The sun shone on her face. She tossed and turned in her bed until she fell out, hitting her head on the floor.

"Ow…" She got up on her wobbly feet and walked towards the door. She got into the kitchen. Her mom was sitting at the kitchen table with a smile plastered on her face.

"Good morning, Tom." She said in a cheery voice.

"Good morning, mom." She joined her mom at the table and sat down. Her feet still didn't touch the floor and her head reached just above the table.

"I have a surprise for you." Tom's eyes lit up. Her mom slid a letter across the table.

"What is it?"

"Just open the letter." Her mom looked almost more excited then herself. The letter was made with old looking parchment and emerald green ink. On the front it read:

Ms. E. Stone

Bedroom upstairs to the left.

72 Guild St

Apt 306

London

She lifted the wax seal and took out the parchment.

Dear Ms. Stone,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at the Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins September 1st. We await your owl no later than 31 July.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Tom looked up from the letter to her mom. Her eyes wide with excitement. "I got in!" She got up from the table and started jumping and running around the room. Her mom just smiled and laughed.

"You have to tell me everything. Send me lot's of letters. You know I never went there so you need to be very detailed." Tom nodded her head quickly.

"When are we getting my things?" She asked.

"Today, if you want to." Her smile got even bigger if that was possible. She ran up to her room and got dressed quickly. She ran back downstairs and hopped into her car. They drove off to the address that Diagon Alley was said to be and ended up at a completely blacked out bar. It almost looked like it had burned down. They shrugged and walked in. Even Though it looked abandoned from the outside it was full of life through its doors.

Her mom walked up to a small man in a black trench coat with white hair who was sitting at the bar. "Excuse me." The man looked up at her through small glasses.

"Yes?"

"Um… I am not a witch but my daughter here is and I was wondering if you could show us how to get to Diagon Alley."

"Of course." He smiled kindly and hopped off his stool. "Follow me." They followed him out the back door and were met with a brick wall. They looked around while the man just walked up to the wall and tapped it with a stick. The bricks moved around and created an archway into a street bustling with people carrying books and wearing long black coats. "Hear you are." The two of them were dazed but her mom managed to croak out a thank you as they walked through the whole in the wall. They turned around but the brick wall was back.

"Excuse me." Her mom asked a tall woman with a long nose walking by. "Do you know where the bank is?" The woman just pointed to a rather tall building at the end of the road that looked a little like it was about to fall over.

"What do we need to go to the bank for, mom?"

"Even though your dad didn't want to be a part of our lives, he didn't leave you with nothing." They walked into the building. Around them they saw small people with big noses and big ears behind desks talking with people of all types. In the back of the hall there was a giant man with a small boy about Tom's age. They walked up to one of the open spaces. "Hi, we are here to open Esmeralda Stone's vault."

"Do you have a key?" He said in a raspy voice. Her mom dug around in her purse until she came out with a small gold key.

"Here it is." He took it and called someone. He gave the key back to them.

"Someone will come soon to take you to your vault." Another man that looked similar to the one they were talking to came up behind them.

"Follow me." They followed him into a cart and sat down. "Hold on."

"What-" Her mom was cut off and the cart went rushing down the track. It came to a quick stop and they jumped out. The two of them had a terrified look on their faces.

"Key?" He held out his hand and she handed it to him. He opened a large door and Tom looked inside. Both of them let their jaws hit the floor. Inside were piles and piles of gold coins. She picked up one of them.

"How much are each of these worth?"

"About 5 euros." She looked around the room.

"Can we leave most of this here and only take some of it?"

"Of course, that's how banks work." He answered a little annoyed.

"Right." She said under her breath. She picked up some of the coins and carefully placed them in her purse. "Alright. I think that's good." They got back into the cart and sped off. They got back onto the street and Tom took out the parchment with the list of equipment she needed.

"Hey mom?"

"Yeah?"

"Why didn't you take the money from the vault before? We need it." She stopped and looked at her.

"Tom, I did it for a few reasons. One, I didn't know it existed until I got a letter with a key from the bank. Two, even if I did I would have no idea how to find it. And three, your dad had left the money for you when you got accepted to Hogwarts. We didn't alway get along but this is about you and I never doubted that your dad loved you."

"If he loved me then why did he leave?" She sighed.

"We couldn't live together anyway but a lot of things happened and he had to do some very important things. I don't like that he had to do it but he did." Tom looked at the floor.

"Will I ever meet him?"

"I don't think so." She started walking and mumbled under her breath. "I hope not."
