Author's Headnote: Remember when I said I wouldn't try to tread on canon, well... sorry about that... I needed something for character development. But now, here we are... back on track. So, without further ado, let's jump into the chapter. Also, Time skip!
Ruby the Renegade: Forever Fall
Beacon Academy, Thursday, 12:00 PM, Cafeteria
It's been a month at Beacon and well... Ruby has sort gotten rude again, but not too much. She still tries to remain her cool, though. Basically, she's moody, but not aggressive anymore. She also has a strange habit of flipping coins. She has also coordinated her team to fight better, still has yet to win a team match, though. If Weiss would actually follow orders instead of trying to one-up Ruby. There's a time and a place for everything. She needs to learn some obedience! No, not in that way.
No matter, there is a field trip tomorrow... well, it's better than another week of tests. Ruby was eating a well-done steak as the rest of team RWBY, along with JNPR look at her like she is performing human sacrifice. It's just a steak, she likes it fully cooked, like all meat products should be: fully cooked. She doesn't see the issue with this, people don't eat undercooked chicken, why should undercooked cow be any different?
"It's just steak!" Ruby yelled.
"You literally committed arson!" Ren yelled.
"Try eating a chicken medium-rare." Ruby stated.
"It's not the same!" Weiss yelled.
"You don't eat meat, Ice Queen, shut your pie-hole." Ruby countered.
"Still doesn't justify you... ruining a perfectly good steak." Jaune stated.
"It's still meat, and meat has to be cooked all the way."
"Not steak, steak only has bacteria in the surface of the meat." Blake stated, whilst browsing her scroll.
"This is not a science class, go do research there, pointdexter." Ruby retorted.
"It's just... so... wrong." Nora said.
"How about you focus on eating your own food, so we don't have to have this argument every time I eat a steak." Ruby said, putting on her headphones, drowning out the voices out. So she can focus more so on eating. Instead of them complaining about Ruby's steaks. She doesn't complain about Weiss' vegetarianism, or the fact that Blake has a diet of a feral cat living on the beach. Or Yang's artery's being clogged with the entire mammal other than human and faunas. Wait... are bird faunas birds or mammals? What about reptile faunas? Are faunas considered mammals regardless of what animal features they have? What even is a faunas?
But no less, she's glad she won't have to study for a test tomorrow.
Beacon Academy, 7:33 PM, Thursday, RWBY Dormitory
Ruby had just changed into her pajamas. She was just preparing to fall asleep. When Yang decided to just make noise... so she put on her sleeping headphones to help block out the noise. The sleeping headphones look like those sleeping eye covers but also covers the ears as it helps the user listen to music while they sleep. Well, Ruby tried to do so. but than she moves her headphones off of her eyes and sees that Nora and Pyrrha are here. All of them are playing games with their pajamas. And it appears that most of them are gathered around for a tea party. It turns out Ruby was apparently not invited to a slumber party in her own dorm. She than got up and grabbed a sleeping bag out from the closet.
"If you excuse me, I'll be sleeping on the porch tonight." Ruby said, heading to leave the dorm.
"Don't you want to party?" Yang asked.
"We have a field trip tomorrow, and that means we may be heading to a place chalk full of grimm, I don't want to be tired whilst fighting grimm."
"Well, Madam Buzzkillington, the door is that way." Yang said in a mocking and posh tone.
"So... what do you think of Jaune?" Pyrrha said.
"Our team leader? Great guy, good friend." Nora said.
"He's a bit dull, but at least he doesn't bother me." Weiss retorted.
"He's not my type." Blake stated.
Ruby than flipped her coin. And than left, just giving out an evil eye toward everyone as she left to sleep outside.
Beacon Academy, 7:40 PM, Thursday, Dormitory Balcony
Turns out Jaune showed up here again, although he's training with his weapon. However, she's not going to have this today.
"Jaune, can you please go train somewhere else?" Ruby said in a monotone voice.
"Err... why?" Jaune asked.
"Because I'm going to be sleeping here." Ruby retorted with a grumpy tone.
"Why?"
"The rest of the girls figured a pajama party, tea-party, and pillow fight 3-in-1 is a good idea, and I want to sleep."
"So THAT'S where Nora and Pyrrha went to. Can you tell Pyrrha I said hi?"
"I am not going to be your wingwoman."
"Alright fine, I'll be heading out elsewhere." Jaune said, moping as he left.
Now that she has the balcony all to herself, she set up the sleeping bad, her sleeping headphones with a scroll alarm set to 6 AM. Finally, she was ready to fall asleep.
Vale Outskirts, 9:12 AM, Friday, Forever Fall
Forever Fall, the forests of north. It's called that because the leaves on the trees are naturally red, and the constant fall of leaves tends to emulate the season of fall, it's beautiful, really. With the leaves around looking orange, covered in the red leaves, that fell from the naturally growing red tree leaves from the tree. A rare tree that only grows in Vale.
"I know, the forests of Forever Fall are beautiful. But we're not here to sight see. The creatures of grimm are rampant here and you need to keep your guard up. Professor Peach needs to acquire a bunch of sap from these trees for a project she is working on." Professor Goodwitch stated.
"In addition, you are not to drink the tree sap, the trees here have an important material in their sap for creating dust concoctions, commonly associated with lubricants and adhesive alike. This is for the dust studies professor, not the academy, cook." Glynda announced. While Nora proceeded to drink from the sap.
Ren than placed his palm on his face and went to grab Nora. Ruby doesn't blame him, if one of her teammates did that, she would be embarrassed too. No matter, she got a jar from Glynda and started looking for a tree.
That was stupid, there are trees everywhere, so she went to the first one aaaand... this was the one Nora was drinking from... so the sap was very little in quantity. She needed an entire jar of this stuff, unfortunately, the properties of the sap make it kind of... hard. Since it is sticker than most tree saps, meaning less of it will come off. After all, it is the dust studies professor who wants the tree-sap, so it is clearly not intended to be eaten. Jaune was there suffering as he went and collected the sap. Cardin was holding two jars for some reason. Wonder what that will be for.
But no less here Ruby is, with jar and knife at hand, scraping tree sap off of these trees.
"So... how's the sap going, Ruby?" Yang asked.
"I'm scraping an organic adhesive off of a tree, what do you think it's going? Also, shouldn't you be filling your jar?" Ruby retorted.
"I already filled mine."
"Does it have wood chippings in it? If it has wood chippings, you have to dump the thing and start over."
"Well... I wish you told me that sooner."
"That's what I thought, now shut up so I can concentrate on scrapping Tree sap!"
"Well at least you've been nicer about it lately." Yang said, dumping the jar and scrapping out wood chippings as she went to get another bunch of tree sap.
Well, as she was heading to another tree to fill the sap, she doesn't take a lot because she doesn't want to get wood chippings and be forced to throw away the sap, she ends up having the sap being from a larger diverse scale of trees than most students.
Well... after twenty minutes, she just needed sap from one more tree. Her team, along with JNPR were near or adjacent to Ruby, with Yang on attempt number seven. And _NPR just about done and sightseeing. Blake is just reading her book. Jaune is asleep, and have a red face, he must be allergic to the stuff. She doesn't know what Weiss is doing though. And than suddenly, someone threw their tree sap jar at Ruby.
"Alright, Weiss! This is not funny!" Ruby yelled.
"I'm right here, filling up Blake's jar because she won't do it." Weiss retorted.
"Wait, you have two jars? Then who threw the..." Ruby said, before being swarmed by Rapier Wasps.
She doesn't know how or why, but a bunch of Rapier Wasps have suddenly swarmed down on to Ruby, as she went to swat the things, Weiss was outright laughing. And no one wanted to get near because they'd end up getting attacked by them too. So here Ruby is, being swarmed by rapier wasps. Being stung and swarmed at every move she did her best try and move.
"GET THESE THINGS AWAY FROM ME!" Ruby yelled.
"Professor Goodwitch! Ruby's being swarmed by rapier wasps!" Yang yelled, getting for some help.
Weiss was just laughing at the incident.
Ruby keeps swiping her hands at thing. And out of sheer desperation, she ran towards Weiss and tried to yank her sword from Weiss.
"Hey! I don't wanna get stung." Weiss yelled, using her glyphs to repel the wasps.
"Can you at least kill them?" Ruby asked.
"Make me leader."
"Not even in your dreams, Ice bitch."
"Then I'll watch you suffer."
And when matters get worse, she hears an ursa major charging in... likely smelling all that tree sap Yang's been dumping. Which means Ruby is being swarmed by rapier wasps and being attacked by an ursa. Thankfully she hears the waking members of team JNPR intervening on the ursa. Not sure why they would save Ruby, she's currently defenseless fighting and swatting off rapier wasps. Ruby is going to find whoever did this to her, and she is going to have the last laugh.
Thankfully, she would get a miracle when Glynda showed up and used her semblance to telekinetically lift the rapier wasps and throw the across the other side of the continent. Ruby's hands can finally relax. Thankfully her aura managed to heal off those wasp stings, but she still feels the pain. She may as well finish off the sap, and find out who threw their jar at Ruby. Because she doesn't take actions like being a rapier wasp lure so lightly. She also has to clean her cloak.
Well, no less... she ended up finishing up collecting tree sap. Not a single chip of wood. She handed the jar to professor goodwitch, and decided to wander around the forest. For sightseeing, not for finding out who threw the jar at Ruby... well, actually, it actually is for the latter. She came across a hill with an open and empty box saying: 'rapier wasps'. Ruby used her scroll to take pictures. She is going to be busy trying to figure out this person's handwriting, and she is going to make that person pay.
Beacon Academy, 8:00 PM, Friday, History Class (Not in Session)
Ruby broke in Doctor Oobleck's classroom, and used the picture of a scroll to find the handwriting that matched the person who had sic those Wasps on Ruby. She is not going to let this go, she is going to get even on them.
What Ruby is doing is right now, is going through the history professor's file cabinets for tests and classwork. She's been going through it all, she's doing this at night, because she knows that none of the staff actually checks up on the school at night. No security, really. So, she can just go in, pick the lock, and pick the lock of her history professor's file cabinet for the papers of the students. She isn't looking for answer sheets, rather looking for turned in student assignments, tests, homework, the typical finding handwriting stuff.
After going through the handwriting for an hour, she finally found a match. It was written by... Cardin Winchester. Who has he again? Ruby tried to remember. Ah, he was the guy who likes to bully faunas and wimpy blonde kids for no reason. Didn't figure this guy to learn on rapier wasps, must have bullied someone to do his report. Well... speaking of... Ruby has an idea... and it's one so devilish, that if Ruby was idealistic, she would have been disgusted by it. But hey, he threw rapier wasps on Ruby. And she's going to get some incredibly petty payback.
Beacon Academy, 9:04 PM, Friday, CRDL Dormitory
Ruby could smell all the tossed around dirty laundry just by being here. It's very sweaty, and repulsive. But smelling laundry is not why she's here, not that she would do that. She's here to simply forge Cardin's homework assignments to match Weiss' save for the name. She also grabbed Weiss' homework as well. Ruby went to look around, carefully not waking up any member of team CRDL as she went to find Cardin's binder. Or wherever he puts his homework. The first thing Ruby notices is that they left the fridge open in it's glory, all that food gone to waste. Well, it's their stomachs that are going to get curled up, not Ruby's. So that would be karma for those rapier wasps. But she wants to bring retribution in her own hands, not in karma's. Hence, why she's here.
Eventually Ruby found the desk where all the binders are. She went by looking through the first one... that's Russel's. And that's Skyes's. Dove doesn't have one. Ah, here's Cardin's.
As Ruby went to go through Cardin's homework, Ruby picked out the Dust Studies assignments as a form of irony, given the sap was for professor peach and all. She noticed that it was blank, name included. No matter, she managed to forge Cardin's handwriting on the name spot, and she proceeds to forge Weiss' handwriting on the answers. Doesn't matter if they're right or wrong, so as long as they match Weiss' answers exactly in term and writing, while using a thin, black permanent marker so that it would like that he used a printer to copy Weiss' homework. He's going to get in trouble for cheating, it is the plan Ruby has in store after all. After she spent half an hour copying Weiss' homework to Cardin, he put his homework away, and went to sneak out of the dorm before anyone notices.
Beacon Academy, 9:19 PM, Friday, RWBY Dormitory
Well, the revenge plot put a lot on the young trainee huntress. After a successful scheme, Ruby would figure it'd be time to put Weiss' homework back where she found it. Losing her homework would be no honest way to get a leg-up in the rivalry. Ruby sighed as she went to take a shower, and proceeded to change into her pajamas and fall asleep. Well, she will need the rest, considering she does still feel the rapier wasp stings.
Beacon Academy, 8:00 AM, Monday, Dust Studies (In Session)
Well, with all of the weekend and morning shenanigans thrown aside, nothing really happened. But now is time and watch her work at large. Ruby and Weiss already turned in their homework when they got here. Now to wait for Cardin to turn in his. As he looked into his Binder, he looks surprised.
As he went to turn in the paper, Ruby snickered. Nobody noticed, which is good. And as he turned in the paper, Professor Peach took a good look at it. And she ordered that Cardin is stand right there. And she went to find Weiss' paper.
"Care to explain?" Professor Peach demanded to Cardin.
"I don't know what you're talking about! I was lucky that I managed to do my homework on time!" Cardin stated.
"You... or Miss Schnee? You sure you didn't copy her homework with the printer?"
"What!? I didn't copy anyone's homework; I almost never do my own!"
"Uh huh... tell that to the headmaster when I report you for cheating. You are removed from the class." Professor Peach said, pointing toward the door.
"Can't believe I got in trouble just for submitting complete homework." Cardin said, leaving the classroom.
Ruby snickered again, as she got the last laugh for the rapier wasps. She really, really, doesn't like Cardin. Especially after what he did to Ruby. But after getting him in trouble for 'cheating'. Well, Ruby just feels a bit giddy from that.
And with her team, which she's growing a bit attached to, well... being in a team may not be that bad after all...
Author's Footnote: Sorry to break this to ya... but this is the last chapter. I just grew bored with the idea. So I figure, I'd end at Forever Fall, being that I don't want to just rewrite the entire story of RWBY with an incredibly mean Ruby. Like I said, this is just a test fiction for a personality. And I think this is a good point to end the test. Sorry to disappoint with the abrupt ending. Although I would have ended when Vol 1 ended, but I just grew bored with the concept. Even than, the docks part is really Blake-centered, and given the concept of this fic is about Ruby... well... ya... that's the entire story, I would say 'See ya next chapter', but this is the last chapter for this fanfic. I'll start working on the Crossover fic I've been working on, I already have one in development, but now I've gotten a new Idea so I'll work on that instead.
