As I looked into her eyes I realized how much I truly love her. Maya Hart, the woman of my heart. Dating her has been wonderful, but making love to her is magic incarnate. I have experience working with broken people, and have had experience with people working on me when I was broken." Then Jenny with a look of certainty on her face aid, "Well I'm not here to be fixed. I may have been raised by a single mom my whole life, but I haven't used that as an excuse for falling behind or needing any special help." Riley then said, "Didn't say you needed it. In fact Miss Jacobs... you seem to come across as a self-sufficient and driven woman of action. How about every afternoon, we have you teach a class for me." A wide eyed and excited Jenny said, "Seriously? But I'm just a student." Then Riley with a smirk said, "And this is art class; we don't have the same level of intense standards the other subjects have. You wanna show how great a person you are? Then show how you can lead others." Jenny then made a smirk and said, "Okay Miss Matthews. You're not as bad as I thought you'd be. All right, you're on." Then Riley and Jenny smiled as they shook hands.
Later in the school day, Jenny was walking down the hallway with a male friend of hers as she said, "I'm telling you Edward. This new art teacher may be new, but she's like an actually legit cool person." Jenny's friend: Edward smiled as he said, "Well I'm glad she sees something special in you. Just like I do. You know Jenny, now that we're in high school, maybe you and me should try..." Then Jenny turned her head and saw an attractive and slightly older male teenager handing out pamphlets. Jenny's face began to blush as bit as he said, "Oh wow. Who is that guy?" Edward seeing the guy said, "Him? He's a senior. I've seen him around." Jenny began to grin as she said, "Well I want to see him around every part of my body." Then Jenny walked towards the guy as Edward turned his head away, hiding his expression of frustration.
Then Jenny walked over and stood right in front of the guy as she said, "Hi. I'm Jenny." The guy smiled as he looked at Jenny and said, "Hey. I'm Rick. I'm the assistant student coach of the new advanced gymnastics team. You wanna join? Helping keep your body flexible while young will keep your body from tightening up when you're older." Then Jenny turned away and walked over to Edward as she said, "We're doing gymnastics try-outs tomorrow." A confused Edward said, "We?" Then Jenny said, "Hey. I need a wing-man on this, and we've been best friends since kindergarten. I need you bro." Edward turned away and sighed as he said, "Yep. That's what I am. Just your bro."
Riley was wearing a night gown in a little apartment as she was sitting on the bed while holding a phone as she said, "Yes Aunt Morgan. My first day at school went just fine. You really didn't have to check in." Then on the other end, Riley heard Morgan say, "Well after your whole extended family helped you through your long college journey, it just seemed right to make sure things were starting off on the right note. So... you already start doing any life lesson speeches like your dad always did in the classroom?" Riley made a little smile as she said, "No. But... I did meet this new teaching assistant of mine. Blonde hair, and full of so much drive and passion. Just like... Maya." Riley was silent for a moment and then Morgan said, "Riley, it's okay to still miss somebody. I mean just like you, I miss your parents every day." Riley then said, "Yeah, but they're dead now Morgan. I've accepted I'm never gonna see my mom and dad again. But Maya... she's still probably out there somewhere." Then Morgan said, "Maybe Riley. But you haven't dated anybody since Maya. You deserve to be happy Riley. You finally have a good job. You don't have to focus on finding a career anymore, you can now focus on finding the right person." Tears began to appear in Riley's eyes as she said, "I... I... I've had a long day. Good night Morgan." Then Riley turned off her phone and then laid down and began to cry into her pillow.

Riley sat alone in her art classroom as she looked at a picture in the classroom that was a drawing of an outdoor pool. Riley closed her eyes and began to think back the past; to the last day she saw Maya. Riley remembered how sad she was that Maya was moving due to her mom getting a big breakthrough acting job. As Riley remembered standing in front of Maya in an outdoor pool parking lot all those years ago, there were no tears, and no sobbing. Riley then remembered hugging Maya and saying the words, "I love you." Maya said no words back. She just smiled and then parted from Riley. And then Maya turned to look back, froze for a second, and then smiled. It was Riley's last memory of Maya. And despite the sadness that followed when they lost each other's contact information (due to Riley herself moving shortly after Maya did), it never changed the strong romantic feelings that Riley felt for Maya that last day they were together.
Then Riley's thoughts were interrupted by Jenny walking into the room. Riley sat up and composed herself as she said, "Jenny. Hi. How are you doing?" Jenny with a look of humiliation in her face, sat down and said, "Awful. I made a huge fool of myself, and now I'm afraid to ever show my face in the hallway again." Riley looking concerned now said, "Well that doesn't sound like the confident and strong-willed young lady I met a few days ago. What happened?" Jenny sighed and said, "There's this guy I like a lot named Rick, who's the assistant student coach to the school gymnastics team. I wanted to try out for the team and show off to Rick how awesome I am. Only... I forgot until I was starting my try-outs that I have zero gymnastics experience. And now Rick probably sees me as some mentally challenged fool who doesn't understand anything."
Seeing how upset Jenny was, Riley began to look for the right words to say. Then Riley finally spoke up and said, "You know... when I was young, I had this best friend. And I loved her because I didn't have to pretend to be anybody else when I was around her. I could just be me. I think I know what I'm gonna be doing after school now."
In the school gym, Rick was rolling up some mats, as Jenny walked in. Rick seeing Jenny said, "Oh. Hey. Jenny, right? You still doing okay?" Jenny then walked right up to Rick and said, "No. I... I need to be honest with you. I didn't try out for your class yesterday because I have any interest in gymnastics. I tried out because I'm interested in you. Then Riley smiled as she said, "Well the school already called your real mom, and she told them that she's sorry she couldn't be here sooner. But she should be here soon I think." Then the two heard a female voice outside the room say, "Hello. I'm Jenny Jacobs' mom. I was told her room was near her." Then Jenny said, "Oh, that sounds like my mom." Riley smiled as she stood up and said, "Well stay put. I'll meet with her and show her in." Then Riley began to walk out the door as she said, "Hi. I'm Jenny's teacher. I'm Miss..." And then right before Riley could process anything else going on, she heard a familiar voice say, "Riley?" Then suddenly reality hit Riley. Standing right in front of her was her best friend: Maya Hart; grown up and looking back at her. Both Riley and Maya froze as they looked into each other's eyes, as a shocked Riley said, "Maya?"

My name is Maya Hart, and I am completely in love with my best friend Riley Matthews. How are the classes, and this new student assistant teaching deal you got?" Jenny then said, "Classes are fine. The student assistant deal is actually really cool. The art teacher can tell how driven I am and said she wants me to help her start teaching a class." Maya smiled and said, "Now that's what I'm talking about. Don't let anyone make you think having interest in the arts won't lead to success."
Then Jenny smiled and said, "Well I did get a bit lucky with this art teacher. She's a bit of weird free thinker, but I think that's what makes her so cool. I mean she actually has this weird thing for purple cats, and even has one on her purse." Maya looking a little surprised said, "Did you say purple cats?" Then Jenny looked at her watch and said, "Oh shoot, I have to go." Then Maya looking at her watch said, "Already? Don't you have a little more time before school?" Then Jenny said, "Yeah, but I gotta meet with a friend right before classes about something important. See ya mom. Love you." Then Jenny got up and headed straight out the door with her belongings. Then right as Jenny was out the door, Maya said, "Wait? What is this something important thing you have to do?"
Jenny and Rick were both in a large school janitor's closet with their shirts off kissing while laying on the floor together.
