Why was it that Missy could never find a good guy to date in this city?

She had been in three relationships this past year with none lasting more than two months.

Dan was her current boyfriend. She had been with him for a month and a half and things had been going great...

...or so she had thought...

Now all of a sudden it had been two days with so much as a single text or call.

Missy knocked upon the very familiar door just across the hallway from her own, one eye on her phone as she did so.

She was still in her work clothes. Purse hanging from the crook of her arm, with a sharp pencil skirt, silk blouse and black patent high heels on, not even having gone home to change yet.

Within a second or two the door was flung open wide.

Standing there, of course was her neighbour Wade, looking as haphazard and as handsomely thrown together as ever. Today he was wearing a black hooded jacket thrown over a black tshirt and a pair of jeans, with that stupid smile of his plastering itself across his features.

She had been friends with Wade for a couple of years now.

He had pretty much pestered her into friendship, which at first she had found irritating but now, she had to admit it was a bit of a blessing in disguise.

Missy worked five days a week, full time and yet rent was expensive in this city. So the only neighbourhood she had really been able to afford had been this one. And she had to admit, it wasn't your safest. But luckily for her, with Wade Wilson around, she felt a little more content and able to sleep at night. It was good having a mercenary as your best friend.

"Well if it isn't my favourite hot and sexy neighbour," he said, giving his usual routine, stepping aside to let her pass. "What is today? Booty call? Or have you just come over to borrow a cup of sugar?"

Missy just ignored him, giving a tut, looking down at her phone as she strutted past him, into his apartment.

"Two days Wade, and not so much as a smiley face emoji!" she said with a frustrated huff, as she plonked herself down on the edge of his bed.

Wade kicked the front door shut and gave a frown in her direction.

"Are we talking about Dan the asshole, my sugar-dumpling?" Said the merc in a playful voice, walking over towards her. "I told you he was a piece of fucking shit from the beginning. But ohhh no, you didn't want to listen to me. You were all 'l think he seems like a nice guy...it doesn't matter that he spends all his money on eating out in quirky instagrammable restaurants and getting his ballsack waxed'."

Missy stared up at Wade, shooting him a dark look.

"He's not that bad, Wade," she reprimanded.

But Wade merely gave a scoff. Moving over to his tiny kitchenette.

"Y'now if I was your boyfriend, I probably wouldn't text you back either," he said in a light tone, causing Missy to instantly frown in his direction. "We'd be so busy fucking like bunny rabbits I'd never have the fucking time."

Missy rolled her eyes, and looked back towards her phone as Wade from across the room gave a smirk, his eyes lingering on her pouting face for just a moment.

"So is it too early for me to try and get you drunk on beer so I can hopefully put my hand up your sweater?" said Wade pulling open the fridge door. "Or are you trying to keep a clear head in case you need to have it out with Deputy Dan the douchebag later?"

Missy, at his words, gave a grimace.

"Ugh, could i just get a glass of water?" She said shaking her head. "I've been feeling nauseous all day."

Wade pulling out a bottle of beer for himself, grabbed her a clean glass from the side, glancing back at her from over his shoulder.

"Maybe it's a sign," he said in a tone of faux-seriousness, filling the glass with water from the faucet. "Maybe your body's just expressing what your subconscious thinks of Dan..."

But Missy pursed her lips.

Dan didn't make her feel nauseous.

The first few weeks with him had been great. Good sex, really nice dates (even if the locations were sometimes a little pretentious) and he was pretty good looking.

He was medium height, with brown hair and a charming smile. He worked in marketing and he and Missy had met through a mutual friend.

Although she had to admit they really didn't have much in common. He liked to talk about his business- A LOT! And Missy was just admin at the office she worked at. She tended to zone out the moment he began talking about strategy and profit margins.

But his career of course has meant that he owned a swanky apartment across town. It was lovely but Dan always managed to persuade Missy to stay over after a date. And despite Missy asking him over to her place on several occasions, Dan had accused the neighbourhood of being too dangerous. Which meant that Missy was constantly being made to do the walk of shame each time she stayed over.

But that didn't mean he made her nauseous...did it?

She gave an internal sigh, chucking her cell phone down onto the bed beside her.

Perhaps him not calling her was a good thing.

"I don't know," said Missy in a sad voice. "Why can't I just find a guy that isn't a total jackass for once?"

She glanced up at Wade who was now at her side, holding out the glass of water.

He looked for a moment like he was about to say something, but for once, it never came.

She took the glass from his hand, taking a gentle sip.

"Are you working tonight?" she asked after a moment, looking up at the merc as he pulled off the beer bottle cap with his hand, tossing it down, and taking a swig.

"Nuh-uh, said Wade, giving a grin. "I am all yours. We binge watching the rest of Bridgerton?...Unless you wanna give Dan another call, of course?"

But Missy shook her head, getting to her feet.

"Nope. Corsets and sexy love scenes please," she said firmly, flashing Wade a smile and heading over to his squishy leather couch.

She didn't even notice Wade's eyes follow her as she strutted past him, something in them that even he wasn't really aware of yet...

"Corsets and love scenes it is then," he uttered happily, grabbing the to remote and following her.

Phew! Its been a while right?

Just testing the water to see if anyone would be interested in a little Wade/Missy friendship to romance fluff? Let me know if you'd like me to carry on?
