Ice and Fire: BUT NOT TODOROKI
Chapter 1 - A Different Beginning
Izumi Midoriya was 4 years old when she learned the truth of this world.
"Not all men are born equally."
In this world around 80% of the population are born gifted with some uncanny ability referred to as quirks. Quirks allowed the impossible to be possible, dreams to become a reality and heroes and villains alike to emerge in a new superhuman society.
However not everyone was so lucky, for 20% of the population had been born without an ability to call their own, nothing to make them unique, nothing to make them special and nothing to allow them to fulfil any dreams of heroism they would have had.
Those people were known as "Quirkless"
Due to this reality Izumi Midoriya learned at the young age of 4 that she, in fact, was not born like everyone else.
No, she was born ABOVE OTHERS!
Izumi was a happy energetic child with green hair and wide starry eyes filled with anticipation and excitement to learn what her quirk might be. Apart from her innocent bright smile that could very well blind anyone who stared at it for too long and the fact she was practically vibrating in her seat next to her mother, unable to keep still, the most eye catching feature she had was her heterochromic eyes.
Her right eye was the same dark green colour as her mothers eyes, however you could only tell that up close, from a distance it seemed far more grey then green for some reason, unbeknownst to the parent. Whereas her left eye was a beautiful turquoise blue, which she was told was the same eye colour as her fathers, not like she'd ever met the guy or anything due to his job being overseas meaning he was never around. But she didn't care, her mother gave her enough love for 2, that's all she needed and wanted.
They were both waiting in the waiting room of a hospital, because of the slightly early signs of Izumi's quirk manifesting their usual doctor, Doctor Tsubasa, wasn't available and was not at the hospital due to some other business he had to attend to. As a result they were waiting on a different doctor to be available to run the necessary tests on her to see if they could determine what her quirk might be.
Flashback
The sign of her quirk manifesting happened the same day her best friend Katsuki Bakugo or to her known as Kacchan, got his quirk: Explosion.
It was truly amazing, both flashy and versatile with the ways it could be used, and most importantly it was powerful.
All those around him were gushing over him and the almost guaranteed chance of him becoming a great and famous hero in the future, to be honest most of them were just vultures trying to get his attention and he knew it, even at the age of 4 they knew to trying and suck up to those who were stronger than others to benefit themselves by being close to him.
"Bakugo, your quirk is so strong. We should play together."
"You're going to be such a strong hero in the future."
"Let's be friends!"
"That sure is going to be a powerful quirk in the future, you're going to be an amazing hero." said one of the kindergarten teachers.
He looked up, eyes wide, smile on his face and thought "Yeah you're right, I am amazing, in fact I bet there's no one as great as me!"
Izumi wasn't jealous or bitter about all the attention Kacchan was getting or the fact his quirk was phenomenal, like any other 4 year old would have been in her position. No, she was only happy for her best friend for being able to truly become a hero like they've both been dreaming of together for years. Since the first time that they had ever met and as far as she or him could remember both of them had promised one another to be the best hero duo in existence some day, surpassing even their shared idol All Might and all those who would come after them. With that thought in mind she ran up to him in her usual over the top excitement at anything to do with heroes or their dreams.
"Kacchan! Kacchan!" Izumi shouted ecstatically right next to his ear.
"WHAT MICHAN! YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME GO DEAF FROM ALL YOUR SHOUTING!" ironically Kacchan shouted even louder right back at her.
"Your quirk is amazing! It's so strong and cool, I can already think of so many ways you can be an awesome hero with it! You're going to be one of the best heroes ever!" Her compliments and praise felt different to him than the other kids, it was nothing but her true thoughts and joy for him and his prosperous future.
He scoffed "Of course it is, I'm going to even beat All Might himself with it! I'm amazing!" He stated with confidence "Now hurry up and get your quirk already, remember we're going to be the best hero duo ever and you can't do that without a quirk Michan."
"Silly Kacchan, of course I couldn't be a hero without a quirk, how would I beat up the bad guys without one." (A sneeze was heard in an AU) she giggled and started patting his head "And mommy said it'll definitely come soon, I just have to be patient and wait for it." She said, and pouted "But I would like it if it could come now though."
Growling and hitting the hand of his head and patting hers in return "Well it better come soon, I can't wait around for you forever." He said and starts to ruffle her messy nest of green hair before he notices something odd "HEY! Michan, what's with this red stuff in your hair?" he questioned.
"What are you talking about Kacchan?" She asked and confusedly pats around her head but doesn't feel anything "There's nothing in my hair, silly."
"Yes there is, idiot!" He barks back "It's right here and there's even some white stuff on this side too." He pulls on them to prove his point and show her who was being the idiot here.
"Ow! You're just pulling on my hair though." She growls and bats his hand away to stop him pulling on her hair.
"Huh?" they questioned at the same time.
There was a moment of silence between the 2 friends, they locked eyes with each other before confusion turned to excitement, both burst into joyful screams at what this must have meant for Izumi.
Flashback Ends
Izumi and her mother were now waiting in the doctor's office after her blood had been taken to have some tests run on it, Izumi was still vibrating with anticipation and playing with her All Might action figure while waiting for the doctor to come back with the results of the tests and hopefully be able to tell her what her quirk is.
The door swung open as a female doctor came in "Hello, I'm Doctor Higashi. I presume you're the Midoriya family?" She asks with a happy tone.
"Yes hello, I'm Inko Midoriya and this energetic little one is Izumi" Inko answers, bowing her head towards the doctor.
"Nice to meet you. Alright as you already know Doctor Tsubasa is busy right now meaning he is unavailable, so I'll be the one explaining the good news to little Izumi here." The doctor said with a smile and a small gesture to her clip bored in her hands with the test results on it.
"First let me say that the x-rays we took of her feet shows that she only has a singular joint in her pinkie toes." she put up the pictures of the x-rays "which even without the results of the other tests tells us right away that she definitely has a quirk."
Immediately Izumi shoots up on her seat, not even realising that she practically flung her All Might figure halfway across the office "SO SO, what's my quirk? Is it like Mommy's? Or is it like my Daddy's? Is it a combination of both? Is it both!? Is it something different? Will it be something super cool like Kacchan's?"
The onslaught of questions was met with a soft giggle from the doctor "You're very excited I see, but you'll have to be patient. I have a few questions for your mother here because I'm not your usual doctor." She turns to Inko who was attempting to keep her daughter from exploding out of her seat "Now Mrs Midoriya, I'd like to know what you and your husband's quirks are if you will."
"Yes, my quirk is called Pull, it allows me to pull small objects towards me." She demonstrates by slowly picking up the toy that had been flung away with a couple of small hand movements "And for my husband, his quirk is called Fire Breath, it's pretty self explanatory, it lets him breath fire."
She nods to herself "Knowing that explains Izumi's quirk quite well." She says with her hand on her chin and eyes closed "But first let me explain why her quirk is what it is."
She paused, Inko nodded and Izumi started intentitivaly listening, waiting for the explanation.
"At the core of your quirk Mrs Midoriya, it is telekinetic based. No matter the intricate workings of it or how strong or weak it is, nothing will change that simple fact." She stopped to let that knowledge sink in for a moment before continuing "And as for your husband, his quirk is fire based or more accurately temperature based, meaning that, yes, it may be several magnitudes weaker and work differently but at its core it's the same as even Endeavors quirk. All quirks can be categorized into simple base forms that branch out making a person's quirk unique to them even if the core of their quirk is the same as others."
Inko looks shocked while Izumi somehow seems to be in even more anticipation than before, but not really understanding what was said. All she picked up on was that the number 2 hero's quirk was similar to her dads "Ok, but what does that mean for Izumi's quirk?" Inko asks.
The doctor looks excited to explain "Well you see her quirk isn't just a perfect combination of both her parent's quirks, which is very rare in itself to begin with, but it seems to be much more than that." She continues with an even wider grin now "It seems to be a perfect combination of the very cores of her parents' quirks! Both telekinetic and temperature based."
"So is it cool?! Is it amazing?! Is it strong?! What can I do with it?" Izumi rattles off another list of questions, and again in her questioning tosses her toy across the room.
The doctor laughs "Yes to all of your questions, and for what it can do specifically, it might be a little hard for you to understand right now but your mother here will certainly know how amazing and strong are."
She turns to Inko who seemed almost as excited as her daughter after hearing that.
"From what we've gathered from the tests and having some quirk specialists with specialised analysing quirks come in, to have a look at it due to the complexity of the quirk factors that appeared in her blood. We've concluded that it will allow her to telekinetically control the speed of the vibration of atoms around her and therefore raising and or lowering the temperature in her effective area, giving her complete control of the temperature as well as burning or freezing anything in the area. It's simply amazing!"
Inko's jaw dropped to the floor, it truly was an outstanding quirk to possess "That…. that's…. incredible."
"Though I do have to ask." She said, running her fingers through Izumi's now discoloured hair "What's happening to Izumi's hair? There's strands of white hairs on the right side and strands or red hairs on the left."
"Oh, that will simply be a slight mutation indicating her quirk. It's very common for even emitter and transformation type quirk wielders to have slight mutations to go along with their quirk, it's nothing to worry abo-"
The doctor got interrupted by a meek voice cutting in "Umm… so is it cool? Ca… can I still be a hero with it, a hero like All Might?" Her voice got even lower at the end of her question.
There was a moment of silence in the air, to a 4 year old it could easily be mistaken for tension and awkwardness towards her question. As such her eyes started watering in the corners, dreading the answer.
The silence was broken by both adults present giving a loud laugh. A moment later they both stopped, Inko laid gentle eyes on Izumi.
"Of course you can sweetie, you can be an amazing hero." She wrapped her in a tight hug then continued "In fact I know you can be one of the best heroes there is with a powerful quirk like yours, and with you and Katsuki making a team you'll take the world by storm and be the best of the best!"
They pulled away from each other, locking eyes.
"You are really amazing, you're going to be a great hero." As her mother said, showing a warm smile. The word amazing stuck in her head.
She looked up, eyes wide, smile on her face and thought "Yeah you're right, I am amazing, in fact I bet there's no one as great as me!"

Hi, to anyone who actually clicked on this, and anyone who bothers reading this part.
This is the first Fanfic I've ever written and it really only started when I thought of a cool sounding quirk that could probably come from Inko and Hisashi.
Then from there I thought "If it's that, that's a lot like Todoroki's quirk, than would Izuku look like Todoroki?"
And that thought lead to me thinking "If Izuku had a kickass quirk like that and hung around Bakugo his whole life, then would he act more like him?"
And finally I thought something completely unrelated when reading a different Fic "This is a good Fic, I like Fam!Izuku."
