Garro's POV

"Only in death does duty end"

He had lived a hard life. From the day he enlisted in the Dusk Raiders legion, Nathaniel Garro had seen, heard, and accomplished many feats. The discovery of his primarch Mortarion on Barbarus, the triumph of Ullanor, the Siege of Terra. The list of battles he participated in would go on for miles. Unlike his brethren, he did not seek glory or personal achievements on the battlefield. Instead, Garro dedicated his life to carrying out his duty and oath to the Emperor. He swore that he would uphold the tenets of the Imperial Truth, that he would protect humanity with his life, and that he would purge anyone that opposed him.

Right now, there was someone that potentially opposed him.

His brown eyes, enhanced by his gene-seed, scoured over the psyker who summoned him. Like so many other mortals, Garro sensed the rising surge of fear within the mortal. Behind the jet-black eyes, he knew that the psyker was slightly terrified of him. A clenched jaw, the closed fists, and the drops of sweat on his forehead were signs of his inhuman presence that was infecting him.

Garro shifted his stance slightly and placed his giant broadsword to his left thigh plate, where it was magnetically attached. Resting his right hand on the grip of his master-crafted Paragon bolter, he asked what the summoner's name was.

"Junichiro Marchosias, sir," he siad. Satisfied, he surveyed the rest of his would-be companions.

The first one was a young teenager with bright blonde hair and striking blue eyes. Fear and terror were in his eyes, but Garro saw the scars of battle and loss in those eyes. 'If he was younger, he would be a suitable aspirant to become a Legiones Astartes.' he thought to himself.

The second one was an older man garbed in a mix of leather and metal armor. The orange cat-like eyes gave away the fact that he was not an ordinary person. The Astartes kept a wary distance between him and the medieval swordsman. Despite the wide gap between them in terms of weaponry, Garro did not trust the old man. There was a strange feeling between him and the old man, but he couldn't tell what brought them together. Was it the fact that they were both augmented humans or was it something else that made them kindred spirits? Banishing the thought to the deep recesses of his mind, he scowled at the last figure.

Garro estimated that the person was taller than him by half a meter. The former Primus Agentia had never seen any Xeno like him before. A fully mechanical being, the person reminded him of the mythical Men of Iron, robotic warriors who went rogue after becoming sentient. Despite its imposing height, the mechanical being exuded an aura of calmness and tranquility. But Garro knew better than to blindly trust a Xeno.

Turning his gaze at the summoner, he questioned him. "Why did you summon me? More importantly, where am I?"

The summoner sighed and rubbed his eyebrows, "I needed an experienced veteran, someone who has seen and survived numerous battles. Your name came up and I decided to summon you. Right now, you're in an underground bunker in Kuoh Town, Japan".

He narrowed his eyes at the summoner, ready to unleash a torrent of barbed words that would shred away the flimsy explanation. But that would have to wait. "I mean, which planet am I on right now? Is this Earth?"

"Yes, it is" the summoner meekly answered. The mortal slowly backed away as the giant approached him. Gently grabbing his arms, Garro stopped the mortal from fleeing. "Wait, what year is it?"

"2012, sir. Early third millennium."

Like a viral bomb, confusion invaded his mind and Garro stepped away from the mortal. He shook his head in disbelief and muttered, "By the Throne...". Terra had not begun its Dark Age of Technology. The concept of Warp Drives or the Warp itself would not exist until the 15th millennium, which meant there was ample time to warn humanity to avoid using the Warp for FTL purposes.

"I must speak with your chief of aeronautical sciences immediately. Humanity must not use the Warp to travel the stars." He walked past the summoner when he felt something dragging his foot. His footsteps grinding to a halt, he turned around to see the summoner pointing a finger at him. Instantly, he leveled his Paragon bolter at the summoner when a flickering shadow interposed itself between him and the psyker.

The mechanical being raised its war hammer to protect itself as the rounds exploded off its armor. Garro grabbed his broadsword when a cold shiver ran down his spine and paralyzed him. The Xeno stepped aside for its master, who approached him.

"There is no need to warn humanity about the Warp, Mr. Garro." the summoner began. Garro built up a glob of acidic phlegm in his mouth and spat it at the psyker. The acidic spit landed on the summoner's chest and began eating away at his clothing and exposed flesh. The mortal hissed in pain, but he recovered as the wound regenerated before Garro's eyes.

"Like I was saying, humanity doesn't need to know about the Warp because it doesn't exist in this world," Jun explained.

"I know that it does not exist in this world, but there may be something similar," Garro stated. "By warning them, humanity will find an alternative method and eventually conquer the cosmos."

Jun shrugged his shoulders, "Okay, but the scientific community might not believe you. Even if you gave them concrete evidence, some may advocate to use it as an FTL method despite its risks."

"Then, I will stop them myself." Garro countered.

Turning away from the stubborn Astartes, Jun took a moment to compose himself before confronting Garro. "Both of us know that the Warp is not the current issue right now. It's the supernatural world we need to be worried about. There are hundreds of factions that want to take over Earth. We should be focusing on them instead of warning humanity about something that doesn't exist."

In his mind, Garro admitted that he was a bit too hasty and that Jun had a point. When he passed through the golden portal, knowledge about the new world entered his mind. He was a bit surprised to find out that this world had mythological creatures and actual gods from the ancient religious texts. He knew that there were potential factions that wanted to destroy Earth, but he did not know how many factions existed. And besides, he had 11,988 years to warn humanity about the Warp.

"I admit you have a valid point, Junichiro Marchosias. I was too hasty in my actions." Garro conceded. Slowly, the paralysis on his body disappeared and he was able to move. Rubbing his chest, Jun sighed.

"Now then, let's do it right this time." He said and began introducing Garro to his new battle-brothers.

Raynare's POV

What the hell was that?

Hiding behind a wall, she listened to the conversation between Jun and the giant warrior. Even after the summoning ritual, she was still terrified by the giant's presence. It didn't make sense for a human to have such a terrifying presence. The soldier had no magical aura, yet he had a dominating air around him. the sound of footsteps approaching her made her stomach churn and she ran into the darkness. There was a hum and a flash of light behind her as the room powered up. Oblivious to her, Jun and his team walked into the room and she slipped inside. Standing discreetly in a corner, she watched the meeting unfold.

"As I said earlier, my name is Nathaniel Garro and I am a Legiones Astartes, a soldier of the Imperium of Man. In simple terms, I am a Space Marine, a genetically modified supersoldier. I once served in a Space Marine legion called the Death Guard, but they and eight others betrayed the Imperium. A long and bloody civil war occurred and lasted for nine years. We won the war, but at a great price. Many battle-brothers were slain and we lost our leader, the God-Emperor of Man. Like so many others, I succumbed to my wounds and died defending Earth. I will not squander this second chance and I swear I will do my best to defend humanity from evil."

Eugeo raised his hand and asked, "How many legions were there?"

"Nineteen in total. Each legion was led by a primarch, who were the sons of the Emperor. The Death Guard was the fourteenth legion and led by Mortarion." Garro said. He continued, "If you have any questions about my past, I will answer them at a later date. For now, I wish to know the current situation."

"I have been tasked to gather a team of fifteen members, who will aid me in my mission..." Jun began. To Raynare, it sounded crazy. Creating an unofficial peerage to defeat an upcoming invasion? That was a load of bullshit until Jun tapped a holographic map of a galaxy.

"This is a map of the Multiverse, a galaxy filled with multiple universes. Each universe is protected with its own shield, meaning no one can invade or leave their home universe. Lately, the enemy has been invading the universe and killing their inhabitants." Snapping his fingers, a large swath of the galaxy was covered in red.

"This universe is one of many targeted worlds the enemy wants to destroy. If we repel the invasion, they will be unable to conquer Earth until later." The map faded away and Jun crossed his arms.

"What is the enemy composition and how many are there?" Garro asked.

"Well, there are a lot of them, but each one has a strength greater than a primarch."

Garro furrowed his eyes, but he did not question Jun. Raynare watched Jun as he concluded the meeting and followed them back to the mansion. Sneaking past the group, she returned to her bedroom and quickly placed the cloak and sneakers into the package. Once it was secured, she collapsed into her bed. Tossing and turning, she was plagued with nightmares of the giant soldier attacking her.

Jun's POV

That was stressful. I knew that Space Marines had a terrifying presence on mortals, but experiencing it firsthand was something else. Shaking my head, I splashed some water on my face to wash away the sweat. After drying my face, I pulled out the weapon drop and crushed the emerald orb. Materializing in the air, the weapon dropped into my hands. It appeared to be an assault rifle with a mini chainsaw attached underneath. I smirked when Godsight revealed the weapon's name.

[Lancer Mark Three (Gears of War series) - The latest model of the Lancer assault rifle used by the COG Army.]

An ammo counter appears in the bottom right-hand corner of my vision. With a magazine size of 40 rounds and a maximum of 520 rounds, it's not a bad drop for a rookie like me. I carefully flick the activation switch for the chainsaw and it revs to life with a hearty growl. Turning it off, I place it in my primary weapon slot. Despite getting a good weapon, my mood sours immediately when my mind returns to the question I have been avoiding all night.

Should I tell Garro about the New Thunder-Warriors?

Two outcomes stem from the question. First, he might aid me in my efforts to create them. He will be reluctant about it, but he won't deny the fact that this is the army we need. Of course, he might point out that we need more aspirants to create more Thunder-Warriors. Thankfully, aspirants could easily be found across the globe. There were hundreds of orphanages, each one filled with suitable candidates. All we had to do was buy up an orphanage and start the process. Those unsuitable for the process were sent away or used for other purposes. The second benefit was the implantation of the Astartes gene seed. It would stabilize them from mental problems while granting them the abilities of a Space Marine.

The other outcome was rejecting my proposal and calling me a heretic. I don't know why he would do that, but resurrecting an army of the Emperor's former soldiers might be seen as heretical to him. I doubt he even knows that the Thunder-Warriors were the Space Marines' predecessor. Any knowledge of the Thunder Warriors' actual demise was wiped out and replaced with a false heroic last stand.

Regardless of which outcome occurs, I need to get started with the army. The industrial fabricators will be useful for mass-producing armor and weapons, but the exotic organs and ingredients I need will have to be gained through the Stargate.

The next morning was an interesting one. It was no surprise to see Yuuma freak out about the surprise arrival of our new friend. Thankfully, Garro came up with an excuse and everything went well. Arriving in front of the school, the three of us went to our respective classrooms. The dull activities of schoolwork and lectures made up a boring day and it was nearly over.

Grabbing my schoolbag, I made my way to leave when Sona Shitori, the student council president, stopped me. "Mr. Marchosias, the school doctor needs to see you for a second. He said something about an extra shot you need to take."

Frowning, I left the classroom and headed for the school's medical room. Inside, a man with cyan hair wearing a doctor's coat motioned toward the patient's bed. "According to our records, you're missing a tetanus shot. Luckily, we have one right here. I will also need a blood sample."

"A blood sample? I don't understand." I protested. The doctor shook his head, "I'm sorry, but it's part of the rules."

Sighing, I rolled up my sleeve and presented my arm. "Get on with it, doc"

The doctor retrieved a syringe from a cabinet and began extracting my blood. "Just a minute now," the doctor murmured and he left me alone on the bed. Ten minutes later, he returned with another syringe and injected it. "All set, sir. You can go now."

"Great. Thanks, doc." Standing up, I took a few steps when my vision went hazy. Immediately, the Gamer's Body activated and began nullifying the effect of the injection. Whatever the injection was, it was efficient and I slumped against the wall. The mark on my hand glowed faintly as I tried to summon my servants. In the back of my mind, I could hear distorted voices calling me.

"Psyker, what happened? Respond!"

"Kid, are you alright? Hang on!"

"We are coming, Jun."

"Jun!"

The last thing I heard was a distorted voice, "Get him into the room".

For a while, I didn't feel anything until I was jolted awake by something. Gasping for air, I looked around my surroundings. To my surprise, I recognized it as the student council's room. Sitting in front of me were three people: the doctor, Rias, and Sona. The mark was still glowing and gave a steady pulse of magical power.

"What did you do to me? Let me go."

The doctor leaned forward, "I'm sorry for what I did, but this was the only way for us to meet." Taking the lab coat off, he continued, "My name is Ajuka Beelzebub. I'm from the Underworld and so are these two." He motioned toward Rias and Sona.

"Let me go," This time, the mark's glow became brighter and a soft rising hum filled the room. All three devils reacted, alarmed by the rising magical signature in the room. Hidden wards and barriers activated as it tried to suppress my power. Behind them. two magical circles spun to life and the shimmering columns of light revealed themselves to be Rias's and Sona's peerage.

"I took your blood to conduct a DNA test. You're not fully human, Jun. You're a hybrid. Half devil, half-human." Ajuka said and unrolled a scroll. The scroll had a list of names, some of which I recognized.

"I don't care about what you're saying. Let me go right now." I said for the third time. The fake doctor held up his hands in a futile attempt to calm me down. "I will once I explain everything."

"I'm leaving this place and you won't stop me." I said. The mark flashed once and the smell ionized plasma filled the room. With smoke curling off their shoulders, my servants raised their weapons at the devils. With a roar, Garro's declaration marked the start of the fight.

"For the Emperor!"

AN

Thanks for the reviews! It helps me a lot when you guys post them.

Shaedy Hoe: It's set after Issei's resurrection as Devil and before Asia Argento's arrival in Kuoh.

Raynare wasn't detected due to Azazel's inventions. As the creator of artificial Sacred Gears, I would assume he can create cloaking devices and such. That's why Vesemir's amulet didn't react even when they were close.

Also, Jun doesn't use Godsight on everybody. He casts on things he has or suspicious people. He assumed Yuuma was a normal person, not a Fallen Angel.

MasterBlade: No Primarchs for the first book. Maybe in the sequel (if I make one).

Lordcarroty: There will be a female servant soon. That reminds me, I need a strategist for the team.

Speaking of servants, there are 3 types of servants MC can summon. Let's use Akame ga Kill as an example.

1. People who died and deserve a second chance

Ex: Chelsea, Leone, Lubbock, Esdeath, etc.

2. People who could have been heroes.

Ex: Spear

3. People who agree with MC's goals and decide to join without coercion

Ex: Tatsumi and Wave

Note that Akame and Najenda aren't on the list. Why?

1. Akame hasn't died yet in the sequel manga and is still searching for a cure and a way to fix her curse. She might die in the future, but currently she's still alive.

2. Najenda is busy leading the kingdom and probably won't join due to her duties as a ruler.

If you have any ideas for a female hero that matches any of the 3 types, put them in the review. I don't know a lot about female heroes, so any suggestions will help me.

As always, read and review!
