy style of the same color while also sporting her skin and eye color. Wearing a small red hoodie and tan shorts, he growled at the woman.
"Oi! Don't treat me like that!" He said as Izuku smiled.
"Kacchan! I-I'm gonna become a hero just like All Might and no one can stop me!"
"Haa?!" Katsuki Bakugou made a loud sound as the man standing next to him chuckled. "Old man, do not act like we're equals! I'd beat Deku into the ground!"
Finally, the last man of the trio, father to Katsuki and husband to Mitsuki, was Masaru Bakugou.
Masaru was a middle-aged man of average height and build with fair skin who had short brown hair similar in style to his wife and son, a short mustache, and rectangular glasses.
Wearing a green shirt, black sweatpants, and no shoes, he chuckled at his son's competitive spirit.
"Now, now, Katsuki, that's not nice," Masaru said with a small smile before looking at Obito. "Your performances are getting better by leaps and bounds, Obito-kun, I'm sometimes surprised to think you don't want to be a hero."
"Right?!" Katsuki shouted, pointing at Obito dramatically. "Just become a hero already! I know you want to!"
"And the brat's back on that again," Mitsuki said as the two's mother giggled as she and Obito stood up. "How's it going, Inko?" She asked with a chuckle as Inko Midoriya beamed.
"Well, same as always. And, for your earlier question," she whispered quietly with a grin as Izuku was occupied with Katsuki. "He's coming home early today, I just got off the phone with him and he's already up the street."
The aggressive woman grinned as Masaru smiled.
Then Obito's ears perked and he smirked before patting Izuku's head. "Hey, Izu, close your eyes for a moment, alright?" He asked his brother who blinked before covering his orbs with his hands. "Hmph, give me 5 seconds," Obito said before pressing his fingers to his lips to keep Katsuki quiet.
The boy blinked before gawking at the sight of a familiar man who snuck into the yard and tip-toed over.
"Alright, open them!" Obito said and Izuku blinked, looking around in front of him. "Man, this present sure is hard to find."
The boy hummed before freezing at the hands on his shoulder… then he nearly squealed as a voice reached his ears.
"Yup but, man, I guess I come second-"
"DAD!" The boy turned and tackled the man. "Y-You're home early?!" He asked with wide shining eyes as Hisashi Midoriya rubbed his head of hair.
He was a man of above-average height, fair skin, and expressive black eyes. His hair was scraggy and similar in shape to his son's.
Wearing a white dress shirt, black slacks, and dress shoes, he grinned as he ruffled his son's hair.
Obito crossed his arms with a smirk as Inko giggled.
"Inko, I'm back," Hisashi said with a big grin as he and his son hugged it out, grins both the same. "I tried to cut it shorter but they needed emergency welding when I was leaving."
"No, I understand," she said with a grin. "Now, come on, Obito did make you a cake, Izu-kun."
"Cake?" Father and son said in unison as Obito and Inko snorted. "I like cake."
"Give me cake!" Katsuki declared as Mitsuki laughed and her husband grinned.
"That sounds lovely, all his food never fails," Masaru said as Obito chuckled.
The day came to an end several hours later, post a little quirk tournament that Obito held for the kids with Katsuki winning it all.
Of course, the prize got the boy's eyes shining as he held one of two All Might statues that caused his eyes to bug out.
"T-This is crazy cool!" He said as Izuku grinned with one of his own as they sat in the Midoriya home's living room. "W-Where'd ya get it?"
"Get it? I helped make those," Obito said and the two gaped at him before gushing over their statues. "I got it done for me by one of my classmates and did the drying and colors."
"The icy girl, um, Fuyumi, right?" Hisashi asked and Obito nodded.
"Fuyumi Todoroki, the daughter of the Number 2 Hero in all of Japan," Obito said with a huff. "And I'm pretty sure she hates me."
"I'm still not sure how that'd work," Mitsuki said with crossed arms. "Like, did ya do something? You try to woo her when weren't looking?" She asked with a smirk that his eyebrow twitched at.
"Obi-kun! You should have told your mother!" Inko said in shock as she looked at him while Hisashi began to laugh. "Y-You can talk with me! Girls can get complicated! We're a whole different species!"
"Are you allowed to say that?" Her husband asked as he wiped a tear from his eye. "Oh, God. Honey, Obito hasn't even spoken to this girl yet."
"Correct until recently," Obito said. "I was leaving summer school early to try and get it done and when my class heard about Izu's birthday, I guess she felt like doing it. She wants to be a teacher, after all."
"?" Obito blinked at the girl who looked down and away from him. "I'm sorry, Fuyumi-san?"
"J-Just… y-you said your little brother would want All Might sculptures, r-right?" She asked.
"Yes… Are you-"
"Yes! I-I am… j-just… please stay away from me," she said but Obito raised a brow at her lip biting. "I… I-I'll make them in the pottery room and you can take them home."
"Very well, thank you," he said and she looked up at him in… confusion? "?"
"..." She left with her books held to her chest and a shaky grin.
"That's honestly how she always interacts with me," Obito said and the group hummed. "I might have offended her but I wouldn't know when and how it could have developed into her hating me."
"Hmm…" Masaru cupped his chin. "Maybe she had a bad experience with someone with your quirk?" He suggested. "Maybe fire breathers, what with her natural weakness to them, hurt her in the past and she's traumatized. Oh… wait," he winced.
"Right, her older brother… he's not with them anymore," Hisashi said carefully, minding Izuku and Katsuki who were in their own little world. "It was a big fire too."
"... It's possible," Obito considered. 'She must hate the sight of it.'
"Well… I know!" Inko grinned and he raised a brow. "How about an 'I'm sorry for anything' cake?! Maybe some beef bowls and take it over to her family? Do you know what she likes?"
"... Ice Cream," Obito said with determined eyes, gaining the boys' attention. "Time to try making ice cream, I guess."
"Yes!" The kids cheered.

The following morning, Saturday morning, Obito Midoriya got off the city bus with a box in hand.
'Hopefully, this goes well,' he thought as he walked down the street.
Wearing a long-sleeved black shirt with a v-neck, purple pants that tied at his ankles, and black ninja sandals, personally made, he walked down the street, mindful of the heat that he could avoid.
The neighborhood of the Todorokis was, not surprisingly, very nice. He'd learned that Enji Todoroki had bought the land in this area because it was big enough and had a forest in the back of it.
'That must be an amazing training location,' he considered.
His family had a decently big backyard but nothing even comparable to the Todoroki estate and surrounding areas.
Walking for a few blocks, he found himself at the home itself and looked at the fence that came around its front before being covered by hedges from the corners towards the home itself.
It was a large home that was seemingly built like it had two levels of a large one-story apartment.
It had cream-colored walls, red roofs and shingles, and clear windows with a sort of second-floor balcony that surrounded that 'second level' he spoke of. Its front lawn was bright and healthy with several medium-sized stones that led up to the front door.
The gate of the fence had a buzzer on it and Obito tapped it with his knee.
It sounded at a decent octave before a feminine voice reached his ears.
-H-Hello?- Came a voice from the other side, a woman's voice. -Who is it?-
"Apologies for dropping by like this but I'm a classmate of Fuyumi-san's. I wanted to give her something for helping me yesterday," he answered and the woman made a curious sound.
-... Ah! I see, you mean those All Might clay statues?-
"Yes."
-Come in, please-
The gate buzzed and he opened it before passing through, the entry closing on its own.
Walking up to the door, he knocked on it when it did, the sound of someone moving inside the home gaining his attention.
"Please get it, Shouto."
"Y-Yes, mom!"
When the door opened, Obito blinked as he looked down at a boy that was clearly the same age as his younger sibling and Katsuki.
His eyes were big and blue while he bore peach skin. His hair was short and sat upon his head in its two-toned colors of white and red, perfectly divided down the middle of his head.
Wearing a light blue shirt and dark blue shorts, he blinked at Obito who hummed.
"You're Shouto-kun, right?" Obito said and the boy blinked before nodding. "Apologies, I was here to give this to your sister," the fire-breather said as he gestured to the box.
"Nice to meet you," the boy, Shouto Todoroki, bowed before looking at the box in interest. "What's in it?"
"Ice cream I made," Obito said and Shouto's eyes grew wide before he looked very intrigued. "It's fine if you have some but I did make it for your sister for when she helped me."
"I-I'll get her!" Shouto said, rushing off into the home. "N-Nee-san! Your friend's at the door!"
Watching the boy run off, Obito was left standing at the door before a woman came into view.
A white-haired woman with grey eyes and fair skin tilted her head at him, wearing a blue shirt and black pants as her white slippers brought her into the hall.
"I didn't know she had a boy friend," she made sure to separate the words properly, just in case. "Pleased to meet you," Rei Todoroki said with a smile.
"Good afternoon, ma'am," Obito said with a bow, mindful of his box. "I'm assuming Fuyumi-san is home?"
"She is, she was probably up in her room studying," Rei said with a smile before gesturing to the hall. "Please, come into the living room."
Getting there, Obito hummed as he saw a large space with a pair of three-seater couches, three recliners, and a good carpet on the floor. Ahead was a TV and, by the side, was a sliding door that led out into the front yard which was cordoned off by a set of hedges.
Getting to one of the couches, he turned to her.
"Actually, this was some ice cream," he said and chuckled at her interested look. "I take it all of you like ice cream?"
"W-We might," Rei blushed a bit. "And it should be fine, that box is a small cooler, right?"
Obito nodded, opening it up and Rei put her hands on the sides of the large cylinder container.
Ice plunked into it a bit more and she smiled as Obito nodded, closing the box up some more before holding it in his lap as he sat down on one of the couches.
"Tell me about yourself, Obito-kun, how do you know my daughter?" Rei asked, sitting down next to him. "Fuyumi never spoke of a male friend of hers."
"Oh, well, we're not friends," Obito said, surprising her a bit. "I think your daughter hates me-"
"We're back!" Shouto declared as he came into the hall. "?"
"We're in the living room," Rei announced but blinked at Obito. "Hates you? Why would she hate you-"
"We're here," Shouto said as he was followed by a teenage girl.
"!?" Fuyumi Todoroki froze upon seeing him.
She was a year younger than him, meaning she was fifteen, and sported most of her mother's, and little brother's, features like her skin, hair color, and gray eyes but her own head of hair was shorter and fell to chin-length while sporting several small red highlights randomly throughout her head of hair.
Wearing a white, thin, long-sleeved top and a black skirt, her eyes went wide behind her small glasses.
"W-Why are you here?" She asked nervously, hands clenching and unclenching as Obito sighed before coming over and giving her the box. "H-Huh?" Fuyumi blinked at it, looking up at Obito's eyes looked at her curiously before he nodded.
"I was just thanking you for helping me the other day," Obito answered simply as she took it involuntarily. "Take it easy, Fuyumi-san."
He made to leave and Fuyumi blinked at his back before swallowing.
"W-Wait," she said and he stopped, turned around, and raised a brow at her. "... I-I don't know how long it took you to get here… I-It'd be rude to send you away like that… I-I suppose," Fuyumi said unsurely.
"... Fuyumi-san if you're not happy with me being here, you don't need to force yourself."
"... I-I know," Fuyumi said with a frown, looking down at the box. "... B-But I should have also thanked you for helping make one for Shouto," she muttered but her brother heard it all the same.
"Y-You helped make the statue?" Shouto asked in awe as Obito rubbed the back of his head.
"All I did was heat it with my quirk," Obito said, surprising the two not in the know. "Apologies."
"... No, that's not fair to you, Obito-kun," Rei said as Fuyumi fidgeted a bit. "It'd be nice to know more about you."
"... I can breathe fire," Obito said, demonstrating by breathing out small balls of flames.
They swirled together before bursting out into the kanji for fire and fading away quickly enough.
Fuyumi stared at it.
"I call it, Flame Breathing Control, depending on how much air I use, how long I hold it, and a few mental commands, I can alter its property, shape, and temperature due to also having a bit of telekinetic control from my mother's quirk," he explained, Shouto's eyes widening.
"Y-You have two quirks, too?" The boy asked and his mother and sister grimaced while Obito tilted his head.
"In a manner of speaking, I guess," Obito said. "It's kind of like having two of them but I couldn't tell you if it was. It could all fall under pyrokinesis."
"... P-Pyroc-can…" The boy tried to pronounce it and Obito's let out a nervous laugh before crouching to the boy's level. "One at a time," he said, raising a finger so Shouto could focus. "Pyro."
"Pyro."
"Can."
"Can."
"Knee."
"Knee."
"Sis."
"Sis," Shouto repeated before tilting his head. "Pyro-can-knee-sis… Pyrokinesis!" He said with a grin as Obito snorted.
"You got it, I typically do this with my own younger brother and his friend. They're both actually your age, Shouto-kun," Obito said as the boy's eyes widened.
"R-Really?!"
"Yes," Obito said as he stood up. "Now, isn't there ice cream you want to eat?"
The boy and his sister rushed to the kitchen.
"W-What flavor is it?" Fuyumi said, peeking back into the living room at Obito.
"It's vanilla, this is the first time I've tried making something like this so I went basic," Obito said and Fuyumi and Rei looked at him in surprise. "?"
"Y-You made the ice cream?" Fuyumi asked in disbelief as Rei chuckled a bit.
"I normally cook and bake," Obito said as he walked out of the living room. "This was a new thing for me, as I said."
Fuyumi stared at him as he walked towards the sounds of opening drawers and clanking utensils.
"... Hm, hm, hm," Rei chuckled a bit, gaining her daughter's attention. "I guess he's a bit more interesting than you knew, hm?"
Fuyumi blushed.
Obito nodded as Shouto smiled.
"How does it taste? As I said, this is a first for me, so let me know if anything's off," he said to the three.
"I-It's amazing!" Rei said with a smile as Shouto kept scarfing down his food. "Take your time, Shouto."
"Y-Yes, mom," he said, slowing down. "Mmm! I-It's really nice, Midoriya-san!" Shouto said, swallowing and smiling like the young boy he was.
"I'm glad. The only people who could tell me otherwise were Izuku and Katsuki," Obito said and Shouto looked curious. "That's my brother and his friend, respectively. Thankfully, even our parents were able to help out."
"I take it you do this often?" Rei asked. "You said you cook and bake?"
"I like cooking, it's a nice and calming hobby," Obito said as Fuyumi's eyes flickered to him before going back to her food. "Making ice cream was apparent since I remembered Fuyumi-san saying she like it in her class introduction," she blinked bright red as Rei wore a small smile.
It contained so much smug the girl felt like imploding.
"Is. That. So?" Rei said with emphasis. "I'm glad she has classmates such as yourself. Nice, observant, young men like yourself make our lives simpler."
Shouto blinked at his red-faced sister before humming and eating more.
Weird.
When the three finished what he'd actually brought, Obito chuckled before taking up their dishes and cleaning them in their sink.
"W-Wait, I mean, I can do it!" Rei tried to insist but Obito shook his head.
"It's fine, take your time and relax," Obito said before cleaning the plates in super-fast fashion before using his flame breathing skills to dry them with ease. "See?"
Rei held her cheek with a small pout before shooting her daughter a look that Fuyumi stammered at.
"I-I'm going to go back upstairs!" She said, rushing out of the room. "... T-Thanks… I guess," Fuyumi said, hesitating by the entrance of the kitchen and shooting Obito a look of thanks before rushing off.
"You're welcome," he said as he dried his hands with his flames, much to Shouto's fascination.
"You don't burn, too?" He asked, causing fire to move around his left hand. "I-I don't get hurt by fire… really, at all," Shouto said as Obito hummed while Rei grimaced.
"It's because quirks, on some level, change us, Shouto," she said with a sigh. "Like your father, he overheats but doesn't really burn."
"R-Really?" Shouto said before looking at his hands, bringing up his other hand, and ice shot down the limb. "B-But I can get super warm and cold," he explained to Obito who nodded.
"You've been given a gift by your parents to protect you," he said as Rei's eyes widened before she looked down in thought. "Your two halves protect you, whether or not you want them, they will save your life, and many others, one day."
The boy's eyes widened at him before they dipped in gaze. "B-But I don't like working as hard on them as I do," he said and Rei grimaced while Obito frowned. "... I don't want to."
"..." So, Obito had a feeling that there might have been an outside force in the form of Enji Todoroki in this whole mess. "... Let me explain something, Shouto-kun," he said, crouching down to the boy's level. "There are ways around everything even if we haven't found them yet. Perhaps, you're approaching your problems in the wrong way… hmm, have you tried reverse psychology," Obito said outright, Rei's eyes widening at him as he looked at her.
He nodded and she clenched the fabric of her pants.
"I-I don't know what that word means," the boy said and Obito nodded.
"Hmm, it's better if you don't use it, just in case," Obito said. "So, for example, humans are odd beings who can find themselves stuck in a path due to how their experiences shape them… so, for example, a person scared of fire will never touch a stove and likely only ever use microwaves for the entirety of their life. If you can show them that the fire can do so many things for them, show them a different way of viewing it."
"... I-I think I get it," Shouto said with a frown. "B-But what if they think it's too good?"
"... That, young man, is going to be difficult… but why do they think that?" Obito considered. "Getting to the bottom of all issues can typically shed some light on a problem."
"... Light doesn't shed… snakes do."
"... Yes, they do," Obito said as Rei found the energy to smile and laugh. "What I'm trying to say is, you might just need to turn your thinking around, it's possible. For example, just turn everything you dislike into your advantage."
"... I think I know those words, too," the boy said and Obito nodded. "A-Alright, Obito-nii-san, I-I wanna try."
"That's good… wait, 'nii-san'?" Obito considered with a look of confusion as Rei chuckled.
"Y-Yes, a-am I not supposed to?"
"... Call me what you want, Shouto-kun," Obito said with a shrug, ruffling the boy's head of hair. "Alright, I'll take my leave," he said with a nod.
"Y-You're going to come back, right?" The boy asked with some nervousness and Obito rubbed the back of his head.
"If your sister is fine with it, I don't mind."
"Yay!"
Rei smiled at that. '... Had Toya been around… I wonder if he'd be the same with him?' Then she remembered those times and her good mood became hard to keep up. 'He's in there again,' she knew Enji would be.
He almost always ended up in that room on Saturdays after work.
"Then how about I show you something?" Obito said to the boy who nodded. "I don't really know how your flame control works but I can change the temperature of mine like I said," he said before breathing in deeply.
Then he breathed out and a white ball of fire came out of his mouth and came to a stop in between them.
Shouto observed the glowing white orb in awe, reaching out to it before Obito raised a hand.
"Put your hand on fire," Obito said and the boy blinked before doing as much. "Now try and touch it."
He did, Shouto's eyes widened in fascination as he held the glowing white orb.
"I can manage two kinds of temperature with my flames. Perhaps you can, too. Feel it out, you should be able to tell the difference in your flames and mine."
Shouto tried with his mind but pouted at the fire. "I-I can't…"
"It's not life or death, Shouto-kun, I just want to see if you can't emulate my flames' properties," Obito said as the white fire fell away. "A better idea, when you conjure your flames, Shouto, think of a big pipe, alright?" The boy nodded. "No, your flames are the pipe, imagine it getting smaller until it's a straw."
Blue eyes widened and he looked down at his left hand and focused.
'Big pipe to straw!' He told himself and concentrated.
Rei blinked at the sight of her son's typical orange fire beginning to get white on the barest edges of his arm before it fell away as he gasped a bit.
"T-That's hard."
"It's fine but now you have the mental image," Obito said. "Training physically, while helpful, isn't everything. When you train your body, you need to also train your mind," he explained. "Getting creative, Shouto-kun. Like the pipe to straw idea, you just need to find ways that work for you."
"... O-Okay!" Shouto said with a determined frown and pumped fist. "I-I will, sensei!"
"Whoa, now, I'm really not-"
"But you teach me things… A-And you're not my brother so aren't those people teachers?" Shouto asked and Obito wore a shaky grin as Rei giggled a bit.
"I mean… While you're on the right track, that's not the full thing…" Obito noted how confused he was. "... You know what, sure, like I said, call me what you want."
"Alright!"
"Later, Todoroki-san, Shouto-kun," Obito said with a nod, leaving the residence.
"... Mm, kaa-san, is he Fuyumi's boyfriend?" Shouto asked and Rei snorted.
"N-No, Shou-kun, Obito-kun is… a friend of Fuyumi."
"Mm."
~NRK~
The following Sunday, Obito and his family trained in one of the Quirk Coliseums.
These places were made for quirk users, who might not even be heroes, to practice their quirks without the issues of needing a license nor causing damage in public.
It was a big, spherical, building that had a square front with its title on it and the sphere was made of light blue glass that they could see a few other people flying in.
Wearing green sweatpants, sweatshirts, and white sneakers, the family of four moved in with Obito taking the lead.
"You know, the more people see you here, the more they're going to wonder if you're going to be a hero or not," Hisashi said as Obito shrugged. "My boy, I'm honestly curious why you don't want to be a hero. I know you don't have to want to, that's common sense, but I'm wondering if you were ever curious about it."
"... I just don't want to, really," Obito said. "Hero life is not one I'd want to go through," he said simply and his parents nodded but his brother still pouted. "I've said it before, Izu, if you ever want to talk about it, I'm here."
"Mmm," the boy pouted and Obito smirked before ruffling his hair.
They signed in at the front and moved down a hall that led them into an open area that was alight with explosions, electricity, and other elements with ruckuses emanating from everywhere.
"I guess the newest hero candidates are making the most of the rest of the Summer," Obito said as he led his family elsewhere. "Now, where can I-"
"Hold on… Yo, Obito-senpai!" Came a voice from the group's side and they turned to note a girl Obito's age running up to them. "Hehe~ Long time no see, senpai!"
She was a short girl with short dark blue hair, similar-colored eyes, and light blue skin. Wearing a yellow headband, she was also wearing a white tank top, yellow shorts, and white boots.
"Kaoruko-san?" Obito realized but she pouted, getting a groan and roll of the eyes out of the reincarnated man. "Kaoruko-chan."
"Hehe~" Kaoruko grinned. "Nice to see you kept your sense of humor."
"Never had one."
"Exactly," she said with bubbly energy before grinning more as she heard Hisashi's chuckles. "Hmm… Ah, right, you're his family, right?" Kaoruko noted with a giggle and a bow. "Nice to meet you, name's Kaoruko Awata, I was Obito-senpai's classmate."
"... Wait but you call him 'senpai'?" Izuku asked and she grinned.
"He's older than me so I gotta be prepared," she said with a determined smile. "Though it's kind of sad that it won't be as heroes, he'll still be an officer of the law! I'm sure we'll work together on super-secret cases that'd turn the world around."
"Hm, hm, pleased to meet you, I'm Inko Midoriya," Inko introduced as Hisashi grinned and jabbed his thumb at his chest.
"Name's Hisashi Midoriya, husband to this beautiful woman next to me," Inko blushed a nice pink at his words. "And father to these two wonders," Hisashi said with pride as he gestured to his sons.
"I-I'm Izuku," Izuku introduced himself and Kaoruko chuckled, crouching to his level.
"Whelp, I can at least crouch to your level, everyone's a giant, aren't they?" She said faux-secretly to the boy who nodded.
"Y-Yea, nii-san's already taller than mom, it's scary."
Obito sweatdropped as his parents laughed.
"Hehe~ Come on! We were practicing over here!" The girl said as she grinned and led the way. "Man, senpai, how are things going with summer school?"
"Hmph, I'm doing fine, we just had my brother's birthday party on Friday," Obito said and she groaned.
"You should have told me! We have Facebook, senpai, we could have all come over and started using our quirks!" Kaoruko said with a tutting finger as Izuku's eyes shined. "See, he'd have loved it."
"I know he does, Izuku's quirk hobby is vast and well-detailed. That said, I performed a fire show with tiki torches and things went well."
"I would have paid to see that!" She whined once more before waving down the group of students they were approaching. "Guys, it's senpai! And he's being flat again!"
"Flat? Excuse me?"
"Hm, hm, I'm sure she means well," said a decently tall girl with three snakes for hair. "How's life, Obito-kun?"
"Fine, Yoha-senpai."
Yoha Hebi was a fair-skinned UA Hero student who'd come from their school. Her eyes were a strong gold that bore slit-shaped pupils while her hair was a sandy blonde with two short bangs and those three snakes he'd spoken of earlier.
Wearing a similar outfit to Kaoruko but in green, she smiled at Obito before bowing to his family.
"Wait… No way, it really is him!" Came a blonde girl from beside Hebi, her mouth dropping at the sight of him. "Did you finally decide to become a hero?! Please tell me you did! We could be a whole team!"
As said before, she had long platinum blonde hair that fell down to the middle of her back, fair skin, and blue eyes.
She dressed the same as her fellow females but with blue for its accents.
"No, I'm not going to become a hero, Yu-san," Obito said and she slumped. "The fact remains, everyone should know how to protect themselves to the best of their abilities, in my eyes."
"It's an odd philosophy covered by truth," Yoha said with a wave of her hands. "Isn't it dangerous for people to be so trained even when not in a job where it's necessary?"
"Should that stop people from doing everything they're allowed inside the law?" Obito asked back and she hummed, arms crossing and her head tilting in thought. "The fact remains that we shouldn't try and tell others they're only supposed to stay weak, that won't help anything, it'll only breed resentment."
"... Not wrong," she said in thought. "I just think you should understand that your ideology can cause problems."
"I understand, senpai, but I don't think we can just say odd occasions make a system unusable," Obito rebuffed and she nodded twice before grinning.
"You're still as sharp as always," the snake woman said with a chuckle as Yu nodded while Kaoruko groaned. "Now, I believe introductions are in order."
"This is my mother, father, and brother," Obito said, pointing to Inko, Hisashi, and Izuku in that order. "You all, these are a few of my classmates, and a former classmate, Kaoruko, Yu, and Yoha-senpai."
"Hello, again," Kaoruko said.
"Your Obito-kun's fam?" Yu wondered. "Hmm, talk about lots of green."
"A pleasure," Yoha said with a smile. "Now, I believe we're here to train," she said. "Do you all already have a routine? Or is that a stupid question with Obito-kun around?"
"Let me guess, he's helped you all come up with some?" Hisashi asked and Kaoruko grinned.
"Yep! Obito-senpai seems so good at this coaching thing, I was almost sure he'd try to become a teacher!" She said as Obito grunted. "Turns out, that wasn't in the cards."
"So, it seems," Inko said with a smile that Obito's eyebrow twitched at. "Well, time to train, my son!"
Hisashi chuckled nervously while Izuku had the same energy as his mother.
Obito found his need to ignore her immense. "Alright, you know what we're supposed to do, come on," he said simply, hoping she would be too tired to talk.
Too much to hope for, he guessed.
As it turned out, the girls had actually just got there so they were fully able to join them in their exercise routine.
Goody good for him.
"So, how did you all meet?" Inko asked him and Obito groaned as they stretched, he simply pulled the short straw. "Come now, it's a harmless question."
'Which typically leads to painful answers,' Obito thought. "School projects," he said. "I ever since, they never left me alone."
"Oi!" Yu spoke up. "That's not true!"
"Well, for us, anywhere," Yoha said as the other blonde blushed. "Yu, on the other hand, man you'd think she wanted him as a project pet."
"Y-Yoha!"
"Mmm, no, that's pretty true," Kaoruko said with a grin as Yu blushed to harsh extremes. "Hehehe~ You're so easy to tease, you know that, right?"
"You guys suck," the girl grumbled, blowing a bang out her face with a huff.
"Hm, hm, yeah, my boy's pretty good at organizing work," Hisashi said with a sweatdrop. "It's kind of scary, he once gave me an idea for some things on my job… and it worked, I don't think he's let me live it down."
"I have no idea what you're talking about," Obito said and Hisashi whined, much to Inko's amusement. "Nothing at all."
"My son betrays me?!"
"Depends," Kaoruko said with a lazy-eyed grin. "Senpai always seems like he's a businessman with purpose! He's onto the next thing, next part of a project, next class, like an oiled machine."
"Punctuality isn't a bad thing, Kaoruko-san."
"Eh, eh, '-chan'."
"... Depends."
"See?!"
"Nii-san is always productive," Izuku said, face scrunching up at the word. "P-Productive…"
"It's correct, Izu," Inko said and the boy smiled.
"Yes! Nii-san's always thinking, I want to do that one day," the boy said as the three girls choked on their breath along with Hisashi.
"R-Right!" Kaoruko said with a big grin. "Hehe~ Ain't that right, Obito-senpai?"
"Hmph, who knows, can you do it, Kaoruko-san?" Obito shot back with a snort and smirk that she grinned widely at.
"Yes! Snark is the best response from you!"
"Saving my breath."
"As always, his wit is astounding," Yoha said with a chuckle. "Now, what's next?"
"We're done with the physical so it's time for the mental," Obito explained, gaining curious hums from his former classmates. "Now, I spoke about this recently with Fuyumi-san's little brother-"
"Wait, hold up!" Yu choked. "Fuyumi's little bro? Excuse me, are you saying you met him?"
"Yes…?"
"Did you meet them in the park?" Kaoruko wondered and Obito raised a brow.
"No, she helped me with something and I made her some ice cream as a 'thank you' gift," Obito elaborated the three gaped at him. "It's nothing important-"
"It kind of super is!" Yu said. "You gave Fuyu-chan a whole gift and that's not important?!"
"... Yes?"
"Senpai, you've gotta work on your awareness," Kaoruko said. "We're a whole different creature in times like that."
"... What?" Obito was confused. "What in the world are you talking about?"
"My son, let me explain," Hisashi said as Inko chuckled. "Women and men are a whole different set of beings when it comes to gifts."
"... Okay?" Obito said unsurely and Hisashi hummed curiously. "I don't follow."
"I'm noticing that this is where your weaknesses lay," he said with a nod that Obito blinked at. "... Nah, don't worry about it. Trust me, these kinds of things take time."
"I don't… What are we talking about?"
"It's a matter of little importance, I suppose," Yoha said with a smile. "For now, you were saying about our routines?" She said with battering eyelashes.
Obito's eyebrow ticked before he breathed in through his nose and grunted.
"Right… I explained to him how imagination can come into play with his quirk," Obito said and she nodded.
"We've been explained to as much. Using your quirk in a different way from its base can give you a whole new power set," she said and Obito nodded.
"Right but this was a bit more… metaphysical, I suppose," she blinked and he nodded. "For example, I was giving him the idea of concentrating his flames with the idea of a pipe shrinking into a straw, condensing, as it were."
"Huh, I guess if you learn to funnel it, he could make powerful flames," Kaoruko considered. "Though, this kind of advice would probably only work with energy-based quirks."
"Not untrue but I'm sure we can find something for everyone," Obito said. "For example, Yoha, have you ever just blindfolded yourself for a day and used your snakes as your 'sight', so to speak, for it?"
"E-Eh?" She blinked. "W-Well, I typically get training at the school where I'd wear one and determine what's around me."
"Right but actually moving yourself, doing your routine, that can add a differing experience while giving you a real-life one. Maybe go to a park, with someone, and try to navigate your way through a forest."
"... Well… I don't think it'd be a bad idea," she said.
"Kaoruko, you should try to see if you can apply smells to your bubbles that could have a worse effect on your opponents. For example, could you try sleeping gas?" Obito considered and she blinked.
"Uh, well, I don't think sleeping gas is a smell, ya know?" Kaoruko said with a hum. "I mean, for me, it'd have to be a pretty strong smell that won't just screw me over in the long run."
"So, yes, paint is out the question," she nervously smiled at his words. "Well… Bleach," Obito said and she blinked.
"W-Well… I guess that wouldn't be the worst thing, I know the idea of bleach shooting up your nose can be bad."
"Hmph," Obito turned to the grinning Yu. "... You can't do one of your limbs at a time, can you?"
"Nope, it's all or nothing," the normal blonde said. "Thing is, there's not much you can do with my quirk despite how flashy it is."
"Then work on what you can. For example, growing and shrinking speed," Obito said. "You can reach a limit, so you've told me, so you need to find a speed that you can do without issue that's still effective."
"Gotcha, anything else?"
"Learn spatial awareness."
"Gotcha, chief!"
"Heh, so, my boy, what do you have for your mother and I? I know you'll be handling Izu's training," Hisashi asked.
"Well, for you, father, remember that Flame Bullet?"
"Gotcha."
"Mother, try pulling in small material and forming it around your forearm. Instant armor would be a good emergency skill."
"I see, I see," Inko smiled.
"Come, Izuku," Obito said, him and his brother walking a distance away. "Now, let's go over what you've gotten ahold of: Taijutsu."
The boy nodded eagerly.
Obito stood a bit away from him before nodding. "Go."
The boy rushed him before Obito slapped away several palm strikes and kicks that the boy threw at him. "Good, good, sharper, Izuku. Don't let me slap your hits away," Obito said before stepping in, grabbing the boy's fist, and flipping him overhead. "And watch your space."
Izuku barely righted himself to land on his feet. "Y-Yes!" He answered before rushing his sibling once more. "Again, please!"
The two parents chuckled or grinned at the young boy's fire.
"Huh, the kid's pretty decent," Yoha said as she watched Izuku go through a slow but fluid combo that ended with him in the air and his shin blocked by Obito's forearm. "Whhheeeww, forget decent, he's good. The heck, I'm guessing Obito trained him?" She asked the two.
"Yes, due to Izu's quirkless status, Obito decided to give him as many advantages as possible," Hisashi said. "Obito, as you know, is a hell of a teacher, he's not unfit for both Izu-Izu's inspiration and tutelage."
"I take it he's been a big part of his life," Kaoruko said. "Like, what did Izu want to be before all of this?"
"Oh, no, Izuku always wanted to be a hero," Inko said with a soft smile. "Especially because of All Might."
"Man, that guy really does inspire a ton of kids," Yoha said with a nervous giggle. "I sometimes worry if All Might will inspire the wrong person one of these days."
"Hey! Fame doesn't mean you control what people do!" Yu said with crossed arms. "We're just really cool!"
"I can't wait for you to get into UA," Yoha said with a widening grin. "God, Aizawa-sensei's gonna ruin you."
"W-What's that supposed to mean?" Yu asked as she paled. "Y-Yoha-chan. Come on~ Be a pal… Am I going to die?!"
"Hm, hm, hm, sounds like UA is, surprise, tough!" Kaoruko said in fake disbelief. "Why, I thought the best hero school in Japan would be EASY! Man, I was wrong."
"Sarcasm is bad for your skin, Kao-chan."
"So is lying to ourselves," the literal bubble girl said as several of the 'soapy' objects slipped out of her exposed skin. "Now, go over there and start being a balloon~," Kaoruko said with a sly smirk as the blonde gaped at her.
"That's low, Kao!"
"Hehehehe."
Inko wore a serene smile as her husband chuckled nervously.
'Izu, never let your mother know you've got tons of female friends, she'll never let you live it down,' he considered as he coughed off to the side.
Izuku gasped for a bit before greedily drinking his water, sitting atop his brother's back as the older boy did push-ups.
Half-naked, Obito kept going before having Izuku hold one of his arms as he went in for one-armed push-ups.
"Man, look at him go," Yu said, sipping on some water before she tilted her head just a bit. "Mmm."
"Control yourself," Kaoruko said with a laugh as she sat cross-legged on the floor. "I mean, I get it but, seriously, his fam's right here."
"No, please, go on," Inko said with a grin as Hisashi let out a bark of laughter. "You're young women, I can't very well tell you I didn't go through the same phases," she said innocently.
"We're talking about your son," Yoha said with a sweatdrop as Inko shrugged.
"As long as it's not illicit, that's not really an issue," she said.
"Man, I get you," Yu said with a grin as Hisashi chuckled. "Ain't nothing wrong with appreciating our friend's… efforts," she said with a grin as she waved at Obito. "Doing great, dude! Try some handstand push-ups!"
Obito raised a brow at her before shrugging and saying something to his brother.
Then he jerked up, sending Izuku flying, before flipping onto his hands, the boy landing slightly shakily on his brother's bare feet.
"... Good God, he's fit," Yoha said outright with a blush, hiding her face from Inko. "N-Not saying anything… ma'am."
"Oh, please, call me 'Inko'."
"I'm fine!"
"... Hehehehehe," Kaoruko giggled with red across her cheeks. "Like, damn boy, where'd this come from?"
Hisashi wore a shaky grin. 'Were girls always so direct?' Last he remembered, he and Inko had such an innocent, rosy, romance. '... Wait, no, she sniffed me out, yeah?' He considered with some horror as he looked at his wife. 'My sons! You're in danger!'
Lord knows he couldn't do a damn thing about it.
~NRK~
Leaving the Mustafu Quirk Coliseum, the group walked off to a nearby cafe.
"So, senpai, you are still going into the police force after graduating high school, right?" Kaoruko asked him and Obito nodded.
"I've got an internship, actually, in August, so next month," Obito said with a roll of the neck. "I went to a job fair and took a test with a detective by the name Naomasa. He said he'd want to see me in the field and sent a letter to our middle school for me."
"Ohh, so that's why you stayed behind a few days before graduation?"
"Yes."
"Well, I'm glad we all have our paths for the future," Yoha said. "I wonder what Fuyumi-chan will do."
"Well, you can ask her," Obito said as the group came to a stop and he looked to their right through a bakery window. "She's right there."
The group blinked as one and turned to see a familiar white-haired girl in the building.
Fuyumi seemed to have felt their stares because she turned around and choked at the sight of them.
Fuyumi blushed in her white shirt, black jacket, and dark blue skirt, her eyes looking down at her black boots as the others ordered their smoothies at the bakery they'd all met at.
Sitting next to her, chatting amicably with Izuku, was Shouto who was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans that led down into white sneakers.
Finally, her mother and, apparently, Obito's mother chatted like old hens, the white-haired woman wearing a light blue dress with a white jacket and sandals.
Finally, there was her older, younger, brother, Natsuo.
He was blinking at the group in confusion, his features similar to her and their mom but his hair, while white, was short and spiky while his face was far more square… square like their father.
Wearing a white polo with light blue horizontal bands, he wore some tan cargo shorts and small brown boots.
'This is horrifying,' she thought as she blushed under some of her former classmates' questions. "S-Sorry, what was the question?"
"Well, how'd Obito's ice cream taste?" Yu asked with shining eyes and a drooling mouth. "The last time he cooked was at Kao-chan's birthday and that was amazing!"
"U-Um," Fuyumi blushed as he remembered just how well Obito could cook and she reminded herself of how she'd eaten most of the ice cream from Saturday. "I-It tasted really good," she admitted with a red face.
"Ice cream?" Natsuo balked in disbelief. "W-Where was this ice cream?!"
"I know! You should have told us, Obi-kun~" Yu cried in defeat as Inko and Rei chuckled while Shouto turned his head.
Then his eyes grew bright. "I-It tasted amazing!" The boy said, more enthusiastic than his sister. "It was French Vanilla, too!"
"Shou-kun, please, don't break my heart more!"
"H-Huh?"
"What's this about ice cream?!"
"She's being dramatic, don't mind her, Shouto-kun. Apologies, Natsuo-kun, I'd brought some over as a thanks, Saturday afternoon," Obito said as he sipped on some coffee, the boy's mouth dropping. "Hmph, so, you all were just getting groceries?"
"Hmm, well, we also just wanted some fresh air," Rei said with a small smile. "The house is empty though my mother is supposed to come over tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes," she said.
"Hmph, you know, if you want, you all should come over," Inko said as Hisashi coughed off to the side while Rei smiled knowingly. "It wouldn't be so bad. Just a little fun."
"I don't mind," Yoha said with a smile as Yu grinned expectantly.
"Food?!" She asked and Obito snorted.
"Fine but don't eat us out of house and home, please," he said and she grinned.
"No promises!"
"Our heroine, everyone."
Shouto giggled while Natsuo blinked.
"Will there be more ice cream?" He asked and Hisashi smirked.
"Sure, I'm sure that the girls over here need to go and clean up, we'll grab some stuff on the way back," he said. "I mean, don't you all also need to put your things away?"
"... Hmm, actually," Rei smiled as she held up her bags. "We might have some stuff that'd make ice cream ever since Saturday," she said with some embarrassment as Obito raised a brow.
"... I see," he said as Fuyumi blushed and Shouto's eyes shined. "Sure, I don't mind making it. Then, you all can just come with us."
~NRK~
He rolled his neck as he put on some black pants and a dark blue shirt that had a v-neck.
Obito nodded to his mirror before donning an orange bandana around his bicep before leaving his room.
When he did, he caught Izuku before he was going to knock, the boy blinking before he grinned at him in his tan t-shirt and red shorts.
"What are you going to make, nii-san?" The moss head asked as they walked down the hall to the kitchen. "A-Anything with pork?" Izuku asked as he swallowed, the two of them came into view. "Hi again, Rei-san," he waved at the woman who smiled from within the living room along with her children.
Fuyumi, meanwhile, was fidgeting with her fingers as Shouto gasped at a familiar All Might statue atop the TV stand of the Midoriya home.
"R-Right, you have the third one," the boy said as Izuku blinked before he gasped.
"You got the other one?! My brother and your sister only made three in the entire world! They're super-rare!"
"Yup!"
Natsuo blinked, tilting his head at his sibling.
Fuyumi, meanwhile, blinked at the smiling expression of her youngest sibling before letting out a small smile.
"Hmm, is there anything you all don't eat?" Obito asked as he cracked his fingers. "Don't like pork, red meat, allergic to any kind of foods?"
"N-No," Fuyumi said.
"... are we eating fish?" Natsuo asked. "L-Like sashimi?"
"Apologies, I can't prepare that so easily," Obito said and the boy slumped. "You don't hate normal meats, do you?"
"No, I just like fish more."
"I'll see if I can't cook you your fish then, is that fine?" Obito asked and the boy perked up. "It's not impossible, especially with my quirk."
"Your quirk?" The boy asked as Fuyumi flinched while her mother sighed.
"Brother can breathe fire!" Izuku said with a big grin as Natsuo froze, getting a raised eyebrow from Obito. "H-He can do super cool things with it like making dragons!"
Natsuo blinked out of his trance, looking confused.
"D-Dragons?"
"Yup! He can even do… i-it's called… M-Mass Flame Style… I think," the moss head said, confusing the quartet.
"I can control any flames I both cause or have about while they still exist," Obito explained as he filed away the reaction from the boy for another time. "And it's called Grand Flame Summoning, Izuku."
"... That name's so cool~" Shouto whispered in awe as Natsuo nodded rapidly next to him, much to the shock of Rei and Fuyumi. "I-I don't think I can do that…"
"Well, you have the ability to use ice techniques, right, Shouto-kun?" Obito asked and the boy nodded. "While not the same way I can, you can abuse the way your ice works. You can make sweeping cliffs that you could freeze your feet to the bottom of and attack people without them knowing. At least, I'm assuming I have any idea of how your quirk works."
Rei tilted her head. "That's very tactical," she said with several blinks as Obito washed some rice. "Wait, Obito-kun, are you trying to be a hero?" Rei was surprised this question hadn't left her lips before.
"No, I'm not," Obito admitted, shocking the four in no small manner. "I don't want to be a hero, that's about it."
"W-Wait, what?" Fuyumi balked at him. "I-I thought you trained with Kaoruko and the others!"
"I do," Obito said with a raised brow. "That said, that doesn't mean I should become a hero. I'm of the belief that everyone should understand their quirks to the point that they can protect themselves. Even just doing a good amount of exercise, we live in a world where someone could cut a building in half, I don't think it'd be a good idea to remain untested."
"E-Eh?!" Natsuo gaped at him while Shouto's eyes widened in shock before he rushed over. "I-I thought everybody wanted to be a hero with cool quirks."
"Nii-san says that it shouldn't matter what type of quirk you have," Izuku said with a big grin. "Anyone can be a hero if they want to, you just need the right mindset!"
Rei blinked at the beaming child before chuckling a bit, ruffling his hair.
"I guess so, Izuku-kun," Rei said as he grinned.
"I-I'm quirkless but I want to be a great hero!" The boy said, surprising the four. "And Obi-nii helps me however I can!"
"You're quirkless?" Shouto asked with confusion and a frown. "How do you handle a villain that can become the size of a universe?"
"T-There are villains who can do that?!" Izuku squeaked as his pupils shrunk while Shouto blinked at his own words.
"... Maybe?" Rei sweatdropped at her child.
"Shou-kun… there aren't quirks like that," she said, choosing her words.
There was literally no way such a quirk existed, right? Surely, that'd be ridiculous.
"Y-Yu-chan can become as big as a big gym," Fuyumi said and Rei choked. "I-I don't think she can become the size of even a planet, though, Shouto."
"R-Really? She's big!"
Obito chuckled. "Better not let her hear that, women get defensive about their weight," he said as Fuyumi huffed and Rei smiled nervously.
"A little."
"Oh, right, Obito-nii! I-I tried to do the thing!" The two-tone-haired boy said, getting a raised brow out of Obito. "I-I can sort do the thinking thing!"
"... I'm impressed," Obito said as Rei giggled. "Truly, I am."
"Yup! T-Then I did the thing where I tried to do it with my fire, maybe," the boy said.
"Shouto, are you sure you're saying that correctly?"
"... I-I think so," he said before holding his hand over the sink. "See!"
The boy's hands cupped before he swirled them around slowly, flames releasing from his palm with each rotation.
Then the fires thickened as he kept swirling it.
"I-I can sort of do the thing."
"Yes, you're on the right track to improving your quirk through imagination," Obito said. "Even with just a simple thing like this, you can branch out," stopping, Shouto blinked. "Think about it, Shouto-kun, if you can do that by swirling your hand, what'd happen if you punched the air and shot out fire? What'd happen if you swatted it down?"
"R-Really?!" Shouto's mouth dropped. "Could I do what you can?!"
"Well, I don't really know," Obito said with a hum. "Maybe, one day, with your siblings or mom, you can come by the Quirk Coliseum and show me exactly what your quirk actually does. I'm just shooting in the dark here."
"Shooting in the dark?"
"It means guessing blindly, Shouto-kun."
"Ohh."
"Now, I think I've washed the rice enough," Obito said with a nervous smirk as the two of them saw the water spilling over the edge of his rice cooker container. "Alright, one moment."
He made rubbing motions in the water, poured it out, and repeated this three times before spitting out a floating ball of fire.
It floated over the rice before spiraling into a small explosion of heat that dried the grains.
"There, no excess moisture though that might be a moot point," Obito said as he filled it with filtered water and set it up. "Now, I'm doing chicken," he said to the group. "Anything you all might not mind?"
"Well, Tatsuta-fried food?" Fuyumi suggested and Obito hummed. "I don't know if you've ever done that before."
"I haven't, that'd be a new one," he said as he looked it up on his phone. "If you don't mind a little extra wait, I can give it a shot."
"... I-I can do it," Fuyumi said with a nervous swallow as he raised a brow at her. "I-I mean if you don't mind."
"I don't," Obito said with a nod, putting his phone away and picking up another apron as she rigidly came over. "Now, I've organized our kitchen with mom. Over here is the dried ingredients, the wet stuff is in the fridge and a cabinet by it…" he explained their method, and Fuyumi blinked, looking around.
"I didn't think anyone did this," she said with a tilt of the head. "Oil just to the right of the stove?"
"Well, I typically order good, specialized, oil from other places with my allowance," Obito explained. "So, if we need to do so for a pan, it's right by it. This kitchen to set up from quick & easy to decently long for food. I've tried, at least."
"..." Fuyumi observed him for a moment and Obito raised a brow.
"Yes?"
"... I-It's nothing," she said, looking around. "So, the flour and soy sauce are here…" she went about finding the right things.
Obito nodded before going through with several other things.
Watching the two work, Rei hummed with a small smile as Shouto walked back to the living room and sat down, tilting his head.
"Sister is weird, nii-san," he said to Natsuo who blinked before rubbing the back of his head. "She was so rainy and now she's sunny."
"... She is," Natsuo said, scratching his chin. "Fuyumi's usually so full of energy, I guess high school is super stressful."
"S-She is?"
Rei smiled at that as the two chatted while Izuku hummed before the sound of knocking on the door and the opening of doors within the home reached their ears.
"We'll get it!" Inko said as she and Hisashi came into view.
Inko was in a white shirt and black shorts while Hisashi wore a black shirt and dark green pants.
"Stay comfortable, you two," Inko said with a thumbs-up, that Rei chuckled at, before answering the door. "Welcome!" The green-haired woman said to a familiar trio of girls. "Come in, come in, glad you found us so easily."
Kaoruko grinned as she entered in a white blouse and yellow pants that led down to white sandals, followed from behind by a hungry-looking Yu who was wearing a blue shirt under a white jacket with black slacks on along with black flats.
Yoha came in last with a smile, wearing a bare shoulder light green dress and white heels along with a similar-colored purse. "I'm guessing the food isn't ready yet," she said before chuckling at Obito and Fuyumi in the kitchen while Yu whined.
"Whatcha making, you two?" Kaoruko asked with a grin.
"Some fish filets and baked chicken."
"T-Tatsuta style chicken on my end."
"Nice!" She said with a double thumbs-up and grin. "I love fish!" Kaoruko said with stars in her eyes.
"Suffering, my name is Yu!" Yu said with crocodile tears rolling down her cheeks, flopping into a seat by Izuku. "Izu-Izu! Tell nee-san she'll eat soon!"
"... You'll eat soon, Yu-san!" The boy said and the woman grinned.
"I knew I could count on you!"
"Hmph, he's already calming down women, talk about maturing," Hisashi said with a raised brow as Inko and Rei chuckled. "Now, who likes chess?"
The group, at large, seemed pretty interested in the idea save for Natsuo, Yu, and Shouto.
The last three simply hooked up one of Izuku's game consoles to the TV and playing on that.
An hour later, the group smelled the food as it finished and put their things on 'pause' to eat.
Pulling out a big table from the basement, Obito and Fuyumi smiled at the spread as everyone pulled up a chair.
A plate of vegetables, white rice, noodles, fried fish filets, normal baked chicken, TatsutaTatsutahicken, along with a bit of oil and a sweet and spicy sauce.
"Yes! Food!" Yu shouted in joy. "And a duet of it?! I have to taste it all!"
"Glad to see you're so… supportive of Obito and Fuyumi's efforts," Yoha said with a chuckle as her three snakes' tongues flicked out before the girl blushed a bit. "O-Oh, they really like it just from the air," she said to the two who hummed.
"So you can also taste what they do?" Obito asked.
"Yes, while they don't get hungry, exactly, they share their senses with me. Thankfully, the pain receptors are dulled but it'll still hurt."
"Really?" Fuyumi blinked in surprise as Izuku observed Yoha's snakes with interest. "I guess that makes sense, they're still living things."
As soon as the two cooks sat down, the group dug in with Yu being the fastest.
"Mmm! Yes! Yes! Amazing!"
"Don't talk with your mouth full," Yoha said but she smiled as she ate some of the fish, her snakes wiggling in satisfaction. "R-Right, sorry about them," she said with a blush as the others chuckled or giggled.
"It's cute, Yoha-senpai," Kaoruko said with a smirk. "Good to know even the Forever Perfect Yoha has a literal silly side."
"Hmph!" The snake girl smiled with pride.
"There's that pride."
"It's interesting," Hisashi said as he cupped his chin. "Like, they move exactly like snakes and there's no human-side to them, metaphorically, I mean," he said with a snort as Inko chuckled.
"Well, they don't bat their eyes or anything like that," Yoha said. "But they seem to get manners, I think they're mostly just snakes but they share my understanding of things down to a 'T' and they don't try to, like, eat passing mice, ugh," she shivered.
"That's so cool!" Izuku said. "Can they stretch?" He asked and she blinked.
"I'm surprised anyone would ask that question and, yes, they do," she said. "Only, like, two meters but it's a decent offense."
"Nii-chan always says that quirks can be more than they look like," the green-haired boy said as Hisashi nodded sagely while Natsuo blinked. "Like, Shouto-kun might be able to change how thick his ice is, maybe."
Shouto blinked, tilting his head to the side. "I-I haven't tried," the boy said and Rei patted his head.
"Like Obito-kun said, yes? Creativity," his mother said and Shouto nodded.
"Uh-huh!"
"The more I hear, the more things stay weird, Obito-senpai," Kaoruko said. "You do all this, train with everyone, and give tips, how could you?" She said with faun anger, chopsticks in her mouth.
"It's life, live with it," Obito said before humming. "Unless you don't want tips."
"No, please don't do that!" She stammered. "Y-You can do what you do, dude! Hahahhaha."
"She's not good at this," Natsuo whispered and Fuyumi nodded. "Like, wow."
She giggled a bit.
"I see, this is Tatsuta-style, hmm?" Obito considered next to her and Fuyumi nodded, looking at all the other dishes.
'He's so good at this, it's scary,' she considered as she ate bits and pieces of everything. 'He's got scary skills and yet he's so well-balanced.'
Training, quirk knowledge, cooking, family time, helpful, a cool head, and powerful work ethic.
'... I wish he'd be like this,' she thought with a frown, putting some fish into her mouth. 'Well, at least the emotional parts,' Fuyumi corrected as she ate food that tasted way too good.
"You already breaking down the percentages?" Hisashi asked. "She's got a good thumb at this, mmm," the man ate some of Fuyumi's cooking with a nod as the girl blushed.
"I am," Obito said with closed eyes and his chin in hand. "Let's see, soy sauce in four teaspoons, half a cup of minced green onions, you added a bit of sugar when I wasn't looking and soaked the chicken in some vinegar water as well."
Fuyumi blinked in at him in disbelief. "A-Are you sure you didn't look when I was doing that?" There was no way he'd just broke that down, r-right?
"I was too busy handling the noodles at the time," she choked. "Yes, you let them soak for five minutes while throwing everything else in the pan, even a little potato starch, too, right?"
Her mouth dropped as Natsuo let out a shocked noise.
"Whoa… he totally got sis," he said to Shouto who hummed.
"N-Natsu!" Fuyumi shouted at him with a big blush as her little brothers shrugged in unison.
"I'm guessing this is your specialty, right?" Obito asked and Inko's mouth set in a big smile that Hisashi grunted at. "Hmm, this is interesting, I should learn this recipe one of these days."
Fuyumi blinked before blushing as Rei chuckled.
"Well~" Inko smiled, Kaoruko and Yoha grinning as soon as they caught on. "Why don't you come over often, you all? I'm sure Izuku wouldn't mind Shouto-kun coming over, he'd be a nice friend. Natsuo, meanwhile, can get more Obito-made ice cream, too."
"Ice cream?" The boy perked up. "T-That sounds cool."
"W-What?!" Fuyumi froze in horror while Obito hummed.
"I don't mind, what do you think, Fuyumi-san?"
"U-Um?!" What did she think?!
She didn't agree to this! S-Sure, she knew she was being a bit silly around Obito due to his quirk… b-but this was kind of too fast!
"We can look at all the All Might stuff!" Izuku said as Shouto's eyes shined.
"... I-I guess," she said with a blush as Obito raised a brow. "I-It'd be nice for Shouto to meet more kids his age," Fuyumi whispered before confusing herself.
Why whisper? This wasn't a secret for the both of them.
"I understand," he said with a nod and her eyebrows lowered in confusion.
Wait, understand what?! What was he understanding that she didn't?!
"Mmm, you're being mean," she whispered and Obito snorted.
"A bit, now, I believe I should start on that ice cream," he announced and the Todorokis perked up. "Hm, hm."
Yug grinned.
Seeing the others off, Obito took it upon himself to follow the Todorokis home.
"It's nice of you, Obito-kun," Rei said with a long sigh. "You're also right, in a way, that knowing how to protect ourselves is important."
"I mean if you want, I can give you all training," Obito said as they got off the bus to the four's street. "Even if it's as little as some exercise, running from trouble is also an option."
"R-Running? I thought you'd try and prepare us for fighting," Fuyumi said with a grimace before blinking at his shake of the head.
"Some people just aren't built for fighting, that's the truth. And when I say that, I mean that many don't wish to involve themselves or train to handle threats that even normal training couldn't handle. At the end of the day, I can't force someone to become a fighter."
"Hmm," Shouto hummed with his mouth in a straight line. "S-So you could train me?" He asked nervously, surprising his family.
"If you want to, Shouto-kun, I won't force anyone to fight, much less to hurt themselves trying to."
"O-Okay!" The boy said as he rubbed his arm. "I-I get physical training a lot…" He said and Obito's eyes narrowed before nodding.
"Then all you need is mental gains," Obito said before cupping his chin. "Several factors can lead to mental growth. Reaction speed, solving ability, quirk application, and so on. I might even need to give you homework," the boy and Natsuo choked and paled. "Don't be like that, you don't get better at math without doing the homework."
"I-I find that hard to believe," Fuyumi said with a slight pout as her mother smiled. "Homework doesn't seem like it helps, on occasion."
"That's because most students don't really realize it. I bet you've realized, during a test, 'Oh, wait, didn't we do this before?' and only then realize that it was worth it," Obito said intently and she blushed as Natsuo coughed and Shouto grumbled. "Come on, you three, if you want something enough, even something as simple as good grades," they gaped at him. "Snrt. Then you have to focus your body and mind, depending on what you want. No one gets anywhere by not trying."
"..." Natsuo considered his words. "A-And we can stop if I want to?"
"Sure," Obito said.
"A-Alright! Shouto! We're training!" The older boy said and Shouto's head bobbed rapidly.
"Yes, sir!"
Rei smiled softly. 'He's never been so eager about it,' she thought with a sadder smile. 'Perhaps if Enji knew restraint, knew how to encourage without harsh rebuttal, maybe Shou-kun would have thrived more.'
Sadly, that hadn't happened and they were barely containing the pieces.
The group made it to the Todoroki home and Obito nodded as they went in.
"Whenever you want in, let me know. I'm gonna be either at cram school or doing my internship so I'll send a schedule," he said as the three nodded. "Take care," Obito said with a bow before heading off.
"H-He's pretty cool, nee-san," Natsuo whispered to Fuyumi whose cheeks reddened a bit as she let out a soft grunt. "Like, super-cool."
"Super cool," Shouto said as Rei chuckled.
"R-Right," Fuyumi said with a slight grumble.
"You're not going to… uhh," the boy blushed a bit himself. "Go on a date, are you?"
Fuyumi's face burned red as Rei laughed.
"Hm, hm, hm! N-Natsu-kun, don't tease your sister like that," she said as the boy rubbed the back of his head.
"I mean, don't girls like dudes like him, he can cook, train, is super smart, and he's good with kids like us," he said and Rei nearly broke out into another set of laughter.
"Goodness! Yes, they usually do," she said with a smile as Fuyumi speed-walked to the home. "Don't be like that, Fuyu-chan."
Well, a lot of good things came out of this.
Obito, in the meanwhile, turned his head to the side right as he was about to leave the perimeter of the house.
A window on the second floor remained open with a man standing at it.
Calculating, observant, blue eyes looked at him and the reincarnated shinobi didn't break contact until he walked out of view.
'So, is he abusive or someone who doesn't realize what he's doing?' He didn't know.
But, with how things had progressed in the span of three days? Obito had a feeling he'd find out.
~NRK~
The following Monday saw Obito in cram school during lunchtime, the young fire-breather messing with a notebook before Fuyumi sat across from him at a table.
The teen Todoroki sat across from him in a counterpart uniform of a white dress shirt with a black skirt, and brown loafers, the only difference between their outfits being that he wore black pants.
She looked up at him and he nodded before showing her some of his notes.
They worked in silence and Fuyumi sighed as she looked up at Obito.
The black-haired teen's eyes flickered about another notebook as he handled a small workbook that was quickly filled with answers as he looked between both.
'He's so dedicated,' she thought as she watched his fingers speed through notes, calculations, and small diagrams. 'And he's really good at this.'
What did he go through to be so efficient? Was it natural talent? Pure hard work? Or was it a good balance?
'I wish I could find that balance,' Fuyumi thought with a frown as she wrote down some of his notes before answering her own notebook. 'What do I want?' She recounted his words.
To work towards a goal meant to put herself into training but of what sort? What did she want?
Her mind spun an image, an emotion, of her family, all five of them.
Her father, mother, and three brothers… the ideal family of her father coming home and training her siblings while throwing them encouraging words and ideas.
The idea of her mother watching soap operas with her and the two of them watching the men train, grow stronger, become better at protecting.
And… finally, she saw herself, supporting all of it, doing her best to tell Natsuo and Shouto to follow their dreams.
To laugh with her mother about the silliness of boys.
… To have her father explain to her his past and how he became the man he is.
All of it was something she wanted… but she had no idea of what to do.
Obito's eyes flickered to Fuyumi's clenching hand.
'She's struggling with something other than schoolwork,' this was obvious, especially with everything he'd learned about her by this point.
He simply didn't know what. He'd never really dealt with the normal struggles of life save for in the beginning when he and Izuku had been born.
And he'd done his best to lessen their burden by becoming both a caretaker and the best sibling he could.
So, yeah, he was out of his depth here… but he knew a few things it could be.
Maybe she didn't want her family training? Maybe she still feared him. He was sure she did, she just didn't seem as absorbed by her fear now.
Fuyumi loved her family immensely, said family also didn't seem to be doing all that great, at the moment, though. She might be bummed about that.
Or was it their father he'd yet to meet?
"Everything alright, Fuyumi-san?" He asked and she flinched, head snapping up at him. "... Here," Obito said, removing a pack of tissues from his bag and handing her some.
The female teen sniffled a bit before taking some and cleaning up. "I'm sorry… I'm sorry," she said and he sighed.
"It's fine, I'm not going to say anything. You clearly have your own issues to worry about," he said as Fuyumi looked down.
"... W-What do I do if my goal is too difficult, too big for me to handle?" She asked out of the blue and Obito blinked. "W-What if it's scary and seems like it's just not possible?"
She was just a kid! To fix everything… To face her father, the will and strength to do that just weren't in her.
"You find people who can help you," Obito said straight-up, causing her to choke. "You surround yourself with people who can help push you to the point that you become able. Find those who can pick up where you lack… that's the answer to that question, I think."
Naruto, the entire Shinobi Alliance, Kakashi, even the Bijuu.
All of them working together struggled… but they succeeded. Because they had their comrades around them to help them when they fell.
"What?" Fuyumi gaped at him. ".. T-This problem is kind of personal-"
"You mean your fear of your father?" Obito asked and Fuyumi froze, eyes wide and mouth dropped.
"?!" H-How did he k-know?! "W-What? H-How did you?"
"Context clues," Obito said quietly as their teacher came into the room. "You fear fire and I'd thought it was because of your recent… loss," he said wisely and her pupils shrunk before her expression fell. "But it's more than that and it's not just you, your mom, brothers, all of you show signs of fear. And Shouto's words are more solid than anything else I could say."
Fuyumi swallowed as she moved around to his side of the table and sat down, Obito pulling her things over to their side.
"... I-I… Dad, he…" She tried to get the words out but couldn't.
"It's fine, don't say anything, we'll talk after school," Obito whispered as she bit her lip and nodded.
The day went by excruciatingly slowly.
~NRK~
Sitting at the back of the bus on the way to her home, Obito frowned at what he heard.
"H-He just pushes him to the point that he's vomiting and then him and m-mom fight a-and," Fuyumi explained it as best she could.
He sighed. "I see," Obito said as he nudged her with his shoulder. "It seems your father might be trying to live through your brother," she blinked the tears away from her eyes as she looked at him.
"I-I don't understand, w-why?"
"... It might be because your father's been the No. 2 Hero for so long," Obito considered as her eyes widened. "He's sick of the title, I can't imagine what it's like to not only beat All Might in cases but share similar power and still be overlooked… that doesn't make it right, mind you, but I understand where this madness is coming from… And, tell me, Fuyumi-san, when your brother… passed, what happened? This might very well be a big part of it."
Fuyumi wiped her eyes with her sleeve. "Dad didn't come home for a bit… A-And then he got so aggressive ever since and blamed mom!"
"He blames himself," Obito said and she stared at him. "Lashing out, a long disappearance, an increase in aggression, as well as doubling Shouto-kun's training… I see, am I assuming that your older brother was originally who he was training," she sniffled with a nod.
Obito had a ton of experience with broken individuals, he used to be one himself, hell, he was still one, he'd tell anyone.
So, combine that with being a ninja who lived on understanding the hidden motives of people and Madara's training in how to manipulate people, and Obito pretty much dissected Enji Todoroki's reasoning.
"He's overcompensating, he's liking thinking that he never got to teach his son and doubled-down on Shouto's own, much to his detriment."
"T-Then what do we do?" She asked and Obito didn't correct her.
He was now involved in all this by way of not only interacting with them more but because he'd made the connections already and wasn't happy with the state of things.
Still, he hadn't told her everything about Enji Todoroki's reasons… chances were high… that he'd wanted a child who could handle the drawbacks of his quirk and that was Shouto. Add on that Obito was very familiar with this mindset and he wasn't able to step back.
"Well, you have to approach him via a manner he understands… and, sadly, I feel like that only matters in one way," Obito said as she gaped at him.
"B-Become a hero?"
"Sadly, I think the only other option would be… to fight him," Obito said and her pupils shrunk. "Yes, it's going to be that hard to convince your father. And, last I checked, you're not exactly a fighter."
She trembled. "T-There has to be another way, right?!"
"Well… I can't really say," Obito said with an unfortunate shrug. "Unless he's been trying to sign all of you up or you've not mentioned something I'm unaware of, those are your options."
Fuyumi paled beyond every known color of white.
"I-I-I…" she stammered in horror as the bus stopped on their stop. "I-I-I."
"Fuyumi-san," Obito said softly and she clenched her hands on her skirt. "Please, listen, I know this is scary but you don't need to fix everything," he said as her eyes widened. "If it's just a change in occupation…" he said as he stood up. "I'll do it," he said and Fuyumi blinked thrice.
Then her eyes widened to absurd degrees and shook her head repeatedly, standing up to him, standing a bit under half a foot from his own height. "P-Please, no, don't do that," she said before he gestured out of the back of the bus.
Stepping out, he looked her in the eyes.
"Why?"
"You can't!" She shouted at him. "T-Think about this! You don't want to be a hero, Obito-kun, you want to be an officer, why would you-"
"Because I involved myself in this situation, Fuyumi-san," Obito said with a powerful stare that nearly took all her strength away in horror. "And, even though we haven't really been friends, seeing you in this situation isn't pleasant," he explained. "So, I'll become a hero to convince him that his methods are wrong. If Shouto-kun wants to be a hero, he'll have close to six years until he can be one. If I join the upcoming Exams, I can get in and be out by the time he's twelve to thirteen, this shouldn't-" he went on to explain only to be brought to an abrupt stop by his head turning to the side.
A harsh slap reached his ears afterward, causing him to blink as a slightly blooming pain came from his cheek.
Fuyumi stood there, gasping when he turned his head back around before he saw the tears.
"Don't ruin your life because of my dad," she whispered, rubbing her eyes. "T-That's not what I'd want…"
Obito officially found himself out of his depths.
All the former life knowledge was failing him at the moment and he wished he knew what to do but this was… Good God, this wasn't something he was used to.
"W-Wait, Fuyumi-san, please. I don't understand," he said and she shot him a teary glare that got a grunt out of him. "I…" He ignored those around them looking on with raised brows. "I…"
Room, they needed room that wasn't surrounded by people lest Fuyumi says something she wasn't supposed to out loud.
Fuyumi had been so angry with him she was confused by the tears rolling down her face.
His intelligence was unmatched, she was sure, but this made her realize how stupid he was.
He chose not to be a hero for a good reason! So, why force himself to do something that might very well claim his life?!
She rubbed her eyes some more, ready to lay into him, those around them be damned… Then she let out a sharp yelp as she was up off the floor.
Then the space around them moved and she felt the air on her face, her tears shooting back, and-
"What the hell are you doing?!" She shouted at him when she realized he was carrying her through the air, eyes shooting down to see white flames in the shapes of clouds on his feet. "W-What?!"
"You want to berate me, might as well do it in a place where you won't be embarrassed, say something you don't want to, or won't feel pressured to," Obito said as they flew over the Todoroki estate and came down into the forest behind the home. "There, you're angry, lay into me," he said as she stared at him in disbelief.
"... What is wrong with you?" She asked, head falling into the crux of his neck. "I-I don't understand. Why are you doing all of this?"
Obito's eyes narrowed into the forest as his earlier reasoning shot into his mind.
'Because I was the exact same,' he thought in sadness. 'I know damn well what Endeavor is doing and it's painful to watch.'
But that couldn't leave his lips, it never should, and so Obito gave her his newest motivation, his most powerful one.
"Because I have to," he whispered as her arms gripped his neck tighter. "When my brother was born, I made a promise to myself," Obito said. "I told myself I'd make sure his path to the future was unheeded, clear, guided to his grand goal. I'd show him a path that's hard and rocky but prove it was doable," he said.
"That's… snff, not what you seem to be doing," she said with a sniffle and Obito sighed at the truth of her words. "You want to be a cop."
He did because he didn't deserve to be a hero no matter what. Perhaps that was also another failure waiting to happen, he didn't know.
"You're right… but that's my selfishness at play," Obito said with a sigh. "As a hero, I'm expected to only see the big picture, maybe I'm being naive, but I don't think I should forget those small lines in between."
As a cop, he'd get knowledge that he didn't need a crazy good reputation for, only a pretty decent cop. He'd be an unknown quantity that could tackle crimes that didn't need to reach the public… and possibly save those who didn't have a way out.
No, it didn't all make sense but he was a fool before, what's a little more?
"... I don't understand you," she said.
"Don't worry, neither do I."
"... H-Hm, hm," she chuckled into his neck and Obito let out a sigh of relief.
Crisis averted-
"Then you can help me understand," Fuyumi said. "I'm going to need to to become a hero."
Bad day, bad day, bad day!
"W-Wait, what?!" He said in horror. "W-Wait, Fuyumi-san! Y-You're not really a fighter!"
"I-I know… but I have to," she said as she patted his bicep, blushing a bit. "C-Can you let me down?"
He did but his expression was still incredulous.
"L-Look, I'm an idiot, you shouldn't follow my example," he said and she laughed. "D-Don't you want to be a teacher?"
"Don't you want to be a cop?"
"They're not the same."
"Yes they are," she said and his eyebrow twitched. "Heroes can end up with all kinds of jobs," Fuyumi said while wiping her eyes. "Heroes who work as teachers, others as investigators," she elaborated, looking at him. "And others who are cops."
Fucking hell, of course, the one thing she'd take from her father was information.
He'd be impressed if he wasn't so screwed over verbally.
"L-Look, I get that…" he said before having a long pause and his eyebrow began to twitching again as she giggled. "... Dammit," Obito cursed. "You do realize you have to get into enough shape to enter, right?"
"I know… A-And, I think," she began to say with a blush. "That my dad might write a special recommendation for me if I was going to be a hero."
"... That'd only give us an extra week," Obito realized with a curse. 'Fuck me, we're really about to do this, aren't we?' He thought before sighing and crossing his arms as he nodded. "Alright," he said, their eyes locking. "Then, welcome to a crash course of violence."
She swallowed.

Rei smiled shakily as her husband entered the kitchen.
"... Where's Fuyumi?" Enji Todoroki asked in confusion and she blinked.
The man was built like a house in stature and muscle mass, having a perfectly defined body with a broad chest and shoulders.
His skin was fair like their son's and his eyes blue like his as well. His hair was short, red, and slightly spiked forward while his chin sported a little stubble.
Wearing a fitting black shirt and jeans, his thick arms crossed over his powerful chest, eyes looking around in confusion before Rei saw a hint of something in his eyes.
Worry-?
The door to the home opened and Enji Todoroki rounded the corner to see their daughter with Obito in tow.
"O-Oh, you're down here already," she said and Enji nearly huffed, the reaction wasn't new… but something about this was different. "H-Hmph, alright," Fuyumi said as she walked up to him, barely up to his chest. "D-Dad!" Enji raised a brow at her.
"... Who's this boy?" He asked with narrowed eyes and Fuyumi trembled. "This isn't a… new thing, is it?"
"It is though not in the way you think, Enji-san," Obito said as he walked up to him before standing beside Fuyumi. "But, I'm not important right now, your daughter is."
Enji Todoroki blinked before assessing his second-born with confusion.
"Yes?"
"... D-Dad, I-I'm gonna be a hero!" Fuyumi declared with as much fire as she could.
"WHAT?!" Enji, Rei, and the two stumbling Natsuo and Shouto shouted in unison. "WHAT?!"
"Y-Yeah!" Fuyumi said with a big blush and sweaty waterfalls running down the sides of her face. "I-I'm gonna show you and Obito-kun is gonna help!"
"And just like that, cross hares everywhere," Obito realized with a grunt, looking off to the side and away from the narrow glare of the No. 2 Hero. "Gonna say it outright, I was only a little part of this, trust me, I didn't say a damn thing."
"Y-Yeah! I decided to!" Fuyumi said with shaky resolve that Obito sighed at before crossing his arms and locking gaze with Endeavor.
"She did and I will be training her," he said coolly, the two males' eyes keeping each other's in view. "Will that be a problem, Endeavor-san?"
Enji's eyes flexed before he hummed.
"If she wants to then I won't stop her," he said, voice baritone and strong. "But you do realize the Exams aren't too long from now, don't you?"
"We do," Obito said with a nod. "Getting her up there physically isn't possible at the moment but she doesn't need to be a physical athlete, at the moment, all she needs is creativity," he said. "For now, I'll be running your family through a set of mental training exercises, you could watch and see how she measures up to the beginning rabble, no?"
Rei's eyes went flat as she saw a glint in Enji's eyes.
"Rabble is what you call them, do you?"
"I mean, she's gonna aim for the top. There's no other word."
Fuyumi's eyes went white as she tried to stop the two from one-upping each other.
Then Shouto came around to them with shock, confusion, and awe on his face.
"Y-You want to be a hero, too, nee-san!?" He said with a big smile and Fuyumi found her fate sealed.
"Y-Yea! I am!"
"R-Really?" Natsuo grimaced and she understood, the girl placing her hands on his shoulders.
"I need to do this," she said to him before looking at their mom who sighed with a worried look. "A-And I'm not doing this alone, though!" Fuyumi added, confusing the four. "Obito-kun is going to join, too!"
"Is that so?"
"Enji-san, the flames? The flames, Enji-san."
This was bound to be an amazing turnout, huh?
Obito groaned.
Dammit.

There are bound to be fics for Burnin (Moe Kamiji), Mirko (Rumi Usagiyama), and a few others.
So, yeah, this one's concept begins with Fuyumi's fear of Obito due to his fire breathing and Toya's death being on their minds. It's not as simple as we've seen in this chapter to get over, she's just not against them to feel her fear, in full force, yet.
We'll see how long that lasts next chapter.
Ciao.
