Chapter-1
The party was at full swing in Gryffindor common room. They were celebrating their latest victory in quidditch cup over Slytherin house. Everyone was cheering for Ron Weasley who was the hero of the match. Ron was fully enjoying the attention he was receiving. He was telling everyone about the match.
Harry Potter who was standing in corner with a butter beer in his hand was watching all this with amusement. For once he was not the one to be in spotlight and he did not mind about it. He was enjoying the party as much as Ron was enjoying. He was really amused at the amount of change the fake liquid luck brought in Ron.
"You shouldn't have done it." came a familiar voice from his back, bringing him out of his musings.
"What are talking about Hermione?" He asked her innocently. He clearly knew what she was talking about.
"I saw you slipping Felix Felicis into Ron's pumpkin juice. " She said
"Both of you can be expelled for it."
"Really Hermione, will they expel the chosen one." He added with a grin.
"I'm serious." She said, slapping on his arm. "What you did was cheating."
"Perhaps I should have used a confundus charm then." He said.
Her eyes went wide. "Th..that was just tryouts." She defended herself.
He, then slipped his hands into his pocket and brought the vial of liquid luck out and showed it to her.
Her eyes widened even more. "You didn't put it." She said.
He shook his head.
"You just played a hunch?" She asked.
He nodded.
"It was all his own talent then." She said.
"Yep." He replied. "Ron just needed some self confidence. If he knows that I did not use the potion on him, I'm sure that he will play with more confidence in following games."
"You should have told me atleast." She said
Suddenly cheers and cat calls erupted in the party. Both Harry and Hermione looked in that direction to see what was going on.
Lavender brown was kissing Ron in the middle of the common room and Ron was kissing back too. Harry grinned at it. 'About time' he thought. He observed Lavender eyeing Ron recently. He was happy for his friend.
Suddenly he heard a sob beside him. He looked at the vacant spot where his best friend was standing just a second ago. His eyes searched for her. He found the familiar bushy haired witch leaving the common room. He followed her.
"Hermione." He shouted at her. She did not respond. There were many people blocking him from reaching her. By the time he reached out of the common room, she disappeared.
He checked the marauder's map. She was in an unused class room, which was not far away.
He went to the classroom and found her sitting on the desk. He was facing her back. He reached for her and laid a hand on her shoulder.
"Hermione?" He called her. "Are you ok?" He asked.
She immediately turned around and threw her arms around him and started sobbing onto his chest. He did not expect this at all. However he wrapped his arms around her and started rubbing her back in a soothing way while trying to figure out what made her upset.
After a few minutes of sobbing. She backed away and sat on the desk.
She saw the damp spot on his shirt. "Sorry Harry. I ruined your shirt." She apologized.
"It's ok Hermione." He said.
They sat in silence for a few minutes. He was waiting for her to speak.
At last she broke the silence. "How does it feel Harry?" She asked. "When you look at Ginny and Dean?"
Now everything struck to him. Hermione fancies Ron. He knew that Ron and Hermione harboured feelings for each other. He felt angry at Ron for making her cry.
He hated seeing her crying like this. He actually wondered what she liked in Ron. Not that Ron is not a good guy. But he and Hermione were not a good match. They were completely opposite to each other. Most of the time both of them fought each other. Moreover it was always Ron who made her cry. Whether it be fire bolt incident in third year or Yule ball in fourth year or now. However he decided not to mention it to her now. He understood her pain. She needed his comfort now and he was ready to provide it. Hermione leaned onto him out her head on his shoulder.
Suddenly the door burst open and Ron and lavender entered the room. Lavender was giggling and Ron was grinning like an idiot. His arm was around Lavender's waist.
"Oops!" Said Lavender. "Looks like this room is already taken. Let's go some where else won-won" she said. Ron looked at the two of them suspiciously.
"I'll come in minute lav. Find some room and wait for me." He said to Lavender as she left.
"Care to explain about this?" He asked gesturing both of them.
Suddenly Hermione pulled out her wand and yelled "Oppungo".Butterflies bursted from the wand and attacked Ron.
"What the hell Hermione?" He shouted and ran away.
Both Harry and Hermione sat their in silence for a few minutes. "You asked me how it feels." Harry said. "The same as you feel."
After a while both of them sent to the common room. They bid farewell to each other and went to their respective dorms.
Harry went to his dormitory, changed into his pyjamas and climbed into his bed.
"What was her problem?" Ron's voice asked him when he was about to sleep.
"Who?"
"Hermione mate," Ron continued, "Why did she attack me like that?"
Harry groaned inwardly. He didn't want to discuss it with Ron. He wondered what to tell Ron. " Leave it mate, it was nothing. She was just in a bad mood."
"I know you are hiding it mate." Ron continued, "Hermione is jealous of Lavender and me. That's why she attacked me. Well, honestly I don't care about what she feels. There is no stopping of my relationship with Lavender for her."
"Then we don't need to talk about this mate. I'm feeling sleepy. Good night Ron." He said.
Harry wanted to go and punch Ron on his face, but decided against it. He knew Ron was doing purposefully. He didn't want to see Hermione hurt again. He decided that she needed his help. He should help her in keeping her mind in other things and avoid brooding about Ron and Lavender. With that thought he drifted into sleep.
