Chapter One

Hermione always knew she was special. You see she'd had dreams since she was about 4 or 5. Dreams that always came true. When it first happened she put it down to de je vu. The second time it wasn't exactly the same, as she had recognised the scene from her dream and decided to change it as she hadn't wanted to cause the accident by going after the cat that ran into the road. It turned out not trying to save the cat had saved it anyway and the driver of the car didn't die because she didn't run out into the road.

Everytime she had a dream she wrote it down in her diary in as much detail as she could, and she'd make the decision of whether to try and change the outcome. Of course at the tender age of 8 there wasn't really much she could do to change events but if she had the power to change a bad thing into a good thing then she had to try.

The things she saw in her dreams were varied. She saw when a test would be coming up at school, she never saw the questions but she saw the subject matter so this allowed her to concentrate her revision on that particular area. She saw the new kid that had started a few weeks ago getting bullied, so she of course prevented it by asking the girl to sit with her at lunch under the tree so they could revise. If the girl was never in the cafeteria for lunch then the bullies wouldn't get their chance. On this particular occasion it only seemed to postpone the event as the girl got tripped on her way to science class and smashed their nose on the floor. She got out of doing the test as they spent the lesson in the nurse's office. All that revision wasted.

After this intervention didn't seem to work out Hermione had decided to think longer about whether to change events. It seemed that life had decided everything for them and although she could change a few things that she had seen, should she try? After all messing with the universe's plan was dangerous and she could cause something much worse.

She didn't have dreams all the time. Sometimes it was once or twice a month. sometimes she'd have a few months where she didn't see anything at all. Sometimes she didn't even know when the event would happen. It's not like she saw a calendar in her dreams that gave the exact date and time.

As we join Hermione in this story she's just waking up from a peculiar dream, a dream she can't believe is real as it is far too far fetched that even her soon to be 11 year old brain can comprehend.
