Author's Headnote: Hello again, great to see this is getting a lot of popularity. And for the 'Severe lack of 'co-operation' problem, Glynda meant it in comparison to other teams. But no matter, this chapter will have some time skips in there, not going through entire days.

And if for those who are curious: This variation of Ruby Rose listens to Classical Music.

Ruby the Renegade: Rose-Cold Rivalry, Part 1

Beacon Academy, 6:00 AM, Saturday, RWBY Dormitory

Ruby had woken up... correction, woken up. As she proceeded to get out of bed to investigate, she had noticed it was Weiss who woke her up, and everyone else on the team. Her eyes feeling heavy from being woken up this early. Sure, she has woken up this early before, but she stayed up later last night because she didn't have classes.

"Wake up! We've got training to do!" Weiss demanded.

"You're not the team leader, dumbass!" Ruby retorted.

"I am not listening to you."

"Still, we're only having training sessions when I demand it!"

"Alright fine, guess I'll warm up and beat you, and claim my title as a leader."

"You want to challenge me to be leader? Fine! But wait at a reasonable time, first."

"Alright, fine." Weiss said, leaving the dorm.

Ruby in a grumpy mood, went back to sleep. The rest of her team, remaining silent, went back to sleep too. She wasn't in the mood to deal with Weiss at the time, she was tired.

Two hours later, Ruby had woken up. She had showered and got dressed to her standard street outfit. She decided to leave her team to sleep. No need to wake them up on a weekend. If they miss out on the day, that's on them.

But for now, Ruby is going to head out and give herself a warm-up to fight Weiss. But first, she decides to eat, no need to fight Weiss at an empty stomach. No need to fight on an empty stomach if one has the choice not to, after all.

Beacon Academy, 8:08 AM, Saturday, Dormitory Commons

Ruby had walked out from the dorm and proceeded to head the commons. She had proceeded to head to the dining area, sat down, and ordered some pancakes. He did this because she felt like ordering some pancakes. As soon as the pancakes were ready, as she was about to cut the pancakes with her knife. She had noticed a large bang, followed by an array of loud stomping.

Ruby didn't let that stop her, and as she was about to cut the pancakes... Nora pops out of nowhere and eats them whole. In which Ruby jumps back from her chair out of shock.

"Gah!" Ruby screamed.

"Hey! Pancakes are my thing. I'll eat them when I smell them!" Nora exclaimed.

"Eat your own food next time, pig."

"I'm not a pig, I'm more of a cat."

"Just stop eating my food, I don't care if it's pancakes, I ordered it, it's mine."

"Wow, greedy much?"

Ruby sighed and ordered waffles. Because she knows Nora wouldn't eat them. She wouldn't want to fight on an empty stomach, or have Nora steal her food. After the same time in waiting, Ruby's waffles were ready and she went to eat them. She's taking her time, no need to over-eat at all, and a side of strawberry milk never hurt anyone. Bite by bite, chewing and chewing, and swallowing... after every quarter of the waffle, she drank a sip from the strawberry milk.

After she was done with her food, she had gotten up and did some stretches. After that, she flipped off Nora and went to grab her weapon.

Beacon Academy, 8:20 AM, Saturday, Locker Room

Ruby had walked to the locker-room, because she was in no rush to fight Weiss, she figured that Weiss would be ready for Ruby regardless at any time. She entered the code on her locker and then grabbed Crescent Rose. After that, she closed the locker, and locked it. After that she had deicded to walk back, taking her sweet time as she notices the empty room with no one else around her.

Yet again, it is early in the morning, so not many people would be up around at this time, and it is a weekend too, so many people are sleeping in. Well, their loss. Ruby's going to have to duel with Weiss soon. So, she just unfolded Crescent rose and folded it back up. And then proceeded to head toward the dueling ground to where Weiss would be. Problem is, she doesn't know where Weiss is at the time, so she'll end up searching the place all over it.

Let's start with the combat arenas. That'll have to be an obvious place to search first. Yet again, she could still be in the Emerald Forest, training. Yet again, Ruby can take her sweet time, it's not like this fight is important to her grade, after-all. So, she may as well take a stroll down Vale and browse the shops, after-all, she promised Blake and Yang an alarm clock. The young huntress had put on her headphones and proceeds to listen to some classical music on her playlist, in which she made sure nothing from Weiss appears.

She boarded a bullhead and went to the commercial district of Vale.

City of Vale, 8:33 AM, Saturday, Commercial District

The commercial district, much similar to downtown, has an array of stores. Although unlike downtown, the commercial district is loaded with buildings designated for commercial use. Such as: stores, theaters, arcades, etc. All of that can be easily found here in the commercial district. Although during daytime it's not that impressive, but at night time, the streets light up. What's it with stores and bright neon lights?

Well, no matter. Ruby was browsing the electronics store. Let's see here... gift cards, video-game consoles, laptops, desktops, some random toys, a dishwasher... this is all the same aisle, by the way. Appearently this is the front near the checkout, filled with gift cards and things they plan on getting rid of soon. Well, Ruby had made her way here and she's going to browse the store for those alarm clocks for her team, minus Weiss. She can get her own alarm clock.

She was looking at the bedroom electronics aisle, filled with laptops, lamps, phone chargers, and... found them! Alarm clocks! She'll have to buy three separate brands, so they emmit a different alarm, so they don't mix up whose alarm people has. Ruby may be a jerk, but she's not evil. But no less, Ruby grabbed the three alarm clocks. All of which are from different manufacturers. One is red and silver, one is black and purple, the third being a dark shade of yellow. She's got the lien to afford it, so she can make due with spending some for a practical reason.

Ruby then walked and waited at the check-out, noticing people grabbing the various electronics and appliances at this part of the store, guess they are desperate to buy something and not wander the store. She's not going to judge them. Although she is going to judge that old woman at the checkout, who only got a mini-fridge and is paying everything with 1 lien coins. And then she loses count, and then she starts over. She is right behind this woman too, so she's giving her the evil eye.

Ruby, tapping her foot out of impatience watching the woman lose track of the coins after someone heckles and starts over really drives Ruby over the edge... she has to remain calm; she's got delicate electronics in her possession. Of course, why the impatience? She's not in a hurry... She's not sure why Weiss decided to try and order the team to train, she's not leader, sure she's aiming to be, and Ruby doesn't intend to be usurped anytime soon.

But after awhile, the woman finally got her minifridge payed for, and Ruby went in to check out her alarm clocks. Well, her team's alarm clocks. After she placed the alarm clocks on the counter, she gave them the 700 Lien, received the change, and received the bag used to carry the alarm clocks back to the dorm. In which she takes the bullhead, where it would ride back toward Beacon Academy.

Beacon Academy, 8:54 AM, Saturday, RWBY Dormitory

Ruby had walked back toward Beacon Academy, and such through the dormitory halls, and then finally the RWBY Dormitory. In which she had gotten back from the electronics store. She then placed the plastic bag on Blake's night-stand and sat down on Weiss' bed. She noticed that Blake had noticed the plastic bag and went to confront them.

"What's exactly in that plastic bag?" Blake asked.

"Alarm clocks, what did you think I brought you?" Ruby retorted.

"Alarm Clocks?"

"Yes. One for me, one for you, one for Yang."

"And Weiss?"

"The Ice Bitch can spend her daddy's money on her own alarm clock."

"Oh ya, I remember now. Also, why did you get an alarm clock for yourself, you wake up super-early?"

"Because I don't always go to sleep at 7PM like some weird machine."

"I suppose that's a fair reason, so it's more so of a backup."

"Yes, precisely. Don't thank me for this, this is a necessity for you and Yang if you two don't want to be constantly woken up by me."

"Well, that's fair... so which one is mine?"

"I don't know, pick your favorite! it's an alarm clock, not your full course meal!"

"Well, I see..." Blake said, picking out the black and purple alarm clock.

"Where's Yang, by the way?" Ruby asked.

"She's hanging out with her friends, why do you ask?"

"Just curious."

"So... did you and Weiss fight for the spot of leader yet?"

"Nope, I was just taking care of the essentials before I confront Weiss."

"Well, good luck on the fight then."

"No need, I'll be meeting with Weiss soon enough." Ruby said, leaving the dormitory to find and confront Weiss. Although chances are she would be done training by now and would be at either one of the arenas. That means Ruby would have to go to the outdoor combat arena... well, find it first.

Thankfully she has the tablet on hand with a map of the school. In which Ruby has went to follow to the outdoor combat arena.

Beacon Academy, 9:07 AM, Saturday, Outdoor Combat Arena

The outdoor combat arena. Where as unlike the indoor one, the outdoor one doesn't have a place for an audience, for this is commonly for students to spar in, or duel, or settle their debates. Only rules are no severe injuries or deaths. Which makes sense, given it's a school, no need to have students killing each other for no reason. Not like anyone here would be bloodthirsty anyway. The Arena itself is suited similar to the one in the indoor combat arena, minus the bleachers as mentioned before. However, the area around it is much larger given it's behind the school and around the cafeteria and all.

There Weiss stood, in the center, waiting for Ruby to confront her. In which Ruby stood on the platform, across from Weiss. It was still in the morning, and there weren't that much people around.

"There you are, I thought you would chicken out." Weiss taunted.

"Oh, I just did stuff normal people do at the weekend mornings. Sleep in, get up, go to the bathroom, shower, eat breakfast, buying alarm clocks for my team." Ruby retorted.

"Well, what are you waiting for, fight me!" Weiss retorted.

"No no, not yet. You need to wait one hour, go eat something! Fighting someone who tires themselves out at the forest whilst on an empty stomch would be too easy of a target. Just go eat, and do whatever it is you do for an hour, and then meet back here!"

"Oh, I see, you're going to catch up on your training to oust me!"

"No, dumbass, I don't want to fight a stressed bitch! Go get yourself in a focused and relaxed mood and then fight!"

"I'm not letting you get an edge over me!"

"Hold on, let me ask this first. Why did you decide to order me and all of team RWBY to train at 6 AM? And then go to train by yourself for two hours?"

"To challenge your authority, duh."

"You are as dense as you are spoiled."

"Excuse me?"

"There are much better ways to challenge my authority than just barking orders. You are basically acting like a small dog."

"So, you're not going to fight me?"

"Just to spite you, no, I'm not. I'd prefer a rival who doesn't obsess over me every second of her life, go do whatever, we'll have the duel tomorrow."

"Name the time and place."

"Indoor combat arena, 12 PM."

"I can manage that."

"Well, get out of my face, I don't want to deal with you during my off-time. If you excuse me, I'll need to head to the forest and do some private training myself." Ruby said, leaving. Followed by flipping off Weiss whilst turning around and walking backwards, and then turning around and walking forward.

And then something catches her eye. She sees Cardin bullying Jaune around like a helpless child. Correction, a very helpless child. He is on his stomach, on the floor, with a foot at his spine. Ruby's been in that position before, she feels sorry for Jaune.

Well, given that Ruby is not a fan of bullies, she confronted Cardin.

"Get off of him." Ruby demanded.

"Oh, does the little girl want to play hero?" Cardin taunted.

"The fact that you said that is proof you don't belong here."

"Excuse me?"

"Huntsmen and Huntresses risk their lives fighting grimm and defending the harmless. What it looks like you're doing is picking on a defenseless boy, acting like the very thing you came here to stop."

"Nobody really becomes a huntsman for the noble duties, they do it for the fame and fortune."

"You will be neither if all you do is pick on weak targets, you're just going to die fighting a griffon or a taijutu, and no one would even know your name. People will remember you, but as that bully who never challenges himself and picks on weak targets to project his own weakness. If you have any personal issues, take it out on the grimm, not Vomit Boy, here! You think picking on others makes you cool, popular? No, it does not! It makes you look like a selfish prick who only cares for himself!"

"Your words aren't going to change how I think."

"So be it." Ruby said, punching Cardin the groin, which causes him to lose his balance and fall off of Jaune.

Ruby then sighed and helped Jaune off the ground, in which she then gave Jaune the evil eye.

"Err... thank you?" Jaune said.

"Take my advice, man up and stand up for yourself. You're a leader, act like it!" Ruby scolded.

"Well, that's some good advice. I'll try to be more assertive next time." Jaune stated.

"Good. Don't make me come and save you next time." Ruby said, leaving the area for real this time, without any interruptions. Maybe now once she could get her team (minus Weiss) in one place, the three of them can starting training.

Beacon Academy, 12:00 PM, Sunday, Indoor Combat Arena

Ruby had spent time yesterday training with her team for four hours (minus Weiss). They were focused on combat skills and co-operation, they had done it in the Emerald Forest, of course. Albeit the latter part was a bit awkward given that Ruby was more used to working alone, and trying to come up with ways to take advantage of Blake and Yang's combat skills for tact was hard. So, for now... she's telling them to improvise and get creative.

Although that was then, this is now. It was 12 PM, and her and Weiss are having their second duel. The two of them have drew up some attention and rumors have drawn them a crowd, consisting of the various Beacon students. They are sitting in the bleachers. The audience gazes back and sees the two trainee huntresses circle across the arena, with Ruby spinning her scythe around, then stopping. And Weiss, who was slashing her rapier around and then had it raised just above the floor, so it wouldn't drag but it still looks like she's dragging it.

And then after all of that, the fight began. The two of them went to fight toward each other, using on their weapons, not their semblances. Ruby started off with a ranged attack with a couple of bullets. And then went to the Melee. Weiss although got grazed by the bullets, is doing a much better job against the Scythe. Ruby's range means she's going to stay on the offensive, and it would take a lot of work for Weiss to break out of the defensive.

In which Ruby eventually went to feint an attack, which Weiss was getting ready to parry, only for Ruby to went and slice another direction. After that, Weiss started using her semblance to gain an edge, although versatile... she's too Slow for Ruby, who which uses her semblance to not only parry the attack, but counter-attack as well. Trying to use speed to attack someone with a speed semblance is like trying to beat Yang in an arm-wrestling contest, one either has to use 100% of their muscle, or fail. The latter being much more common. Likewise, Weiss would have to be faster than with how Ruby can react, which is saying a lot. One time, a bolt of lightning almost struck her, but Ruby got out of the striking range in time.

Likewise, Ruby is faster than Weiss. Well, at least Ruby thinks she is so. And then Ruby notices a black glyph on her feet, inhibiting her movement. And Weiss charging towards her using glyphs. Ruby managed to parry the attack, but more upcoming. She's attempting to use her glyphs to use speed to blitz someone with a speed semblance, albeit one whose trapped under a black inhibition glyph. Ruby then had a plan, she would plan to block and parry the attacks whilst letting her through, this would make sure Weiss focuses more on the attack, and not focusing on keeping the black glyph intact. After the next parry Ruby is prepared to take on the offensive, after Weiss prepares to jump towards Ruby from above Ruby jumped and slashed upward.

The glyph broke and Weiss' offensive broke, whilst mid-air Ruby slashed downward, knocking Weiss down. And then Ruby jumped back across the arena. In which she waits for Weiss to get up, and then she went to blitz using her semblance to attack the recently upped Weiss, in which she parried the attack. Ruby was knocked back from the parry and Weiss went at the offensive, she's moving faster than normal... guess some special semblance thing. The Schnee family semblance has a lot of tricks up their speed, guess Ruby would have to be dodging for a bit, trying to avoid the faster than normal Weiss.

She was moving fast, maybe she slowed down time or sped herself up, either way. She's going to have to be on the defensive a bit and not risk going on the offensive for something that Ruby would have to use her semblance to dodge Weiss' attacks. It doesn't help she's using her glyphs whilst in this-sped up state. Although the innevitable happened, Weiss landed a hit on Ruby, and continued to do so consecutively, with each hit stunning Ruby, making her unable to counter. And as soon as Weiss went back to normal speed, Ruby recovered and went on the offensive, attacking Weiss and knocked her down.

With the aura levels displaying Weiss at 20%, it's safe to say that Ruby has won the match. Although she sees Weiss getting back up and trying again... but Ruby just parried and did nothing.

"Your aura is in the red, you lost." Ruby stated.

"You didn't specify that in the rules." Weiss countered.

"Well, so be it. Don't complain when you wake up with a hurting head." Ruby stated, re-engaging.

Weiss engaged as well, with the two fighters taking the offensive, they both take a hit from one another. And they proceed to do so. Eventually at that point, Weiss' aura had broken. And it was at that point where Ruby decided it was enough.

"Give up, your aura's broken." Ruby stated.

"You weren't fighting fair!" Weiss objected.

"Sore loser too? Kind of a given being that you're a spoiled bitch as well."

"I can still fight!"

"Your aura. Is. Broken. I still have mine. Get it through your thick skull, if we continue fighting you will get hurt!"

"Since when do you care about my health?"

"Because you're my teammate, dumbass."

"We're rivals!"

"But we're still on the same team, which means we still have to work together, despite our relations. And you've lost, I've proven well enough I am capable of leadership. And all you are doing is embarrassing yourself in front of the public. So, stop being a bitch and get back to the dorm."

"Alright fine, but this isn't over."

"I am more than aware of that. Next time, don't try to wake the team up early, that's my job." Ruby demanded, leaving the combat arena with Weiss.

Beacon Academy, 9:55 AM, Tuesday, History Class (In Session)

Professor... well, DOCTOR Oobleck is going over the faunas rights movement that happened around sixty years ago, twenty years after the great war. Ruby and Weiss had more than enough food to be focused, being that the two of them had managed to eat four breakfasts to try and one-up each other. So, Ruby was taking notes, aggressively and faster than Weiss was whilst making it eligible. He's going on the basic lecture.

"Although to you, it may seem like ancient history, but this is very recent stuff! The impact of the faunas rights movement still impacts our very lives today! The White Fang is a notable example. Now who among all of you have been harassed for your faunas heritage?" Oobleck asked.

All the faunas students have raised their hands. Well, the ones everyone know is a faunas, it's not like there's any faunas trying to pretend to be human, is there? Well, no matter it seems after a bit they put their hands down and the lecture is continuing.

"Does anyone here know the battle that turned the tide in favor of the faunas?" Oobleck asked.

"The battle at Fort Castle." Weiss answered.

"That is correct. Now, does anyone here know what advantage the faunas had over the general's troops?"

"They had night vision and enhanced hearing. The general had tried to attack the faunas at night, not knowing that the faunas had enhanced senses that allow them to see better at night and better hearing to hear the ambush." Ruby answered.

"That is correct. If the general had known this detail about the faunas people, the war would have ended up in a different direction. However, this is not the place to discuss alternate history, since alt-history may as well be no different than fanfiction."

BRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

"Well, that's all the time we had here, I'll be seeing you on Thursday. Remember to read chapters 8-10." Oobleck announced, with the class leaving the room, heading to their next class.

Beacon Academy, 12:07 PM, Tuesday, Cafeteria

Ruby and Weiss were stuffing their mouths with various foods, even stuff either one wouldn't eat. Meanwhile Yang was just staring at the two... with her meal consisting of bacon-wrapped steak (cooked medium-rare) dipped in ultra-BBQ hot sauce. With chicken fries on the side. With her drink being an extra-large grape soda. Of course, she couldn't forget the potato fries, covered in cheese, bacon shavings, and ranch dressing, the whole bucket of them. Yang was of course, eating the steak with a fork and knife. Blake had some sort of fish sandwich, as normal. What's it with her and fish?

As for Ruby and Weiss, they ordered the same exact array of food, and is racing to eat their food as if it was an eating contest. The food itself consists of various meals, with Weiss having vegetarian equivalents. Ruby would have considered eating the vegetarian equivalents too, but that's just petty, even for Ruby. However, plenty of people are complaining that there is less food because of Ruby and Weiss' regular eating contests.

"Why are you two eating so much food, could you just order less?" Blake asked out of concern.

"And let Weiss gloat? Never!" Ruby said, with her mouth filled with food.

"Plenty of people are very angry at you two." Yang commented.

"Yang, stay out of this! Besides, you eat large amounts at regular!" Ruby yelled with her mouth stuffed with more food.

"None of which is good for you." Weiss said, after swallowing what's in her mouth.

After Ruby swallowed, she went and stuffed another part of her food in her mouth.

Yang just sighed.

And just like that, as Ruby continued shoving food down her mouth, she had noticed a rabbit faunas' ears being tugged around by Cardin. That guy really gets on her nerves. Ruby had swallowed what's in her mouth and picked up and threw a grapefruit at Cardin's head.

"Hey, who threw that?" Cardin demanded.

"Do we have to go over this again?" Ruby countered.

"You again!"

"Yes, me. I suggest you stop picking on her unless you want your groin be on the receiving end of my foot again." Ruby threatened.

"Alright, alright, I'll leave her alone." Cardin said, moving toward the other side of the cafeteria.

"Ruby, isn't that taking it a bit far?" Yang asked.

"He's harassing people for no reason! He deserves it." Ruby stated.

"I won!" Weiss said, with all of her plates emptied.

Ruby growled at that. And Yang just sighed again.

Author's Footnote: Yes, it's a 2-parter. Yes, you can complain. Given that I have to work on other works and this chapter has a lot of content planned for it, I'll have to break it into two parts. I actually originally planned for Weiss to wake Ruby up at 4 AM and for Ruby to eat the vegetarian stuff like Weiss, but I figured that was just stupid. However, I feel like now would be the time to hop into my other fanwork and work on it. Don't let the pancake be charred and all. Sorry for the inconvenience. See you next chapter-ish.
