Sekai no Tatakai: Battle of Worlds

Prologue: "Wargames"

Out in the Divine realm, the named entity Being X was leisurely observing the inhabitants of the multitude of worlds he had come to create. The self-proclaimed god had claimed to be the creator of all that has and all that will be. Despite all that, it appalled him as to what he found among the worlds: Humans and human-like creatures who never to hardly ever acknowledged his feats. It enraged him to see all these creatures living out their lives without ever giving thanks to the one who created them.

"Such insolence." He said to himself.

Meanwhile, Tet was floating right next to the angry god, his head in his hands as he looked over the multiple realms just as the other god was. However, where Being X saw ungrateful mortals refusing to pay him the tribute he felt he so rightfully deserved, Tet merely saw humans enjoying the life they had been given, which he certainly had no problem with. It was all he had ever wanted, after all.

"What do you mean, insolent? They look like they're having fun down there! Makes me wish I could go play with them for a bit, but I'm fine just watching!"

Being X looked over to the child god who had appeared next to him. Whereas he claimed to take measures to maintain peace among the worlds, to him Tet merely stood back and watched everything go by without a care in the world, not even considering that things may be amiss. Although, the reality was that Being X didn't do all that much for the greater good of the worlds either, he just claimed to.

"You never seem to take anything seriously, do you? And regarding your comment, don't you have the slightest idea what may happen should a godly being such as us appear among the humans with our presence? They would begin to rely on us for everything and forget about their duties, which would only increase our workload that much more."

"I take everything seriously! This just isn't that serious! The humans down there are just having fun, and who are we to try and stop that? That's why I said I'm fine just watching."

Everything Tet said was accompanied with a childlike smile, very much a contrast to the angry look on Being X's face. Clearly, Tet saw nothing wrong with his viewpoint, nor with how he was responding to Being X's claims. "Besides, even if we could do something, what exactly do you want us to do? I'm not really into the whole divine intervention thing. I prefer to play games with people!"

"Games and fun you say?!" Being X said.

Normally the thought of godly beings messing around would enrage him; however, considering his treatment, or lack thereof, from his creations, the thought of interfering to change such a treatment intrigued him.

"Then perhaps we can do something to appease both our interests. What do you say about a little "game" in which we observe the outcome of the inhabitants of these worlds coming together?"

Whereas Tet wanted to play games, Being X wanted acknowledgement. The "game" he suggested made him think that, in a scenario where people were in their gravest or most chaotic moments, they would turn to the gods for assistance.

"You can choose how you play, and I shall choose how I do."

Tet considered what the other god said for a moment before responding. "Hmmm... Interesting! Alright, I'll play along. And if I get to choose how this thing works, then I have the perfect idea!"

Tet floated his way over towards Being X's ear, and whispered his plan to the other god. He had seen this kind of thing happen all the time in video games, and now this was his chance to do it for real! How could he pass it up?

After a minute or so of whispering, Tet floated back to his original position, a wide grin on his face. "...And that's my plan! What do you think? Pretty good, huh?"

"I would even go so far as brilliant." Being X said

Whereas Being X had just planned on having the inhabitants come together, the thought of each of their worlds combining into one only made their endeavor sound that much better for him. Surely this would invite acknowledgment of their abilities and feats.

"Then shall we begin?"

Once Being X had agreed to his plan, Tet cheered and pumped his fists in the air. While he usually didn't care for violence in the slightest, this would be a very different kind of fighting, and one he was excited to see unfold.

"I can't wait to see how this'll go down! Let's get started!"

And so the two gods enact their plan for their playful desires. However, unbeknownst to them, something sinister was to awaken from this foolish decision

Something to keep in mind about this particular fanfic is the fact that strictly speaking, it has 5 or so authors. This is actually an RP from an RP server adapted into fanfic form, edited some to make things flow better. As such, characterization will doubtless vary as each player has a different view on their character, though this is still a collaborative effort and we try to stay in character.
