What's up guys! Here's the first chapter of my new book. This is the book that was option #1 in the question I asked you guys. Well, hope you enjoy! Tell me what you think!
Falling.
Percy had just woken up, and he was falling.
This feeling... This freefall in pure darkness. He recognised it. But it couldn't be! Why would he be here?
Unless it was just a dream...Percy pinched himself, hard. He didn't even know if that trick worked or not, but he would dam well try it.
Please, please gods no. Not again. Why was he here?
He stretched midair and tried to recollect his thoughts...
A few days earlier...
Percy was walking through the city of New York with a carefree smile on his face. He had just visited his mom and Paul, the giant war was over, and he was on his way to meet Annabeth, his girlfriend. Really, life couldn't be better.
Suddenly, life got a whole lot worse. Percy wasn't really concentrating on his surroundings. He'd let his guard down after a war, which a lot of warriors are prone to do.
And just like a lot of warriors, he paid the price for such carelessness.
Percy had been looking at the sky, wondering where he'd go after he met his girlfriend. Camp Jupiter or Camp Half-Blood? He needed to do some stuff at both camps anyway, so it didn't really matter, he thought. Suddenly, the hairs on the back of his arms and neck stood to attention, warning him of danger.
But it was too late.
Percy looked back down at where he was going, and saw a beautiful girl around his age standing in his path. Percy looked around, and four other hot girls were standing around him, making sultry eyes at him.
Percy sighed in relief. Must just be some girls that recognised him from somewhere, maybe an old school?
But then he spun back to the front again. No... The girl in front looked so familiar, and not in a good way. His danger senses kicked in again, and he suddenly drew his pen from his pocket.
"Who are you- Oww..." He said, as one of the girls behind him hit him over the head with something metallic. Percy collapsed, still looking at the lead girl in confusion.
Suddenly, Percy recognised her.
The cheerleader...And so the rest were her buddies I met in Tartarus, then.
Kelli, Percy thought as he drifted out of consciousness.
Percy woke up, finding himself in what seemed to be a hotel room. He was tied to the bed, and five empousai were standing over him, grinning. Percy gulped. This wasn't good.
"Why... What's going on? Why haven't you killed me?" He said, looking around confused. Whatever they were going to do, Percy had a sneaky suspicion that it'd probably be worse than death.
"Oh, we won't kill you. For what you did to us, we're going to make you pay. For you, it'll be a fate worse than death." One of the empousai told him.
Suspicion vindicated.
An empousa got into the bed on one side of him and another on the other side. Percy was really getting scared.
"Nope. No, no no! I won't!" He yelled, frantically straining at his restraints. Kelli rolled her eyes.
"Oh please, doing stuff with amazingly hot beings like us wouldn't be torture now, would it?" The empousa said, flipping her hair over her shoulder and fluttering her eyes at him.
Percy took note of her legs, one of a donkey and one sculpted from bronze. He could see them if he looked really hard. The boy snickered. "Surrrrrrre" he chuckled.
Turns out that was a bad move.
Serephone slapped Percy in the face, hard. "Kelli, I think we should explain our plan to him," she laughed cruelly.
"Wait! In a minute! Positions, everyone! He's here!" Kelli exclaimed.
Percy was confused. Who was here?
Suddenly, the empousai by his sides cosied up to him and started giggling and touching his face. Percy, highly uncomfortable, was in so much shock that when the eyes of a thirteen year old boy peered through the gap in the door, which was ajar, he only stared back, not sure what was going on.
It must be the power Kelli's friend used on me back at Goode, Percy thought. It made him really want to give in to them.
Then Percy realised the boy was in danger. He probably saw the empousai as just normal pretty girls, like Percy kept doing! "Get out of here!" He yelled at the kid, trying to ensure the boy's safety.
The boy looked at him with something Percy couldn't identify in his stare. Was that... Accusation? The boy suddenly shot off, and they heard his footsteps receeding down the hallway and pounding down the stairs.
Suddenly, Percy felt a whole load of doubt. What the Hades was going on? Who was that kid?
The two empousai got off him, and Kelli turned back to him, a cruel smile plastered on her face. Suddenly Percy started bucking and shaking, trying to rip at his restraints.
"It's no use, dearie! Those bonds will hold tight. You should be more worried about what will happen when you do get out," she cackled.
"You see, that boy was a son of Hermes that we lured here. He'll undoubtedly go back to your camp and report that *gasp* the camp leader was in bed with five girls around him! Your Annabeth will break up with you for sure!" She grinned. Percy grimaced.
"Well, that's unfortunate. But you see, you underestimate Annabeth. She'll trust me, don't worry!" He grinned right back. But Kelli had a glint in her eye as if she knew something he didn't, and he decided to put his escape plan into action.
Earlier, as he had been kicking and straining, he'd used the commotion to discretely draw some water from the sink that was close by. He'd managed to sneak it under him, and by forming it into a line and sawing it really fast against his restraints, he'd been able to cut them all.
He grinned, and suddenly the monsters surrounding him were wary. Nothing good for monsters ever came of that damned smirk.
Percy had managed to sneak Riptide out of his pocket and into his hand, and with his thumb, flicked off the cap.
The blade sprung out, right through the empousa on his right's head. She wailed, and burst into golden dust. Quick as a flash, Percy leapt up and splashed through the other empousa's donkey leg, making her hunch over in pain, and then finished her off.
Standing on the bed, he assessed the situation. At the foot of the bed, three of the female devils were standing, one at each corner and Kelli in the middle. He decided on his plan of action, and leapt into battle.
He levitated the water he'd been using as a blade, and made it shoot through Serephone's wings, making her cry out in pain, and then through her forehead. She collapsed to the ground, crumbling into golden dust, and while the other empousa looked at her, he sliced her head off, leaving only Kelli.
Even as he killed the second last empousa, he'd already been jumping towards his final enemy, and thrust Anaklusmos straight for her heart. But just as he did so, she exploded into flames like she had done when they first met, leaving his sword to go through empty air and embed itself in the wall.
Percy had to tug on his sword a few times to get it back out of the wall, bracing his foot against the wall and pulling. Suddenly, it came loose and he flew backwards, hitting the bed and shaking it off.
Then he squinted in confusion. It was awfully warm all of a sudden.
He turned around to see the bed and everything on it in a blaze of flames, with everything else surrounding him on fire as well. He'd been so caught up in trying to free his sword that he hadn't noticed the waves of fire she'd exploded into start burning every flammable object around.
Percy then looked down, and jumped in surprise. The very floor he was standing on was burning too. Thank goodness for 'the blood of Poseidon coursing through his veins' or whatever those telkhines in Mount St. Helens had said all those years ago. Being a little fire resistant was kinda cool.
He used water to put out the flames, and then sprinted out of the building, not looking back. He had to get to camp, had to explain himself.
Meanwhile Kelli, in a room on the floor just below the one they had been in, grinned, looking at a mortal's phone that she had stolen before they had pulled this off, and scrolled through the images she'd taken. Selfies, four or five of them, with Kelli's grinning face in the foreground and Percy looking like he was willingly having fun with the other two in the background.
She typed in the number of Annabeth Chase's emergency phone. She knew it off by heart after the amount of times Luke had typed it in, deleted it, and typed it in again, debating whether to call the girl.
She attached the images, and captioned them. Our boyfriend now, and he's on our side as well. She typed, grinning maliciously.
Kelli hit 'Send'.
