Chapter 31: Private talk with Shoto
In Shoto's room, Izu gets comfy on the lower bunk before asking Shoto what he wants to talk about, causing Shoto to close the door and told Izuku that Toya happens to be one of his cousins who betrayed the family by following the Warcraft of Doom's ideology and became part of the Devil Brats. Soon, Shoto shows Izu an album of his family until he shows him a picture of Toya and him before he betrays the family when he was just a baby, and he was living with them after his parents died. A flashback then begins at a family reunion when Toya is at his peak when he wants Mr. Todoroki to acknowledge him so he can be a hero that surpass All Might. Soon after feeling overshadowed by Shoto multiple times, Toya snapped and bring in the Warcraft of Doom, including All for one, who then killed everybody but Shoto's family, who just took off with tears in their eyes. After the flashback, Izu starts to feel anger because the Devil Brats are causing misery to innocent lives.
Shoto puts a hand onto Izuku's shoulder to calm him down and told him that nobody knows about this but them, Natsuo, Fyumi and Shoto's parents. Shoto then told Izu that he must never tell anyone about this, which caused Izu to look down for a moment before promising not to tell. Soon another flashback begins with Toya getting inspired by his uncle to become a hero and surpass All Might. However, Mr. and Mrs. Todoroki talked with the commissioner and since Toya isn't immune to his flames, he can't be a hero, which disappointed Mr. Todoroki. However, Toya refused to listen and kept training himself until he starts begging his uncle to acknowledge him. When things aren't going his way, Toya decided to go to All for one for help and he offered him to be part of his organization if he brings all the Todoroki family together at one place. Toya then thinks for a moment before asking All for one to let him give his uncle a chance to acknowledge him then they will attack. That night, Toya gives his uncle and aunt an idea to host a family reunion at their mansion before the next morning, as Todoroki kept trying to get Endeavor to see him train and acknowledge him until the night of the family reunion, where and bring in the Warcraft of Doom, including All for one, who then killed everybody but Shoto's family, who just took off with tears in their eyes. After the flashback and playing videogames with Shoto and his brother. It's time for bed. The next day, Izu told everything that happened except for Toya's backstory as his friends smiled before Momo asked him if he wants to spend time at her apartment, which Izu said that he'll be happy to before saying that he'll try to spend time at everyone's apartments, which made everybody smile and cheers for Izu.
Shoto then gets a flashback of himself as a baby that doesn't show emotions. He and his family used to live in a mansion until Toya betrayed the family and forced them to leave the mansion and moved into a Japanese townhouse. Ever since then, Mr. Todoroki been scowling and so hot tempered, that he almost does cruel things to his family. Mr. Todoroki decided to be a hero himself as he worked his way up and became the number one hero. However, All Might moved into Japan and took his spot as number 1, leaving him full of jealousy and hatred. When Shoto is four, Natsuo is five and Fyumi is nine, the Todoroki family watched All Might confirmed his dating status with Inko, causing Endeavor to tell Shoto that he's going to be enrolled into the kindergarten center so he'll be Izuku's rival and be able to be a pro hero that surpassed All Might. However, after his fight with the Devil Brats along with his friends. Mr. Todoroki punishes Shoto with a belt before yelling at him for fighting someone who's not his rival. Shoto then told his dad everything about Izuku and it's not worth it to make him a rival for the number one spot, which made his dad extremely disappointed as he went upstairs. Suddenly, the Todoroki family were attacked by villains, which caused Endeavor to jump in and protect his family. Soon, Shoto joins him and told his dad that Izuku told him that he needs to stand up for what's right even if it's none of his business, causing Endeavor to become mellow and asked Shoto if Izuku really did protect him from the Devil Brats, causing him to confirm it. Suddenly, Toya makes an appearance and burned Shoto's left eye much to his family's shock as Toya that he's now Dabi before chewing his uncle out for not acknowledging him and said that he's going to pay for making him feel worthless one way or another before leaving with his goons. The flashback then ends with Mr. Todoroki listening to his son chewing Natsuo and Fyumi out along with the rest of the Peanut Gallery chewing their respective siblings before Momo advised them to get to know Izu before describing him to them. Making Mr. Todoroki cries tears of joy before heading off to the press conference.
