Chapter 4: Diagon Alley.

When Hermione came "home" from the hospital a few days later, she was utterly shocked to find someone there.

"W-w-who's this?" she stammered, trying to gather her thoughts.

There standing was a little girl with much tamer hair, but the eyes and mouth were from her mother.

"This is your younger sister. Eline," their father informed her.

"Eline?" Hermione said, looking utterly confused.

Eline did her best to not cry but smiled at her older sister stating, "Welcome h-h-home, Hermione,"

"Erh…hi? And….thanks?" Hermione said back, looking around the house.

"Your room is on the right, Hermione," their mother said lightly.

Hermione nodded, walking to her bedroom as she faintly heard behind her "That's not my sister,"

"Dear, she was in a coma for a long time. It will take some time for her to remember," their father softly told Eline.

Hermione softly closed the door and was about to reach for her wand when she realized, it wasn't there.

"Where's my wand?" she asked softly to herself, panicking.

CLICK!

Turning around, Hermione saw that the lock was vertical and not horizontal like before.

How did she do that? Without a wand, it's nearly impossible. Did she use magic without one? How did it happen?

A few gasps could be heard when Hermione heard the scratching on her bedroom door. Opening the door, she saw an owl holding a very familiar letter.

"Hermione, what is that beast doing in here!?" her sister sneered at it.

"I…I don't know…" she said, gently taking the letter from the owl's beak.

Hermione felt a sense of safety when she saw the crest of the four animals of the four houses of Hogwarts.

"Well open it up!" Eline said impatiently.

"Will you give me a minute?" Hermione snapped at her.

Eline's eyes welled up with tears and fled into her own room, slamming the door.

Hermione rolled her eyes and opened the letter.

"What does it say, Hermione," their father asked her from the stair case.

"Dear Miss Hermione Jane Granger,

You have been accepted to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry," she said the lines to her parents.

"What? But you're not a witch! They're not real," Their mother said in disbelief.

"According to this letter, they are real," Hermione said, waving the letter for them to see.

"Hermione, what does the rest of the letter say?" their father asked of her.

"Some time tonight, a professor of Hogwarts," Hermione began to read again, "Will visit you to explain everything. Do not lose your ticket to the Hogwarts Express and please arrive an hour before 11 AM on September 1st.

We cannot wait for your arrival here at Hogwarts.

Sincerely,

Headmaster Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, Order of Merlin, first class,"

Both of her parents stared at one another in confusion. During this confusion, Eline's bedroom door opened and she stepped out, listening in on this.

"How can you be a bloody witch?" Eline asked, glaring at Hermione.

"You can hate me all you want, but if I don't know how to keep my magic under control, it can hurt me, let alone others around me," Hermione said back, standing a few feet taller than her sister.

Just then, another white barn owl came flying over to Hermione when she saw who it belonged to.

'Not now Malfoy!' she cursed him in her mind.

"What do we do with these ….damn owls!?" their mother shrieked.

"The school's owl is already gone, this owl, I know of. I'll back," Hermione answered her, not sure if this was her mother at all.

Hermione felt the owl land on her shoulder as she walked into her bedroom, shut the door on her sister's face and locked it manually.

"Let me in!" Eline shouted through it.

With a heavy sigh, Hermione counted to 10 with such focus that she didn't realize that she had put up a silence spell on the door.

"Hooo," the owl hooted at her, holding the letter in its beak.

"Oh, thank you," she said, taking it from its beak.

She opened the letter and saw this:

"Granger,

What the bloody hell happened to us now? What time are we in? How could this be possible? How do we get back?

I was told that I did a 'Snitch of Time' move on my broom, falling and hitting my head. What the bloody hell is this move called for?

Anyway, if we can't go back…what do we do? And, owl me whenever you feel like it. My parents can bloody deal with it for all I care.

Meet you in Diagon Alley before school.

Draco.

PS: The white barn owl is yours, happy early birthday."

Hermione stared opened mouth at the letter for a bit. She then closed it gazing upon the beautiful rare white barn owl who stared back at her.

"What can I call you?" she aloud to it.

Of course the owl didn't speak back, but Hermione in many ways wished that it did.

Draco brought up some major key questions that needed to be answered. But, Hermione didn't know how to answer them, for she never have been in this position before.

Pulling out some lined paper, she wrote back to Draco.

"Malfoy,

I could just send you a howler on what you said to Sirius Black! Of all the things that you said to him about!? Why did you do it? You cannot mess with the timeline. Already it's different! I have a younger sister, when originally; I never had one until now.

We have to keep it safe. No if's and's or buts about it! We don't know what will happen to this timeline if we screw it all up.

You really didn't have to get me an owl and how do you know my birthday? Oh never mind that, just …thank you.

Also, do you know where my wand is? Or do we need to get it again from Olivander's? Let's meet up in Flourish and Blotts.

See you soon,

Hermione"

Hermione folded it up and looked at her new owl that perked up; eying the letter in her hands.

"I always did like the name Fiona," She mumbled to the creature "Take this back to Malfoy for me, please?"

Fiona gently took the letter, stared at Hermione for another second and flew out the window after Hermione got it opened in her bedroom.

There was nothing more than Hermione could do. Their situation was strange and on top of it all, who would believe them? It was stuff written about in fictional books or in movies and TV shows that this stuff happened.

It was close to dinner time when everyone had a lot of time to think. Eline and their mother stayed far away from Hermione while their father tried to act as if nothing happened at all.

DING DONG!

All of the Grangers looked up and over at the door together.

DING DONG!

Hermione rolled her eyes and got up, walking over to the door and opened it.

"Hello?" she greeted the person, looking up at her.

It was none other than Professor McGonagall.

"Hello dear. Are you Hermione Granger?" she asked her.

"Hello and I am. But may I ask, who are you?" Hermione faked to not know her.

"May I come in please?" Professor McGonagall asked of her politely.

Hermione nodded and said "Of course. I'm guessing that you're here about-?"

"Oh I am. Oh, I do hope I am not interrupting your meals?" Professor McGonagall said, looking at Hermione's parents and sister.

"You are," Eline sneered at her.

Professor McGonagall gave the look that Hermione knew all too well and Eline stared at her plate.

"I am Professor Minerva McGonagall and I am also one of the professors that Hermione Granger will be getting instructed to learn how to use her magic," Professor McGonagall introduced herself to everyone.

"Is my sister really a witch?" Eline rudely asked the professor.

Professor McGonagall looked at her through her square glasses and handed Hermione her wand, stating "Levitate that flower vase dear,"

"Erh…what's the …uh…spell to do that?" Hermione faked again on not knowing.

"Winggardium Leviosa," Professor McGonagall supplied to her "With a swish and flick wrist movement,"

Hermione watched her carefully; like she did before, and then copied it saying "Winggardium Leviosa!"

She pointed the wand at the vase and it floated nearly all the way to the ceiling. Eline stared in shock.

"Does that answer your questions, young girl?" Professor McGonagall said to Eline.

Eline blushed in embarrassment and kept quiet after that.

"We have never had a …witch…in the family," Their mother softly spoke up.

"Then, I highly suggest that you let your daughter go to Hogwarts. It's the finest school there is in the UK. I went there myself long ago. Do you need any books? Supplies?" Professor McGonagall asked any of them.

"We do," Mr. Granger said, looking at Hermione who was studying the wand that was given to her.

"Hermione, give this professor her wand back," Mr. Granger said politely to his daughter.

"It is quite alright, as long as Miss Granger doesn't swish it around," Professor McGonagall said, smiling a little.

"I promise that I won't but, where can I get supplies for my new school? And…how long will I be there?" Hermione asked her, again pretending to not know.

"You can find all of your things at the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron, that's in London. And you will be at Hogwarts from September until June 20th of next year," Professor McGonagall answered her.

"Does Hermione get to come home during the holidays?" Mrs. Granger asked the professor.

"Yes she will, unless she would like to stay at Hogwarts or special events that happen during the holidays and we will send out owls to let you know otherwise," Professor McGonagall said to her.

Mr. Granger nodded and said "I guess we do not have any choice,"

"There goes your dreams, Hermione," Mrs. Granger chimed in too.

"What dreams? I can just make new ones," Hermione countered her mother back.

Her mother soon took Eline away whispering to her youngest who seemed to bask in the attention.

'The sooner that September 1st gets here, the better' Hermione thought to herself, handing Professor McGonagall her wand back.

Professor McGonagall conjured up a map to find the Leaky Cauldron and said "I will help you by opening an account at Gringotts, Hermione and any of your shopping,"

"I would appreciate it, Professor," Hermione said to her with gratitude.

"Well, I will see you on July 31st Miss Granger," Professor McGonagall told her and then was out of the house.

Hermione had lost her appetite as she took her plate into the kitchen, cleaned it and then walked up to her bedroom.

July 31st

Hermione had woken up very early and excited to get out of this house. Don't get Hermione wrong, she loves her parents. Just… not these ones.

After Hermione put her jeans, shirt and shoes on, she walked down the stairs, Hermione was very quiet as she gathered her coat and kiddy purse as she saw the tabby cat with black markings that looked like glasses on it in the front window.

"Good morning, Miss Granger," Professor McGonagall greeted her after she transformed back into her normal self.

"Good morning. I don't think they're very…open minded on me being a witch. Mostly that of Eline," Hermione said to her, looking at the ground.

"I could sense some jealousy among your sister, but did you leave a note for them to find?" Professor McGonagall asked her.

"I did," Hermione answered her, locking the front door.

Professor McGonagall nodded; took her student's hand and with a loud crack sound, they were gone.

Somewhere in London, Hermione and Professor McGonagall appeared in an abandoned alley. They walked out of it and down a road where Hermione looked around it.

"Not that interesting to look at," she commented, faking again.

"Now, please remember, to stay beside me. If I lose you…I won't be able to forgive myself," Professor McGonagall said, when she stopped them before a door.

Hermione nodded, not knowing how this world was going to be like.

It was pretty quiet inside the pub, the barman was just putting away the mass amount of mugs for the day. Hermione stuck close to her favorite professor as they walked to the back of the pub.

"A brick wall?" she asked, acting like she didn't know.

"Just watch this," Professor McGonagall told her, tapping the bricks on the wall.

Hermione gasped when the bricks moved into an arch way. What revealed to them was a hidden alley way full of shops.

"This is Diagon Alley. But, first things first, Gringotts Bank," Professor McGonagall told her, walking swiftly off to the weird looking building.

Hermione jogged to keep up with her professor as she saw goblins walking into it.

"What …are those?" she asked Professor McGonagall without pointing to the goblins.

"Those are goblins, Miss Granger. They run this bank. Today, I will share my vault with you since your muggle money won't even cover with what we need today," Professor McGonagall told her, eyeing her kiddy purse.

Hermione blushed heavily and said "Thank you Professor and I hope one day that I will repay you for it,"

"Do not worry, Miss Granger, about this. I think I have an idea of what your parents are like of you being a witch. Never, apologize for what you are," The transfiguration Professor said to her as they then walked up to a goblin.

"Welcome, Miss," He grinned his pointy ugly teeth at them both.

"I would like to change some things to my vault," Professor McGonagall said to the goblin; handing him her key.

"And what would you like to change, Miss McGonagall?" The goblin said back, squinting up at her.

"To add Miss Granger to my vault; so that she can have access to it whenever she needs the money," Professor McGonagall said, giving him a look that made any kid wilt from.

The goblin nodded, handing the key to another, and said "Griphook, please take these two witches to vault 797,"

'Griphook?' Hermione thought as she looked at him with wide eyes.

"Yes," Griphook said, staring at Hermione for a moment and took them to one of the carts.

The wild ride to vault 797 was just as crazy as Hermione reminded to be. Professor McGonagall looked pale and little green as Griphook got out, walked over to the vault with the key.

Hermione got out of the cart, walked over to where the vault door slowly opened and grabbed the coins.

"It seems you have been down here before," Griphook hissed low at Hermione.

"I've never been down here…Mr. Griphook," Hermione lied, putting the coins into her kiddy purse.

"We'll see about that," Griphook said back, as Hermione walked back over to the cart.

They rode all the way back up; through a lot of enchanted waterfalls, but nothing happened.

"I guess you were telling the truth," Griphook snarled at Hermione when they got out of the cart.

Professor McGonagall leaned against the wall and said "I will be in the leaky cauldron, Miss Granger. I will join you shortly,"

"O-of course Professor," Hermione stammered, looking at her with concern.

Professor McGonagall handed her the list of things she would need and staggered out of Gringotts towards the inn.

Hermione looked around the alley and saw that not a lot of people were there still. Biting her lower lip, she walked down the road. She had a shop in mind but she couldn't just run to it.

She stopped in Malkin's for her robes, Potage's Cauldron shop, Stationary shop, and Apothecary shop.

"Oh! There you are," she heard Professor McGonagall's voice.

"Oh…hi. Are you feeling better?" Hermione asked, holding her things.

"I'll take some of those and yes, I am. Thank you," Professor McGonagall said, taking some of the packages.

"All I have left is to get a wand and my books," Hermione told her.

"Well, I'll wait out here for you," Professor McGonagall said, nodding to where Olivander's was at.

Hermione walked inside, and said "Hello?"

"Ahh, good morning miss. First year?" a voice said behind her.

Hermione gasped, whirling around at him, stammering "Y-y-y-yes,"

"I won't hurt you, Miss?" Mr. Ollivander said, walking over to her.

"Hermione Granger, and…you just startled me is all," Hermione introduced herself to him.

"I have phoenix tail feathered wands, unicorn hair, dragon heart strings," he informed, handing her wand after wand but taking them right back.

"Dragon heart strings? As in… a real dragon?" Hermione asked him, already knowing this answer.

"Yes," Mr. Ollivander said to her, "Being tricky eh? Don't you worry; we'll figure this one out,"

"And if you can't?" Hermione asked him, noticing the pile of wands.

Mr. Ollivander stopped and said "There is a wand for you, my dear,"

Hermione nodded, but she kept getting wand after wand.

Mr. Ollivander walked to the side of his shop and muttered "I wonder…"

Hermione looked at him curiously, looking to her right where she knew her wand was at.

Mr. Ollivander handed her a wand that was much lighter in wood color.

What happened next, Hermione was sure that people would see it outside. Light poured out of her wand as warmth spread throughout her.

"Very good, Miss Granger. Red Oak, Dragon heart string, 13.5 inches long," Mr. Ollivander said, smiling.

"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander," she said back, feeling more confused than ever now.

"You're welcome, Miss Granger," Mr. Ollivander told her and was gone.

Hermione walked out of his shop where she saw Draco walk into Madam Malkin's Robe shop.

OK so he was getting nervous of how to befriend Potter. So he walked into Madam Malkin's Robes for all occasions.

"Hogwarts dear? Up you go," she said to him to the stand.

Draco climbed up and was measured for his robes.

"Would it be too much to ask if I can get all of my school year robes at once?" He asked her.

"That would take some time, and you not fully reaching your height, but I can make it work," she told him, hurrying off to the front desk.

It was then, Draco saw in the mirrors a boy that was very skinny in oversized plaid over shirt, an oversized brown shirt and baggy ripped blue jeans. You couldn't miss the messy black hair or the round glasses.

"Hogwarts, dear?" Madam Malkin's said to him and put him next to Draco.

"Hello," Draco said to the boy.

"Hi," the boy said back, shyly.

"Looking forward to our new school?" Draco asked him, feeling like this was hopeless.

"A little. I …I never really knew that this was here," Harry said back, looking at the floor.

"I'm Draco Malfoy," Draco told him, holding out his hand.

"Uh…Harry," Harry said, shaking it.

Draco's eyes were forced to widen in shock and whispered low "As in the Harry Potter?"

Harry only nodded once, not wanting to draw attention to himself.

"Do you know anything of Hogwarts, Harry?" Draco dared to ask him.

"No," harry said, feeling dumb.

"Don't worry. There's only 4 houses within it, the sorting hat is placed upon your head into which house it see's within you as a person. Some of the professors are you dormitory heads. There's Quidditch that you can fly and do try outs in our second year," Draco rattled off.

Harry looked at him in awe and asked "What is Quidditch?"

"Quidditch is where you fly on a broom stick. You have 7 people on each team; a keeper of the goals, a seeker, 3 chasers, and 2 beaters. The beaters are the ones who keep the bludger away from their team and use it against the other team. The chasers are the ones who use the quaffle ball to earn points through the 3 hoops on the pitch. The Keeper is the …guard if you will of the hoops from the other team. The Seeker is the one who has to try and find the golden snitch. If the seeker finds it and catches it, the game is over with 150 points from catching it," Draco explained it all to him.

"Whoa," Harry said in awe "So that's why the group of kids is pressed up against that shop, to look at that broom then?"

"The Nimbus 2000? Probably," Draco shrugged.

There was knocking on the windows as Draco saw Hagrid smiling at Harry.

"Who's that?" Draco asked, although he already knows who it was.

"That's Hagrid, he's the grounds keeper of Hogwarts. He's helping me with my shopping," Harry said smiling at Hagrid who held up a snow owl in a cage.

"Oh," was all Draco could get as Madam Malkin told Harry was done.

"I'll see you at school Draco," Harry said, waving at him.

"Bye," Draco replied back, still standing on the stool.

His nerves were calmed down and didn't have to wait too long to get off of the stool.

"Where are your parents to pay for all of this dear?" Madam Malkin asked Draco when he was at the desk.

"Not here," Draco said, giving her plenty of gold and silver coins "Dobby,"

CRACK!

"Dobby is here, young master," the house elf said.

"Can you please take these back home? And know that I may need you for my shopping for today," Draco told him, handing him the robes.

Dobby was staggering from the robes but said "Oh, course young master! Dobby will be waiting whenever you call dobby, sir!"

CRACK!

And Dobby was gone.

Draco walked out of the robes shop and walked to Flourish and Blotts.

Hermione was looking through the rows and rows of books when she was yanked backwards.

"Granger!" she heard Draco's voice in her ear.

"Bloody hell, Draco!" she hissed at him, turning around.

"What do we do now?" He asked in a hushed whisper, pulling her up on the second floor.

"I don't know. We cannot mess with time, Draco," she whispered again at him.

"We have a second chance, Granger," Draco pushed it with her.

"We cannot mess with time, Draco. Do you know what happens when you do?" she stressed to him.

"Do you see another one of you running around? I sure in hell don't, Granger," Draco snarled at her.

Hermione looked at him as it just now dawned on her. There really wasn't another one of them running around. So, what happened to them?

"Yeah," Draco said, looking at her.

"But…if we change the time line, it could mean that something else is bound to happen in its place," Hermione whispered, trying to understand all of this.

"I checked my library at home, Granger. There's nothing that states this," Draco said, looking at some books behind them.

Hermione nodded, refusing to accept this for now.

"I'll owl you whenever something does come up," Draco told her, shaking his head "knowing you, you won't stop until there is an answer or solution to this,"

"Yes," She said "my family will come around to the idea of me being a witch,"

Draco turned to look at her. He saw the tears well up in her eyes.

"Granger," he said unsure of what to do.

"Don't mind me. It's just that the parents here are just crueler then the ones that I had. And I also have a sister," Hermione said, wiping away her tears.

"…I…" Draco began but then stopped; he didn't know what to think to that.

Hermione shook her head, and said "I'll owl you and see you on the Hogwarts Express if we don't see each other,"

Draco was going to say something else but, Hermione walked away with a book in hand.

Curious on what she grabbed, Draco walked over to the row and read the titles "Time Turners, for beginners. Time turners, how to use them and what not to do,"

Knowing that Hermione grabbed an important book from here, Draco grabbed all of them.

He saw Hermione walk out of the book shop with Professor McGonagall.

"Did you get everything, Draco dear?" His mother asked him curiously.

"…yeah," he said watching the only person that he needed walk away.

"The only thing left that we need is your wand, Draco," His mother reminded him.

He nodded and walked to cashier, buying all of the books.

Dobby, once again, came and took them all away after Draco told him to put them in his trunk.

His mother and he walked out of the shop and down the road.
