Instead of finding a garden world or a deposit of Element Zero or Metals instead, they found a ship that no one recognises and a huge headache and technology which will change the Systems Alliance and humanity forever.

Lt. Commander Shepard, White Death of Elysium, borderline pariah, new commander the SSV Normandy. Hackett tasks her with the thankless, redaction-heavy missions N7s train for. Along the way she forms an unlikely band of misfits into a highly effective army, and discovers just how thin the galaxy's veneers of normalcy are. (An AU/"Reaper-free" TV-Show-format series.)

Commander Shepard is the sole survivor with a synthetic sole, among other augmentations due to the Akuze incident. She's suppressed her emotions and ignored persuasions to retire in her willingness to continue her tour of duty, relying on medication to help with her nightmares and the phantom pains that have persisted. People think it's determination. It's just a distraction.

Set in the Mass Effect universe with slight alterations. I do not own anything about Mass Effect.

Wrex was quick to search and recover Shepard. Now he works to keep her survival a secret as his people looked for the Normandy. There's just a few problems with that. 1. The alliance wants her and Hackett suspects she's alive. 2. The mass relays and most of the technology-based around them are no longer functioning. 3. Keeping her alive. Where's Vakarian when he needs him?

When a strange power awakens within him, he sees this as the chance to destroy "the alien oppressor". However he learns that the galaxy isn't so black and white. Joker's the one who has to drop her into hell, over and over. He's her pilot after all, and he'd follow anywhere she asked of him. Ashe Shepard didn't ask for her scars but she'll bear them all just to bring Joker home to safe harbour. Canon-related AU where Joker and Shepard's relationship goes back to the Academy.
