Harry Potter: Strength to Hold On
***Based in the Deathly Hallows after Ron returns and before they go and see Lovegood
Hermione was just beginning to wake up inside their tent to the smell of a fire outside. She looked around in the tent and saw that Ron and Harry were still asleep; which meant there were others nearby them. It was morning outside but still slightly dark from the night.
Hermione got up slowly and regained her energy to go outside and check it out. She walked over to Ron and Harry's bunk and looked at them to make sure she didn't wake them.
She slipped on her sneakers and headed outside. She was wearing the outfit she'd be wearing her outfit that she'd be wearing for that day to see Luna Lovegood's father: skinny jeans, her sneakers, light fall jacket and her hair was falling over her shoulders.
The fallen leaves from the trees crunched under her shoes as she came closer and closer to the smell. The protective enchantments were (as she believed) still working but in case, she had her wand in her back pocket.
The sun was coming up too slowly for her liking. The atmosphere of the area she was in didn't suit her at all. The cold wind of Fall was going through her hair, making it move slightly.
Suddenly, she saw a shadow. Something that moved too quick behind a tree. She braced herself behind a tree nearby the other one, keeping a close eye on it.
'It's nothing, just an animal, don't freak out Hermione' She thought to herself.
But when she decided to head back to camp, she saw a bright flash of red go up into the air: a signal.
Hermione took this as an extreme warning and ran back to camp.
"Harry! Ron!" She called out. She saw a fallen tree trunk and attempted to jump over it. But her shoelace was undone, causing her to trip over it and fall to the earth. Her head banged on a rock, causing blood to seep out. She wimpered in pain but got up as fast as she could.
But someone came up from behind her and aimed his wand at her body.
"Get up" Was all he had said.
Hermione did so cautiously.
"Hermione! Where are you?" She heard Harry call out; they woke up, they were looking for her. A sudden relief filled her body making her confident.
Her back was facing the man behind her with the wand aimed at her.
Then as quickly as she could, she grabbed her wand from her back pocket, stupifyed the man and ran away from the sight.
Her breath became panting as she took in more and more cold morning air into her lungs. Her heart pounding against her chest, urging her to stop running and allow her body to rest. But she couldn't.
She saw the distant figures of Harry and Ron coming in front of her.
"Harry! Ron! Someone's here!" Was all she could yell to them. She stopped her feet from running for a moment's second just as she heard the sound of cloaks flapping against the wind above her.
"Deatheaters! Harry, Ron, run!" She ran to them. Ron grabbed hold of her hand and they took off to their camp, back to where the protective enchantments actually worked.
"Are you ok?" Ron asked worriedly to Hermione as they ran.
She managed a nod but Ron noticed the blood on her head. She saw his face turn red with anger.
When they were about 7 yards from their camp however, the deatheater from above swooped down to them as they ran. He made the entire air go black as other death eaters came to them. About 10 seconds of Ron, Harry and Hermione swinging their arms to guard themselves from the followers, the dark air cleared up.
The first thing they noticed though, was that Hermione was gone; and so were the deatheaters.
