Prologue

It started the morning Draco turned eighteen. He had dreamt he was on a fishing boat stationed out in a bay, pulling up a net carrying the day's catch. The sun was at its peak, and he could feel sweat dripping down his face. He and the other seamen on the vessel were going about their daily tasks, when they were interrupted by a terrible sound sweeping through the sky, and he looked up to see the crowded peninsula in front of him be consumed by a wave of ash. He let out a wail of despair and thrust himself into the water to begin swimming towards the shore, only to be hauled back up by two men who had been nearest to him. It was there the dream ended, and he woke up frightened and shaken.

This dream became a regular occurrence in his sleeping hours, where it seemed as soon as he closed his eyes he would be transported to that same place and time, only to wake up in a cold sweat. He didn't understand why he kept having this particular dream, or what it was that was causing him to plunge into the sea so desperately at the end. All he knew was that it left him with a feeling anguish and dread, all bundled into a knot in the pit of his gut.

It wasn't until the night before he left for his final year of Hogwarts that he received somewhat of an answer. This time his agonizing shout turned into a name, and along with the name came the vision of a face; the name was unfamiliar to him, but the face was one he recognized immediately.

Granger?

AN: Hello :) It's been a while since I've done a new story. I've been working on this one for the past couple of years and it is finished, so I'll be uploading every a new part every Friday. My inspiration for this story came from both Automatic by Red Velvet, and Delicate by TSwift. I hope you continue to read on, and leave a review if you are so inclined.
