Promptober Day 16 – Liminal

Main focus on Honoka.

OmO I don't know if I fully understood this yet… but well, I tried XD

May you enjoy~

There were many sounds, noises and voices buzzing in Honoka's ears.

Her heart thumping so quickly it felt excruciatingly slow and too loud for comfort.

The silence screeched within her mind too – Is there a crowd? Are there any audiences? Am I alone? These thoughts raced through her as literal shadows of her past haunting her, the memory of an empty auditorium fresh and hurtful.

Voices… Voices? It was hers, was it not? Telling her once again – telling her she have not grown one bit, telling her she was not fit to lead, telling her she was fated to fall, telling her –

"Honoka-chan."

"Honoka."

The Leader of μ's turned at the burning warmth and strong squeeze to her left hand that was shaking.

Kotori's golden eyes shimmer with understanding and concern, but her smile held the strength of hundreds.

Umi nodded a tight-lipped smile, similarly nervous but her message so simple – she was right behind Honoka.

Rin beamed, eyes sparkling, posture eager.

Hanayo smiled too, apologetic for her best friend's carefreeness? She shouldn't as they both gave the push Honoka needed.

Maki shrugs, but her own moist, sparkling violet eyes gave away the truth.

Nico smirked wildly, with Nozomi's hand on her shoulder and Eli's on her back.

Nozomi and Eli stared directly into Honoka's tearful sky-blue eyes and Honoka's right hand that was gripping the handle of the stairs released some strength, allowing her white knuckles to breathe.

Honoka wipes her tears as she found the only reason she needed to get past the crippling fear and doubts, to break out of the liminal space, the steps connecting from the backstage to the main stage.

Honoka nodded to her friends, a smile finding her way up her lips as she exited the curtains to a new stage.

Author Notes

Uncertainty is so horrible to have.

So unreasonable at times.

And I love the fact that Honoka's first stage with Kotori and Umi, and the school cultural festival stage both haunts Honoka so badly, like, both are such pivotal moments of her life.

She was depressed and pretended it was okay when it was not in S2!

Amazing how they gave growth episodes to how she got out of it with the help of her friends.

I just brought those emotions into this little short. Hehe~ :)

Leave me a comment if you like! (Let's cheer Honoka on! ^w^)

See you next chappie :D
