TriWizard Champion Harry Potter is sitting on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with his best friend, and crush, Hermione Granger, minding his own business, when he receives a letter from Gringotts Bankā¦informing him of two outstanding betrothal contracts that he must comply with!
Pairings Harry/Hermione/Daphne/Padma, Neville/Ginny, Michael/Parvati, Colin/Astoria (I've changed the pairings a bit as I wasn't as happy with how I had originally wrote it.
This is a re-write of the original The Champions Trio. You may recognise parts of it in this though as I kept most of the meat of it in the fic.
Contains Ron bashing and some swearing. Horcruxes do not exist.
This fic was inspired by another one I have been working on called What is Your Problem. and contains text from it, but is set later than it and kills Voldemort in a different way. Harry and Hermione are not betrothed, unlike Daphne/Padma.
Contains some text from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Hermione Granger was worried about her best friend, Harry Potter. In fact, she was so worried that she had been tossing and turning all night in bed, trying to work out what to do.
It was the morning after the drawing of the TriWizard Tournament and Harry had been entered, and subsequently drawn out of the Goblet of Fire, an extremely powerful object that was nearly seven centuries old.
She had been extremely shocked when his name had come out, but at the same time she was scared. Scared as Harry was only a Forth Year and yet he was forced to compete in a competition against people at least 3 years older than him.
Looking around the Great Hall, she could see that there were several people who were concerned about Harry as well, people who knew Harry wouldn't enter a tournament like the one he was being forced into.
She looked at Daphne Greengrass, a friend of hers from an Arithmancy study group, who mouthed to her that she believed Harry, same with Padma Patil at the Ravenclaw table, and from her own table the Weasley twins, along with Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, Alicia Spinnet and even Parvati Patil were all shocked.
But on the other hand, Ronald Weasley, her other friend, was angry. Same with most of the Hufflepuff table.
They obviously believed that Harry had entered himself.
They believed that Harry was trying to steal the glory of Cedric Diggory.
They were wrong.
Even some of the Hufflepuffs who were in the same study group as Daphne Greengrass, the likes of Susan Bones, Hannah Abbot and Megan Jones were all talking to each other about how Harry was a cheat, and how he had obviously found a way to get round the Age Line.
What was worse was the argument that Harry and Ron had when Harry had returned from being briefed by Albus Dumbledore and the TriWizard judges.
"So," Ron said as Harry took off a Gryffindor banner that Lee Jordan had put on him before he had entered the Common Room, throwing it into a corner. "Congratulations."
"What d'you mean, congratulations?" said Harry, staring at Ron. There was definitely something wrong with the way Ron was smiling: It was more like a grimace.
"Well... let me think...how about the fact that no one else got across the Age Line," said Ron. "Not even Fred and George. What did you use? Was it the Invisibility Cloak?"
"The Invisibility Cloak wouldn't have got me over that line," said Harry slowly.
"Oh right," said Ron. "I thought you might've told me if it was the cloak. The cloak would have covered both of us, wouldn't it? But you found another way, did you?"
"Listen," Harry hissed, getting annoyed with his friend, "I didn't put my name in that goblet. Someone else must've done it."
Ron raised his eyebrows. "What would they do that for?"
"I dunno," said Harry. He felt it would sound very melodramatic to say, "To kill me."
Ron's eyebrows rose so high that they were in danger of disappearing into his hair.
"It's okay, you know, you can tell me the truth," he said. "If you don't want everyone else to know, fine, but I don't know why you're bothering to lie, you didn't get into trouble for it, did you? That friend of the Fat Lady's, that Violet, she's already told us all Dumbledore's letting you enter. A thousand Galleons prize money, eh? And you don't have to do end-of-year tests either..."
"I didn't put my name in that goblet!" said Harry, starting to feel angry. "You think I want to die. I would do anything, ANYTHING to have just one day in your life. You moan you're poor and I'm rich, well I'll tell you one thing. You have the one thing I would trade all of my money for. A loving family. One that does not treat me like shit because I have magic."
Everyone gasped, but Harry was still wound up. "You know what I remember when Dementors come near me? I hear my mother, my mum pleading...PLEADING with Voldemort" Everyone gasped again when Harry said the Dark Lord's name. "I hear her pleading with Voldemort to spare me, to kill her instead. And you know what? I hate it. I HATE being treated like shit by you Ron when you tell me that I'm famous. I hate it because I know my parent's killer is still alive. I hate it because unlike you, I have had to risk my life for your family and what thanks do I get off you? Nothing.
"Ginny thanked me for saving her, your parents thanked me for saving her, and so did Gred, Forge and Percy, but what did you do? You just ignored me and started going on about how the fame would make my head grow bigger." Harry continued "You...you encouraged me to take the easier classes for our electives and I followed you, just to keep our friendship. Well Ron, its over. Our friendship, finished. I'd rather be friends with Malfoy or Flint than a absolute arsehole like you."
Hermione could see Ginny starting to cry, so she headed over to the younger Gryffindor and held her in her arms for a minute. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Ron sarcastically yawning.
"Yeah yeah," said Ron, in exactly the same sceptical tone as Cedric, ignoring Harry's rant. "You're nothing special Potter. Only you said this morning you'd have entered the Tournament last night, and no one would've seen you...I'm not stupid, you know."
"You're doing a really good impression of it," Harry replied to the redheaded boy, his Holly and Pheonix Feather wand dangerously close to coming out of his pocket.
"Yeah?" said Ron, and there was no trace of a grin, forced or otherwise, on his face now. "You want to get to bed, Potter. I expect you'll need to be up early tomorrow for a photo-call or something."
Hermione could have strangled the redhead for what he had said. 'How could Ron have treated his friend like that.' she had thought at the time, watching the redhead boy go to aim his wand at Harry's back. Fortunatly the Weasley twins had stopped him from making a mistake such as casting a curse, as they knew that Harry would have, had he been in the mood, killed the boy.
As she walked through the grounds, Hermione saw Harry sitting on a stone by the lake, watching the Giant Squid play with some First Years, trying hard to keep himself composed.
'Oh Harry. I just wished for one year the idiots didn't conspire against you for once. I'll do anything to protect you. I will protect you, forever and a day.'
Coming up in the next chapter...Harry and Hermione talk...
