AN: First off I'd like to thank Heroma who heroically volunteered to beta read this chapter.

Disclaimer: The first chapter is a bit older and was released as a bit of a test to see if people liked the basic idea, so if you want to get a good feel for the story and higher quality writing I recommend reading chapter 2. The second chapter had a lot more time poured into it and S. law's help with a lot of the scenes.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU DIED!

"Good job me! Oh and who are you?"

YOU CAN CALL ME THE SYSTEM.

"Okay, so what now, do I get to find out what happens after death or something.I was always curious about that?"

YOU WILL BE REBORN WITH THE ABILITIES OF THE GAMER.

When I was about to ask what the voice meant I heard a ping.

I immediately looked in the direction of the noise.

Skill Obtained

Gamer's spirit – Passive

Keeps the user calm

Grants immunity to mental attacks.

Skill Obtained

Gamer's body – Passive

Was this what the system was talking about? I didn't get to finish my train of thought because a new text box appeared accompanied by the familiar ping sound.

Choose your name:

I don't remember my name, and I was always bad at naming. What's the most generic name I can think of?

Choose your name:

John Smith

Yeah, that's good enough for now, and hilarious to hear people say.

Choose your race:

Human | ? | ?

"Why is the only awailable race a human?"

THE OTHER RACES HAVEN'T BEEN UNLOCKED YET.

"Well that's not even a decision then."

Choose your class type:

Fighter | Mage | Thief | Ranger

Thief could be useful but I don't know where I'll end up, some world's have crazy sensory abilities. Ranger most likely means guns, bows and all sorts of ranged weaponry, the issue with that is the lack of close range options. As fun as beating people up with my bare fist would be the smarter choice is mage.

Choose your class:

Elementalist | Support | Illusionist | Summoner

Support is out immediately because I would rather not risk needing others.
Illusionist could be useful, but illusions can only do so much in a combat scenario.

With that in mind the only 2 logical options are Elementalist and Summoner.

Both have huge potential, but I think I'll take Summoner. I can only be at one place at once, summons could change that and why would I risk my life in a fight when I could have someone fight for me.

Choose your specialization:

Elemental Summoning | Necromancy | Void Calling | Demonology | Golemancy

Elemental Summoning, Necromancy and Golemancy I understand

but Void Calling and Demonology are surprises.

Demonology feels too risky to me and I don't want to deal with Demons and their trickery.

Golemancy might require resources that I won't acquire.

Necromancy usually requires corpses which are an entirely different type of difficult to get.

That leaves Elemental Summoning and Void Calling.

The only Void that could be related to summoning that I can think of off the top of my head is the one from League of Legends. Malzahar could summon creatures from the void and there were other champions related to the void like Cho'gath and Vel'koz. Both of which would make great summons.

The safer option would be Elemental Summoning, Void Calling is high risk high reward.

I should go with Elemental Summoning, but they do say nothing ventured, nothing gained, fuck it.

Hell yeah! I can work with that!

THE CHARACTER CREATION IS OVER BEGINNING TRANSPORTATION TO THE STARTING WORLD.

I find myself in a forest.I could only see trees around exploration can wait for now. I need to figure out what abilities I have as a Gamer.

"Okay, is there anything like a status screen?"

John Smith

Class – Void Caller (Lv.1)

Race – Human

HP – 100 (10 per minute)

MP – 100 (20 per 30 seconds)

STR – 10

VIT – 10

DEX – 10

INT – 10

WIS – 10

CHA – 10

LCK – 10

Points available – 0

Okay that's progress but what do these stats equal to? Obviously VIT is vitality, but what does 10 points in VIT mean?

STR REPRESENTS YOUR PHYSICAL FITNESS

YOUR HP IS EQUAL TO 10 TIMES YOUR VIT

AND YOUR HP REGEN IS EQUAL TO YOUR VIT.

DEX REPRESENTS HOW FAST YOU CAN MOVE, YOUR REACTION SPEED AND FINESSE.

INT REPRESENTS YOUR INTELLIGENCE

YOUR MP IS EQUAL TO 10 TIMES YOUR INT.

WIS REPRESENTS YOUR ABILITY TO UTILIZE YOUR INTELLIGENCE
YOUR MP REGEN IS 2 TIMES YOUR WIS.

CHA REPRESENTS YOUR CHARISMA.

LCK REPRESENTS YOUR LUCK.

Those aren't really detailed descriptions, but it was more than what I expected. So the stats that would benefit my class the most would be INT and WIS. CHA and LCK are different from others and feel more like out of combat stats, though that's arguable with luck but I digress. STR and DEX probably help with the Fighter and Thief class types respectively and most likely the Ranger as well.

Now what else does the Gamer give me? I have skills, stats and classes. The only other thing I can think of is an inventory. Before me a box with a lot of empty slots appeared. So that answers that, what now?

I hear a branch snapping behind me and turn around to see a huge black werewolf-like creature covered partially in white bone armor, the biggest piece being the mask over the creature's head. A beowulf.

It prepares to lunge at me. I jump to the side as the beowulf jumps to where I was standing.

I try to summon a voidling but nothing happens. "Fuck! How do I use skills?" I yell in anger. Voice activation? It's worth a shot. "Summon Voidling!" After the words leave my mouth a small spider-like monster appears next to me.

"Attack the beowulf!" I shout to my summon. "Void Touch!" synchronizing the attack with my minion. As I touch the beowulf multiple small purple lightning arcs begin to move from my hand to its body. "Status!"

John Smith

I move away from the creature and look for any signs of damage. I can't see any wounds my skill inflicted, so I look at the head of the creature on which my voidling is slashing away at the mask. To my surprise my summon is able to damage the bone mask and starts ripping apart the monster's flesh viciously. Its attacks become faster and faster due to the void energy spreading through its victims body courtesy of my void touch.

After a moment the Grimm turns to dust and disappears.

Skill Gained

Observe – Active (Lv.1)

Level up.

Shit I panicked and forgot to summon the second one. "I'm not going to survive long if one regular beowulf takes so long to take down." I say while I notice something laying on the ground. "Observe."

100 Lien bill

Amount: 1

Type: Currency

That's a good amount if lien is about the same value as US dollars. That's something to figure out for later. "Status."

Okay so stats increase by 1 per level and I get an additional 5 points I can put into anything. My best bet right now is probably either WIS or INT. I didn't get the chance to use Void Blast, but I think it will definitely be useful in the future, considering it's my only ranged option.

Speaking of skills, there is probably a way to view a list of them or something like that. "Skills."

The skills I used have leveled up, and it seems that Summon Voidling's limit increases by 1 per level. Assuming that the maximum is level 100 then I get to double that and I have a sizable army. A voidling is about as big as a small dog and about 1.5 are needed to take care of 1 beowulf. Grimms white armor isn't a big issue to them, so they could probably kill an older grimm with enough time. Wait, I can just check its stats and calculate based on that. "Observe."

Voidling

Type: Basic

HP 50/50

MP 0/0

That's not what I expected but still not bad. Type Basic means there are other types, which I could try to summon. It's quite fast and deadly, I can't be sure how fast exactly because of the lack of stats. The fact it has an MP stat could suggest some types could use magic but that's purely speculation.

I could try summoning a different type of voidling considering the fact I have empty slots. What type could be useful? For now, I suppose a tank would help a lot considering we're both squishy.

I don't have a strong enough frontline to worry about creating a back line. A beetle type voidling could fill that role but how do I choose what gets summoned.

During the fight I was thinking about the voidling from the game so maybe imagining it is enough?

"Summon Voidling." As the words leave my mouth a small creature appears. It resembles a corrupted ironclad beetle. In terms of coloring it's gray and purple like the Basic type. "Observe."

Voidling

Type: Ironclad beetle

HP 1000/1000

MP 0/0

The experiment went great. I'm going to guess that the massive HP increase was a trade for speed and damage. I wonder how void energy interacts with it. Now let's see if that leveled up the skill. "Skills."

Summon Voidling – Active (Lv.2)

Summons a Voidling that obeys your every command.

Max 4

Cost 50 MP

So skill's most likely only level up in combat. With the basics out of the way we can move onto figuring out where I am. I'll climb a tree and check the surroundings. After climbing up to the top of the tree I saw a huge tower surrounded by other buildings.

"Really? Right next to Beacon?" Now I know where but not when in relation to canon. I can't just go to the town and ask for a date, because those would mean nothing to me and I would come off as incredibly weird and suspicious. Beacon isn't destroyed so either I'm before it's destruction or a long time after. Wait, the Vytal Festival is an international event, so there probably is information on when it's happening somewhere.

For now, I'll try to hunt a few more grimm for lien and xp, after that I'll head to Vale.

I still have 2 slots free for summoning. Let's think this through: I have a tank and an assassin type dps, I act like a support going in once to apply void touch, after that I'll just distract and attack with void blast. I think the best option for me now would be to just get another pair of tank and dps voidlings to cover multiple targets. My capacity is too small to organize a well rounded team.

Killing a few packs of beowulfs, not bigger than three of course, got me to level 5. I got a bit beat up but that doesn't really matter and that beowulf got a lucky hit in when I was fighting the other two, still angry about that.

Shows information about target

Huh no new skills so far but General's Ambition is already showing how good it truly is. I decide to walk over to a nearby pond to rest and decide how I want to distribute my summon slots.

Approaching the pond I notice my reflection. My face is different than it was before my death, I have a very defined bone structure, green eyes, light brown hair and lightly tanned skin. I have a pretty light build and I'm about 6'3 tall. I'm wearing a sleeveless black tank top, on top of which is a vest of the same colour, and black baggy trousers .

Deciding it's probably the best idea to focus on something else I review my current summons.

Two ironclad beetle's and two basics, after a bit of consideration I decide to summon two more beetle's. I should make a ranged unit, there are a couple of ways I could go about this but I'll go for a hybrid approach. I imagine fruit bat-like creatures but with a kangaroo-like sack on their lower chest area.

"Observe."

Voidling
Type: Modified fruit bat
HP
75/75
MP 10/10

The idea behind these is for them to function like bombers. They put rocks into their sack, imbue them with void energy and drop them on their enemies, after running out they could either refill or start swooping in and attacking, a hit and run tactic.

"Now to count up how much lien I got." After counting all the lien it summed up to about 900 lien, I'm not sure how much that really is but let's stay positive.

When I was about to get up and start walking towards the city I heard screaming. It sounds like a male voice. Coming from the sky? Stopping my train of thought I focus on a red and black spot that seems to be falling at me from the sky.

"Watch out!"
