Chapter 1: Memories

"Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled as Kagome ran from the terrifying scene that had broken her heart for the last time. "Wait…" Kikyou wrapped in his arms, he couldn't stop Kagome from leaving. He knew that he had done the wrong thing. What was he suppose to do now that she had left? Would she return?

Kagome felt her tears running down her face. She couldn't understand after all that she had done for him; he still wanted the dead priestess, Kikyou. She kept running, and nothing could make her stop.

"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin's voice echoed in Kagome's ear. "Wake up Lord Sesshomaru!" Kagome had stumbled upon the scene of Sesshomaru sleeping soundly on the grass, not moving and just as cold as ever. Jaken was crying by the Lord's side. Kagome couldn't believe the hysterics that were going on about Sesshomaru, yet after all the times she had seen Sesshomaru, he never seemed to be so weak.

"Rin?" Kagome approached the girl slowly. "What's going on?"

The tearing girl turned to Kagome and wailed out loud. "I don't know, he just fell asleep in the grass. Some woman came to see him and then…I don't remember, Jaken and I went off to find food. When I came back he was sound asleep in the grass. I don't know what to do…" she began to cry loudly again. "Is he dead?"

Sesshomaru lay with unmoving stillness. But that was a good question. Was Sesshomaru dead? She bent down her knees, so close the yokai lord, she almost shivered the fear. She slowly, but hesitantly brought her hand near his face; slowly withdrawing before getting the courage to touch his face. It was cool, deadly cool.

She even more slowly laid her head on his chest and heard the slowly beating of his cold heart. She was amazed he even had a heart; after all he had done to people and demon alike. She looked at his face with serious, stern face. "Sesshomaru?" No answer came from the demon.

Kagome heard Rin's nonstop crying in the background. "Sesshomaru, are you okay?" Just as though she had spoken the password, his eyes slowly drifted open. Her heart thumped widely against her chest. Was he going to kill her now that he was awake?

No. He just stared at her for a long, long while; not even diverting his attention from Kagome's face. He raced his hand to her cheek. Kagome flinched, thinking he was going to strangle her. "Why are you scared?" He had spoken, but not like he always had. It was soft and concerning.

Jaken looked at his master will glee, but disbelief, they all knew that Sesshomaru would kill Kagome on the spot, but he hadn't, he had gentle caressed her cheek with a soft question too. Kagome couldn't speak at all. "What is your name?" He had asked another unbearable question. He knew her name, she knew it.

"Amnesia?" Jaken stumbled off his lips. "Milord?" Sesshomaru turned and looked at Jaken with confused eyes.

"Do I know you?" Jaken's eyes wield up in tears. He turned toward Rin with same question. Being young she didn't understand what was happening. But Kagome did.

"I'm Kagome," She state with her hand on her chest. Sesshomaru grabbed her hand gently. Her eyes widen. What was happening? "Jaken, Rin, we need to get him back to his castle. He had amnesia and maybe his memories might return, but we need to get him back to some place familiar." They both nodded. "He doesn't have anything familiar he might never get his memories back." Kagome didn't say it, but she wanted Sesshomaru to forget his past. He seemed so different without them. She would help him until he did. And besides, she wasn't returning back to Inuyasha now that he had betrayed her again with Kikyou.
